My daughter is nearing the end of 2 great years in Canada on an IEC (backpacker) visa from Australia. She’s loved the people, the landscape (mostly lived in BC and Alberta) , and working there…. She picked up interesting jobs, worked very hard, just about made ends meet, has been great. \n\nShe was even offered a permanent job by a major Canadian co last year (she was working for them on a one year role at the time) that would’ve paved the way for her to apply for PR…but she turned it down without a second thought….. for all the reasons you would know about \n\n- Wages aren’t great (maybe 20% less than australia), \n\n- taxes are high (incl having to pay CPP…in australia the employer pays all pension contributions, on top of wages), \n\n- groceries prices out of kilter, \n\n- rents consume most of what’s left…. \n\n- AND, even if you could save a deposit for a house, or shoebox apartment….what’s the point, could never afford it. \n\nShe’s seen nearly all her Canadian friends resigned to their fate of being perennial renters, of being perpetually skint. It’s no life. She’s sad to see it - coming from a country of perpetual optimism and opportunity, to learn over time how such a (on many levels) similar country isn’t like that, that has somehow got it all so wrong. \n\nIf you are thinking of “australia” as your answer, it’d be a fair call\n\n- Avoid Sydney if you can (a less expensive Vancouver) but rest of the place is “workable”. \n\n- Average wage in Perth is $100k (C$90k) and average house (full size…not an apt or townhouse) price is about $700k (C$630k) …so do-able, if tight to start with, for youngsters (like you..!) \n\n- I’ve been to Vancouver’s East Hastings St, and so can confirm is nowhere close to that in Oz. Are sketchy parts of all cities, but it’s definitely not community wide\n\n- are small pockets of homelessness (esp but not only indigenous community) but the governments are mostly (sort of…) “on it” \n\n- sun, sea, sand… and the sharks rarely come close to shore!

Why isn't a fraudster banned from our country? He didn't even serve the 7 years in prison! ? Wow ! This is not fair.

Brampton is pure chaos not to be racist. People think it's multicultural but 80% of the residents are South Asian. Not very multicultural if you ask me. Brampton is not faring so well compared to other cities in the GTA such as Mississauga and Toronto. This sudden spike in Indian immigrants isn't just in Brampton but basically everywhere in Southern Ontario. Brampton just so happens to be where most South Asian individuals reside. These recent 20 years is where Canada saw much more immigrants originating from South Asia and the Caribbean. This same issue took place more than a century ago when Chinese immigrants migrated to Canada. Eventually, people will get used to the Indian population and it shouldn't be looked down upon. So sorry for this essay of mine, couldn't shorten my thoughts :)

The quality of medical care is comparable between the 2 countries, however Americans still have a shorter life expectancy (compared to all other developed nations, not just Canada) because co-pays, deductibles, and insurance premiums keep people from getting earlier diagnosis’ that would save their lives. \n\nI find that Americans see Canadian healthcare through an American lens, thinking that we can only go to certain doctors, cannot get second opinions, or that the medical industry isn’t competitive but none of that is true. Our healthcare allows us to go to go anywhere and to get second opinions if needed. We pay zero out of pocket and never see a bill.

India isn't a warn torn country. Why are they escaping India. Maybe India should stop stupid moon missions and invest in their people.

It is up to the citizens of the countries whether migrants are welcome or not. \n\nNot European bureaucracy. \n\nDo not be surprised if the local population isn’t welcoming.

This ISN'T a Democrat or Republian issue! This is F#%KING COMMON SENSE ISSUE!!! Close the damn borders PERIOD!!! We're the ONLY DUMB@$$ COUNTRY in the world to allow this s#%t!!! America is SPENDING BILLIONS of dollars to take care of these border crashers, BUT AMERICA CAN'T EVEN TAKE CARE OF IT'S OWN PEOPLE!!! When WE NEED, there is NO MONEY!! When foreigners NEED, it's an OPEN CHECK BOOK!!! Imagine what this country would be like, if OUR GOVERNMENT spent those BILLIONS on US, and NOT them! Then WE would be living a BETTER LIFE!!!

I live in AZ you need a car here. Phoenix public transit is getting way better here, but you still need a car. Cost of living in Phoenix isn't as bad like other US cities. Tap water is terrible in AZ big time. When I used to live in Boston tap water was good. It's crazy way more expensive to fly between Canada cities than going to US mind blowing! We don't have like different neighborhoods here in Phoenix everyone lives together! Boston where I use to live has different types of neighborhoods. Love Canada especially love St. Hubert/Tim Hortons restaurants so good!

