I lived in minus 39 in Canada in December and January lately.

FYI I know for a fact( working as interpreter in various courts) all these illegals have practically free medical insurance. Me as an USA citizen I must pay for it \nAlso any arrested for felonies are left out on a bond without a court date. In accordance with what the county clerks/ Gwinnett Co GA/ told me they might be scheduled anytime between 6 to 12 months most likely very late.

Pricing is not a Canadian specific problem. Look at anywhere people actually want to live in the US, it's essentially the same. LA and NY are just as expensive as Toronto. Only difference is there's less people in Canada that live in rural states like Iowa where everything is cheap because there isn't major city for hundreds of thousands of miles. This is all part of late stage capitalism and our inability to see past the short term. Corporations eventually take over if we don't do anything about it and everything becomes too expensive. People stop having kids so the government needs to increase immigration to support what few social systems we have left. 1. Canada's immigration is primarily skilled labour. Non- skilled labour is imported mostly from the Carribean countries especially Jamaica and you have to leave every year and come back in the next. So, that can be disruptive, but I've met Jamaican's who've been on those programs and done well as well as those who haven't.\n2. If you come to Canada illegally utakipata. Be prepared to hustle for long.\n3. Since Covid everything has become very expensive especially housing. \n4. The videos you've shown of people sleeping outside is because of an increase in the influx of refugees wanting to come to Canada. Refugee shelters are allocated money in the budget for what the Govt estimates will be the number of refugees they'll take in, but there's been an influx lately.\n- A point to note though, ALL refugees Canada received from Ukraine had jobs within 2 months. Why? very skilled labour.\n- Canada's refugee policy is much more lenient than in the US and thus most refugees have been coming to Canada even from the US. I landed in Toronto in 1984, it was clean, safe and affordable. I was able to support myself going to university in the early 90’s working part-time as a waitress. Tuition was much cheaper back then and of top of that I was able to get a grant from the government (which was scrapped I believe). I used to walk down Yonge Street late at night with friends until we reached College Street to go have breakfast at the Golden Griddle on Carton Street. I miss the Maple Leaf Gardens and the CNE Grandstand. There were no shootings at nightclubs when I went dancing. Then things started getting really bad, the cost of living and the violence skyrocketed so I decided to move to Quebec City at the end of 2014. I worked hard on my French and now I am a civil servant for the Quebec Government. I have no regrets. I am lucky to have known Toronto The Good. We live in Barrie Ontario, but have lived much closer to Toronto before. We are both in our mid to late 50’s and are planning on semi retiring in 3 years to New Brunswick. It’s very affordable and easy to retire there. As Ontario is extremely expensive, I can definitely see people moving out east in Canada as well as companies relocating there for the simple reason of affordable building rents or to build a new building for their business and offer jobs at a place where their employees can afford to live. I am also predicting that the populations in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia will see huge growth in the coming years.

Maritimer here: I remember going to a small town in Maine for my cousin's funeral a few years back (half my family is American), and when we were checking-in at the hotel, there was a couple taking their suitcases out of the trunk of their car. The man had a handgun tucked in the back of his pants, and I remember the feeling I got seeing it when he bent over. It was pure Fear. In my mind, this man could kill me or my family in an instance if he wanted to. To me, that was the scariest thought, it felt so wrong that it was normal to carry a weapon. \n\nMind you, we have guns in Canada, they are mainly used for hunting or gun ranges, and you need a licence, which you need to pass a test if you want to go hunting with it. I guess growing up in Canada made me think that guns are dangerous and should be kept away from people... so hearing about the children's safety concerns around guns.. is probably because to us, guns out in the public is inconceivable... even worse around children. \n\nWhen there's a shooting in Canada, it's not a feeling that is reserved for the town or city where it happened. While I identify and agree with the overall sentiment of this video, here is the problem Alina. As a somewhat successful tech person who came from nothing, I refuse to move out of a city to a culturally or globally lacking city due to “budget”. I tried spending time in BC and Nova Scotia in the capital cities. I could not spend more than a week in Saskatchewan. I can assure you that someone with decent skills and lifestyle would not be able to sustain their social and personal life, and mental health anywhere in Canada other than Toronto. If I spoke decent French, I’d say Montreal is a decent option. Vancouver is too lopsided as an international real estate haven, even though beautiful. So the problem is that Toronto is honestly the only city someone like me (and most my friends) would consider living in Canada, and we are all unfortunately being forced to move to the US. We are in our very early 30s so it’s still not too late to have a big move but none of us wanted to try out NYC or SFO much later than now. I hope things improve and we are able to move back to Toronto. But right now, unless you make $300k+, it’s impossible. And we are only able to make that money in the US (most of us). I left the city 20 years ago at the beginning of it's downfall. and have no desire to ever return. it was relatively safe back then, as long as you stayed in areas with people around you could walk home downtown late at night. that has totally changed. Lived in TO in the late 60s and it seemed a clean and safe city. My brother-in-law lived in TO for about 50 years and loved the place. My wife used to visit him often in the 70s and 80s and she liked Toronto a lot. We went again in 2019 for my BIL's funeral and I thought the place was a dump.

