As a new citizen of Canada who came here as a refugee, I feel for Canadians who have been here for generations. No other country would tolerate this. I have nothing against people who come here to make it from less opportunistic places, as I was one of those people, but if you're gonna come to another country, respect its cultures and norms - don't act like you're still back home.

Like me, I already want to move back. Canada was overglamorized. I think I'm just gonna finish my post grad work permit and move back home. At least there, housing is still within my reach. It's rare people doesn't own homes. You can grow food in your backyard. Can live without debt in any way if you choose as we dont rely in mortgages and credit cards or credit scores.\n\nCanada is good in pictures, but not totally in real life. The thing that really pisses me off is that these illegal entries also gum up and slow down the process for legit asylum seekers and legit immigration petitioners who do obey the law. I saw a news report at the San Ysidro crossing where they interviewed a mother of three young children who had a legitimate asylum reason (which still has to be determined in court) who had been trying for over two years to enter legally. The system just didn’t have capacity because of the illegal crossings in the region taking up all of USCIS resources. This woman had no resources and was sleeping on the streets in Tijuana (not safe) trying to survive and care for her kids and she had the resolve to continue to doing things legally. \n\nPeople bitch about America being unsympathetic — what about people like this woman? You gonna say she should give up obeying the law and try to jump the border? What if you came home from work and found a homeless woman and her three kids eating out of your fridge? \n\nWalls don’t keep people out. They have doors. I really feel for students who are scammed. But being an international students myself, and as a young adult, I did my research on the rent, job market, living costs of the city I was going to: Vancouver. I knew it wasnt gonna be easy from the get go, I struggled but dedicated to school and to my part time job. My personal experience was that most of these students do not focus on their assignments and rely on others to do their part. It was 10x more stressful and, sadly, my strategy to survive (and my friends’) school was to avoid doing school projects with students from one particular country. And worst yet, professors would turn a blind eye to this systemic situation cause I guess everyone was paying their tuition fees.
