every country has their own things. Canada might be bad relatively to the past but it is still not as bad as other countries where many immigrants come from.

If housing cost in Canada is down …..then immigrants save more money …and money keeps going out of Canada ….or less parents money come into Canada …..by keeping housing costs high ….major part of immigrants earnings goes to the landlords the older Canadian residents ….hence money earned in Canada remains in Canada.

The Canadians have no idea about over crowding of immigrants. Come to Europe and open your eyes to the problems here. The EU which is only slightly larger than Canada (9.9m sq km vs 10.1m sq km) but has had over 30 million immigrants since the 1980s. Canada is a vast empty country compared to any EU Country, there is loads of land there to build new homes, but they don't for some unknown reason.

The problem is not legal immigration. People who come to Canada legally have the means to pay rent because they have work and some even buy properties. THE PROBLEM IS ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION!

Here's the cleverly worded Title that means the opposite of what's happening. It combines legal and illegal immigration; combines people who want to BE CANADIAN with those who what to USE CANADA. When you come to Canada you need to live and behave in accordance to the standards of Canada..not show supari behaviour..many Indians especially from the North are keen on gettg service related jobs and have the worst customer care and service attitude.Even as customers they behave rude and entitled.. As a FRENCH individual, I would\nSay this!!! WHY would you or even plan to come to a country that rejects you??? Why waste your money to come here???? Why immigrate here??? Lately, I have my older brother move back to France and my 2 daughters NOT willing to stay in Canada (they hate the Canadian education system here)! My wife wants to fly back to France and so am I and we will as soon as we can!!!! Germany sees itself as extremely tolerant and remarkably generous to non-whites, but the general sentiment clearly goes against immigration from non-European cultures. What skilled workers and highly qualified professionals experience in Germany today, is already the best they can ever expect. Much is going to change in the coming years, but certainly not in favor of immigrants who don't look white.

Every time there is a news story about someone who is LGBTQ or non-white or an immigrant or refugee or from a religion other than Christianity or Judaism \nthe troll bigots come out in mobs to tell the world that they are bigots.\nPathetic.

I feel bad for those who were duped into coming here to Canada. They had big dreams of becoming successful here, instead not being able to do that and being forced to live in cramped accommodations. I work in healthcare, and a lot of people who work in the facility in which I'm employed were brought here from the Philippines and India, mostly. Some were hired directly by this employer, while others came here some other way. Those with professions like being an RN were under the impression that it wouldn't take that long or be that difficult to get their Canadian certification to work as RNs here. Instead, they found out that the process for that here in Canada is a lot tougher and takes a lot longer than they'd been led to believe. So many are left not being able to use their education to its fullest, instead working as care aides until they can get the proper certification. I know that this has also happened with doctors and engineers and to many in other professions for which they went to school for years. It's a real shame.\n\nThis massive influx of people coming from other countries, though, has been really tough on those of us who were already living here. It's been way too many people, and we just weren't prepared. It's been one of the biggest factors in the huge increase of cost of living and, of course, it's by far the reason we have an enormous housing shortage.\n\nI'm not completely anti-immigration, but I think that it needs to be stopped, at least for a while. Let us deal with what's going on now instead of bringing in more people that would only help to make things worse, through no fault of their own. There's no reason that we need to have more people coming here right now. We have way more than enough people here right now.

Why is this even a question that needs to be asked? Even if you ignore the cultural, social integration issues, it's a simple numbers game. Too many people with an infrastructure that cannot support this sudden influx. Immigrants were not betrayed, they were not forced to come to a new country. It is not a guarantee or a given for someone to live in a country that they were not born in.

When given circumstances of true immigration are present, a majority of Canadians (or any other country, for that matter) have proved to be accepting. This is not the current situation, hence my noting that your title is misleading. Multiple countries are, during economic strife, being inundated with individuals perporting to be immigrants and stretching an already bad situation to breaking point. One questions the logic behind such decisions as can be illustrated thusly. A family is struggling with funds so decides to advertise a space in return for income and an understanding/expectation of contributing towards the general upkeep of said space. This would be mutually agreeable. The family would increase the hardships AND the effort they would be responsible for by taking in someone when they are at breaking point. They might, upon better circumstances, invite someone in to help bridge that guests progress... but not indefinitely. Now let's return to the current situation, shall we? It is not one but many. There is increased, NOT REDUCED, burden of effort. Some are not abiding to the general agreements of the house and, at least, doing their *fair* share. So, coming back to your title of this misleading piece, it is disingenuous and sonewhat preaching to present either the question or an argument without being cognizant of these relevant facts.

What was he thinking with his over immigration. And then there’s so called diploma mills from no name colleges made things even more worse. Canada needs to send international students back to India when they are fi disused there diploma . A study visa was never a promise to permit residency. There was an incident were a cricket match was going to be shown in the mega plex put they did not show it something happened that was not mega plexes fault that it was not being shown there was a group of Indian students who started screaming at the ticket counter. The 2022 -2023 batch on international students are a disgrace not saying g all of them are bad just most dont come to study just a back door into the country they see one of there family members went to Canada and they should to ?‍♀️. In Canada, there used to be a difference between ‘immigrant’ & ‘refugee’. Trudeau and his government have made these two groups into one. My family immigrated from England in the 1950s. My father had to have a job waiting for him when we arrived. We had to go through health checks. My parents had to prove that we had a specific amount of money so that we would not be a drain on Canada. Trudeau has opened the border to anyone wanting to come no matter if they have anything to offer Canada.

