I always find it interesting and funny how these stories never actually go into WHY this is happening and how we got here, lol... like, it's almost as though they don't want us to think beyond reaction fever, and there's zero accountability to the decision makers, e.g. corrupt politicians and foreign investment in cahoots together, along with the banks, the oil and gas sector, and the rest of the multinational fat-cats who've eroded the middle class and leveled the small business economy.

As a fairly liberal Canadian, immigration is the only subject that makes me move to the center-right politically. We don't have the ressources to feed, house and care for 1.5 million new people every year, much less the Canadians already here. Justin Trudeau has been hurting the country with his open door migration policy because he's too scared to lose his brownie points from the far left. Any other politician is too scared to say anything negative and concrete on immigration because it's considered political suicide, but the tide is changing with Canadians. We don't want anymore would be asylum seekers or foreign students working and overstaying their visas because WE CAN'T EVEN TAKE CARE OF OURSELVES ANYMORE. Yes, our birth rates are too low and we need some immigration to help close the population decline gap that will eventually come, but it can't be a free for all. We can barely afford rent, groceries, healthcare, etc. now and I fear it will only get worse in the coming years. At this point, as an early 30 something year old, I will never own a home or even be able to move without dishing out 60-80% of my income for rent. None of this is viable long term, we're reaching the point of criticality

I was really lucky to visit Toronto in 2000-2002 and practice some Portuguese and Italian. The first time, I came by train from Chicago and arrived at 1 AM. I was scared as I waited for the trolley on Dundas St. But to my surprise there was a young lady enjoying the late night and she even talked to me (something that wouldn't happen in Southern CA). I discovered that if was safe to walk until 2 AM in Toronto. It was really pleasant to explore Little Portugal, Chinatown and other neighborhoods. I remember that it hit the 30s with some humidity, but the reward was taking a bus to Niagara Falls at 50% off for being a student. However, I was sad to discover that the old transportation is gone, and prices have skyrocketed (food and hotels). It's not just Covid-19, but the corruption of thousands of politicians in NorthAmerica that have started wars and the flow of drugs and people. I would never think that Canada could change so drastically. But I still think that Toronto could be enjoyable ( what I really didn't like was the subway, since the stations are far away from important sites as opposed to Montréal that is so convenient). I still remember how Pearson airport was enjoyable to walk. But to see encampments like LA, SD or SF in Toronto is really sad. Hopefully, in the near future it gets cleaned up. You can't destroy what took decades to build and admire in a few years. Safety is always a concern in 2024, but Toronto is much better than CA.

There is nothing wrong with politicians being boring. One of the main pros for me is your free healthcare. I got a 5K hospital bill for 2 ER visits and the second one wasn't needed.

I entered college few yrs before covid and barely any international students were there. When I graduated not too long ago holy hell the campus is full of Indians. Insane numbers and they keep bringing in more people than they can hold. I'm a Canadian Citizen. Born and raised here. Went to school here from Kindergarten to College. Learnt French, Canadian history, etc...and today I have struggled getting a job. I have been unemployed for 4 months and my Government assistance E.I. still has not kicked in. I have not heard back from Service Canada after numerous attempts. It makes me wonder what ruins Canada is in due to the politicians.

Ive lived here 30 years and have never really liked it here but I pushed on. Toronto has become much more violent and rents have skyrocketed. It's not for the people anymore but I don't think it ever was. The people who live here know much more than the politicians who are ruining it.

Most governments and politicians around the world are corrupt and if you move to a third world country, it will be worse there. Second, religion was invented by man. What made Canada rich was the older generations, the country is still running on the steam of those previous generations. In general the entire west has gone SO far left that it's just not worth it to start a business and innovate when you know that all your profit will be taken from you in the form of taxes and given to the least productive of society which will collect welfare cheques. As a 3rd generation Canadian it is so hard to have confidence in my nations future. The politicians don’t care, and the country is rotting from the inside out. We have no future here, majority of my university educated peers have already moved to the US for better pay and career advancement, and business owners like myself have moved or are planning to move away from Canada.
