Can someone tell me if Canada is a good place to move for a couple of years? I'm from the UK but lived in Spain for most of my life. The reason I want to leave Spain is because the average salary is low and job security I.E work contracts are all terrible unless you're in a big city like Madrid or Barcelona. Plus I live in a tourist/ retired destination so work here is seasonal as we are only busy over the summer time and trying to meet people around my age 20, 30s is difficult. I've heard so many good things about Canada from people I know but looking into some more I'm seeing that there's a big financial issue for those who plan to move over as the taxes are very high. I'm just looking to come over for a couple of years, save some money and then move back to the UK. If anyone that has travelled to Canada for a few years could let me know what its like now that would be great ?.

Don't let them come! I know that there are some great Venezuelans out there but there are also some criminals who just try to take advantage of the situation. If immigration happens, it has to be in order and planned. Other SouthAmerican countries took the massive immigration as a way to help Venezuela and ended messing up their economies and lives of their inhabitants. The brain drain part really struck a cord with me. Canada spent tens of thousands of dollars subsidizing my education only for me to leave in my mid 20s to seek better opportunities in the US and get away from their housing crisis. I tried to stay in Canada but even the top companies had vastly lower pay compared to what I could find in the US relative to the cost of living. The biggest difference I've noticed living in Canada and the US is in Canada the smartest people I know are investing in unproductive real estate and in the US they are hustling to start/grow STEM startups. In my view, the worsening housing crisis in Canada will only exacerbate some of these stats in the coming years.

The trouble with Canada is that no political party is capable of simultaneously gaining power while also making the difficult structural changes that would make the country more competitive. Successive governments have pandered to the needs of baby boomers protecting their housing wealth, to the detriment of literally everyone else. Young Canadians head south where they can make 2x more money, knowing they can always come back when they are rich. It’s a terrible predicament with no easy solution.

As a citizen, I am very tired, and seeing those central Americans, South Americans, Haitians, Cubans, Europeans, Asians, and Middle Easterns come to Mexico to USA. There is no way to get in the US/Canada because you need to have legitimate valid papers. Especially to Central Americans and Venezuelans, they need to follow the laws. My parents came to the USA more than 50 years ago, and with proper documents. And for people who believe and blame Mexicans for taking their jobs. Don't! I know some do not have the legal papers, BUT blame the ones who don't follow the laws!!!!
