As a Canadian, I can guarantee you the only citizens leaving Canada seem to exist in the comments sections of right wing click bait. Canadians don't like the US' expensive healthcare or the gun violence, and Britain is a sh*tshow with property prices that would make the average Canadian's eyes water and the highest rates of inflation in the G7. When you hear right wingers claim folks are leaving Canada, ask them where these folks are going to. Prepare for the crickets.

Several names on the bank website list of leaders are actually Jewish. I think it’s somewhat deceptive to call Jewish people white since when most people think “white” they think Scottish or English, which is unfair. I don’t like the term “white people” since it literally has no context. Someone from Poland or Ukraine for instance, or Russia, has literally nothing in common with someone from Ireland or Sweden for instance bc they have completely different histories, cultures, religions, languages, foods, music, etc. etc. etc. I actually consider the term to be insulting. For instance, how would an oriental person feel if people went around calling them yellow folk? I expect they would not like that very much AT ALL!! Rightly so, they would be insulted. I don’t think black people should allow themselves to be called that either since they are actually NOT black. It’s rude. They are African Canadians. I am Irish Canadian. It makes more sense.

I’m a Canadian citizen, and I left because I couldn’t make ends meet. I knew I would never own my own home unless I bought elsewhere. The big cities have blocks and blocks full of homeless people. It’s unlivable unless you are rich or you bought your house decades ago.

As a Canadian, I love immigration. As a renter though, our government failed us so hard. They defunded our housing in hopes that the private market would pick up the slack. It didn't, then because of our economy/demographics are we had to massively increase immigration. It broke a system that was already crumbling. Now a whole generation of people will never be able to afford to buy their own home many of us can't even afford the rent. Is it that surprising the majority of our legislators are landlords?

Mostly for the sunshine, the culture, my husband is Chinese and there's a big Chinese community there, I'm half Indian and there's a huge Indian community there also. US Citizen here. My late Father was Dual Status... US Citizen & Canadian Subject. My family still has cousins in Ontario, Canada. At one time my Retirement Options included Canada as Permanent Residency would be easy. Residency is now more complicated & Costly... Plus my Canadian cousins that are roughly the same age as I am are moving to the Philippines where we have Filipino Cousins in Retirement. Why does this happen is simple to explain. Newcomers to Canada won't leave their customs behind and many will try to fool the Canadian Government into free handouts ect...ect. Canada is not all about oneself as many Newcomers would like it to be. Most Canadians worked dam hard for years to achieve what we have today. We did not beg our Government for handouts or cry because money was sometimes short, no we did not....we worked harder and showed determination. Unlike many Newcomers to Canada.

The liberals have been using immigrants for a while now to prop up the economy and buy votes, eventually the Ponzio scheme would start to fall apart and we are starting to see that now. I've always planned on staying a Canadian my whole life... but today... A fool runs my increasingly shameful country... no longer proud to be Canadian... we still have almost 2 more years of this left (getting worse and worse in a very fast way) and in all honesty... practically all the Liberal parties firmly held convictions disgust me in one way or another. As an American I would NEVER want to live in Canada. Their salaries are much lower than an American salary and they have much higher taxes. As a huge hockey fan, you almost never see an American hockey player go to a Canadian team as a free agent because of the crazy taxes.

I think it is the quality of the immigrants that come to Canada that needs to be analysed. If too many low skilled or people with unemployable skills are granted visas, then any country, let alone Canada, would seem like a tough country to settle and earn. Canadian govt seems to be lenient in allowing too many unemployable ppl to get into the country. This has resulted in an imbalance. It just needs a strong govt which Canada lacks at this point in time. 90% of the problems can be solved within 4 to 5 years if govt stops or regulates visas.

I live in Europe. I have been to Canada several times. I found that Canadians are more racists than Europeans. I would not like to live there. It is too cold. I have experienced temperature of minus 44C.

And forcing developers to protect natural areas rather than build anything (except golf courses and luxury homes) even though Canada has more undeveloped land than any other country on earth. Who on Earth would want to live here? We are such a depressing and failing culture and society. We have placed ourselves in a situation where nothing properly can grow here. Canada will get far more depressing over the next decades. I tell people all the time don't come here, you'll pay more than money for coming here. And I tell people, who are able, to leave. Find a better place to call home. Canada can't be home to people. Not with how we are easily dislodged, displaced and how everything around us is on fire and burning down. \n\nDon't come to Canada unless you're suicidal and want to die, or you happen to be super rich and you can make it. \n\nCanada will be losing many many Canadians in the future. That life on Dad's farm doesn't look so bad. Why would you leave that so you can barely survive in some ugly industrial neighborhood as the Canadian Winter freezes your soul?

