Every one of you that are criticizing immigrants needs to sit back and zip your lip!! Have you sat back and wondered why immigrants are flocking into your countries (?? ????)? Your political leaders or governments started wars or economic policies that negatively impacted those countries which triggered a huge migration! 10-15 years ago, there was less migration as compared to now. Wars disrupt everything and rob people of their dignity! \n\nIf you people did not start wars in various countries lot of people wouldn't take those dangerous journies to come and sleep in shelters! Go to my house and set it on fire ?, I will definitely move to my neighbor’s house. \n\nAdditionally, every one of you who keeps bashing immigrants, except you're an Indigenous in Canada or ??, your parents migrated after WWI/II for a better life in America or Canada and born you there or here. \nSo, next time, when you try to bash immigrants ask your grandparents or parents where they actually came from. Bunch of hypocrites!! This world is a beautiful place for everyone to live in it. If people were not full of greed, we would not have even filled 1/3 of the earth. There will always be migration and no one can't stop it.

I think the problem is RICH immigrants coming in and buying up everything, including real estate. The rich immigrants include Americans as well.

Immigration is not always a problem.\nThe government simply needs to be much more selective of who is allowed in, and from which countries.\nImmigrants into Western nations need to come from other Western nations, not the 3rd world. Compatibility matters.\nOn top of that, the immigrants need to be selected based on what they offer the host nation, NOT the other way around.

As a new immigrant to Canada, it was a dream of mine since childhood to come here. But after arriving here, I realized what a mirage this place is. I still love the country because its much better than where im from, but this is not the dream that was sold to me. This is not reality.

As an immigrant myself i complained about this 10 years ago .. this issue had been brewing since many years what we r seeing now Is just the result …govt marketed immigration very well but did nothing to increase the resources to match what was coming …medical school highway etc everywhere and every thing has been mess especially in toronto

I’m a Korean American who has lived here my entire life since birth. I have lived in many other places and the thing about immigrants is they ALWAYS share the same traits wherever they go. \nI live in an affluent area and whenever the immigrants from poor countries come in they all do the same things…throw trash and litter everywhere, the attitude of “I made it just like you therefore I deserved to be treated like a king”..telling them to turn down the music at 2am and not understanding why so instead you are met with argumentative resistance instead of them just saying “hey we’re sorry won’t happen again, we don’t want to be that guy in this neighborhood. Our apologies” but nope. They continue to do it night after night and the audacity to even get angry. The crowding of all of their families in disrepspectful ways such as cutting in line while everyone else is patiently waiting, if there is free samples of food, they will group up and annihilate whatever they are offering not even caring about anyone else but their own. Leaving a very bad image for us East Asians when people from the red flag dragon nation come in droves. Being extremely loud in public while talking about petty nonsensical things most times but they yell and laugh not caring whoever else is around. Even if the room is quiet they have zero situational awareness, never putting things back when they grab them from stores or gym etc. they expect someone to pickup and do this for them. The entitlement ?….if something is on sale they don’t understand to take just one or two, they have to take the entire box so no one else can get it. \nI his list never ends and they don’t understand why people don’t want them living in their countries. It’s not just Germany it’s everywhere. \nHow do you expect people to like you when you make it difficult to do so.

