Trump is about to get some lessons in how the country & the world has changed. He is gonna start off pissing of Mexico & Canada who've always been friends of the U.S .. how dumb & all over these ridiculous tariffs

mexico and canada should join BRICS if those tariff goes through

Canada should also impose their own tariffs on American goods and services, and restrict access for Americans to cross the Border for work or trade or tourism. See how long those American Tariffs will last.

this is literally just a negotiating tactic of imposing tariffs to get the border countries to stop the flow of immigration and drugs/cartel gang activity from there own side and for them to pay for it with there own money while we do what is needed on our side of border and then there will be no tariffs imposed on Mexico or Canada if you can't see this then you shouldn't be concerning yourself with politics or business as it will be too much for you to understand

Canada Mexico was simply put tariffs on everything imported by the US, and it's going to be hilarious to watch Trump voters suffer because they're just going to pay skyrocketing prices

Even as an American, I fully support Sheinbaum on this. She shouldn't take this mess from Trump, who doesn't truly know the effects of these proposed tariffs. An American politician trying to play hardball with Canada and Mexico is some nasty work.

So basically Trump's border plan, again is make another country deal with it - so instead of Mexico will pay for te wall, Mexico and Canada will pay Tariffs? Umm.. that's not gonna work and sounds like just like his non-existent health care plan, there is no border plan either.. FAFO!!

As employees of GM/Chevrolet, I am extremely worried about the potential impact of Trump's tariffs, particularly on Mexico and Canada. Our products are manufactured globally, so I am curious to see how Trump's supporters would react if the prices of vehicles like the Silverado and Tahoe increased by 35%. Get ready, America, because we may be in for four years of unprecedented chaos.

Don't worry mr. Trump. Canada and Mexico has had plenty of time to prepare for your tariffs and other stupid racist person that you are

So we import Lumber, oil, cars, and more from Canada. So gas is going up Lumber is going up, and cars are going up. The last Trump admin Trump hit Canada with a 25% Tariff on steel, Canada then slapped in response a 25% and dollar for dollar Tariff on US products. I'll say it again Trump does NOT know what a Tariff is or works. So if your in a hurricane state and are re-building your getting hit with a 25% plus increase.

Definition of Maquiladora: A maquiladora is a manufacturing operation or factory in Mexico, typically located near the U.S.-Mexico border, that assembles goods for export, primarily to the United States. These facilities take advantage of lower labor costs in Mexico and benefit from duty-free or reduced tariffs under the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), now succeeded by the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA). Companies often send raw materials or components to these factories, where they are assembled into finished products, which are then exported back to the U.S. or elsewhere.\n\nThe maquiladora program was established to boost employment, attract foreign investment, and promote economic development in Mexico, especially in border regions. Bravo to the Mexico's President. Canada's Prime Minister made similar statements. Plus he said Canada is concerned about the large number of illegal guns entering from the USA. He also said they would impose tariffs on the goods coming into Canada from the USA. Note Canada exports the following to the USA so imagine how a 25% tariff would increase the price of: Canada's main exports to the United States are:\n- Mineral fuels, oils, and distillation products: In 2023, this was the top export, valued at $128.51 billion\n-Vehicles other than railway, tramway: In 2023, this was valued at $58.21 billion\n-Machinery, nuclear reactors, and boilers: In 2023, this was valued at $33.75 billion \n- Other exports from Canada to the United States include: Baked goods, Canola oil, Beef and pork, Chocolate, and Frozen fries and other prepared potatoes

As a Canadian I'm quite pleased with Trump tariffs this will help accelerate the decoupling of Canada from Trump land.

Why can't the Canadian government commit to a fair trade agreement with China? The current trade deficit with China exists largely because our Canadian govt and business leaders have supported Chinese imports into our market. This isn’t China’s fault—it's a consequence of decisions made by our own Canadian politicians and business leaders. Now, with increased tariffs on Chinese-made EVs in favor of American-made brands like Tesla, China is responding by reducing its imports of Canadian canola. Why we need to favour american company to chinese company which by the way provide better technology with less price tags. Who bears the brunt of this? It's our Canadian farmers who will suffer the most. It’s concerning that our government lacks a strategy to truly prioritize Canada and put Canadians first in its economic policies

Canada is G7 country which is super rich in the world. several months ago Canada even sent a warship to Taiwan sea to show the muscle to PRC. Canada also charged 100% tariff for EV car from China to protect the car industry in Canada. LOL

