RACISM IS BORN OUT OF STEREOTYPES AND STEREOTYPES ARE BORN OUT OF A LOT OF PEOPLE FROM A CERTAIN ETHNICAL GROUP DOING WRONG THINGS OVER AND OVER AGAIN. CHANGE FROM WITHIN AND RACISM WILL END. OBAMA WAS 2 TERM PRESIDENT OF THE USA, DON’T TELL ME RACISM WILL STOP ANYONE FROM ACHIEVING THEIR GOALS TODAY. RACISM IS NO MORE POWERFUL THAN ROASTING AND IN THE AGE OF ROASTING, COMPLAINING ABOUT SOMEONE SAYING MEAN THINGS TO YOU MAKES YOU THE WEAK LINK - CUSS BACK AND MOVE ON

Joselito, better call Trudeau... he will certainly accommodate you in his guest bedroom in his house..

I am white European, but look like an American white woman. In certain areas feel watched, followed and one of the store in Miami I wasn't served because I didn't speak Spanish.

Just like the police, those store workers spent so much time focused on who they think will steal, they miss the people actually stealing. They focus on a certain group, therefore they have more opportunity of finding criminal activity within that group. Then later use that same data to defend why they focus their attention on that one group.

As sad as this is and not knowing his particular situation, I find it appalling people to use children to manipulate others and try to use them as pawns in the legal system. Don't have children if you can't afford it, or before you have kids have a certain foundation at least.

The disrespectful comments are unacceptable and personally I would never stand for it. However I myself have witnessed and experienced myself . There are people targeting others claiming they are raising money for certain people and it’s a lie and a scam. Maybe some sort of registered charity or approval from a local mosque would help.

People don’t understand the reasons why people flee their home countries in the first place. They’re seeking refuge from public threats that their governments have failed countless time to crack down on. My grandparents and my own mother came here from Mexico illegally, but they eventually became naturalized US citizens through hard work, hope and determination. They left because of the rampant crime and violence taking place in the streets of Monterrey, Nuevo León. I was born here in this country in 2003, by sheer fortune alone. But that couldn’t have been possible if my family didn’t sacrifice all they had, just to be able to feel safe. It’s not lack of security, it’s lack of compassion and being able to understand what other humans go through. Fear-mongering and generalization of a certain group is atrocious, and should by no means be tolerated. Only through fair evaluation and hard work should a person be judged.

Go certain part of toronto you'll feel you are in middle east

And btw CBC, talking about intolerance and hate, will you be doing a major CBC investigation into the many arson fires at Christian churches of late? There is clear hatred against a religious group going on with the latest arson at the famous Nantes cathedral in France. Will the CBC be doing stories about the racial hate of the perps when they are caught? Even if the perps are not white? Somehow I doubt it. Although it's a daily topic in the CBC, their anti racism coverage only extends to certain select groups. They don't actually demonstrate a true belief in equality.

There may not be systemic racism in quebec, but there most certainly is systemic discrimination.

If everybody can just move on and do better next time then things like this will never be an issue. With that said, certain things which is EVEN MICROSCOPIC in size can only be found if you actively look for it.

As soon as you use a colour in your speech to describe a person from a certain continent you are suspect in my opinion. \nIf this about getting money for historical past wrongs you are suspect as well. \n I would agree that the Canadian Police have lost their way and are serving a new master. \nI am afraid that this may lead to chaos because hate and anger are powerful emotions \nand would agree that most people do not know who is really making this happen. \nSome would say that the Europeans have conquered this continent with gun, germs and steel.\nWe are going to have to figure out how all of us human beings can live in peace in Canada.

Sure, Canada has the odd incident that makes headlines. However, these incidents are often isolated and certainly do not rise to the level of injustice often perpetuated in the US. Consequently, it's hard for me to believe in Canadian movements specifically targeting the Canadian police for racism against black people. I do believe in Canadian movements that show support to the overall BLM movement, though. Imo, the race we constantly overlook as a society, and who bear the full brunt of systemic racism in Canada, are the Aboriginal peoples.