After reading a few of these comments, the main take aways are, there are a lot of immigrants, things cost more, healthcare is a mess and inflation.\nI am sorry that things are hard, the costs of everything are up everywhere in the world so good luck in gentrifying other nations and making your problems their problems.\nIt pains me to no ends that after things get tough in Canada many are ready to jump ship for better softer areas where they will trash the place with their incomes creating inequality there as well and then blaming the mess that they will create on the indigenous people that they will abandon for better pastures.\n\nAs a Canadian of native ancestry I never had it anywhere as good as many of the people here complaining about their middle class woes.\n\nMaybe if you fought for a change, like more housing to bring down the prices and fought corporate greedflation and gouging, realizing that much of this problem, the attack on the healthcare services, much of it being done by the conservative governments, then perhaps you would not be so annoyed with Trudeau.\n\nHe is not helping the housing problem by not building the 2 million new homes that he said he would but NIMBY people are making this difficult. They want the charm of a nice middle class feel to their neighborhoods but when it comes to housing, they don't want to build affordable near them and then they complain with their rents are too expensive or the costs of things too high. \n\nI can't say I feel much pity or empathy with most of the people complaining about their lots in life because as far as I can tell, many natives would love to have your problems but the best that many of them can do is to live in their own lands, homeless, even on their own reserves because there is just not enough housing. Yet when the prices of housing was going up, many homeowners loved it, even though it meant that the poor, the actual poor and not you lot, were stacked like firewood into smaller and smaller rooms with no AC so it was hot in the summer and freezing in the winter and the slum lords are having a hey day. \nThe actual first nations people are homeless and being killed daily and are arrested for being poor daily but you lot think you have it bad. \n\nSorry, when non first nations people say that they will leave Canada because its not how they remember it when they were kids and its worse now so they will jump ship to gentrify other nations, I just shake my head and hold open the door as you leave the nation and wonder at your arrogance and egoism.

We have immigrants coming to Canada from all over the world and there are a lot of students too, but there is something terribly wrong with people from India. When coming to a new country, you have to come to a point where you respect that country's law and your values too. You cannot impose your laws and values on them. Freedom is given here but don't abuse it. Lastly, live for a little bit under the sun and stop this race mentality.

Sorry to say that but Indians are very corrupt, they are trying to cheat any system or any rule. They are the ones behind all kinds of illegal implementations on: Immigration(selling jobs which is illegal), banking system(forging income documents to get high Mortgages from banks), cheating on documents(like fake school letter of acceptances or fake banking statements) and exams(offering to enter exams on behalf of others with a charge). These are not general considerations, I personally am in the know of all these examples myself and I am hearing many others. \nAdditionally they are disrupting the labor market by lowering life standards. To be specific, there are many indians, living 10-20 people in the same home, lowering their life costs, then going to businesses offering for a much lower salaries, hourly wages since their living costs are considerably low. This is not a fair competition, you can not expect people to live in barracks, just to be able to compete. this is disrupting social life.\nThe pooping and these kinds of senitary examples are just the icing on the cake. \n\nFinally, the indian community are not trying to come in to Canada and be a part of the community and the system, instead they are trying to turn this country into India, which they are running from in the first place. \n\nCanadians are nice yes, but any sound person should react accordingly if their kindness is abused. \nOfficial are needed to take actions on this, since I don't expect the Indian comm unity to behave.

Khalistanis are ruining Canada, but its on the Canadian gov't who ignored India's warning about these radicals and now they have a problem, which ofc they blame on the entirety of Indians. Furthermore Canadians are historically known to be racist af, there were Neo-Nazi/KKK movements here too, they still pop up here and there to this date. Research Canadian history, this rise of anti-immigrant sentiment against Indians is not a surprise coming from Canadians, that's just who they are. Sure there are certain elements that need to be curbed (like Khalistanis) but they are entirely on their govt who invite them in for vote bank politics. The rest is just hate/fear mongering by white Canadians who think themselves superior to other races. The economy is down in every part of the world, not to mention Canada is hosting refugees from Ukraine/Palestine and other parts of the world who also contributed to the drain on economy, if you can't support them then don't bring them? The Canadian economy has been going down for a decade+, many businesses have left in the past and are still leaving, Trudeau hasn't made it easy for them either, the remaining NEED cheap labor to survive. They also NEED immigrants to bring in their money, its a big part of their economy, without immigrant money their Universities/Colleges/businesses are going to be many times more expensive even for the local Canadians. Canadians have big ego but not much to back it up, from my time here, they try to compare themselves to USA but they're nowhere close, nor is the weather desirable to live here, the guise of friendliness/politeness & some high paying jobs is all they had going for them, and now they don't even have that. /endrant

I came to this country as an immigrant in the 80’s. Back then, people were proud to be Canadian and they “advertised” it by wearing small maple leaf pins on their hats or backpacks when travelling. The Canada that I came to WAS a proud country, respectful of its veteran citizens, and WAS a beacon of western ideals. \n\nThis Canada DOES NOT EXIST ANYMORE. This is not the country I immigrated to. It has regressed socially, economically, politically and militarily. If the Canada of today existed in the 80’s, I would not have come here.