This gentleman would have lot of issues in Canadian workplace setting ...they want you to be assertive clear and efficient and at the same time they want you to be too nice to an s hole employee...you have to respect their willingness to not work and even promote them.

As a Canadian, stay the hell away at this point in history, you would be shocked at the cost to live here. There is a massive housing shortage right now, so of course, the rent, and real estate is completely unrealistic now. The cost of literally everything is driving through the roof right now. If you are thinking of coming here, I would wait a few years till we get this mess sorted out.

It's refreshing seeing Canadians' opinion on a national issue in the comment section. Just acknowledging that they face a problem and how it should be tackled, no aggressive xenophobia, no racism. I would only live in Canada if I could do half year there and half in Florida. I could NOT handle those winters now. There are a lot of Canadian snow birds here in Florida

I'm an immigrant and my immigrant friends and I were talking about exactly this just the other day. I'd like to add some context on why so few international students stay: they can't. Schools prey on this very fact. In international recruiting, these schools use the promise of thriving local industries and trot out graduates working locally as major draws to these expensive programs. Then once students are in Canada, many of these schools couldn't care less: they offer little or sometimes no housing support, no immigration advice (or in my case and many of my friends' cases: they give straight-up false immigration advice that can screw you over or even get you in trouble). There absolutely needs to be regulation and accountability for these predatory schools; I think a good starting point would be capping the number of visas they can apply for based on the number of housing units available (either on-campus or via local development subsidy and homestays). Tons of students come to Canada completely unprepared due to false promises made by these schools, and then get spit out into an egregiously inefficient and broken work visa system.\nMy immigrant friends and I are all highly skilled in our specific field. There are only a handful of people in the world (let alone in Canada) who can do what I do at the level I do it, so I would be incredibly difficult to replace if I left Canada. Despite that, and despite being Canadian-educated (Canadian resources invested in me that you'd want to keep in Canada), remaining in Canada has been a massive struggle for me and my friends. We individually spend hundreds and even thousands of dollars every year to apply for permits that have to be renewed annually, but take the government 6+ months to process. Because the government is so backed up, we have to apply for *extra* permits to bridge that gap (more money, and more work added to IRCC's already-long line of applications). I'm in limbo for the majority of the year where I can't switch employers, can't leave the country, etc. It's horrible. \nBut I have it better than most. Of the international students in my year, only I and one other student are still in Canada because the transition to work permits is so needlessly long and difficult. Even a graduate who does manage to get a work permit might have to sit unemployed for 6 months or more before that permit is active. How is a student supposed to survive without work for that long? In order for employers to even apply to sponsor a graduate, they often have to do a lengthy labor market impact assessment, and so these graduates are stuck in a holding pattern, and they're the lucky ones. Immigration is absolutely vital to Canada and I hate how quickly these stories turn to xenophobic rhetoric, but we have to make space in the conversation to take a look at how schools are exploiting students and policy loopholes, and why they're doing it, and address those problems. The current system isn't fair to anyone.

When you reduce the no. of international students, won’t this mean the course fee would drastically increase for the Canadians since international students pay roughly 4 times that of a Canadian student.

As a Canadian I would advise not to move to Cnada right now. Hopefully with a change in government things will get better but for now just say NO.

I would rather see my tax dollars support CANADIAN STUDENTS. Canadian students are the next generation of workers and scholars that will help build and support Canadians.

I understand and agree with you. Everything here is expensive with high taxes that go up just about every year. Europe is much cheaper and there are many countries that are a lot safer. I understand how you feel as Muslims and I have nothing against other religions. You don’t have your calls to and I as a Christian I don’t have the church bells which happen to also be a call to prayer. If I was not 70 years old I would leave. I am not Canadian but I am a citizen, my husband, however, is Canadian, so we stay because leaving would be extremely difficult. You are correct about the government and the ‘woke’ ideology in schools and everywhere we turn it seems which we also do not agree with.