Introduce policies for double blind testing procedures since doing so would be a great first step. This helps to remove bias in certain fields and a great example is in orchestra's. Since it's implementation they've seen a rise in the diversification and equalization in general. This might be a good way to resolve the issue in education and employment which in turn could spread to the general society. It also helps to ensure that the most qualified individuals get the jobs and not those who happen to have connections.
2020-07-12 1
There will always be racial bias in society. We can’t help it. Race, religion, gender, language, all part of our identity. But we are also going to have a preference for those identity traits as well. It’s the hate that is the problem. Some people have been taught or conditioned to hate certain races and identities and that is what we need to push back on.

Think about why only certain races face racism. Then you'd know how to stop it.
2020-07-10 0
Mexicans do the same in my area they judge you by how you look if you ain't a chalupa they won't rent you a house but then they want others to feel sorry for them when their being deported or treated a certain way that's just being a hypocrite

The problem here is people apply their previous experiences to future contacts. That's human nature. So if the last 3 times you dealt with a certain group of people and you got ripped off, the next similar person will be looked at more closely. Only a fool keeps making the same mistakes. This is not discrimination. If you find your group does most of the rip offs or violence then you can expect the victims to remember

Plus if his sister is a Canadian citizen, there is a program that would allow them to come under her if she make a certain income

I hate no one because when you know the truth you live a certain life style. Know history
2020-06-26 0
It baffles my mind people can hate certain people that they don't know because of the way they aren't white. I don't understand the motives. I find myself being prejudice towards those type of people it makes me so angry to see it or hear it being done.
2020-06-21 0
If higher percentage of people stealing from you are a certain race. Then you would as intelligent person...blah blah\nIf black people tear up apt....blah blah
2020-06-06 0
It's the same with trying to join the military, or getting into certain jobs
2020-06-02 0
I’m tired of the people kn certain places
2020-06-01 0
If you work as a security guard and let's say 70% of the people who steal are of a certain race, then it's only normal that you inherently start to stereotype that certain race and pay more attention to them in the store

When people get beyond the boundary of a person's color you will face the reality of what this is all about in the first place. Isn't it funny when we look at things like professional sports. The music industry a host of other platforms you see the black community excelling. Now you do not see a huge rebellion taking place from any other nation that is not represented in those areas. So what is really up with these other areas you continue to bring up. All those other problems are not being escaped from because of a persons color. If you believe you have a problem in those areas. Then continue to find solutions. Stop trying to single out the fact that you are the only race that has life issues. When you know every Canadian daily has challenges it faces. The thing about it all is simply this fact. What are you going to do about it ? Stop putting up walls that tell others you are always a victim. If that were the case your basketball courts, baseball stadiums, football fields would not be filled. We all know that is not happening. And I certainly do not believe that all blacks live in this sort of arena. In fact I have a lot of friends who are black. All I see everyday is a beautiful person behind that face. The other thing is, that there are millions of Canadians every year out getting tans when the sun hits. That alone should speak volumes.

I don't think racism exists anymore. It's dead. What does exist is stereotypes and discrimination. But it's certainly not racism, no one thinks one race is superior than the other.

@the 22 mark, listen heres the 411, When you go into a shop to actually shop, you act and look different. He had tells that he was not shopping, so they were suspicious. in 50 years I've only ONCE had a security guard actually follow me in a best buy, and it was actually because of the type of coat I was wearing, if you fit a specific group or look a certain way, THIS DOES HAPPEN... OMG there is actually real racism out there, the shops is not one of them

I'm white, and in certain stores, with overzealous sales assistance, I might get approached more than that black guy was... but I don't have to question whether its targeted, it's got to be a burden on your shoulders.