A somewhat depressing video, because it's an actually accurate portrait of the city, as it is. Toronto and Canada as a whole is governed by politicians and bureaucrats, who rely on experts opinion of what could be, if x,y,z all come together as envisioned. These pixie dust ideas are often aspirational, but sadly lack a base in reality. Slogans and cheerleading don't make things happen. Rarely is there enough funding to support implementation of these grandiose ideas, and somehow these same leaders ensure they get a chunk before anyone else, cause they have a standard of living to maintain. They just really feel for the pain and suffering of those who are not them. Toronto and Vancouver used to be Canadian examples, that those of us didn't live or want to live there could still be proud of. These cities also were viewed as examples to follow by other Canadian population centres. So the same issues keep reoccurring, because in abstract theory they could work. By the time reality shows that they are not working, it is too late, and too hard, and too embarrassing to change course. \nA very interesting video by a creator who took her rose coloured glasses ( we all have a pair just admit it), and sees what is and then says it out loud.

Hi Chorkor, my wife landed at Toronto airport last night as a student, she was questioned about why she was coming late since her school started on 5 September 2023. Enrollment forms and payment of full fees. The officer said he did not believe her so he seized her passport and told her that she must come back on Sunday to show proof of full payment of fees and also enrolled in the semester. Which she does not have honestly. Please what is your advice, on this? Can she go and claim asylum?

Of course, if you're successful elsewhere, why discard it to move to the West? Otherwise, this guy isn't saying wnything that's not alreeady known! He fails to understand that the quality of life is what you pay for. In developing countries, you don't get security, good publi education, utilities 24/7, a working government, no social safety net (aka welfare), etc and you're absolutely on your own. You can't discuss any one thing in isolation. The difference is day and night. Also, time is money and everyone has to be accountable and responsible with both. As an employer. would he appreciate his employees getting paid to waste either and get paid for it? A reason developimg countries aren't doing well is because they fail to understand this, hence the waste of time and everything running late and not as quality. If it was great, why are the developing countries' economies so bad. As an immigrant myself, I know, understand, and appreciate this and think until developing countries appreciates this, they will continue to struggle.

Hello brothers and sisters I’m seeing a problem here. The interest rate in the late 1970s and early 1980s interest rate was 12-18%. People\nComing now are in MUCH better financial condition then people who came then with nothing. The difference is two main things: many new immigrants don’t have the same drive and motivation that previous immigrants in terms of sacrifices such as not driving a mustang, but they also didn’t just settle for labour jobs, they used their brains and began business along side labour. Second thing is, the immigrant wants to see the result before putting in the work. If after getting out of the horrible conditions of India and coming to Canada, a country loaded with opportunities, you still have difficulties then you need to change your expectations and work ethic to match, if they don’t then don’t complain. Cost of living is not the issue, it is the false expectation that they give themselves. To be quite honest with you it takes most immigrants one generation not 5-10 years, so either start working smarter or wait to have this reflection of what Canada is like until you have lived here for 50 years.
