immigration is the sold out left wings peoples way to please there corporate overlords. i am a hardcore union and labour guy flooding the work market with immigration workers limits our ability to negotiate for better pay meaning companies can take more.\n\ni am not against immigration in total to have growth in the west and fill in the birth shortfalls we need immigrants. but the amount the west has taken in is much greater than we can expect grow and only causes us to get homelessness and gettos while the haves struggles to raise wages. what the common man wants is reasonable figures of immigrations and due to the flood might mean the coming years 0 immigrants is on the table.

Landlords are taking advantage of supply and demand and over charge people. People I guess are saying F you! Were in a housing crisis and there are human rights laws . Peoples fundalmental rights under the code are being violated. I would say class action law suit against Canadian government. They increased immigration from 1x to 4x in a short period of time in a neglience way. I think Canadians are wimps compared to Americans...you know in the US everyone sues. Therefore rich countries should not increase their populations. Immigrants do not come to rich countries to be better ecologists than the citizens of those countries. Immigrants to Canada want to live like Canadians, as Canadians. The problem here is not that they will not assimilate to Canadian ways, but that they will. \n\n(2) Housing: with 500,000 new immigrants a year, housing starts cannot keep pace. The result: ever-inflating housing costs. Rich immigrants compound the problem. \n\n(3) Suburbanization: most of the new housing in Canada is in highway suburbs (over 80%), with their car-driven way of life. Once again, this is bad for the country’s ecological health. In addition, the result will be ever-growing geographies of nowhere. We will not be creating more Victorias or Quebec Cities. We will be creating more Surreys. \n\n(4) Downward pressure on the incomes of most people: the law of supply and demand is very simple: when there is a surplus of any commodity, that commodity becomes cheaper. When a commodity is scarce, its value rises. Labor is a commodity. Workers rightly do not want there to be a surplus of labor. Their livelihoods are threatened. \n\n(5) Future care of the old: the more people we add now, the more people we will have to take care of later, when their working lives are done. Adding immigrants now to pay for the care of the old is therefore a pyramid scheme. Eventually, in a generation or two, the population of the world is set to decline, and the well of immigrants will run dry. Canada should aim for fewer, rather than more, retirees – as preparation for that coming moment.

Great assessment. My wife left Vancouver 22yrs ago. It was bad then and has only gotten worse. Sadly the residents would rather smoke a joint than vote for a conservative govt and attend a church. Please learn the difference between refugees and immigrants. Canada needs immigrants to fuel its economy. Profofessionals come here in Canada ready to work and pay taxes while Canadians were educated for free (k to 12) and even availed student loans before even contributing to Canada's economy. Be specific with what immigration programs you are referring to. Some immigrants do not owe you anything for being immigrants in Canada. We came here fully equipped with education and skills, bringing our savings and ready to work and pay taxes.

As a child of minority immigrants, I do believe that the balance has been overstretched. Also, people coming to any country should want to fully integrate as much as possible. I don't see that going well presently either.

I’m an immigrant and my sister came in with student visa. To get here, she had to prove that we had the money to sustain her housing and food needs while also being able to pay for her tuition. So tell me why students were able to come here and be homeless. What went wrong there?

I don't think Russia is actively weaponizing migration against Europe. It's just that Russia doesn't care much: if the immigrants come live in Russia illegally, Russia will deport them; but if they want to go to western europe (with free housing, free healthcare, etc.) through Russia, then why does Russia stop them? For what? EU doesn't care about Russia's interests, why should Russia care about EU interest?

I'm an immigrant myself and I agree that the current infrastructure cannot support the amount of people coming in.\nThere is also a need to vet people more carefully, as otherwise we are just importing criminals (and their criminal relations)

It is quite convenient that this is only now happening come election time. They see that their defeat is inevitable, so they now try to meet the demands of Canadians. What I find very strange is that immigration is an issue ONLY in the western world . This is SUCH a puff piece completely one sided that dismisses legitimate concerns as the only reason being xenophobic......Canada has always welcomed people but it was done at a lot slower pace where people had a chance to assimilate and build a life. You can't add over a million people a year with different cultures and pretend it's going to be ok. Ignoring the massive housing crisis, it's a culture crisis. A lot of the people coming do not share Canadian values, period. Canadians are noticing a massive change in the country they love seemingly overnight. You go out in any city and you barely see white people anymore. It's jarring. It was made into an amazing country by certain people and now it seems new immigrants are treated better than citizens. Everyone is in favor of immigration done the right way, but that isn't what's happening and natural born Canadians have every right to be upset that the country is being ruined in a way they don't want.

If you travel through Indian villages mainly in Punjab, Mumbai, Delhi and Southern states every KM you will see study/immigrate to Canada. They will tell you it is very easy as you need to spend only INR2.0Million( CAD 35K) to get there and balance you can work there as part time. Majority of Indians coming to Canada is from low income families who want to become middle class in India . High time Canada regulate its student intake and restrict only to selected universities and courses and stop allowing part time work. High skill immigration is still ok as they are coming based on their merit and point threshold and definitely contributing for Canadas economic growth. Student intake must be controlled .

Canada’s quality of immigrants has gone down drastically over the years. That is the truth. While the US has upheld their standard, Canada seems to have slacked in that. That is the problem. I have met very few people against immigration outright. Usually most people have opinions on the methods. The last 9 years has been an almost unchecked immigration policy. That needs to stop. For immigrants to come here and be stuck in a loop like this not being able to support themselves is evidence of how sloppy the immigration policy has become.

Canada has a serious problem dealing with a large influx of migrants coming from India. I am American who just traveled to Toronto last week and noticed Indians are everywhere, literally everywhere. It makes me wonder why so I looked into some statistics which showed the number of immigrants coming into Canada from India is equivalent to the number of immigrants coming from many other countries combined. The immigrants who come here on student visa and do 3 jobs to survive are not a problem. Problem are those who pay big $ to come in. Why let doctors and dentists come to Canada when they are not allowed to work in Canada unless they spend 5+ years studying and giving licensing exams? Most doctors end up doing other things. Either fix the licensing system or change the immigration criteria.

As an immigrant to Canada myself, I have to state the obvious, the problem isn't just about immigration as it is about the total lack of discernment. Unlike what this government seems to believe, not all cultures are the same. Canada can and should give preference to immigrants from other democratic countries. When you import the third world, you import its problems. It's commendable to try to save everybody, but your existing citizens have to come first. Canada can't save the third world by becoming a part of it...
