As American, I am against these tariffs against our allies

I’m so ashamed of our country. This is going to cause global economy collapse. This is going to hurt everyone, and country, and corporations. Trump knows what he’s doing. He’s working with Putin to cause this- global plutocracy. Thank you for speaking truth to power. Maybe now, it will sink in to people. We pay, not ??. They are force to put tariffs on their goods, who do you think pays? This is ?, peanut butter, Aluminum foil, etc. I suggest start stocking up. In about two weeks increased prices will hit the shelves.

It will be the businesses and employees, not the politicians who are now trying to act tough. This proves you can not believe what career politicians say and have to go by what they do, or don’t do, instead. Yet now, they confidently declare that Canada will never become the 51st state. When you ALREADY have tariffs in place against the US you cannot claim Trump is starting a trade war. You started it. Now we have a POTUS with the sand to stand up for us not the world. canada exports 75+% of its overall products into the united states, it only imports 50ish% overall products from the united states of america. This is why the tariffs are in place. Agree or disagree, this is why trump is doing what hes doing. Our country is in shambles and we need our allies to pump money into our economy or else it will only get worse in our country. And both canada and mexico are outraged by the simple way trump is approaching this.

Picking a trade war with Canada, Mexico, China and major economics is a very bad idea. It will not bring anybody to the negotiation table to get a better deal. It will drive them away from US partnership and they form alliances, new trade routes and partnerships, de-dollarization, etc. Just think why does a country needs USD when they cannot trade with US. BRICS have overtaken G7 in the overall GDP. So, In the end, US will be left alone with limited trading partners. US people will need to pay for tax + tariffs which will put them in a downward spiral.

I’ve been operating an import export business for 25 years throughout the entire time It has always been more expensive to clear goods from Canada into the USA than the other way around. Meaning there was already a trade barrier in effect to Canada’s detriment. This is just insult to injury. I wish the White House looked at the facts on the ground rather than fantasy. Why does he feel the need to stroke Trump's ego, calling him a smart man, while condemning his actions. He articulates all the harm and difficulties Trump's actions, and these tariffs will cause, but refuses to point to the source of this stupidity directly, and call him out for it.
