I'm amazed by the check list that goes on in people's minds. You can't predict the future and even your Soviet union stopped at 5 year plans. I left Canada on a whim in 1994. I never thought I couldn't come back if I wanted or needed to. My bet is you met a guy in Serbia (let's say) and want to be in a reasonable place where it's financially possible to build a home and start a family. Canada has seriously failed the 33 year old demographic, that's the truth, and doesn't deserve your gratitude. Any civilized country gives its young people opportunities, Canada was not unique in educating you and letting you believe that the future was promising

I was a soldier, was deployed and thought I was fighting for Canadian values. Now I sit at home and watch as my country crumble down around me. I'm a wounded/mildly disabled Vet. I got wounded again back in Canada by getting my leg stabbed/slashed. I waited 4 years for imaging, and routinely have to wait 2 weeks to see a doctor for a 5 minute visit. Bombed-out roads in Syria are no worse than the pothole-infested streets. Under the streets, we have failing water mains.\nOur current government has no compass, we have no direction and our priorities are random and trivial. I have started referring to our country as Can'tada due to the seemingly endless things we can't seem to do.

Agree with the mass immigration has screwed things up...I am PR turned Canadian citizen now....the things are gone worse in last 2 years....I am not against immigration as I am PR immigrant too...certainly Canada needs skilled workers but the things getting worse by mass immigration masking skilled work immigration...Woking hard contributing to the society and country all it matters...but I can't see all my tax money going to refugees and asylums....this should stop.. immigration needs to be halted and country should go to repair mode else it would a let down for future generations and there is no stop for Canadians migrating to other countries for better life...india thought culture to the world...whats going wrong...respecting culture and people is what we indians are...

I always thought Trudeau is the Sunnyboy and so modern and makes Canada so more liveable. Or ist there a gap between the stories you've been told by the media and reality?

I was considering to move to Canada from Vietnam early this year under the SUV program. However, I decided to stop the process 2 months ago after thoroughly thought.

Wow, so very much of what you said is exactly the same for me. I also have been researching and for years about other countries and the possibilities to live in another country. I have lived in several-working, studying and travelling and have recently chosen what I hope is my long-term country. I will share that I have learned not to say permanently because things can change and quickly-Thailand and income tax, Turkiye and cost of living, Cambodia and corruption and crime, etc. All the best to you and I am looking forward to hearing all your thoughts and decisions. I left 1999 and returned 2223!!! OMG! It sucks! This is not the Canada I know. I'm here for my son who is going thru cancer treatment. He never wanted to leave Canada. My other son left for Australia & my daughter in Boston. They will never return!!!1 in 5 ....no fam. docs. Emergency is a nightmare. Most docs are young immigrants who are in meds to fulfill family dreams....dismissive, perfunctory, no critical thought processes etc. Housing sky high....I tell everyone to leave!!!!!

It's honestly getting tough to live anywhere. Global inflation is everywhere!! I live in The United States, and it's no better here, it's worse. There are many times I have thought of moving to Canada, because I'm so tired of the safety issues in this country. So tired of republicans stripping the rights away of the common people except for guns. They believe in everyone to carry any kind of weapon possible and it's killing our kids. I am tired of it. I would not convince anyone to live in my country right now, unless they want to live in a place that will be an authoritarian state in 5-10 years if the wrong people get back into power.

It has been about a year and a half since the idea of leaving my home country occupied my thoughts. The country I was in born has a great living standard. Crime is almost negligible. Dr*gs are common, but you can live your life totally unaffected by it. However, we live under a dictatorial monarchy. In my country, public domain of life is non-existent. It's such a degrading thing to realise about your life. If you are born in this country, it's as if you agree to exchange any kind individualising characteristics in you for decent living standard. Have no opinions, have no stances, and you will live well. The government is ruthless. You'll be sent to prison for decades for professing the wrong political orientations or religion which the government doesn't approve of. Even possession of certain books may end your life.\nSo I've been thinking of leaving to somewhere on this planet of ours where there is a public realm, where you can live, without having to supress yourself completely so no malicious attention follows you home.