I can assure you balbir knew full well that his offer letter was of a bogus college. When he got to Canada he moved to a real college. It's a back door way of getting into Canada. He isn't as innocent as he claims.

This isn't new. International students pay more to attend our universities, and always have. That's why universities prefer international students over Canadian citizens. As far as claiming asylum...big deal. That's been happening ever since Europeans came here, especially the white waves after WW's 1&2. Now, descendants of those people, are saying 'no more immigration'.

It isn’t the “ inability” of the government to help but the unwillingness to help. It is all part of the broad Trudeau / Marxist agenda to impoverish the people to make the Liberal Laurentian elite wealthier. Welcome to western Marxism.

India isn't the place you want to bring over. Why do you think Indians want to leave? It's a corrupt country. Cheating and lying is the foundation of their society. So sad that Canada wants to degrade it's morality and culture.

Immigration had gotten out of hand decades ago. This isn't new. The problem is there aren't enough places to live which is a LIBERAL and CONSERVATIVE problem. All they need to do is build more apt that won't fall apart and leak within the first year.

Import the Third World, become the Third World.\nThe deal is done and the battle lost and all there is to do now is deal with it or move somewhere else.\nAnd where the heck can you go that isn't experiencing the same demographic shift? :(

Capitalism does not work. The constant crisis and boom/bust cycles will lead to its demise, eventually. Canada isn't alone, in fact inflation and other problems have been worse in peer western nations. The only nations that seem to be doing better with 'economic growth' are places like China or other societies that place value in public services. Best of luck on your journey. I immigrated to Canada about 10 years ago, and I've done better than the US where I came from. It still is the case, as I go back to visit family in the US regularly and the job prospects are grim, the pensions are even less secure, and union membership is even starker than here. Precarious work is the norm in western nations, and its often worse than in Canada. As a dual citizen, I could choose to get up and move tomorrow, but I'll never return to the US as there is worse places to live than Canada... But I did have a long journey to find stable employment, so I realize Canada isn't perfect. Have you thought about ending work as a content creator on YouTube and doing something that might be more productive or fulfilling? It might be a start to a better future. It may even be better than moving to a different country that would have the same or worse problems.

Only ONE demographic benefits from all this: The WEALTHY. You have all the poor and displaced fighting amongst each other for resources. This isn't just a Canada problem, this is happening EVERYWHERE. And of course when that happens, prices go up benefitting....

There isn’t any diversity in canada any more! Everybody is Indian !!!! \nAlso, sadly they do not try to conform to the culture of the country they’ve moved to!!! They still behave like they are still in India and that’s so bothersome to people who already live there… I think a 10% decrease of intl. students is enough or will work at all …

Guys for everyone watching this, its only Punjab & Haryana protesting here because they are desperate for a Canadian PR or Canadian Asylum....most of India isn't even here. I'm a student myself and because of these folks its getting hard for genuine people to get a stay back. Close all the study abroad centers, IELTS centers and scam immigration from Punjab. They have ruined the name of Indians here.

If you, as a post secondary institution, public or private, cannot house, the student’s you recruit or admit , independently on your own volition, then you should not be able to recruit at all. \n\nIn other words, if you recruit them , then you house them on your campus's. Not in the community. \n\nFor decade’s and decade’s, parent’s of gen Z and millennial have stated that their children have been unable to move out of the house. That their kid’s cannot afford the rent that is required. \n\nIf you’re competing with international student money, then finding an affordable apartment is next to impossible. \n\nThere is also the issue of wage suppression that also is a hinderance. There are argument’s being contrived in the opposite but, the evidence is clear. A mushroomed homeless population, children unable to leave home, renoviction’s, eviction’s . Despair and all the things that that despair leads to. \n\nPeople’s own love of humanity has been used against them, as a weapon. That isn’t anti immigrant , it’s self preservation, it’s survival. \n\nUse the “ data “ for the good of Canadian’s , and not for the bad. You the government(s) have the data, use it wisely. Greed can be a sort of cancer. \n\n??✌?✌???✌??

Fact: health care is a provincial responsibility. Fact: homelessness and housing is a municipal responsibility. Fact: any indexes measuring quality of life put Canada in the top 10-15 out of 190+ countries! Fact: Canadians live better than 99% of any human that has ever lived. Fact: we still live better than more than half the humans on this planet. Fact: Canadians are fat, in huge amounts of consumer debt and have become brainwashed. Trudeau isn’t the problem. Why? Because the new guy isn’t the answer. Fact: if your life sucks…look in the mirror for answers.

