There is a basic question that has never been answered that I have heard or read..:::: How is it that all these people who are trying to get to the US , enduring all the hardships, reaching the border, only to be held up there and told no, or folks that have been here being picked up and sent back, all this becomes OUR FAULT ???? I’m all for folks coming to the US, but going thru channels to do it, yet the reasons the left home, scone the fault of the US..:. HOW ????

They don't even have to go into effect at all. Just the threat of tariffs is often enough. Colombia can't survive without the US as a major trading partner. Tariffs would kill them. So, they quickly changed their tune. Which is why the Colombian President 'Gustavo Petro' has already folded to Trump and has reversed his decision to allow 2 military transport planes to land there after being threaten with tariffs, serious sanctions etc. Like him or not, Trump understands how to negotiate.

Columbia exports about 14 billion dollars worth of products to the US. Meanwhile, the United States exports over 20 billion dollars annually to Columbia, so who's going to lose here? This man is going to turn the world against us.

Tariffs don't affect what Colombia pays, it affects what _we_ pay. So he's doing these things to cost the people money, not another country. Tariffs cost us!! So, trump hits american companies buying stuff from columbia with a tariff. Columbia does not pay the tariff and it is not going to affect anyone but the american consumer who the american companies, who paid the hidden tax he just imposes on us, the consumer, won't actually pay in the long run because that tariff just becomes part of their cost of goods that they will add to their sales prices.

This is too funny ?. Just keep issuing even more tariffs is only going to come back to bite us in the butt to us consumers. We get a lot of imported goods from other countries, the costs for us to purchase everyday things you enjoy is going to go up as well. I don’t understand how people don’t understand that.

As a Colombian, I applaud Trump, who can free us from this narco-guerilla leader whose president we have; more than 80% of Colombians do not want him and he is going to set up a dictatorship.

It is understandable why US import illegal immigrants back to their country. But all immigrants are not criminals and they trying escape poverty and other local issues. It’s funny how he shift from the issue of how tariffs affect people in the US to the subject of migrant deportations. Yeahhhh illegal migrants are the main reason why we have inflations and higher costs of living. The consumer gets the short end of the stick. Companies who gets their good from overseas pass on those tariffs on to us the consumer, they’re not going to pay for it.

When did the readership of cnn get so frikking stupid. The US is the biggest consumer country in the world. Tariffs will only hurt Americans, all of your costs will go up. You pay tariffs, we don’t. For Columbia, your coffee, tropical fruit like bananas, flowers are going up. For Canada, your gas prices, housing costs. Mexico, fruits and vegetables….basically your inflation is going to sky rocket.

So it'll be costing the US at least an equivalent cost increase to continue buying goods from Columbia (and other countries as yet unknown to add to the list) until the US has no sources left to switch to that are un-tariffed and more economic.\nThese countries will just sell their goods elsewhere if the US doesn't buy them, so the American consumer loses out and pays to finance this fiasco in the making = US price inflation. \nSo falling out with your neighbors is how to make America great again is it?\nWhat sort of successful businessman works like this and succeeds? (And the price of locally sourced goods will also shoot up because of higher demand). Well done Trump, you are only punishing your own citizens with tariffs and they will hate you for it.

All this means is that USA consumers pay more for whatever Colombia exports and what consumers will need ( supermarket food produce for example) ?? It does not help US farmers who cannot deliver to super markets their field produce because Trump is deporting workers who go into the fields whom primarily collect it !!!\nTrump is basically taxing the US consumers and pushing prices up !! The US importer pays the tariffs (US customs tax at port of entry) whom then passes it onto the consumer !!\nThe consumer can of course not purchase the product which would hurt Colombia exports; the importers would have to hurriedly find another source whom would probably also increase their price because of demand.\nTrump is a loser and always will be; his businesses are mostly failures; even casinos !!