Most of these Ninja dressed folks are the extremist end of Muslims.\n\n\nThe average Muslim immigrant (Atleast from Indian Subcontinent) works hard, goes through all the loops of legal immigration and even works to put in effort to adjusting to Canadian Culture. From my (Personal Perspective) all legal immigrants should make 100% effort to learning the countries culture they immigrate to its the least we can give in return as immigrants and also work towards contributing towards Canada's economy instead of leeching it. There are certain crazy extremes but the average Muslim works towards his / her bread & butter to live another day.

Cananda is tolerant, not inclusive. I’m a tiny black female and I’ve always carried myself a certain way because of my upbringing. However, I have been racially profiled my whole life. Thus, you can be ok with people being around you but it doesn’t mean that if you had a choice they would continue to remain there. We need to ask ourselves what makes a race more dominant than the other? \nThen, how did we come to this determination that a race determines a persons characteristics? \nRacism disgust me, maybe we should just all be blind lol.

Allso with out african americans. Going on many now cancelled talk shows and behaving a certain way these shows would have been cancelled years ago absolute fact

History will repeat itself. Islam has been driven out of Christian countries with violence. The future in North America is certain......a pogrom of muslims.

radicalization of any religion is dangerous..be it muslim jihadis, buddhist monks, medieval popes (they dont have any power now though) and also the pandits at certain points.

Of course you profile people, certain individuals who act a certain way, look , ect....get security’s attention, shouldn’t have anything to with color, thief’s, drug attics, gang bangers, thugs, all act and carry themselves in a certain way....,so if it acts like a duck, looks like a duck it must be a duck.....well there you go!
2020-02-27 0
The sad thing is, there is a lot of crime committed by certain races and people have learned this so the good people in that race suffer because of that
2020-02-26 0
If profiling works, you should profile. If you think a certain looking person is more likely to steal and you profile that type of person and the amount that is stolen from your store decreases, keep doing it.

I am Cypriot and maybe I do not understand certain cultures. But why do people differ because of skin colour. And why we see people as black or white. We are the same in different shades of beige to brown.I do not see white or black in skin.It is not natural. We humans come in different shades. sizes, skills and talents. By the way I am a shade light to medium if anyone is interested.

I find it funny how certain minorities experience racism from white people, but they still feel closer to whites than blacks.

I loved this. I have always wanted to move to Canada and wondered about race relations. More importantly I think it is important to be honest about the struggles we all face everywhere. Nothing in this made me want to not visit Canada or think that ALL Canadians think a certain way...it was just information. Not all information is information you need to act on, but it is important for information to make you think.
2020-02-07 0
Different cultures have different tendencies and behaviours. If you see a certain behaviour more than once among the same culture / group, you will naturally start categorizing. Most people think it's a skin colour (which very commonly is just an attribute of a certain culture or group), but in reality, it's hard to tell people not to stereotype and just simply ignore what you observe.

Trudeau is personally responsible for this. Rising false hopes to people who are desperate to be settled. His is certainly an ass, likely worse.

There's so much evidence of racism existing but certain whites will never stop trying to either downplay it, somehow justify it or outright deny it. As long as there are people like that, racism will never cease to exist. Must be great to be the ones on the defense team, opposed to being the ones on the receiving end of it.

President Trump had to say:For Muslim Immigrants\n\n“IMMIGRANTS, NOT AMERICANS, MUST ADAPT.. Take It Or Leave It. I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks, we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Americans.\n\n“This culture has been developed over two centuries of struggles, trials and victories, by millions of men and women who have sought freedom.\n\n“We speak ENGLISH, not Spanish, Lebanese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society, learn the language!\n\n“Most Americans believe in God. This is not some Christian, right wing, political push, but a fact, because Christian men and women, on Christian principles, founded this nation, and this is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools.\n\n“If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home, because God is part of our culture.\n\nWe will accept your beliefs, and will not question why. All we ask is that you accept ours, and live in harmony and peaceful enjoyment with us.
