if theres no winners in a trade war why play the tit for tat?
|
| 2025-03-04 | 0 |
Cars, parts, food etc are not manufactured in Canada for the cheaper labor - it is just as expensive there. Making some things there was just more efficient, and therefore a good business decision, and then there are the resources they provide to the USA, the oil alone is responsible for the trade deficit. Dump is just wrong here, but he has no contrary advisors, only bobbleheads who nod in agreement.

Turn off the power now. Just stop trade. Teriffs won't work. Turn off the flow.

Trump is like Putin, lying lying lying. There was nothing what Canada could do or can do to stop this Trade war. I would even not dismiss that Trump is planing to invade Canada or Mexico. Trump is the same Gangster as his handler Putin in Moscow.

We'll gladly trade with you dear Canadians!\n????????\nAnd I sincerely hope Europe will show as much of a spine as Mr Trudeau does in this speech!

Canada...Europe is reliable, lets strengthen our relationship, improve trade agreements and don't worry when you hear VAT, that's a consumer tax....something a orange cannot understand ;)

Canada can trade with the rest of the free world ,leave the us behind their self-imposed wall

Trump is destroying our relationships with our allies. Who are we going to trade with? He is doing good with cutting costs and fraud in the U.S. Butt with Trump embarrassing the U.S. with our allies siding with Putin a murderer and dictator, makes it look like he is also.

Trade with EU @canada

Even before now less than 1% of fentanyl came across the Canadian border. Canada has had a trade imbalance with us in our favor. Canada last year had already agreed to beef up border security by $1.3 billion. Canadian troops have fought alongside US troops in several wars. As recently as a few weeks ago Canadian firefighters were helping put out fires in the US. Dumbest tariffs doesn't begin to describe it.

Holland will for sure support Canada!! I think there is a great opportunity for Canada to focus more on mutual trade with the EU. You will find smart people around the table in Brussels and in our nations. Stay strong Canadians!!
|
| 2025-03-04 | 0 |
We in the EU should stand by Canada and offer whatever support is necessary, including financial grants if needed. We should also match Canada by imposing our own 25% tariffs on the same goods and services, acting as a force multiplier. If the ‘Mango Mussolini’ refuses to listen to reason, he must feel the consequences of these actions. Hang in there, Canada! You are an incredible tough people and while your country is mentally prepared for this trade war, the US have not given it a single thought… they will be surprised and the madman will fold

TRUMP launched this trade war. NOT the American people. But we, true and patriotic Americans, who denounce Trump need our allies to stand firm against Trump - even if it hurts us. The only way for us to be able to take Trump down is to convince his supporters that he is wrong and that his actions are destroying America.

Canada has HUGE amounts of oil, lumber, rare minerals, potash (fertilizer)...WE WILL SELL THEM TO COUNTRIES WHO VALUE CANADA AS A GOOD AND LOYAL TRADING PARTNER.

100% tariffs on Tesla, 25% tariffs on all energy exports, open trade with the E.U., Asia. Time to isolate the U.S. internationally. FAFO

Americans deserve what’s coming. We’re about to find out that we’re not the only game in town and that our trade partners have options.

Time for The Commonwealth to step up and help Canada with some quick trade agreements, NZ stands with you.

The reality is: the US has reached a record high trade deficit with Canada. This deficit has grown steadily since 1976 (today it is just shy of $100 billion - meaning the US purchases $100 billion more worth of goods from Canada than Canada does from the US). The US imposing tariffs on Canada is a tactic to incentivize US companies who import goods from Canada to move manufacturing/production sourcing back to American soil. This promotes investment and expansion into the US economy. It will also incentivize Canada to commit to investing in the US economy. This would be a negotiation move by Trudeau: we (Canada) will commit to purchasing $25 billion (for example) dollars more of goods from the US if you agree to reduce the tariffs you've imposed on us to blank (maybe 5%). This is likely the end goal Trump is aiming for in the long run.

Technically, the POTUS has created a trade war against Canada, not the USA. A good sizable American demographic did not want this neither.

True Americans stand with all people who are fair, honest and DEMOCRATIC in their thinking...that includes the people of Canada and Mexico. I'm not altogether certain about the Chinese but we'll see if or how this impacts them and the reaction from there. That BUM knows precisely who those tariffs will benefit and it's not the people who work so hard in order to live their lives. I'm not crazy about Free Trade either but it is what it is.... This is retaliation...pure and simple. Anyone who crosses him will live to regret it...he'll make certain of it. He must be stopped and stopped NOW!

Is there no one at CNN who can translate French? Really? I'm American, and I'm hoping Trudeau announces that he's making trade deals with Europe (and even China) that cut us out. Betraying our allies should never be incentvised. I'm even hoping they cut off our oil, which WILL jack gas prices, since our refineries in the Midwest are only deisgned to process Canadian crude. And the truth is that the reason for the tariffs is that Trump has direct control over them, and can probably have Elon do something with the revenue that couldn't be done with normal taxes. We're all getting screwed here.

It is NOT anti Americanism, but a response to America‘s trade attack. Donald started it, he can stop it too. Like Putin. He started it, he can stop it too.