You have raised the number of students, their working status, and the employment authorization for students' spouses as a cause for the housing problems in Canada, particularly, it's negative impact on affordability. This is factually true, However, there are two sides to the housing affordability equation, which are the supply/offer on one side, and the demand on the other side . If we need or require the affordability equation to be balanced, we need to deal with both sides of the equation. Furthermore, and regardless of the issue of foreign students, and their spouses, the lack of offordability will not significantly improve, as the supply is the accumulation of many years of deficit, due to bureaucratic, regulatory reasons, and the lacking, or the deficiency in housing policy, at all government levels, and all related taxation, budgeting, financing, and general economic policy adopted , or omitted in dealing with inflation, interest rate manipulation by the Banque of Canada, inadequate competion issues, investment in main street, instead of the Wall of Bay Street, political sanctions, and tariffs, etc..This immigration issue needs to consider the demographic, and labor needs of Canada, while in the same time, or in tandem, prepare for the required housing supply, and other needs, and requirements in term of reviewing the rules and procedures, pertaining to integrating the professional immigrants in their professions instead of excluding them from professional organizations such the medical, and the ingeneering, professions and so on. Many of such professional resources are driving cabs in Toronto, Vancouver, and Montreal. So to blame the housing crises on the immigrants only, will not define completely the housing crisis, and may not help to solve it.

Canada announces Trump policies - tariffs and immigration control.

25% of Canada's GGEmissions come from the transportation sector. A cheap electric car is a crucial need to achieve goals for GGEmissions. A 100% tariff on $10,000 Chinese cars is short-sighted, and just plain stupid. A government cannot be taken seriously about fixing climate change when it does this.

This is out of control. Trump needs to close all borders with executive decision, shift the National Guard and Homeland Security resources to the northern border, beef up border patrol at the southern border, and institute Stay In Mexico and Stay In Canada policies with both the heads of those countries. If they will not comply drop 100% tariffs on them. Open unfettered asylum to America is over.

canada better fix this before we put 200% tariffs

You surprised with taxes??? but why? Canada depend on your taxes, I realized this during tariff war with Trump, when you US slapped Canada with increase tariff for aluminum, steel. Oil, farm produce, Canada retaliate with increased tariff for maple syrup and candies

I do not see Americans as friends to Canada. we have had a softwood lumber dispute for 30 years now. Canada has different laws which Americans will never accept. when it comes to trade, Americans are not Free Trade or Fair Trade but Trade domination to eliminate competition. Boeing cried about Bombardier and secured a 200% tariff, while the Canadian company has no products to compete against Boeing....\n\nCanada still suffers from tariffs on our steel and Aluminum. \n\nAmericans are only friendly if Canada submits.... the latest NAFTA agreement saw Canada accepting American milk.... dumping into Canada at the expense of our farmers. The USA has an over supply of milk and rather than adjusting production to meet demand America is using Canada as a dumping ground.\n\nAmerican companies have come to Canada and destroyed many Canadian companies, Walmart, Home Depot, Lowes, Costco to name a few. these companies push very hard American products while ignoring Canadian suppliers. In no way would the US ever allow such a concentration of foreign businesses to take control of their economy. \n\nThe USA has been the only nation to violate Canadian Sovereignty.\n\nThousands of Canadians have died to protect the USA, but I can find no American who has died to protect Canada.\n\nCanada has fought in many American wars.\n\nCanada has supported the US during its many hurricanes.... I do not see Americans supporting Canada.\n\nIt must be noted that the USA has the largest military force in the world, yet they always ask for other nations to help them in wars. \n\nthe only nation to invoked Article 5 of NATO has been the USA... Canada responded and assisted America.\n\nThe USA is not a friend really, friends do not treat their partner with such disrespect. \n\nBut hey, Americans flood to Canada to buy lower cost medicines rather that fix their own systems.

But you won't hear these truths in any newspaper. They are all liberal rags that print what the left wants you to hear. Justin Trudeau tells the American press that Donald Trump is against illegal immigration and that he and Canada are welcoming to those in need. Now we hear the truth. He has slapped tariffs on America acting like he does so to pay back Trumps new tariffs, not mentioning that Canada has been unfairly selecting the US to bare unfair trade with Canada.

Is this a PM of a G7 country? He has messed up such good relations with India, gave a free run to Islamists in Canada, threatening US with tariffs and now this..Canada deserves better

You Canadians love to criticize America for its immigration policies... But it turns out that Canada's immigration policies are even more archaic. Enjoy the tariffs.
