Never comment on someone's weight. I have had several people from other cultures think that is OK. Also, never ever ask or assume a woman is pregnant. Even if you are helping her deliver the baby never mention it. I was a little bloated once and a new Canadian thought it was sweet to mention that it is exciting to see my little baby bump showing. It has very little to do with the cost of living. They just do not want to live in a DICTATORSHIP which is what Canada is.

This is not about only Indians overwhelmingly overpowering Brampton. You may call this town Mini-India based on your biased perceptions. Peoples looking alike, culturally and socially similar, speaking the same languages feeing safe, comfortable and less challenged and have tendacies to reside together in the same geographical locations.. This applies to all the communities. and this phenomenon exists all over the world. We have little Italies, Chinatowns, Mini Russias, Polands, Ukrains, Irelands, Scotlands, Mexicos flourishing in USA, Europe, Australia and Canada is no different. Our govts need to make deliberate efforts to plan the towns to make more them multi-cultural.

It's sad that so many Canadians have to move from their hometowns/provinces in droves to financially survive and get ahead a little. Unfortunately, the droves of people fleeing Ontario and BC are driving up prices now (to buy/rent) in other parts of Canada like Alberta and Atlantic Canada where this is having a trickle effect creating Albertans, Nova Scotians, etc. to be homeless and strains on their provincial healthcare systems. It's a sad state of affairs, and I do not think a politician can fix this, unless they start demanding more and curtailing the power of corporations. A big rebalance needs to occur, but it seems unlikely when politicians and business leaders are on the same side (aka corruption / conflict of their own interests). Canada needs a division between government and business which is the case in many Scandinavian countries.

Coming to Canada and setting up your own little cultural cities at the expense of the native population is so offensive. They would never allow Canadians to do that in any other country.

Self-inflicted negatives due to unmitigated greed backed by the provincial gov't. I liked TO and used to make regular visits. I'd stay in hotels or b&b's. Many b&b's shut down due to Ford's costly restrictions. That paved the way for hotels to almost double their prices. I can't afford it and very rarely visit. We 'little people' don't seem to matter to our so-called elected representatives anymore.

Oh, I would. I live outside of Vancouver and right south of here is the border and in a little town not very far away from the border. I could’ve had a three bedroom home that was 2000 ft.² for $800 a month. Right now my rent is over $2200 a month. It’s outrageous how high the rents are.

I have lived in Quebec, Ontario, Manitoba and now Alberta. Toronto was beautiful in the 60’s and 70’s then it started to change to what is now overcrowded, expensive and crime ridden. I would not choose it anymore. Winnipeg, Manitoba in the mid to late 80’s was lovely. People were polite especially in winter, when driving was challenging, friendly and it is very cultural. People would say it would be the best city in Canada if it was in the mountains. Now I live in Edmonton, Alberta a dirty city with a council that puts high priced, unaffordable recreation centres ahead of services that would benefit everyone. Now they want to increase the population to 2 million when it can’t afford to sustain the existing population of 1,568,000. The taxes this year have risen to 8.9% and house prices are expected to increase 6.5% for an average price of $458,000. I lived in Calgary, in the Fish Creek provincial park area close to the C-train and a good bus service to downtown. 45 minutes from the mountains and Kananaskis, great zoo, vibrant downtown and if it is not much more expensive than Edmonton and is ranked 7th best city to live in worldwide. To compare the 2 cities, Edmonton tries to be world-class but just doesn’t have what it takes. The people seem to have very little pride in their city, the parks are a mess of weeds which also grow wherever there is green space and they very possibly have the worst and rudest drivers in the country. Very sorry if this offends anyone.

Well blaming the federal government over the housing? Really that falls under provincial jurisdiction. In Ontario the building code was changed and new developments have less affordable houses built. Inflation started when Russia invaded Ukraine not just here, Europe as well as Australia \nSorry when you have primers of provinces fighting about money they want to provide for housing.. the federal government bypassed Ontario to work directly with municipal government. \nSorry air Canada and west jet and grocery stores all had little competition since before his election

The question is this … how are the Brampton residents contributing to the economy? Are they homeless ? Are they unemployed ? If not quit the line of questioning . In an earlier period there were communities of many European nations everywhere . Greek town , little Italy , Irish communities etc. Also Many China towns across the country . Little late to the conversation, but i only recently discovered this channel. I can agree with the majority of opinions in general, politics, guns, healthcare etc are all better here in Canada. Sure there may be safe pockets in the US but that’s not typically an issue in Canada. You don’t need to strategize where to live here based on that stuff, but may need to take into account the weather as it drastically varies within Canada. \nMoving to the US would typically be based on a job opportunity and likely wouldn’t provide much choice in location - go where the work is and unless it’s opening a small shop somewhere or working in a rural setting, you’re likely going to be in a bigger city where the majority of the violence is. Even so, with laws like ‘stand your ground’ you could get shit anywhere if you piss off the wring person. In Canada, you might yell at each & flip them off, then you just walk away without concern of being shot. You might get jerseyed though. ?

