I was born in bangladesh and lived 18 years of my life there, then I moved to The us which is where I went to university and spent the next 7 years of my life. Then in 2004 I moved to canada and spent the next 13 years there before finally moving to oceania. Let me tell you why I left canada, in the later years there I was noticing how much I was being treated like an immigrant yes I am an immigrant but living 13 years of your life in the country and not being treated like a citizen but new people come into the country brand new and are treated more like citizens then you are hurts a lot. When I was new in canada I felt much more welcome by my coworkers and the citizens then I did after living there for so many years. But there's two more major reasons I left canada and these reasons are just as big as to why. In vancouver where I lived, the homeless crisis as you may know about was getting out of hand, it was a major problem even when I first settled in vancouver but now people were scared to even go the store as mentally ill homeless people were terrorizing everyone. And the last reason to top it all off was that the prices for everything in vancouver were simply ludicrous, It was insane how high the prices went up and taking care of my family was a struggle. I moved in 2017 and never once looked back, where I am now everyone and everything is sane and it hurt to leave canada at first because of how long I lived there and the memories I had there but let me be very clear I do not regret leaving canada.

Ban all immigration for the next 25 years. Unfortunately (not surprisingly!) Canada has once again screwed over its citizens in favor of votes. The biggest problem is obviously housing, and while Canada has never in its history built more than 200K homes in a year, last year in 2024 Canada let in over 1M immigrants which equals 8 years of housing construction, while the Liberals have an immigration quota for 500K immigrants per year. Canada has to ban all immigration including International students for the next 2 decades. It will take Canada 20 years to build enough housing to increase inventory and lower the actual cost of housing, essentially bursting the largest housing bubble the world has ever seen.

I immigrated here back in 2019, by the time I became a citizen in 2023, I was just astonished at the level of immigration and international students. I hate how schools exploit them for cash, their education quality is so so bad, its unimaginable, and you can't blame the teachers even, each class is like 300-450 students. The quality of education is so bad in Canada, I don't know if it was good before but I can only imagine it was since these universities are well known here. Students loans have become a business for banks and lenders and I guess that gave the universities ideas on making a business out of exploiting poor country's wealth though international students.

One issue you did not talking about is the international students taking the Canadian universities space from the Canadian citizen students. Especially for doctorate degrees canada government allowed only 3% of Canadian student to enter to this program the same as for dentist, laws and other this is unjust, and discrimination against the canadine citizen students after all those international students are not Canadian citizen and their English languish is the second languish, why a Canadian citizen student have to go to USA or other countries and pay doubles fees in order to get in to those programs. \nI want the government canada in order to make it right approving 97% of Canadian student application for those programs in all universities in canada and only 3% application for international students. This will resolve the discrimination issue, the houses crises, and the shorter of Canadian citizen doctor’s in canada. ??

Altogether, the damage to this country by bringing in so many international students will cause Canadian citizens to immigrate elsewhere, including me at some point. It's hard to have this discussion sometimes as people will say you're being offensive, but really, I doubt the current climate of Canada is satisfactory for these overseas students either, their housing and job options here are poor and this affects Canadian citizes. If you go to places like Vancouver or Ottawa, it's completely unrecognizable to the unregulated amount of international students who are typically in poor situations.

I'm Canadian who took the same decision a few years ago, I've wasted 13 years of my life in Canada, I lost my money, skills, motivations that I brought with me. I left my grown up children there because I can't sell my values to get some Canadian dollars. We went to Canada to help and to have freedom, not to be discriminated and get hired in low-level jobs. I'm happy that I left and I enjoy the sunny weather most of the year in my home country even if I have little money. It was a wrong decision to be in Canada especially after I've seen high-school graduates got hired in positions that I've Bachelor's degree can't get it. I've been graduated from a Canadian college but still can't get those jobs. It's not acceptable to be a second-degree citizen just to get a blue passport.

I moved over there in 2014 with full rights as a citizen. My trade wasn't recognised. Canada has its own rules about everything. You need to have training to pour drinks in a bar wtf.! But yea I came wanting a better life and well thankfully I wound up in Calgary so eventually I had the money to leave. And come home where know having seen the Canadian shit show I'm killing it here. And not to lie I look old Canadian so I fit right in English is my first language and all that. And funnily enough it was the first time in my life where I could say fucking immigrants. It's a brutal place a brutal work climate and well there's a lot that's nice but when it's bad it's dog ear dog. We have bad economies, high inflation and a housing shortage and now there's pressure for more housing driving up the cost of living for citizens making them homeless. Real estate in Australia is expensive because the nation is highly successful and ordinary citizens are wealthy, and this includes real estate, plus with 3 billion middle class Asian's right above Australia the Asian economy dwarfs the US economy to insignificance. Job opportunities are dictated by the fields the economy needs - oil is insignificant in Australia compared to other industries. Geographic Isolation - Thank god the rest of the world is far away, as an Australian I wish it was further away. Air fares prior to pandemic were reasonable USA to Australia around $800 return - but this guy lives in Perth so to go 4-5,000km to the east coast will be expensive - on the east coast a one way ticket to another city can be had for around $50 to $80 - Again for Australians proximity to the US market is not significant we are focused on the Asian region. Natural beauty anywhere is amazing but I prefer a warm climate over a frozen one - The Canadian population is all centered around the US/Canadian border region the rest of Canada like central Australia is vastly empty. In conclusion I find many immigrants want to move from Australia to Canada is proximity to the USA but for Australians the US market or lifestyle is not attractive or important.
