Your gun laws or lack of them would keep me from moving.

I don't think Canadians so much are concerned with guns, it is the laws that get passed in many of the states. Lack of background checks, lack of firearms safety certification, concealed carry, stand your ground, and other laws most Canadians find objection to. Health care is an obvious reason many Canadians would not move to the USA. Canadians that do move to the USA usually have found a good paying job with full benefits and are of a demographic that feel more comfortable where they live.

obesity is a national past time , mass shootings every week and sometimes every few days, any nut case with a 6th grade education can buy a gun, zero tolerance for your fellow human beings, complete lack of Respect and Responsibility, fast food restaurants are Filthy, Religious and Political Fanatics abound, Education is Very Disappointing, Health Care would bankrupt your average citizen without good health insurance, Far too many people, Prevailing Attitude that your Country is the Greatest ever in spite of all evidence to the contrary , Bullshit Prevails,.........Everywhere, you elected they Biggest crook and Liar in History as your President . i have worked in the US in Communications, I'd move to Central Africa before the States. Your Country Sucks!!!!

Tyler! I'm sorry, but you're wrong. Guns are now the number one cause of death of American children and absolutely a factor for many Canadians as to why we'd never live there. As a mixed race family, I would fear for my husband's and children's lives on a daily basis. If it isn't in the schools, it's at malls, concerts, shopping centers, Walmart, everywhere!! Not to mention police brutality, specifically toward black men in America. It's a giant nope sandwich for me. Add to that the lack of socialized Healthcare and failing public education system, there's a reason we fly OVER the US and head straight to the southern America's or overseas even for vacations. Nothing about the US seems safe for our family.

Bigger cities are mostly ran by democrats. Thats not red areas like Georgia, Texas, Florida etc. If somone goes to a rural area people are way different I've found. Also the lack of gun laws in the US, is a major factor for Canadians. Canada rates higher also, for personal freedoms.

Moving to the USA. Can’t afford to live in Canada anymore. Plus lack of healthcare access, terrible justice system where criminals thrive in. No thanks. Bye bye Canada!

Canada is not smaller than the US. We are less populated, but not smaller. Most Canadians do nut understand your lack of healthcare, gun culture, racism, taking away voting and civil rights.

The big 3 reasons against have been very well articulated in the video. Social safety net is lacking, health care system is\nmentally stunted, Gun culture and Religiosity are far too entrenched in the American psyche. I would add overcrowding,\na more hyper rat race, and...it's too damn hot in many places. Positive reasons to consider the move are American dominance of pop culture, ask most of the best Canadian Actors...and if you are wealthy and want to remain in Canada, it must be nice to be a snow bird for 4 months each year. Truly wealthy people can find ways to avoid taxes in both countries. I will say that the U.S. does seem to have a far better choice of regional and international food culture, in spite of the corporate fast food dominance.

No way would I ever move to the USA. I don't believe in your lack of gun control, don't agree they took away abortion laws, can't stand that orange idiot with the big mouth! Not to mention you have lousy health care coverage.

Why would anyone sane want to move from Canada which to be fair does have serious issues to a septic tank?. I mean from wealthcare to monster storms, lack of insurance, guns guns guns everywhere and of course the cool calm dulcet tones of politics whispering like the talk of angels. As Carlin said living in Canada is like living over a nation of crackheads. The year isnt done yet.\n\nMy sister moved and lived 6yrs in Texas. 1st wk into her new life there... shootout/lockdown in a Walmart. That was the first/closest time our familly was as close to a handgun (except my father - RCAF veteran).\n\nShe moved back during C-19 in 2021. Lamenting the lack of choices of cracker flavours in Canada. But no longer worried about her HC Insurance. Still complains we only havr 4 flavours of Poptarts.\n\nMy father lived in the US for work and moved for a while. I was glad we moved back to Canada. (I was 10)\n\n Even as a kid, I felt unsafe there. When we came back. There was a wierd relief, that I didnt know how to explain to my Mom & Dad.\n\n Today as an adult. I know my subconscious was always telling me somesort of truth.\n\nIn Canada, its much safer. Definitely.

As a Canadian, who lived in the USA for a couple of years, now living a 15 minute drive from the border, I used to visit the USA very often - My American ex-wife used to work in Washington state 1 mile accross the border and commuted there daily. Nowadays though, since the vaccine debacle, most of my friends and family members no longer cross the border on a regular basis. With the way that politics has gone, the lack of gun controls and general lawlessness in the USA, travelling south of the border has lost all of it's appeal. As for moving there? NEVER !

The fact that you have to be “very particular” about what areas you choose to live in says the country is polarized by large disparities in standards of living because it lacks the social programs of most other western democracies. That alone is a reason to avoid moving there. Add mass shootings, religion in politics and no publicly funded health care and most Canadians can’t see a reason to move.