It's not exactly an immigration problem. More like an illegal immigration problem. People are coming in illegally, and the country has to take in more people than it can handle. No proper housing, jobs or infrastructure to support a huge number of people.

As an Indian, this feels really heartbreaking. Hearing the worsening experiences of Canadians themselves, i dont Know what to say. There are a couple of things, which i have noticed so far. both the canadian government, and the Indian students shifting to Canada are at wrong. I wont take the side of the Indians. I totally believe in learning about the culture, the language of the place, u are shifting to, solely for education purposes, but most of the students, especially indians forget that. Even i would not feel fine if someone(immigrant) would come to my home country without knowing about the culture, the language, and just simply misuse our resources. \nBoth the parties have resulted in breaking the trust of the canadians. How did a country founded on immigration come to not like immigrants? This is the perfect example of people looking for scapegoats rather than looking for the real issue. Furthermore white people certainly didn’t accept indigenous values when they immigrated to Canada.

I left Canada finally after many many years of debating for myself. It’s the best thing I ever did. I have a really good job, that pays me more than three times my monthly overhead. After literally struggling in Canada for 30+ years as an adult trying to keep a job amongst colleagues that hate you for everything that I was and wasn’t, had and didn’t have. I’m very happy that I left and can go to work peacefully everyday, without needing to feel like I’m a piece of crap that doesn’t have the right to exist. I came to Canada at age 12 with my parents. And was always called names, always under minded, overlooked, put down, bullied and never had a single job that also contributed to my pension. When I left Canada, immigration Canada emailed me daily for three months telling me to come back to Canada IMMEDIATELY lol. Because my home country wasn’t safe enough to live in. I’m from Belgium. It’s much safer, friendlier, empathic and prosperous than Canada ever was

It's a shame that some immigrants come here and just waste their opportunity and cause such a stir that it cause a major shift in racist sentiment to all brown people. Im not even Indian and just brown, and I already feel a slight change in looks I get. Its hard not to be resentful when you catch flak for some one of your race makes everyone look bad.

On the one hand GER says it need skilled labour, but on the other hand they create a very unattractive environemt for such people. Thenin total disregard for their actual needs, they do everything to attract unskilled people from around the world as asylum seekers, which creates an even greater burden on bureacracy (which in itself is a burden, that GER created for itself) and the welfare system. Additionally, they miss their mark for new homes built by ~ 50%. \n\nAll that, in combination with increasing crime rates creates a growing resentment against immigration by the german people, which then deters the skilled people, which we actually need from coming to GER.\n\nGER could be great, if it would let itself do, what it does best. Be organized, deliver quality and be crafty. However, GER has currently an ideological issue, which prevents it from pursuing a rational strategy. Unfortunately, our current path just leads in the opposite direction, where we should actually head.

I come from a mix-status family, my dad’s undocumented but has been in the US for 22 years, my mom’s a US citizen, they both own a business + two homes. The immigrants that are coming into the US do not want to work and want nothing but hand outs. Why do we have people who have been here for decades, have assimilated into society are unable to legalize due to outdated immigration laws yet we have so many coming across our border who want handouts. Look at Colorado and New York for example.

The racism against Germans that is so openly expressed in the comments here is unbearable. Yes, there are some bad people in Germany (basically in any country on this planet, unfortunately) who are themselves racist or discriminatory. But that is by no means the majority of Germans. I have lived here for decades and have met the most warm-hearted people. From the comments I rather gather that many who come to Germany simply extremely overestimate the demands they can (and may) make of Germany (or pretty much any other immigration-friendly country). If you come to Germany it is obvious that you have to learn German (or the local language). That is the case everywhere, including France, Italy and Korea - you name it. And if you can't do that straight away that's okay too, most Germans speak English and are very forgiving when it comes to language learners. Nobody shouts at you for not knowing German. Furthermore, Germans are very direct and don't care much about artificial and feigned friendliness. What you see is what you get. And I think that's honest and quite refreshing. \n\nThe thing is, YOU have to approach Germans and can't just expect them to roll out the red carpet for you just because you think they are in need of your workforce. The simple truth is: the standard of living in Germany is very high. The culture is diverse, and anyone who doesn't recognize this should broaden their horizons. Cities like Munich, Berlin, Stuttgart and Hamburg are beautiful, extremely multicultural and anyone who describes them as 'dull' will probably not feel at home in any city on this planet. The people are also nicer than many non-germans claim - that's obvious, because if that weren't the case, Germany wouldn't be the most popular country to immigrate within Europe amongst immigrants. Of course there are problems on the German side too. Bureaucracy, language barriers and discrimination. But they definitely don't deserve the unreasonable racism they face here in the comments. You can't criticize Germans for their alleged discriminatory behavior by unreasonably attacking and generalizing Germans themselves. Anyone who approaches Germans with prejudice and racism should not be surprised if they do not receive a friendly welcome there...

Governments are lying to potential immigrants. I work with a guy who said he was told that his qualifications would be recognized when he landed and to not worry about anything. Upon arrival he applied for a job in his field and was told that his qualifications were not recognized. He was then told that he wold have to complete the equivalent of 4 years night school to receive accreditation. He wonders why he came but cant afford relocate back to his original home since it was sold and they used everything to come to a western country. He wasnt prepared for the cost of living and is now stuck in a country even he doesn't want to be in.

For several years up until a couple years ago busloads of immigrants were coming from New York into Canada at Roxham Rd Quebec. Now they're going the other way!
