Immigration is a privilege, not a right. It’s their country, their rules. \n\nI’m an international student too, and I’ve worked in the U.S. for 3 years on post-graduate work VISA on a high-skilled engineering position. But I failed to get my U.S. work visa since it’s a lottery process. Despite wanting to stay, I have no grudges against possibly leaving. It’s their house, it’s their rules.

if you rented a car and don't pay or machines, tools or appliances (though most of the time you have to pay up front), they have option to chase you up with additional fines and send to debt collection even after you've returned the item if you didn't pay up upon return. But rents arrears don't usually remain after tenants moved out because landlord are not companies able to chase them up.

Because I live in Atlanta and my son is homeless in Charlotte and he was homeless in Atlanta and all I see are homeless people lying all over the streets! I'm sure they've asked for housing but they're not getting any! What the f*** is going on!!!! I've never been conservative or anti-immigration, but the situation is getting out of control. Canada has always been a country of immigrants, but in my country, Poland, that hasn't traditionally been the case. In recent years, the demographic landscape has changed significantly, and it's not just about our Ukrainian neighbors—over a million have arrived since the war. We're also seeing an influx of people from developing countries, many of whom come under false pretenses, enroll in private universities, or attempt to cross our borders illegally to reach Germany. Right now, we're at a loss, and the most frustrating part is that while we need skilled immigrants, we're instead getting unskilled individuals who don't even make an effort to learn the language. This isn't sustainable.

I've been a landlord for many years, I've been through a few very bad tenants, out of 8 houses i rent out 7 have fantastic tenats, the one thats always late and is running down my property I've tried to evict for 5 years but he then catches up with rent and cleans up the yard and the cycle starts agian! I would say in my 20 years renting that only a very small percentage are bad but they can couse you alot of grief and money!

It's time for landlords to take the Province to court; they've allowed this to happen...this is subsidy by force.

I've got behind on my rent in the past. \nI lived out my last month's rent. \nI'm sorry to the landlord I couldn't pay $2,400 in 2 months. \nBut I left so I gave them no further aggravation and problems so we could all move on. \nI put myself on the street and lost everything. \nEventually I got back on my feet got my own place. \nNot keeping these good landlords supporting me. \nI love this man he sounds like a good man good luck sir you're the kind of immigrants we need in this country to have full-time citizenship you work so hard to get where you are today❤

In Manitoba it’s a little bit easier but the RTB is such a drawn out process. \n\nYou need to have justifying grounds. Easy. They didn’t pay. You have to serve them their termination, with a minimum of five business days to vacate. This is where it gets tricky. You have to attempt at least 3 times on different dates at different times of the day. Usually around 7:00 AM, Noon, around 7:00 PM. If that fails. You have to pay to be allowed to post the notice on the door. After that you have declare they’ve been served. Then book a hearing which can take a month or more. At the hearing which can take hours or minutes depending on how well prepared you are, or how much the tenant wants to argue. \n\nOnce the hearing is concluded. It can take 1-2 weeks to get the final decision. If they’re told to vacate. They usually have 5 business days before you can involve law enforcement. Which then takes another week for them to show up. Finally the landlord can change the locks. \n\nExcept, the tenant can then file an appeal. And take the landlord back into a hearing which can take another month. If the tenant fails to change the verdict it’s final. Then you need permission from the RTB to send them to collections, which can then take months if ever, to get the money back.

You play with those countries politics and can't handle the consequences you've made.

When my son and his friends come home from university and can't find a summer job, we've got a problem. Especially when those potential jobs are being taken by non-Canadian students who've been here sometimes less than year.

The delivery guy is obviously one of those people we meet, who is an ass, and when he spoke to the customer like that. Is when he erupted. As in previous experiences. I’ve met delivery men like this. They think they are tough until you respond, and show your toughness. This delivery guy started it. I am from Poland, a country which is attacked by weaponized migrants. We have never invaded anyone, or been bad to anyone. We've been the victim throughout the last 200 years. We've clawed our way to prosperity very slowly but diligently, and now we are expected to just allow everyone into our country, without them respecting our history, language and traditions. We are a monoethnic society, and thanks to that we are one of the safest countries in Europe. And it will stay that way. Not a single illegal migrant will cross our border, and Poland will never change into a migrant hellhole like the UK or France. We will defend our country, as we once did against the Nazis and Soviets, so will we defend ourselves against forced change of culture and banditry.

I’m from the UK, where we face similar challenges along with other issues that Canada fortunately does not have. If housing, jobs, healthcare, and education are not adequately addressed, people can become hopeless and susceptible to manipulation by far right extremist groups. It takes 18-25 to build a mid rise condo, 9 month a roll of townhouse. We’ve been talking about housing crisis for years. Why don’t the additional labours been hired to build more houses?

I live in Niagara Falls all my life. I can’t afford to keep my self and son fed without assistance or barley keep the lights . 10 mins away they are living in hotels, getting food, diapers. Hygiene all for free as well as a monthly pre paid card or cheque from 1800-2800 a month… I’ve lived here and payed taxes for over 30 years. Where is my help?