As a Native American, I believe that we should let foreign immigrants into our country to help the economy. Yes it does get a bit much at times with the littering in the streets, but north america is a free country for all people across the globe to come and settle. There should be no majority white nor black.

I lived in Germany for my masters and found it to be one of the most hostile and aggressive places to land yourself in. I made up my mind at the end of the first year to leave this land forever after my masters, to never come back. This country needs a lot of skilled immigrants but the society is not ready yet and that you-know-what-I-mean feeling from age-old times still runs deep. It only deserves unskilled asylum seekers.

Why is it that immigrants who come to ‘study’ never leave again?

Indian immigration to Canada is not the same as Indian immigration to the US or other western nations. Most who go to Canada are separatist terrorists or at the very least terrorist sympathizers who want an independent state for the Sikhs called Khalistan. They aren’t coming to Canada to seek better opportunities, they’re trying to escape from prosecution from Indian authorities due to their criminal activities. The majority of Sikhs are peaceful people who do not want a Khalistan. The Khalistan movement doesn’t speak for all Sikhs.

I dont mind immigrants if they are the following.\n1. They come here to work.\n2. They come here legally.\n3. They learn the language.\n4. When there in my country they obey my rules.

Gosh I've been in Canada for 14 years. Trying to do everything by the book when it comes to immigration. Came here as a student, graduated from engineering 8 years ago and now working in the aerospace sector. I can't even become a Canadian citizen until Quebec lets me to do so, and I got big dreams such as flying for the military here. They expect for someone to come to work to speak German on C1 level, I mean for a reasonable job and on the other end they're allowing all the immigrants in that don't know German at all. They want cheap labor, period. As well even if you're from some other EU country they look at you differently so I don't know how would they look at someone from outside of EU. Would avoid Germany, only as a last resort.

I came back to Canada in 2022 after 20 years living abroad, and it's been a mixed bag. Getting a good job is extremely difficult as international experience is rarely factored into potential employers decisions to hire - even if the companies you've worked for are Fortune 500. If you didn't work for that company in Canada, good luck getting the same position. You'll be working in a junior position despite your previous job title. My wife is currently going through this. She went from Project Manager at one for largest companies in the world to junior developer at a small company. Pay is.......not great.\n\nI've been lucky with having a lot of support of family and friends. A lot of the clients I've started to work with in my profession came through people I know. I never would have got these opportunities on my own in that amount of time. It would have taken years. Nepotism played a big part.\n\nTo come to Canada, and start a new life without a solid support system would be absolutely brutal right now. I got really lucky, but my situation isn't normal. I wouldn't recommend anyone (Canadian or immigrant) to come back right now if they're been gone for a long time. The rent alone is enough to turn anyone away.

I know exactly where your coming from.I have lived most a lot of my life away from Scotland. I have been back off and on past few years due to personal circumstances. I see a great change in immigration and the way the country has went downhill with the current government as transport roads etc are unacceptable now and lack of good rental accommodation with soaring rental prices and buying property is way too expensive and not worth the price. Also similar to Canada and USA the cost of living is way too high. I am leaving in coming weeks with no intention to return. No need to demonize Canada like this,it might not be the perfect place to be and yes this crisis exists,But there are people who work their way through the system, Canada presents a great opportunity for a far richer lifestyle than in India,Of course there are a few downsides but not everything.I have been living in this country for the past 5 years and there is a huge potential in this country.Just need to be careful,And not everyone in Canada is injecting or investing drugs,Buying a house is expensive,That doesn't mean people live on the streets,They rent out.Due to sudden influx of immigrants and refugees there is a housing and job issue,But eventually due to measures in place this will be revolved Im sure Canada will bounce back and create more opportunities and affordable housing in the coming years

You talk about people immigrating as though they are legally coming here. Well that isn't the case. Many are economic opportunists who are taking spots in subsided housing, who are causing an increase in rents for the rest, and who are being subsidized by the Canadian taxpayer. It is not xenophobic to be opposed to this.

