I moved to Canada in 1990 and gave up my Singapore Citizenship most probably the biggest mistake in my life. I am retired now and wishing to retire in Thailand. I can relate to everything you said.

May Allah makes it easy for you. As far as Palestine and genocide in Gaza, I'm afraid even some or many Muslim countries are complicit too as they were complicit with war in Iraq, Syria...etc. May Allah guide us all and unite us. So, as painful as it is, I would think that through from that perspective in terms of choosing another country. Also, as you know, unfortunately many of our countries don't offer path to citizenship or even permanent residency and you don't feel truly settled. Keep us posted!

You explained this so well!! My partner and I moved to Canada 3 years ago just as we got approved for H1B. We had to chose between moving to CA or staying there in an uncertain limbo for 2 decades waiting for a greencard. You did a good job talking about the downsides of moving such as a lower salary and higher home prices. We bought a small townhouse for the price we could have paid in the US for a detached house. Many people I know in similar situations leave CA and move back to the US once they get their Canadian citizenship. However, I do think that there are many reasons to stay such as the political climate. The US has become very regressive banning abortions, making gun laws more lenient and it’s not as accepting when it comes to diversity and inclusion (be it POC community or Lgbtqia+) unless you live in a big city which is expensive. These are the reasons we chose to stay, especially if we have kids as school shootings are getting more and more common there.

Before you move to Dubai or any Arabic gulf countries, please know that you can live there for over a 100 years and have 3 generations being born and raised there, you will NEVER be able to attain citizenship, there is absolutely no way to do so, you will have to make a run for renewing your resident permit every year or so and so will your kids and great grand kids, maybe with a massive investment you might be able to procure a permanent residency but i haven't heard about anyone getting it though, so please research research research before you make a decision.

Canada either it’s good or not - one of the very few countries that gives you a clear immigration program, so you can prove you skills and come even without a job offer and be a permanent resident. What is missing is that many leave after getting Canadian citizenship. So it is a two edge sword...stay in Canada for the prized citizenship. I think those who leave with that are just using the system...short term pain, long term gain...also these issues about Canada are not new...anyone thinking the streets are paved with gold are not paying attention. Also much immigration is family reunification. Also, when one leaves were are they going to go...not the US these days...

No racism, no hate, many tourists from all over, plenty of halal food restaurants. for business I recommend Restaurant/fast food average middle class.\n2nd option is Turkey ?? beautiful Muslim country friendly nation also with business opportunities, mix culture of Muslims/ Non-Muslims but surrounded with volatile borders, lot of tourism. \nAvoid Gulf States because of the present situation. As a born and raised Canadian of immigrant parents, i have definitely noticed the increasing influx of people leaving this country in recent months. This issue has popping up more in the news, just around this year. Canada needs immigrants, thats true for the long term it will benefit the country, but right now its more of the drawbacks that are manifesting. Accepting More immigrants means that more resources are needed, that means and so many tax paid social services and benefits like housing, healthcare, welfare, citizenship applications, waitlists, wait times, lineups, everything is getting longer and pushed back. I get what everyone feels.

I would say try Turkey if you can purchase a house you could get your citizenship there and it is mostly a Muslim country. Something to think about it might be a place to look at . I’m from the US not a Muslim but have many Muslim friends who live in Turkey it safe and clean and I’m not sure of the education but safe is always a big one for me. And a place that respect who you are . I wish you both all the best in finding the right place. May you always be blessed.

Please please answer did you renounce your citizenship, keep it? How did you close up your CTB accounts etc? Do you still have to file income tax abroad for Canada? As you figure this out could you please share and help fellow Muslims trying to figure this out? May Allah guide you in this journey and grant you ease esp bc your niyyah is for Allah.

Are you planning for renouncing Canadian citizenships as well or just leaving Canada temporarily for vacation? I know Canadian government is worsens than Christian fundies but I’m still suspicion you may be leaving Canada at the behest of Canadian government just staged things.

Come to Indonesia, you would love it here.\n\nThe public infrastructure is not the best, but probably the highest masjids density in the world. Additionally, if you decided on SouthEast Asia (as you mentioned Malaysia) Indonesia is the safest, most democratic, most free, richest, and biggest country in the region too, so you can travel a lot locally. Try to aim for Jakarta Suburbs, lots of rich communities with excellent infrastructure and low traffic.\n\nThat being said, the food in Malaysia is better in quality and selection and it is cheaper too. Additionally, you can speak English in Malaysia, but it is much harder to get residency or citizenship there.

MashaAllah. You guys have a lot of courage. \nI think Turkey will be a good place to migrate. There you can get their citizenship also quite easily. But you will have to learn the Turkish language as very few people speak English over there.

If you want a citizenship I don't suggest you go to any gulf countries, of course ignore any war countries, Malaysia and Indonesia have nice people and I think you can get a citizenship there, Jordan might be a good choice you might be able to get a citizenship and there are diverse groups of people but the economy and civil status laws aren't exactly that great, now Egypt is definitely a choice but the country is kinda drifting off of Islam in the recent years, terrible economic conditions and I don't think a citizenship is possible really, I'm not much aware of the Arab west countries but they have their pros and cons definitely, lots of people there speak other languages and there's some beautiful culture and a considerable amount of political safety compared to other countries in the region, other than the occupation Palestine would've been a great choice lots of foreigners live here but I'm not sure what requirements you need for that and I'm pretty sure they probably wouldn't let you do so as Muslims, I have very little knowledge but I wanted to share what I can, I hope it helps.

It's funny. I was talking with a coworker last week. He is a Canadian citizen and has been here for about 6 years. He told me that he's counting down the days until he becomes a US citizen. He has a couple of months to go. He said that he no longer cares about his Canadian citizenship. His wife is still trying to get a green card. They have a child who was born here and is therefore a US citizen by birth.

In other words, none of the other Arab countries want to take in Palestinians. Israel took in the 700,000 Jews expelled from Muslim dominated countries in 1947/48 and gave trhen full citizenship. Arab countries have always refused to do the same for the 300,000 Palestinians expelled from Israel.

I was told i couldn't use my citizenship card to prove I'm a citizen then when it was stolen I tried to replace it and the office that deals with replacing citizenship cards and documents refused to help me replace my stolen card they sent me to a site that wasn't updated since 2016 and the sit told me to go to the office i showed the officer this and they said it wasn't their responsibility

Lots of people come here and stay here long enough to get the citizenship and passport, then leave. They now have a useful passport to use in other countries.
