There has been way too many immigrants in all of western countries. It's the obligation of a government to make sure it's done in an intelligent, thoughtful manner. Any country should bring in people that make the country better, not use the resources of the people already there.

When I saw that this was posted by the Guardian my first thought was the article would be a narrative slanted heavily to the left. I'm glad to see that there was some accurate reporting, but also not surprised to see the usual left wing disingenuousness. For example it gives the impression that the Take Back Canada Reddit group was taken down because it was somehow racist, violent, etc., rather than the more likely explanation that Reddit, like most other big tech platforms no longer allows discussions that go against the political narrative. \n\nLet's not forget that The Guardian and those of their ilk are largely responsible for the mess Canada is in. They sold the Marxist narrative. They promote wokeism, and the idea that to have a contrary opinion on immigration is racist. Now they're trying to pretend they care. It's all BS.

As to why, all those immigrants don't start building new houses and apartments in some suburban extra land upon arrival??? I've always thought that immigrants must get a job in the construction industry 1st on arrival, for a while, unless they are highly specialized workforce - it's no-brainer, this way new houses can be ready already?? How is it not about population growth? Especially bringing in 1 million immigrants per year? Of course Canadian government Was not building a country or creating infrastructure or logistics for these type of numbers back in the 80s or 90s let alone the 70s!\n\nThey would have never thought that this many immigrants would be able to enter our country in a single year, bringing in immigrants is supposed to help our economy like bringing in doctors yet our medical system is so far behind and it takes five years on a waiting list to get a family doctor!\n\nLet’s not even talk about the educational system where we are servicing foreign students and not taking care of our own citizens, not only education is too expensive but to live above poverty, while going to school has kept our citizens from education!

My family came to Canada in the early 80s, invested over $200,000 for 3 businesses over 35 years, employing over 30 Canadians. That's what I thought immigration was, a contribution to Canada's growth in exchange for our citizenship. That Canada must gain something before I am allowed to live in this country. I went to Toronto Canada for a small vacation and thought I was in India with so many Indian people living there. It’s over crowded and the traffic is horrible.

I was living in Calgary for 6 months, I’m from the UK, and I thought it was great? Groceries was a bit more expensive I suppose, but eating out was cheaper, rent was a lot cheaper, and your overall tax is much better than uk. \n\nJust one example is the Airbnb I stayed in was 1000 pounds a month, but when I stayed in Airbnb in uk (much worse too) it was 2000 pounds a month.

In Montréal, before the 2000s, it was easy to move whenever we wanted and rents were affordable. We had a deep sense of belonging in our city districts and crime was low. Now everything has gone. You have to separate the cause from the act. The cause is the government policy. So why is the government promoting this policy? In the Soviet Union Josef Stalin made it his policy to move populations around so that there were no national majorities anywhere. In this way he was able to suppress around 130 million for decades. And when the Soviet Union finally did collapse, it was in the areas with a national majority (Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Azerbaidjan, Armenia, Georgia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kirgystan, Turkmenistan. It was no coincidence.\n\nCanada today is a dictatorship. There is no freedom of speech, no freedom of thought. Just look at what happened to the truck drivers during covid-19. Our university age children all hold US passports. None are planning on staying in Canada after graduation. One has already left for Europe. Why would any young Canadian with options elsewhere want to remain in Canada when mainstream political thought believes it sensible to flood the labor market each year with hundreds of thousands of people, the overwhelming majority coming from two countries.

So, hypothetical thought here. If the landlord cant pay the mortgage cause the tenant wont pay, then when the bank takes over, will the bank have the same problem as the landlord did or will the bank be able to have the tenant removed quickly?

bro thought being a landlord is a money farm. the girl is in the wrong for sure but we need her side of the story to fully understand the situation. perhaps she's doing what my friend had to just to finally get the attention from the landlord to solve issues in the building. my friend had to go 8 months not paying his rent (keeping that money separately to please lawyers) just so a landlord would get in contact with him about his apartment ceiling caving in forcing the dudes family to live out of their living room. this landlord just wants to retire, i bet the building has major issues thats being ignored.

How on earth do you just live for 4 years in someone else’s house and not pay rent? This is unfathomable to me. I have a rental property and so far, so good. I had no idea this kind of thing could happen. It makes me angry enough just watching this to have the thought of meeting them in the lobby if this ever happened to me. The law is too unfair.

I always thought we should pay Mexicans to stay in Mexico and make Mexico great. Instead of us paying for everything under the sun for them in dollars, we could have paid them in pesos to build housing, rec centers, community centers, churches, hospitals, roads, etc .. .. I'm all for helping people, and being charitable. I don't mind helping people but for God's sake we don't spend 80 million on a city budget for helping the homeless. Great assessment. My wife left Vancouver 22yrs ago. It was bad then and has only gotten worse. Sadly the residents would rather smoke a joint than vote for a conservative govt and attend a church. Forget about GOD can't be surprised when he forgets about you. That said Australia is not much better and getting worse by the day. The reason govts love immigrants is because they bring money in and are obivious to the local politics so the govts simply continue to introduce more and more corrupt policies every year. Even after they become citizens they remained divided on political thought because they tend to have a duality of mindset which says, if it all goes bad I will go back to where I came from. Meanwhile the local population is so busy applauding a PM like Trudeau who leagalises pot so they can be so stoned while there country is stolen right out from under them.