Maybe because many, not all, of the new immigrants hate the country they are coming to, have no desire to integrate, and want to turn it into the same disaster they left behind.

I am also born and bred in Canada, I left in 2000 to the US. Had to come back in 2004 due to a layoff. Left in 2008 back to the US again then to Asia. I stayed in Asia until late 2021 and came back again because of the kids. However these 3 years I have seen this country go downhill fast and I really find it a hellhole and is much worse than in the 1990s when I was growing up. The cost of living, job situation, immigrant overrun, woke mentality is just horrendous. I am trying to leave again because I am just disappointed in this country and also exploring how to leave permanently.

unfortunately there are now thousands of old and new immigrants left, leaving and not coming back coz of hardship in this country, safety is not the concern nowadays but survival on food,hospitalization and cheaper country to live. From Poland. Arrived yo Canada at the end of 2020. I am nearing my 4th year here, in a small village. I arrived with my 6-year-old daughter to begin my writing career. Now, 40% of my daughter's childhood has been spent here and I I go to court soon to fight for my child to be returned home to me. After nearly one year- a year of financial hardship because I have to travel without a driver's license and without a group of friends to drive me- I have my very first hearing with a judge in Youth Court in a matter that has no foundation to begin with, follows no rule of law, and acts arbitrarily. My child whom I homeschooled to the praise of the provincial ministry of education and was following a classical liberal arts education path that had her outpacing students in the province was entrusted to the care of a Child Services company (that has a record of placements that have resulted in child murders). My child's life has been irrevocably upset to say the least. NO ONE LEAVING CANADA GIVES THIS STORY AS A RESON FOR QUITTING THIS COUNTRY. I guess no Canadians care about their children like I do my precious gift from God. True, O come from the former Soviet Union where Marshal Law (Emergency Measures Act) were commonplace. I lived through two in Canada in 4 years: one Federal, and one through Provincial Youth Court where I await my turn to see a judge after my daughter was removed from my care. People do not know they have no biological ownership of their children, because I guess few Canadians value their children to care about their own laws. But these laws also apply to immigrants too. What money was taken from me during the move and resettlement, the government takes by creating more expenses for me than I could ever imagine or budget for. Emotionally, I am a wreck. Rather than commencing my writing career, I have been seeking low-income lawyers, reading the provincial law on Youth Protection, filing complaints within a circular system (the watchdog is part of the system not outside of it) and preparing all evidence to prove I have done nothing wrong [just like in communist rule]. Have you ever given any thought to the difficulties in proving your innocence? \nNO ONESEEMS AWARE OF THIS DETERENT TO BRINGING CHILDREN TO CANADA. NO ONE. IT IS THE ONLY ONE I COULD NOT PLAN FOR. All other complaints like the economy, or the weather, or inflation I have survived. But taking away my child, my reason to settle in Canada for a life of freedom for her, my legacy, was unthinkable. People ask me in this small village where is my daughter. Their rosy cheeks become snow white when I tell them. Canadians here are unaware and scared like cattle in a thunder storm. Many are addicted to welfare payments, cannabis, prescription drugs, and television. They all seem to be waiting in a pen of fear. I am stuck here now, with little financial resource to fight for my child's life. It is unfortunate that no one will read my comment because it is an inscrutable wall of text or too frightening. Unless someone reads it, no help will come for my daughter. (Because she is a dual citizen, the local Polish Ambassador will not step in - another drawback for having a Canadian passport). Another issue not mentioned here is the discrimination highly skilled professionals face when it comes career advancement.\nI know some very good professionals (different fields) that already left or are planning to leave Germany because they are tired to deliver more than 100% at work and always being overlooked for promotions or salary raises, while the native employees receive all these by doing the bare minimum. Or being offered jobs below one’s expertise and ending up doing the work for a native manager that qualifies mostly by nationality.\nAll this DE&I is all talk and targeted to a specific minority, while the other forms of discrimination are ignored and the majority of managed roles are filled by natives (who’s wok is done by not-good-enough immigrants).\nAt some point you get tired….\nYes, the public services work fairly good, but this country seems zombified….

