Want to charge 5 times,6times more to foreign students and why these foreign students pay such huge money bcoz they want a better life than india if canadians expect that they should leave after studies then its hypocritical bcoz its always give and take they spend such huge sum for better life if canadians dont want that ,thats fine its their country,there rules but they should implement harsh rules and tell at first itself while visa is granted for studenr that he/she will have to leave canada after studies and lets see how many students will come here to pay such huge amounts for studies and that will be an eye opener for both indians and canadians

It's an absolute joke, if you can qualify for a student visa, you should not be able to qualify for asylum. Period. And I bet you if we had an nationality breakdown of those 13k students, 95% of them would be from India.

Wow the entitlement is mind-boggling. If that is the attitude that people have coming here on a temporary Visa. 33 years ago I had a temporary work reason to work in the UK I worked six days a week paid rent paid bills and we built a business that hired other people and put money back into the economy. I can’t imagine being out in the streets protesting it to the UK government that I haven’t been pretty to the privileges of people that were born and bred in the country and were there before me in Ontario we definitely do not have housing available. The cost of housing for a room is $1000 a month outside of the city, basement apartment is 2000 and Condo, one bedroom and den is about 3000. I’m not sure what jobs students are expecting when employment is not at all-time high and the healthcare system is already strained and failing people that need vital surgeries. Seniors are waiting three months for an MRI and students that were born here are having trouble finding employment because entry jobs are given to immigrants we are approaching UK and Ireland crisis levels, it’s not about racism. We don’t have the infrastructure.

Unfortunately, you get the terrible kind of Indians migrating to Western countries as cultural immigrants. Earlier during the British era, it was only high-quality immigrants from Bengal and Tamilnadu who won Oscars, and Nobel Prizes, and invented multiple medical treatments, took yoga to the west. After Indian independence people from the culturally worst states of India migrated to the West. Those states are already famous in India for being religiously bigot, conservative, being abusive to women. These people never go to the West to enrich themselves but go only to earn money. Now western people can't differentiate them from the rest of the Indians. Although many are trying ....Australian universities banned students from specific Indian states, and UK universities restrict them. Other genuine Indians are taking the hit for those bastards. It's not a good sight to see every visa medical, application center filled with Punjabis, they tore down the Indian image of taxi, and truck drivers as their image is the same in India.

It's not only Indians , All ASIANS who skimped and borrowed money to apply for a student visa.. What is wrong , they let their family come with them which is not supposed to be.. They have to work and support the family they came with. . .Blamed the immigration for their stupidity.

Simple fact is you apply as a student visa you automatically get deny as asylum seekers.

This is a reaction to the potential loss of their student visas, not some jumping the queue scheme. The changes in the student visa system has created this temporary panic. A student who is in second or third year has already spent a lot of money to get an education and then lose that money and not have a degree. The years and money would be lost, then they would have to go through the process again in other country has caused this. Many of these student will remain as students and get their degrees and go home as they have in the past. Our university have had foreign students forever and it has worked. The anti-immigrant trolls should be ashamed. We are all immigrants here, unless we are aboriginal so we shouldn't point fingers. People are coming to Canada because it is their best chance for a future. Your ancestors though so too.

They are not ‘international students’ they are illegal immigrants. When they applied for students visa in India or Bangladesh they did not have any reason for asylum.

Canadian embrace multicultural values, but not mono-racial (Indian) who don't accept but trying to change or dominant the local culture and values. It defeats its purpose and core of open and racial diversity. Also, they are so many frauds among these people resulting from poor or no control on visa applications from certain Indian agencies.

If they came on a student visa, they came in to study then go home...not seek asylum

It seems like a good number of them are coming from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and the Middle East. We should definitely think about stopping student admissions, especially since tourist visas are being used to rush into Canada and apply for asylum. Of late, JT ( Liberal party) has become the whipping boy of Canada for all wrong reasons especially for the intake of a large number of international students and no one seems to be blaming the Conservative party that actually removed  the cap in 2014.  In 2014, in line with the International Education Strategy published by the  Government of Canada, the ruling dispensation decided to raise the number of international students from around 240,000 to over 450,000 by the year 2022. \n\nAccordingly in 2014, the then ruling dispensation (Conservative party) enhanced the number of international students visas to 327 thousand from the previous cap of 240 thousand.  In 2015, the figure went upto 352 thousand, representing almost a 47% increase  by CPC during their last 2 years in office .  As of 2023, there are over 1.5 million students holding study permits in Canada. \n\nIt is a known fact and no Canadian can sweep it under the carpet that the economic impact from the contribution by international students was felt across the entire country. From a mere $ 9 billion in 2014 it went to $12.8 billion in 2015 and it further enhanced to 15.5 billion in 2016. \n\nBy 2022, the Canadian government reported that the annual economic contribution of international students had increased to $22.3 billion, greater than exports of auto parts, lumber or aircraft. \n\nNow it is for the Canadians  to decide  as to who should be blamed  for  if Canadians feel that their country has become like a third world country- the international students who had contributed more than $22.3 billion to the exchequer of the govt  in the last 10 years or both the mainstream political parties namely Liberal Party and Conservative  Party  that failed the Canadians by opening up the flood gate to international students with  their eyes set only on the economic contribution  by international students  without  realising the after effect of huge unchecked  immigration of students. A myopic approach by the successive governments has brought in all sorts of chaos,  unrest, unemployment, shortage of houses, increase in cost of living etc..etc....to the Canadians. I can only sympathise with Canadins who are facing undue hardship and mental agony because of the wrongdoings of successive governments while worrying about the future of my ward who is pursuing  three years study program there.

Well, I don't think so; Indian international students asap take advantage of PR because they hate extended visas. They are more jealous of Canada for PR. They must learn the study is done when they go to home in India. They don't want go to Indian because they are stubborn to stay in Canada. No excuse!!! They are done go to home in Indian....

2 days ago, a CBC report mentioned most of these illegal crossings are happening from Quebec and being done by nationals from India and Bangladesh who first enter Canada on student or visitor visa.

When I applied as skilled worker in the 90s, I had undergone voluminous requirement to submit to embassy including taking up an IELTS exam but after years of updating my requirement this was denied. The process is very slow and very strict but now it is very fast specially if your applying for student visa. No more IELTS required and family can go with the student. Maybe its time for to strictly regulate it.

Cross the border and stop visiting visa

Thats why encourage only Skilled based Migration or Work permits....for study visa only kids with high grades and superior English skills should get it...Visitor visa needs to be strict.

No meaning of this protests. All got min 5 to 6 years stay at canada legally and if their visa period going to complete and they are unable to get the pr then simply return to their native countries instead of deportation order from the Government. If deportation stamp affixed in the passport then most countries will not allow visa in future.
