The GOVT WONT solve this problem because if they actually meet the 5M new houses target and the housing becomes more affordable, imagine what happens to the cost of the existing houses and the loans that go along with it! Many people have just bought houses at 3X the asking prices thinking they can sell it 5 yrs later and never actually to pay it off, all those people will be screwed and in banks will be screwed in return. This huge immigration was just to strengthen the vote bank and not really to improve the economy of the country. It's a very old political strategy and people still get fooled and vote for it. This issue of affordability is happening all over the world. Corporations and those who run them disproportionately keep all the money. But that doesn’t mean that Canada isn’t a great place to live and raise a family. It’s a huge country. The only thing the Feds can do is incentivize companies to set up shop in less desirable places and eleviate demand off of Vancouver and Toronto (the usual suspects and source for all those rental shortage b-rolls). Then, the neighbours in Moose Jaw will start complaining that their town is changing too fast.

The intro to the video kind of portrayals your biased doesn't it? You introduced the elections and who one and the state of Canada now indicating your biased that all of our problems are takings to political reasons. People are easily swayed with words sometimes opinions should to given lightly with all factors and not just the ones the help your opinion seem correct. You should include historical events that started the housing crisis in Canada. Even your graph only showed a spike of immigration intake but only AFTER covid but you sway the conversation to think the intake was so different when even your graph shows it stayed the same till covid. Number of those facts would have been more convincing to strengthen your opinion. Numbers are nice but not when it's placed in again, places that help make your opinion correct. In that case, only one side of the story and most facts are hidden this way. I enjoy the pictures though, nice editing. Lots of videos makes it more engaging and not lose people's interest

The government has caused this problem. It needs to get out of the way. Elect people that push for progress, it's not the liberal party. Promises from the government to build affordable housing, or subsidize housing will always under deliver and just cost everyone else more.

The problem is that the government does not turn off the immigration to India. The government needs to let the actual people who come here integrate and mix. The problem isn't always from a federal perspective. British Columbia fools elected a socialist government who have also created hardships with high cost of living, terrible health care, and housing bureaucracy. In fact, being a landlord is so burdensome, many are selling their rental homes because it's the only way to escape the cumbersome challenges of owning them. This is adding to the crisis because renters are being evicted in BC because people like us are getting out of the rental game. It's not worth it anymore.

Canada is a great place to live if you are a wealthy foreigner looking to park your money of unknown or questionable origin. Or possibly a retiree who scarcely ventures outdoors. For hardworking working- and middle-class people under the age of 50, regardless of where you live, where you were born, or what you do, your future is worrisome. About 80% of you don't want to know your future, if you haven't already figured it out. New leadership may help, but the problems go deeper than that.

Canada hid its inflation in the housing market for a decade. The economy appeared to be growing, and real wages appeared to be staying in line with the consumer price index, but it was smoke and mirrors. If you removed real estate, GDP was stagnant. Wages were actually falling behind and people getting poorer and poorer without realising it. That’s finally become unsustainable, and inflation is showing up everywhere. And the wages are still stuck. The country is sitting on hugely valuable resources it could develop had it not put so many self-created political barriers in the way, and having indoctrinated their population about it along the way. Separately, The healthcare system is getting worse, consistently ranking 2nd last in the OECD in terms of real results delivered. The biggest problem is that the country’s economy is built on immigration to drive growth, rather than productivity, efficiency, or innovation. The more people you bring in, the more housing you need, but they’re at the point that they can’t keep up and people can hardly afford housing anyways. It’s a recipe for disaster. I left Canada by coincidence, having met someone from another country and moved there. I’m glad I left.

When it comes to housing, Canada copied the worst parts of American suburbia. Zoning laws prevent density and public transit is almost non existent with people being dependent on petro. The United States has many of the same problems as Canada at a local and state level. The federal government can't do much to stop it. They need to decrease immigrantion while building more density to help smooth this out, but even the average Canadian has NIMBYISM that Trudeau can't fix.

There are ten million Filipinos in BC alone according to Stats Canada, more than this amount of Chinese and the latter group brought drug money into Canada buying real estates and increasing the price. This nation is very overrated beyond belief. I get that the nation has free health care. However, everything is insanely expensive from houses to mere groceries. Specially—in B.C.—rent crisis is an ongoing problem, causing young people to move from one AirBnB house to another. Because the government of the aforementioned province is really hapless and meek. Yes, there are not that many rental units available for young families and fresh-out-of college students. But, we will not build an ample amount of rental housing units for the poor and the young. How can people manage to start a family and a business? You have to come into inheritance to do that. Bad. Really bad.

This choice emphasizes large urban centre problems and large urban centre behavioural norms. I anticipate you chose Toronto because of the greater career opportunities available to you and your husband and perhaps you enjoy large urban environments. But most of Canada is not comprised of large urban environments, quite the contrary. \n\nI grew up in the Vancouver area. As a young University graduate I was forced to move about 100 kms away to secure career oriented employment. I moved to a small rural town surrounded by farms. I soon learned to adapt my aggressive city driving to a more relaxed pace and found people surprisingly friendly compared to the urban people I was accustomed to in the city. People smiled and said hello as you passed them on a sidewalk, that did not happen in the city. So in summary, for people who enjoy small town living their experience in Canada would likely be more positive and far less expensive. For an urban dweller, I would not recommend remote areas as some services and entertainment options are just not available. But for those who love the outdoors, there are many beautiful choices in Canada.

Imagine 2050. Most people who are 65+ today will be deceased. Most of their children have 1 or no children. 100,000 per year dead from drugs (that's at least 2,600,000). Now add the number of Canadian born who are permanently leaving. What will be left. Most importantly, according to the NDP//Liberals, my statements are all racist. There is no problem. I'm 68, born in Vancouver. My wife and I are leaving next year (by the way, she's a well-educated Filipina who can't wait to leave).

As a Canadian, my wife (newly married) is an engineer and really would make more $ in the USA. That said there are a lot of benefits of living here in Ontario. I think if housing, job market was a bit better (and of course weather) - it's much better. I’m 68-years-old and was born in Canada. I worked hard all my life. Now I can’t get a doctor. I’m told the problem is baby boomer doctors are retiring so not enough doctors. BS,the problem is the population is much greater than the resources needed to support it. Why are we bringing so many people into this country when resources such as heath care have been depleted?

I don’t think there would have been a Brampton if majority of white Canadians were welcoming to brown people irrespective of their nationality. Integration is only possible if there is a willingness to interact with new immigrants. This is not to say that immigrants who commit crimes shouldn’t be booted. There is an inherent problem of selective racism based on the skin colour in the Canadian society which is felt by the new immigrants and is the only reason they find comfort in their own people and stay together. Also, government should put a cap on the number of immigrants from one country like the US has done.
