The thing that really pisses me off is that these illegal entries also gum up and slow down the process for legit asylum seekers and legit immigration petitioners who do obey the law. I saw a news report at the San Ysidro crossing where they interviewed a mother of three young children who had a legitimate asylum reason (which still has to be determined in court) who had been trying for over two years to enter legally. The system just didn’t have capacity because of the illegal crossings in the region taking up all of USCIS resources. This woman had no resources and was sleeping on the streets in Tijuana (not safe) trying to survive and care for her kids and she had the resolve to continue to doing things legally. \n\nPeople bitch about America being unsympathetic — what about people like this woman? You gonna say she should give up obeying the law and try to jump the border? What if you came home from work and found a homeless woman and her three kids eating out of your fridge? \n\nWalls don’t keep people out. They have doors. This is TRUE. It's just a TRAP. They are using greener pasture scam of study first. I myself have applied and have already wasted almost $11,000 just for the application since 2013 with IELTS of 8.0. I have taken multiple IELTS since it always expires every 2 years. And I havent heard anything from Canada. Then came the pandami and I don't have any monetary funds at all. I don't have any intention of continuing my application as Canada just squeezed out the money out of me. I could have just used that money to help other people. I'll just be staying in my country so my country could be a lot prosperous than a country who uses education just to SCAM expats.

Toronto resident here. I do agree with everything that Alina pointed out. Those thing exist. But the only REAL problem is the high cost of rent. It now equals and even surpasses the cost of a mortgage. If the rent problem were resolved, and they can do this by simply building more housing (which they are now starting to do - with government programs and incentives), then most of these problems Alina reported on would recede or disappear completely. \n\nAlso, the homelessness is not visually worse than anywhere else I've visited. Homeless encampments are visible in every city I've been too. However, in Toronto, a LOT of homeless people come from other parts of Canada. \n\nThe violence that Alina referred to was just a snapshot in time. She made her video around 4 months ago, and at that time there were several truly shocking incidents on the subway (which even made international news). Those incidents have not continued. The subway system, and Toronto, is still a very, very safe city. We are the third largest city in North America, after LA and NYC, and we had something like 50 homicides last year.
