Why did we keep quiet for the past 2 decades when our government was not increasing incomes, didn't focus on housing supply especially cheaper apartments, but banks and politicians together put 4 times more burden on us when it comes to monthly mortgages or rents and groceries, now suddenly we call immigrants as the problem for everything. How will Canada impress the world if it targets the weakest people in Canada rather than working on the core issues, the poor refugees and immigrants who were welcome with open arms can never influence the powerful think about it dear Canadians ?

It is absolutely laughable that anyone would ignore the degradation of Canada thanks to the insane immigration policies that are both exploitative and predatory. I work in a field where I speak with hundreds of Canadians a month, and the ratio of immigrant to Canadian born individual I speak to is 4:1. The problem is NOT with the immigrants but the policies, and those of us who work and pay taxes who essentially support the integration/lifestyle of some of these immigrants should NOT be shamed into hiding for expressing our concerns. Canada has to reform all immigration policies immediately. Let’s get housing, healthcare and public services in place before we allow hundreds of thousands more people into Canada.

For every hundred people who are looking for the same job there is sn employment problem. For every hundred people looking for the same apartment you have a rental problem. For every hundred people looking to buy the same house there's going to be a housing problem. For every hundred people looking to take the same thing as the other hundred people you have a society with a big problem. In many cities daycare is a big problem because of the number of new people coming into the country and replacing those who are already in line for social services. Language services replace the priority of local citizens who have to move to the sidelines in order for new comers can be equal but when too many people are coming into the country things will never be equal. Anyone coming to Canada must be fluent in English so as to not put a strain on local social services..

My area is scenic and attracts many new Canadians. People stop in the middle of the road, take pictures on private property, picnic on people's lawns and leave their garbage including baby diapers. It is a problem which can be fixed. New Cdns.should get some kind of orientation when they arrive so they know what is acceptable and what is not. We would all have a starting place to get to know each other.

What a contrast. The USA has an illegal migrant issue, and Canada has legal immigrant issues. Unlike the USA, where people are pouring into the country illegally, Canada has created its own problems by importing a lot more people legally than it can afford to accommodate in terms of housing and jobs. Canada could have done a much better job managing the influx of immigrants and international students.\n\nThe Canadian government, colleges, landlords, and business owners are the winners. The government and colleges collect billions in taxes and fees, and landlords collect millions through inflated rent. Business owners get a lot of cheap labor and sell those LMIs for $50k—$60k each.\n\nThe losers are Canadian citizens. Whose quality of life and livelihoods are in jeopardy.

WE ARE ALL IMMIGRANTS IN CANADA!!!!!!!! HOW CAN WE BE AGAIST IMMIGRATION!!!!!!!!!!! \n\nWe just don't want people to be disenfranchised, not assimilate, and bring their countries problems here. WE WANT REASONABLE IMMIGRATION!!!! \n\nThe birth rate for Canada in 2023 was 10.072 births per 1000 people.... YET OUR COUNTRY GROWS AT 1.4 MILLION A YEAR! Its not right! GDP per Capita is falling off a cliff, not enough housing or jobs for the influx, pushing Canadians to take lower wages. \n\nWe want common sense! If we cant even vet the people coming in, what are we even doing!

I've said this before and I'll say it again\n\nits a problem of quantity over quality.\n\nmost of the immigrants who are not able to sustain themselves are not fit and came via study permits to open or non existing universities, refugees or a broken PR system which favours people on incorrect criterias than their experience and background.

Canada used to have a fairly sane immigration policy - immigrants needed to have a level of education and/or skills that would contribute to areas of Canada's economy and growth - skills or education in fields where there was need for people. Part of the problem now is that so many people are allowed in as refugees, with no usable or useful skills. Another part of the problem is that Canada does not have the infrastructure to accommodate so many more people - we should first build the infrastructure, then allow just the number of people we can house and employ. Another policy should be that our local and provincial governments should have decision making authority where immigrants settle. Huge influxes of people into already crowded urban centers makes no sense - immigrants need to be told what areas of Canada they may go to.\n\nNo culture or group can maintain identity and stability if overwhelmed by large numbers of outsiders. We should limit immigration to the number of foreign cultures and languages that can be successfully integrated into our society.

The video literally calls out the fact that the Canadian economy needs immigrant workers and that the problem is an artificially constricted housing market and the comments are all still providing excuses why Canada should commit economic suicide by restricting immigration lol. You would think these people are de-growthers, which would be valid, but they still want their exponential economic growth cake and eat it all by themselves.

who exactly is telling people in, say India, they can live a great life in Canada? an unskilled worker will have problems just about anywhere....