I thought for a second that one of you finally got it but NO ! America is a continent, not a country, stop calling United Statiens, Americans ! The name of your country is the United States, making it's citizens United Statiens. US of A is short for The United States of the continent of America. Don't take my word for it, listen to the US government. Look at a US passport. On the cover it says US passport, not American passport. Inside it says that the barer of the passport is a US citizen, not an American citizen. United Statiens calling themselves Americans is an insult to all the other countries on the Continent. One last thing, yes, the fact that the US is on the continent makes United Statiens, Americans but that being said, it also makes every Mexican, an American. So why is Murika trying to Keep Americans out of America !? And don't get me started on the stupid term that Murika created so they could keep being racist and that is African American, Again, like America, Africa is a continent with many countries on it and I refuse to use a stupid term invented by racists. I am white and you two are black.

I just stumbled across this video. This is my first viewing of one of your videos and it was sad and painful to watch. I was born in Canada to immigrant parents. I grew up on a farm in Alberta. Listening to your memories of growing up resinated with me as that was my experience as well. Fast forward to today, my husband and I left Canada in 2022 and are currently in Mexico. We have thought about a return to Canada but the reports really don't give us hope. We will likely move again someday, but Canada isn't high on that list until something changes. I will look forward to seeing where you have chosen. Thank you for the honesty in this view.

Sorry to hear the country you live in and love is not what it used to be. It's the same here in the U.S. If you would like to live in the U.S. I have been watching and enjoying your videos for several years now. I hope wherever you move to you will enjoy it and have great success. Then Canada should’ve thought this through and should’ve attracted the right kind of immigration talent like doctors and economists. It would’ve been a win-win situation for the Canadian people and the immigrants.

I saw a movie once where this guy wouldn’t come out of the building he was in. The authorities tried talking with him, negotiating, cajoling him etc etc. finally they sent in a robot with 20 pounds of C4 strapped to it. Guy refused to leave, refused to leave, refused, refused…. Then there wasn’t enough of the guy to argue with. Totally random thought. Nothing to do with this video. I just thought of it. It was a good movie. I wish I remembered what it was called.

Visiting foreign countries is one thing, but living in a foreign country is a different thing, especially if you're not born and raised there. Every country have the good parts and their issues. Good luck with your decision, and always remember your roots. Having travel to many parts of this world and experiences I'll never forget, never give up your Canadian citizenship. After trying to make up my mind to move to a foreign country, I discovered my home is where my roots are. This is where I returned to and this is where I'll stay now with no thoughts of ever leaving again.

We are planning to leave Canada as well! We thought our retirement would be great but watching the bank account dwindle away tells us we have to get our! Both born here and been here all our lives! Thanks Trudeau you win, we are leaving

Sad to see another fine Canadian packing up and leaving the country, never thought I`d ever see anyone wanting to leave Canada, heartbreaking, have you heard about the tax they want Canadians to pay just to leave the country if you`re moving elsewhere? I heard it was $25,000!

Feeling the same way here, as I know many Canadians are. Thought I'd retire to Europe when I was ready, but now looking for ways to make that happen sooner.

