That's bull. The government has never invested in housing the way they were supposed to be. I don't remember the last time housing was part of election debate. Neither at provincial level nor national level. Immigration is again used at the boogeyman to justify housing problems. Grassroots organizations have been saying for years that we have a housing problem, and since it wasn't a sexy subject for politicians, they never talked or did anything about it.

I've never been conservative or anti-immigration, but the situation is getting out of control. Canada has always been a country of immigrants, but in my country, Poland, that hasn't traditionally been the case. In recent years, the demographic landscape has changed significantly, and it's not just about our Ukrainian neighbors—over a million have arrived since the war. We're also seeing an influx of people from developing countries, many of whom come under false pretenses, enroll in private universities, or attempt to cross our borders illegally to reach Germany. Right now, we're at a loss, and the most frustrating part is that while we need skilled immigrants, we're instead getting unskilled individuals who don't even make an effort to learn the language. This isn't sustainable.

As a landlord - I had this happen to me .\n$35k in unpaid rent which I never got back after the tenant moved out .\nI learnt that the tenant had done this to 2 other landlords prior .\nIt’s a shame - my house was priced fairly and was a brand new home . There was no reason to pay other than greed .\nI have since sold the home and moved on : it’s one less home for people who can’t afford to buy at the moment to rent .\nThis stupid system needs to be overhauled .

Landlord Tenant board is a joke and should be called Tenant Board. Since PC govt came in power two housing minister have made situation worse for small landlords. There are less adjudicators than 6 years ago and applications take upto a year before learning takes place. Even then, any excuse by tenants is tolerated but landlord suffer. I will not invest any more in Ontario. It is a very very bad place and PC govt does not care. I do not know what housing minister does all day. Sad.

To put it briefly, everyone moves to different provinces for PR, just like I did when I studied in Toronto for two years. The CRS score for PR is significantly higher there, and there aren't as many easy possibilities, therefore students there relocate. The protest is taking place in Prince Edward Island, where I moved a few months ago. They are protesting for the extension of their work permit and the opening of those easy PR draws, which are currently paused. I moved here in order to obtain PR, but I worry that this protest is inappropriate. Because everyone must submit a statement of purpose (SOP) when applying for a visa to Canada, and in that statement you clearly indicate that you will return to your home country after completing your studies and working there. However, if this statement is not clear, the visa officer may reject your application, stating that they believe you will not return home after completing your studies and working there. In order to avoid having our visa applications denied, we always attempt to assure the officer that we will return home. You have no right to request a PR, an extension of your work visa, or anything else if you have made this statement of purpose plain on your own. If you're thinking about moving to Canada, always make sure that the government is in charge. When I planned, getting our PR was simple, and now that they've changed the laws and regulations, they have rights as immigrants, so nobody should fight against getting PR and a work visa, etc.

As a Canadian I can say I have no issue with immigrants or anyone trying to seek a better life as I am the son of immigrants. My issue is with our government taking in way more than our economy and infrastructure can handle at a time where it's already under strain. \n\nAdd to the fact they're almost all from the same race, it makes certain areas lose all diversity and a ripe ground for racist sentiments. It's not uncommon where I can be in a grocery store or restaurant and every single customer and cashier is an Indian. Most Indians who have been coming here are doing so by signing up for low-value courses offered by these diploma mills and they don't have the means to sustain their lifestyle here. What they do know is that they can earn an income through a side hustle by working as uber drivers or food delivery drivers during their free time. Most Indians who have been coming here since 2019 come here with the sole aim of getting a PR visa - education is just an excuse to get the visa.