When you talk to anyone in Toronto they all have one problem at the top of their list, too many people. Many move away to small towns to get away from it

Canada and America just need to focus on two of main problems...which are greed and a lot of people getting in real estate who are either renting or selling at a severely inflated rate because those people in real estate just want take short cut early retirement. If rich individuals or companies create more jobs that are entry level and offer decent salary then rich individuals or hedge fund companies can buy empty land and buy town homes or a tower like apartment and charge a decent rate.

Dear Americans. We have a political class that will do anything house prices high. Most notably we welcomed 1.3 million immigrants while only building 200k homes and creating 400k jobs. Our immigrants are being cheated and deceived. Our people and our new immigrants deserve better. Even many of our Canadian born citizens are looking to go south. So on behalf of my people, I am sorry for exporting our problems.

This isn’t totally accurate, and comparing Canada to the US is like comparing apples to oranges, a more apt comparison would be Canada and Australia (similar government structure, similar population, similar economy) unlike the us that has 8x our population and is the richest country in the world lol. \n\nThat being said the problems with the Canadian economy are pretty straightforward imo, for housing it’s simple, the Canadian government has invested heavily into the real estate market with things like the Canada pension plan being largely invested into the CPP. There is also a huge amount of people who have banked their retirement on the value of their home, for the most part these are blue collar workers. These two things combined have created a huge problem for the government, it basically has to choose between fixing the worsening housing crisis and in the process wipe out the savings and retirement accounts of millions of Canadians or let the problem get worse and worse until something boils over. This problem is also being compounded by the increasing number of international students being misled into coming here, they are being promised world class education but are receiving bogus diplomas from what are essentially sham colleges (thanks Ford). \n\nWhen looking at the competition in the country it’s a more complicated problem than people like to admit, in order to not become a client state of the US we have to place stronger protections on our industries and media, this insures that Canadian money stays within the Canadian market but has the drawback of discouraging competition. Now if you ask me the solution to this is to nationalize large industries that are being controlled by large oligopolies who unnecessarily manipulate the price of goods like Bell, Rogers, Loblaws, air Canada, petrol Canada, etc. By taking control of these industries the government could have better control of the price of goods and should result in better prices for consumers in turn we’re leaving some of the pressure placed on us by the cost of living crisis. This worked wonders for alcohol which in Ontario brings in 1.5 billion in revenue for the government each year, imagine how much internet, electricity, phone service and produce could bring in.

This is really sad. This should not be a problem. They would not be overcoming our borders if it was not available and whose administration did that? I would like all people to be happy and in a proper place that fits them appropriately, but you cannot do it legally with my tax dollars are not even covering our veterans.!!!

If alcohol is a problem is none of their Damm business if people drink or not go back to your country

Amazing it took this long to figure it out. El Chapo was running drugs down thru Canada for decades. Heroin to Seattle and Cocaine to Chicago. The biggest problem right now about Western nations are not migrants. It's our own people fighting us on border issues. It's basically a civil issue. Why anyone is for open borders and replacement is beyond me.

If these people can afford cab fare from Canada to New York City they are not poor. Just getting to Canada is expensive. The refugee story does not add up. They are well off and are just looking for free food and housing . Someone has put them up to this. If there are problems in their country solve them do not run away and bring your problems here.

The problem is Indian students are blindly coming to India without doing proper research and seeing things own sided. There are so many stories of Indian students living in pitiable conditions literally in poverty after coming here or they commit suicide under pressure as they cannot survive the harsh economic and social conditions. As a Canadian - the immigration tom-foolery that is happening is just as bad up here. Our Prime Minister is a handsome idiot, he was a drama teacher before he became Prime Minister (I know, make that one make sense). He has no idea what he's doing, he's being used as a puppet for more experienced extortionists-erm-politicians. With the help of his party members and a coalition with another party, in less than ten years he has taken Canada from a great place to visit and live to basically what's happening in NY. Crime in our cities has gone up dramatically. Theft is on the rise. Homelessness and drug use is through the roof. Immigration is out of control. And our government also prioritizes immigrants and asylum seekers before born and raised Canadian citizens. As a Canadian who is tired of the nonsense that's been happening in the world this past decade, I wish our government would put on their big boy pants and do something about this uncontrolled immigration. Things are bad here too. Our government seems to keep changing policies and laws to further accomodate the insanity that is happening, I promise, not every Canadian wants these changes to happen. We are just as sick and tired of all this nonsense as our American cousins. I wouldn't be surprised if both countries at some point united in objective and worked together to fix this problem - but that's not gonna happen anytime soon as long as these dummies are in power. I'm Canadian with no criminal record and they won't let me across the border. But if you're an immigrant from wherever the hell, and you're willing to actually f*** the system, there's no problem. \n\nSo wait all I have to do is actually lie to the border guards? \n\nI thought that was supposed to prevent people from abusing the law and now it's become an incentive.