From Poland. Arrived yo Canada at the end of 2020. I am nearing my 4th year here, in a small village. I arrived with my 6-year-old daughter to begin my writing career. Now, 40% of my daughter's childhood has been spent here and I I go to court soon to fight for my child to be returned home to me. After nearly one year- a year of financial hardship because I have to travel without a driver's license and without a group of friends to drive me- I have my very first hearing with a judge in Youth Court in a matter that has no foundation to begin with, follows no rule of law, and acts arbitrarily. My child whom I homeschooled to the praise of the provincial ministry of education and was following a classical liberal arts education path that had her outpacing students in the province was entrusted to the care of a Child Services company (that has a record of placements that have resulted in child murders). My child's life has been irrevocably upset to say the least. NO ONE LEAVING CANADA GIVES THIS STORY AS A RESON FOR QUITTING THIS COUNTRY. I guess no Canadians care about their children like I do my precious gift from God. True, O come from the former Soviet Union where Marshal Law (Emergency Measures Act) were commonplace. I lived through two in Canada in 4 years: one Federal, and one through Provincial Youth Court where I await my turn to see a judge after my daughter was removed from my care. People do not know they have no biological ownership of their children, because I guess few Canadians value their children to care about their own laws. But these laws also apply to immigrants too. What money was taken from me during the move and resettlement, the government takes by creating more expenses for me than I could ever imagine or budget for. Emotionally, I am a wreck. Rather than commencing my writing career, I have been seeking low-income lawyers, reading the provincial law on Youth Protection, filing complaints within a circular system (the watchdog is part of the system not outside of it) and preparing all evidence to prove I have done nothing wrong [just like in communist rule]. Have you ever given any thought to the difficulties in proving your innocence? \nNO ONESEEMS AWARE OF THIS DETERENT TO BRINGING CHILDREN TO CANADA. NO ONE. IT IS THE ONLY ONE I COULD NOT PLAN FOR. All other complaints like the economy, or the weather, or inflation I have survived. But taking away my child, my reason to settle in Canada for a life of freedom for her, my legacy, was unthinkable. People ask me in this small village where is my daughter. Their rosy cheeks become snow white when I tell them. Canadians here are unaware and scared like cattle in a thunder storm. Many are addicted to welfare payments, cannabis, prescription drugs, and television. They all seem to be waiting in a pen of fear. I am stuck here now, with little financial resource to fight for my child's life. It is unfortunate that no one will read my comment because it is an inscrutable wall of text or too frightening. Unless someone reads it, no help will come for my daughter. (Because she is a dual citizen, the local Polish Ambassador will not step in - another drawback for having a Canadian passport). Goodbye now.

My thoughts? Sure, why not, you're welcome. My thoughts are that you actually may be the master of suspense. That said, those remarks of yours on the state of your home country sound valuable to me. But then again, wouldn't it be nice if could give us a bit more than just anecdotal evidence? Just saying, no worries. (Although, having skimmed now a lot of the comments, I must say they are quite overwhelming.)

My research, cause a lot of us have thought the same thing, is that it is not much better around the world. Much of the same issues that are destroying Canada are global and although some countries do it marginally better it is the same most other places. Don't get me wrong I wish you luck and the best but I just don't believe the grass is much greener elsewhere.

Canada is no longer great. As a third generation Canadian, I was always so proud of my citizenship and thought I was lucky to have been born in the best country in the world. Well, I no longer feel that way. This country is turning into a third world shithole. I want to leave sooo bad but where would I go? I'm 59 but If I were younger I would leave. Can't wait to hear where you will move to.

I saw your happiness when you stayed with that family, in Bulgaria, I think. Remember that young man who shadowed you around their farm. Beautiful scenery with mountains in the background, and that unique wooden chapel. I thought you could start a general store there, with teas and coffee bar of your own! IDK, just had a thought about this place when I saw your video about that place a couple of years back. My biggest concern for your safety is that you find a place that is free of war! Canadians are paying a deep price for their naivete electing a self-serving narcissist to run the country. Everything collapsing in your face. Once the government changes next year, everyone will realize that the situation is likely 10X worse than they thought. Leaving Canada is certainly sad but good decision. I so understand! My husband and I have been nomading for the last 12 years and are now getting tired of constantly moving. We've decided to settle in Spain for now. Got a visa for three years. But we still don't know where to actually live long term. We can't afford to live in the US anymore. Not only housing, but the basic expenses like clothing, groceries, car and gas not to mention healthcare, which is prohibitively expensive to even only pay for insurance alone. \nWe have been priced out even though we always thought of ourselves as middleclass, professionals. Luckily my husband can work remotely.

I did not know about your history with Russia / Ukraine. Could you please make a video about your thoughts about the war and if you still have family in either of those countries?

I think all things are possible when you are young and healthy. As someone with an unexpected chronic disease that showed up in my 40s I'm on immunosuppressants that are very costly. Thank God the gov't here covers them. With treatments every 6 weeks I have no freedom to leave. While that's taken care of, access to a family doctor or emergency care is horrible. Waiting a month for a doctors appt or having to spend 10 hours in emergency is not okay in a developed country.\n As a citizen you have Canada as a safety net, so its no big deal if you move and don't like it. I'm not sure where is safe in the world right now. A lot of people moved to Equador, and then boom the violence got out of control. Just my thoughts on things.