You people shouldn't be surprised that Europeans don't like people who call us names endlessly since before many of us alive today were even born. When you are European racism is alive and well because everyone who isn't European calls you names and hates you because of what color you are.

As an Indian, I personally think they deserve non of what they are asking if they aren't willing to work for it. If they want to live there then they need to work for their PR and eventually if possible, their citizenship. India isn't really the greatest hence why they are even doing this, but you gotta do what you gotta do, ya can't demand to live there for free when you aren't even 1 sweat in.

Well I can assure you one thing, most Canadians don't want to work, picking fruits and vegetables on farms by handthat isn't what Canadians want? So the idea of getting rid of foreign workers is the stupidest thing. I've ever heard. They need to create jobs for everyone and start building some houses. That's what they need to start doing

90% of immigrants are fine people. Sadly, people who were born here (of all races) don't have doctors, can't afford rent, can't afford food, can't find jobs. The government needs to cut immigration for the time being, invest in infrastructure, and then re-open the doors when we can sustain ourselves as well as our newcomers. Again, sadly, South Asian immigrants are the most visible due to the number immigrating to Canada and because they are snatching up all the failing local businesses and opening Indian restaurants (this isn't judgement, newcomers should absolutely have the right to start a business and support themselves, but the optics of long term business closing down to sell butter chicken sets some people off when our country is failing our existing small business owners). It isn't the fault of immigrants, it's the fault of the people mismanaging our country. Then there is the 10% scamming, forming gangs, skirting laws, etc. Screw them.

If you want to stay here in canada then you should know how to be a canadian,i feel sad about them but its very obvious that they just don’t care about our rules here and most of them doesn’t really know how to show respect..this isn’t your country of origin guys, you can’t make your own rules here.

Similar has happened to Surrey/North Delta British Columbia of the 400,000 residents living here,179,000 are from India. I remember years ago when Brampton was a small quaint town back in the 1970s this India didn't exist. Generally this happens when years ago real estate was cheap all the Indians moved in to the cheaper part of the community then slowly took over, and invaded the community. Same happened in 1995 in Richmond BC when Hong Kong leases expired with China. This once beautiful community was completely invaded.\n\nSo much for immigrants who immigrate to Canada that do not understand how Canada works and frankly don't care, There is no education program to help integrate such people to be multicultural , unfortunately this happened with the old Europeans as well as little Italy, and other areas where other European took over little areas of Toronto. \n\nHowever I think Brampton, and Surrey/North Delta/Richmond BC. Is far far worse and much more invaded by people not wanting to truly integrate in Canadian society. It's blantantly in your face and when and event happens india or any other countries of such immigrants are coming from they amsss huge protests to bring it to the media as if Canada is responsible for that. Canada isn't responsible for crap going in other countries and we should no be financially supporting any of it so just ignore these people because they frankly don't care about Canada if they did they'd learn about Canada and be more adaptable instead of pointing fingers and calling the locals in the community they invaded racist. \n\nSimilar things are happening in the Canadian workplace few immigrants who are fully bilingual won't speak English they completely shun English speaking people working there. It's disturbing that their are double standards for immigration unfortunately Canada has no plan or formula to fixing this other than finger pointing by calling everyone racist that are not like this. Calling others racist for pointing out who is really racist. Insane.\n\nAlso we here that people from India are so poor what a load of crap every one living in these areas are living well above every one else in this country so no Indians are poor they live in oversized homes and numerous high end vehicles how can a poor person from a 3rd world society afford such luxuries in this country?
|

Isn't it ironic that when Trudeau announced cuts to immigration numbers (which mostly affects Indians) Jagmeet Singh withdrew his support.....? !

Canada isn’t perfect but its problems are fixable. As a country, it has great fundamentals and the political and cultural sentiment is currently at an inflection point and is changing. We’ll see…

People need to understand a very important issue . It's called the right of return and palestinians that are forced from their homes Will not be given the right to return. Under israel if your palestinian and you leave the country if you don't return once a year for a certain amount of time you are not allowed to return at all.. They're the ones that control the time frame. My late partner was from palestine He came to my country to go to school for a year. When he tried to return, he was informed, he no longer had the right to live in Palestine.\nAccording to their information. So he made a life in this country. If any other country takes the palestinian people, they are going to have to help the palestinian people with their right of return and Zionist israel isn't gonna let that happen. They want the palestinian people dead. Because they do not think they're humans. And they are of no value to them. They want their land they're properties their homes and chattel's And they're not gonna stop until the world wakes up and forces them to. Which will be a very long hard battle.