I got laid off 5 weeks ago ( no renewal of contract).. after 7 years working for that NFP.. I applied for snap and unemployment… while applying for jobs( social worker field)… first, they ask for so many documents… including my bank account….( again I was laid off .. not fired nor left my job, nor finding reasons not to work all those years ), department of labor had a mandated zoom meeting to discuss what I needed to do 4 weeks after I was laid off( like i don’t know)… I ve been working for years and paying taxes… a lot of them in NYC, I was also told that I have to show what I am doing to search for work and eventually should take a job( even if the salary is low..ridiculous)… I was also informed that I may get a call from investigator from DOL..they may call individuals receiving unemployment benefits($441 a week after taxes?)… to verified that I was searching and applying for jobs( even though I enter my activities related to work weekly on their website…..)….. meanwhile… people with 0 legal documentation are entering the US and living here, free snap, free housing, free health insurance!!!! Lala land!!!! Can’t wait for this non sense to stop!!! Every corner of NY , you see families begging for money. Food…I feel bad as a human being, but refuse to help or I ll be joining them too… welfare system needs to change too! The politics NEED to change!!!All the best !

The student visa is being falsely advertise as a way to get permanent residency status by school operators. Here in Calgary, I see different so called schools operating in small bays on the ground floor of high rise buildings, almost the size of a convenience store. Now in NL, foreign students are protesting, demanding that they'd be given PR status, because that's what they've been told after finishing their studies.\n With regards to housing affordability problem, do these politicians know anything about the Law of Supply and Demand?

********Important**********************Since I've been living in Canada for more than two years, the immigration protests you mentioned have occurred. To put it briefly, everyone moves to different provinces for PR, just like I did when I studied in Toronto for two years. The CRS score for PR is significantly higher there, and there aren't as many easy possibilities, therefore students there relocate. The protest is taking place in Prince Edward Island, where I moved a few months ago. They are protesting for the extension of their work permit and the opening of those easy PR draws, which are currently paused. I moved here in order to obtain PR, but I worry that this protest is inappropriate. Because everyone must submit a statement of purpose (SOP) when applying for a visa to Canada, and in that statement you clearly indicate that you will return to your home country after completing your studies and working there. However, if this statement is not clear, the visa officer may reject your application, stating that they believe you will not return home after completing your studies and working there. In order to avoid having our visa applications denied, we always attempt to assure the officer that we will return home. You have no right to request a PR, an extension of your work visa, or anything else if you have made this statement of purpose plain on your own. If you're thinking about moving to Canada, always make sure that the government is in charge. When I planned, getting our PR was simple, and now that they've changed the laws and regulations, they have rights as immigrants, so nobody should fight against getting PR and a work visa, etc.

I'm an immigrant to Canada. I've been here for 35 years (came here when I was 6). The current immigration/migration/ayslum seeker rates have gone completely insane. It isn't racist to think it's gone overboard. I went to very very multicultural schools. I grew up in Toronto and have lived downtown for 20 years now. I love our multiculturalism but there are limits to immigration if there simply isn't an infrastructure to support countless hundreds of thousands of people trying to move into the city each year. It's not sustainable at all. The roads aren't getting bigger, the housing zoning isn't getting easier, new hospitals aren't being built. You cannot try and cram 4 million people in a city built for like 2 million people. People moving to Canada simply do not realize just how absurdly expensive this place has become. What's the better alternative being poor in India or being poor in Canada? Because unless you are making 100k a year you are going to basically be poor in Toronto.\n\nThe big big difference as someone who has lived downtown Toronto for 20 years is now the homeless are very multicultural. 10 years ago it wasn't like that as much. Now people from every race and every background are at risk of homelessness. It's a rate race, it's a very competitive city for housing and jobs and as soon as you aren't in making $$$$$ you will fall behind.

A Sri Lankan who always gets misidentified as Indian reading the comments here. ? I moved here with the genuine purpose of studying for my LLM, after considering several countries. I was offered a scholarship from my university (a top ranking public university) I know several of my Indian colleagues who came to study & now work in universities & firms. I know educated people who came here from SL, India & other South Asian countries who came to study with the genuine purpose of studying & now pursuing PhDs here & elsewhere. I understand how concerned the whole immigration issue is for Canadians & new commers like us. I’ve always loved to study in Canada & now that I’m here just to see all these negative sides is truly heartbreaking. I was able to secure a decent apartment & decent job (both me & my husband)& so are my friends & colleagues. I love Canada & means no harm. I’d love to use my knowledge & serve developing countries like mine one day. I kindly request anyone reading my comment, please don’t judge. There’re people who came here to study & love to contribute their knowledge & skills to the world. Thank you.

Maybe Canada should care about its own citizens who’ve had to move abroad for a better life like me…it’s great when you have 2 degrees, 26 years of working experience and don’t qualify for any benefits and not even Walmart will give you a job because they think you must joking!

The guy from India was 100% correct. I've traveled India and seen huge billboard ads to sell students a dream of moving to Canada. But it's totally unrealistic. The higher education in India these days is easily as high quality as education in Canada.