Reality is that white people don't make kids anymore and if it wasn't for immigration the sociale system would collapse. Would be interesting to see what people would say if government say we'll put and end to immigration and you'll loose half of your pension and salary, because that's what will happen. You get a grown asssss man for whom you didn't have to pay for education or infrastructure and on top of that you made him pay to come here, when gets a job he paies at least 1/3 of salary in taxes + has to support and swallow discrimination because his name isn't little Johnny

My perspective is a bit different…I grew up in Canada, I lived 4 years in Toronto, 1.5 years in Waterloo, 14 years in Ottawa and 3.5 years in Calgary…overall, just little over 23 years in Canada. I graduated from University of Waterloo and Masters from University of Ottawa. I have a strong educational foundation from Canada, which I am very proud of. I moved to Houston, TX in 2016 and my last 8 years of living in US has nothing but AMAZING!!! While living in Canada, i was never able to save any money. In my last 8 years of working and living in US, I am 90% done paying off my mortgage on a very nice 5800sq feet house in Sugarland, TX. I owe very nice 2024 Lexus and 2023 Mercedes SUV that I can only dream of in Canada…so Canada is good in so many thing (I do have a soft corner for Canada in my heart as I grew up there) but when it comes to opportunities and life style to its full potential…USA is way ahead of the game.

Our town has a walmart its a small town couple years back they put in a new manager the tone of the store changed over night now it looks like one family works that everyone else was transferred or helped to quit. bugged me a little but not overly then all the other stuff asd onto it in the news etc they hate us and just want the land

If their intention was not studies why canada give them visa. Canada actually can take interview or has facility to reject without reason. Canada is greedy to take 5 to 6 times more money from international students and so can give facility to citizens. If person become it is OK but country become greedy it is not great for region. Canada actually even not get the best talent of india they get average talent people who are little hopeless with competition.

If they say otherwise, know for certain they're lying.\n\nCanada's economy is suffering because too much income must be allocated for housing, leaving far less for everything else. The result is increased unemployment, which will only get worse as more and more mortgages are renewed at high interest rates.\n\nBottom line: Canada is being converted into a two tier society. Far too many reckless truck drivers on our streets and little accountability, while others get deported for far less

This is one individual that was working in a job he knew little about and was very inexperienced. If people knew more about the trucking industry and the way they operate they would be afraid to go out on the roads. Many companies run ads nonstop looking for drivers because they pay too little, the equipment is not safe and the law allows for ridiculous hours. Federal hours of service are 16 hours a day with 13 hours driving 1 hour work time not driving and two hours of breaks. After 70 hours the driver gets 36 hours off and it starts all over. This works out to work up to 70 hours in 5 days and then a day and a half off. What other profession works those kind of hours? How about making our civil service workers work that kind of schedule and see how fast they go out on strike. These hours are allowed under the law and are federally mandated hours of service. The 36 hours off is often spent on the road sleeping and living in the truck not at home.

I want to know about the trucking company owner who should be penalized for hiring a novice tasked to drive such a huge load with little experience. And yes, Sidhu needs to be deported. His son can go with him. No need to separate them.

He knowingly broke Canada's laws when he got behind the wheel of a semi type that he wasn't licenced for. He did this while not being a citizen. What would he do if we let him stay and he became a citizen?! He disregarded Canada's laws from the start and this needs to be factored in.\n\nAs well, I have little compassion for how his family might be ripped apart because he had no compassion for how many families he may tear apart by getting behind the wheel of a semi he wasn't licenced for, and in the end, he tore apart MANY families.\n\nI have compassion for him as a human being, but he should not remain in Canada.

It's a stretch to imagine that Punjabis (likely Sikh) would be cooperating with the Modi government (Hindu) to assassinate Nijjar, given that the Khalistani movement base is Punjab. Does anyone else think that these 3 men in their early 20s look too old for their ages? They look to be in their mid-30s. Can someone explain to me why foreign students on visas DON'T require police record checks? That seems like a little more than just a stupid oversight, or misplaced trusts.

These guys are taking over little by little. There has been a massive increase of these people in my city. I hope that my city doesn't turn into a Brampton in the near future. If things get really bad, I'm going to have to find some other country to live in.