Tariffs are bad for the economy and obviously starts a trade war but the USA working with Russia is absolutely unacceptable and very dangerous
|

The united states made a huge mistake not stopping trump and backstabbing ukraine and europe - the united states will now feel a huuuuge economical hit as well as a pyhsical one as the world including canada, mexico, uk, europe, south korea, japan and all the free countries will not work with, trade with or ever trust the USA ever again. Massive own goal America.. shame on you. FK TRUMP and FK PUTIN.

The US should focus on its western ocean to investigate all ships arriving, especially from China. Illegal drugs are likely buried in legitimate trade products and there are importers in the US who allow these drugs to make their way into the country.

Tariffs 25% higher are in place in The United States of America north and southern borders and the canadian prime minister's words are some of the consecuences. He doesn't want trade war ,he doesn't want anything against americans but all the people in government in the north, the center an in the south of the border , have to work for the best and rhe common interest in notrh America ,as Pam and Paula were saying.

Impressive- 1/2 oz. Thank you for stopping drugs into our country. We are loosing our children and our healthy society. So drugs HAD to stop yesterday!!! ALL nations should NEVER accept drugs!!! We are ALL being poisoned. No countries should let drugs flow into their country or to be a corridor to anothet country. Drugs and people who let drugs flow ARE MURDERERS. Let those who make it to suffer from their own poison!! Trade war is wrong! We are Americans are worried about it as well.

It aint about no Fentanyl. Trump said he wants to bring Canada to its knees to beg to become a State? All Canada has to do is announce trading in another currency for exports to sink the U.S.

Trudeau is not very smart. He says there are no winners in a trade war. If he decides to have one, it is the U.S. who is easily going to come out on top. This may be the preparation to do what's right. He knows President Trump is right. If they charge 15% tariff so will we. That's only fair. We aren't charging more, just lets be on a level playing field.

Canada will be implementing 25% tariffs against $155 billion worth of American goods, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said in a press conference Tuesday.
\n
\nSpeaking from Ottawa, Trudeau said there was “absolutely no justification or need whatsoever” for the tariffs imposed by the US on Canada, which went into effect today.
\n
\nThe prime minister explained that $30 billion worth of US goods would see tariffs immediately, while the remaining $125 billion worth of goods would see tariffs in 21 days.
\n
\nTrudeau added that Canada will file claims at the World Trade Organization, but in the meantime, “our tariffs will remain in place until the US tariffs are withdrawn and not a moment sooner.”
\n
\nThe prime minister also again hit back against US assertions about Canada being unwilling to help in the fight against illegal fentanyl.
\n
\nHe said the legal pretext Trump presented for the justification of the tariffs —“that Canada is apparently unwilling to help in the fight against illegal fentanyl” — is “totally false.”

Trump is right now making trade arrangements with Belarus and Russia for potash, while 25% tarrifs on Canadian potash that come from within a 100 miles of border. Coded annexation talk will be coming from Trump at that address tonight - threats designed for his base to put Canada in a bad light.

Indians have used Canada like a flop house. Indians go to diploma mills and try to use it as a backdoor to stay in Canada. They take over Canadian communities and try to turn them into India - making the locals feel like foreigners in their own home. They're also involved in a lot of crime. This includes: auto theft rings, synthetic ID/credit fraud, gun and drug smuggling, and one of the largest gold heists in Canadian history at Toronto Pearson airport. Americans have stated that the top nationality entering the US illegally from Canada is Indian. The drugs they are complaining about entering the US from Canada are almost entirely brought in by Indian truck drivers (Google it and find many examples). A Fentanyl super lab in BC capable of producing over 95 million lethal doses that was busted was run by an Indian. This is now threatening trade with our main trade partner as a trade war has just started. ENOUGH ALREADY! Indians need to be sent home, and banned from entering Canada.

All joking aside, Canada has been able to form a symbiotic relationship of mutual benefit with the United States since even before NAFTA 1. But.......... right now it is almost like a 51st state and I do not mean that in a joking way. US states are always competing with each other, but what prevents things like, oh say the American Civil war from happening is the Federal apparatus keeps them in line for the good of the empire as a whole. \n\n If Canada is like a 51st state, then it is competing with the other 50 states in a way that all 50 of them are going to get upset about. So either the states complain, or you treat Canada as an economic competitor. Mexico being behind the United States and Canada is what makes it a good candidate for a symbiotic relationship. For all its problems, Mexico has a Christian population (with some indigenous traits) that goes well with America. Their nations different economic status means we can support them and they can support us doing different things for countries of different development stages.\n\nCanada being so similar to the United States will want that as well and will never outbid the United States. Again this is seen as a hostile economic competitor. \n\nIts not Canada or Americas fault. After 2007 and the lies about fanny and Freddie, leman bros, mortgage backed security's, and a cash shortage that was not real. How was it real if the offshore exchanges did nothing? 2007 was not financial in origin it was our global monetary system seizing up. To say Wall Street greed and MBSs did it would be like saying a single drop of cement turned the ocean to cement.\n\nBut something did. Something turned the market from liquid to concrete, it happened in France decades before......\nFinancially packaged items could no longer be priced or traded.

I'll take these people who want to be here over America hating liberals. Can we trade?
|
| 2025-03-03 | 0 |
We also don't have a government, we have a PM hiding behind a barricade of gibberish in the PM's office because an old fool prorogued the house. The newly crowned Liberal leader isn't even an MP, and Miller is supposed to be the immigration minister, not the foreign affairs minister, the trade minister. What gibberish from a fool.
