Regardless of how these illegals are getting over the border New York City is at The Crux of the matter. New York city's policy on illegal immigrants has virtually slipped a noose around the neck of the city and its residents. If the city does not do an about face with this policy now, I believe the quality of life for us that live here and the migrants will drop drastically. You can't entice these people to come here illegally so that they can receive a better life that no one can deliver.

As someone who moved from the US to middle of nowhere Canada, this tracks. Most of Canada cannot be lived in as a homeless person for 6-8 months out of the year unless you plan on literally freezing to death. It regularly gets down to -60 Celsius in the winter where I live and unless you live in a big city, alot of the smaller cities and towns that dot Canada ain't willing to take in illegal migrants because they have no resources to do so.

Hmm I feel so bad for everyone involved in this. I don't really want cartels going over the US border but I really don't mind all the people fleeing from countries that are even worse then the US. So many of them have such horror stories from their native countries. And if they're willing to work here I don't think there should be really a problem. I just really wish they wouldn't all congregate in the big cities and would move more to a lot of the rural places that are losing people. The housing is getting so expensive in the big cities I'm not sure how they can afford even stay there.

LOL: we were up that way two months ago .While there are actual border stations there are hundred of back road crossings that only operate a limited number of hours per day.While tehnically illegal Canadians ( and there thousands of them ) gladly turn a blind eye when there are fortunes to be made.Arrive at midnight and a small sign asks you return the next day and check in.Fat chance that happens .Meanwhile thousands can walk over the border at which point they can call an UBER to get a ride to New York city. It's strange how some people focus on issues related to ethnicity and cultural appropriation while ignoring economic factors. Canada has a GDP per capita higher than Germany, yet the roads in its biggest cities, Montreal and Toronto, are in poor condition compare to Germany. I have heard that this has been the case for over 20 years. This might be a problem with management and politicians and how they use money, rather than with people who are trying to leave their shitty countries and invest hundreds of thousands of dollars into Canada's economy.

I live in Buffalo, NY on the Canadian border. For the last 50 years (my memory), we’ve never had an issue with illegal crossings. \n\nAlthough NYS is a “sanctuary state”, we are NOT a sanctuary city. Local police do work with ICE, as much as they’re allowed. There’s no free housing or benefits. Thats only NY City. \n\nThe border is in a rural area. The kind of place everyone has a shotgun of some sort. Walking up on someone in their back yard may not work out the way they think it will.