They are talking like they are not immigrants themselves , 99% of all the people come from somewhere else and are not indigenous so have no right to complain.

Best of luck Alina. I used to watch you before coming to Canada. Came to Saskatchewan spent 5 years and left recently having understood what is canadian experience we should have as new immigrant. It is sad you leaving the country you grew up but same time happy you looking forward to a progress.

I see alot of doom and gloom. But Canada is still one of the best countries to live in. Alot of Millenials and Gen Z think that becuase we are born in this country we are entitled to certain standards of living without sacrifice. You have to live below your means. You have to be willing to relocate to a part of Canada that may be looked down upon by others. You have to be willing to start at the ground floor of a company and work your way up ecrimimentally even if you\n just start out by cleaning toilets. Immigrants come to Canada without a dime to their name yet become millionaires through hardwork amd determination. You have to find a partner that is willing to sacifice too and stick with them through the ups and downs. Love and challenge your children to be better. Live below you means and invest the difference. You have to be patient this will not come over night but in decades and if you continually build little by little you will suceed. You can do it. Dont submit to stormy seas.

It’s the rich investors buying apartments and land which lie empty most do the year that are creating problems, not the immigrants coming to work and live.

Immigrants want to move here because it is very easy to get PR and then passport otherwise Immigrants would move to Australia or US. Most of the Immigrants who come here are for East Asia and Africa and they can't stand cold but they don't have options to go and settle in US and Australia. So Canada is banana Republic under liberal and they come and get the citizenship and then go and work in US and the ones who are villagers and not professional stay here because they can't move. Canada passport is not third world passport and eventhough I moved from third world country don't like to stay here and looking my options.

It's actually mind boggling. I'm Canadian. I have friends and family in the U.S. I would get questioned a lot when coming to visit New York, NJ, etc. I have seen people denied access to boarding buses. What has happened in the past 2 years? The U.S. and Canadian government must absolutely work together and come up with active solutions to solve this problem. If people want to immigrate. Its best that it's done through the proper legal channels.

I left in 1992 and came back in 2015 and left again for good in 2020 mainly due to the draconian covid restrictions. It was the best decision I ever made in my life and I have never looked back. From my point of view, Canada is beyond unrecognizable today and the leaders in Ottawa have sold the country and the people down the river along time ago and sadly the real serious Canada is nothing but a memory. I feel sorry for the immigrants who come to Canada and have a romanticized vision of the nation. They have no idea what they have gotten themselves into. Homelessness, rampant inflation and taxes, unaffordability of food and basic necessities, it's horrible what is happening in this country. I can't afford to retire here as housing costs are insane. Health care and welfare are overtaxed to the point of being useless. And it will take decades for this country to recover....immigrants who have come here are now leaving after not being able to survive here anymore. I can't trust the Canadian people to vote to get us out of this mess...

Currently there are no emergency shelter beds in ontario, never mind Toronto. Next door to me there are a dozen seniors living in their cars in a parking lot....because their pension doesn't come close to rent costs. \n Of course our hearts welcome immigrants, as so many of us are as well. However, our system is failing as it is....how can we accommodate such numbers of new arrivals?

The Recolonization of the Middle East and Africa is the best solution. If you don't want immigrants coming to Europe for a better life, BRING EUROPE TO THEM!