Well, as a Canadian, I guess i'll pitch in.\nWould I move to the US? The short answer is no. But I will explain more in detail.\n\nFirst, I do not see any advantages to the US compared to Canada. Americams often tout their country as the beacon of freedom and the land of opportunities, but I don't feel that Canada is so different there. We're actually higher on the world freedom index, and its not like our economy was in shambles and everyone dirt poor... We pay more taxes, fine, but we also get more services in return, and that last part has the advantage to remove a big layer of worry. Like, for healthcare, I don't have to worry if i'm covered by insurance or not, or if the insurance carrier will drop me on some technicality. I'm a citizen. All the basic needs are covered; no questions asked (and the healthcare quality is not half bad. We just prioritize urgent cases over non-urgent; so if you go to the hospital for something non-urgent, you will wait, and more urgent cases will pass before you. Annoying when it happens, but I understand and agree with that in the end)\n\nSecond, I do see a lot of disadvantages. All the points raised in the video are valid, from the private-sector healthcare system, the gun control laws (or lack thereof), the social policies and legislation in some states; they don't agree with me.\n\nI think it comes down to some specific social and cultural ideas that are prevalent or at least present in a substantial manner in the american society. Bear in mind that I am generalizing here, not every american believes these points, but many do. I'm talking about ego, nationalism/patriotism, secularism etc.\nI feel that the US often has a really overinflated vision of itself. Like, the idea that America is the best. At everything. Wich is factually not true, but this idea also poisons the debate on many issues, and tends to limit social introspection that could lead to real advances.\n\nI've also noticed that the american basic school system is strongly patriotic. Everyone in the US is taught a lot about the US themselves in school, but not much about the rest of the world. Not great for open mindedness and introspection when you have little comparison points.\n\nAndlets not delve into the religious aspect. I've seen a poll somewhere where 48% of americans were AGAINST the separation of church and state. For me thats not only insane, its dangerous. It fits the individualistic mentality where people can more easily start thinking that their way is THE way. It creates a very polarized society much more prone to high volatility.\n\nSo, yeah, no, I wouldn't live in the US. I'd much rather stay in Canada where i don't have to worry if I get sick or hurt, if some agressive drunk idiot in a bar is armed, or if some fundamentalists from some religious congregation is gonna be able to try to politically force their point of view.

As a Canadian I would consider a red state if I had to move there . Dont listen to tne boast about Canadian health care , waiting lists that could be two years , lack of doctors ( millions of Canadians don't have a family dr.) Overworked nurses and a lack of hospital beds ( you might wind up in a hallway )

Possibly northern states. Toronto is hot enough for me. As a nurse, I'd be paid better in the US. Housing costs seem better. But I couldn't afford health insurance. Disagree strongly with the politics and lack of separation between church and state.

Maybe Canadians are more concerned about gun violence than Tyler feels they need to be, BUT HERE IS WHY! \n\nAccording to USA today and Forbes magazine there have been more than 300 mass shootings so far this year and 200 people were shot on the 4th of July alone. These articles are dated July, 2023. A mass shooting was defined as 4 or more people killed or injured. There is a bbc article from May 2023 that states 48,830 people died of gun violence in 2021 in the US; that’s the population of a small city in Canada. Half those deaths were suicides, which occur because the guns are available. All of these articles mention the shear number of guns in the US, more guns than people, 120 guns per 100 people. So yes, I think Tyler is exhibiting his American bias and has become desensitized. His statements that it’s only in some places and to choose carefully where you live because violence isn’t every where are not borne out by the stats. These shootings happen in all corners of the country and every time they do people are shocked that it could happen in their safe little town. Think back to Columbine, Sandy Hook, Parkland, Uvalde these were not violent communities yet their schools were targeted. \n\nThe gun culture is high on the list of reasons I wouldn’t move to the US but do is politics, women’s rights, anti 2SLGBTQ legislation, health care, environmental protection laws ( or lack there of), lack of social programs, etc. Canada certainly isn’t perfect but I’ll take it warts and all over a US option. Don’t get me wrong I love to visit the US but living there is a whole different ball of wax. Thanks but no.

The USA is ok to visit but I’m even avoiding that for the last number of years. I guess I’m just not ready to see firearms on people in a line up at a store; knowing that many others are (legally) carrying concealed weapons. There are many other countries that reflect my values on individuals (women, LGBTQ etc), that would be a second choice after Canada. And of course, the healthcare (or lack thereof). I can’t imagine being in a country that doesn’t support the health of all of their citizens and not just those who contribute to the financial health of big business.

I would shoot myself before I would move to the USA (finding a handgun might be tough as they are generally not available at my local convience store) Health care is a very small part of it. 5 friends over 20 years being returned from the USA in body bags. US culture is very infantile and toxic. I have tried once for 2 weeks 20 years ago and I literally cried when the plane crossed back into Canada. Racism was so much more extreme than I could imagine. The worship of the Money God was horrible. Also all the small things like the fear enhanced news programs and desentization to human rights and lack of freedom. ???

I am Canadian, I was born here in the 60's, I've travelled around the world, including the US but have always lived and worked in Canada. I love my country. saying that now....\nThe last 10 years for Canada has been the worst ever in history, our government has destroyed the foundation of what it means to be Canadian and has made this country look very bad on the world stage.\nEventually that will change. This currently gives reasons why a Canadian wants to move from Canada.\nYou are right about the US, there are places you can move to that offer quiet, country, safe living but like Canada, those places usually trade the good life for lack of opportunity.. the difference is most of Canada gives you the good life and opportunity in the same place. Definitley desensitized by lack of choice regarding the school shootings. I remember the first time it truly shcoked me, when I realized (forget the year/time now) that there had beeen more school shootings in the US in ONE WEEK, than there had been in Canada in DECADES (I think I can count all of what we've had on one hand). Kids here grow up barely knowing (if at all until they are older) that it's even a thing.

Move to a small QUIET TOWN were Tyler, like Uvalde, Texas???❤??. The States don't only lack affordable physical health care, its the MENTAL HEALTH CARE!!! And the reasons for said MENTAL ISSUES ???. I wouldn’t move to the US and the medical is only the second reason my number one reason is your lack of freedom. For instance I have always had cats, at this moment I have three cats who are my pride and joy, two of them even go out for walks with me in a pet stroller and even came with me yesterday to the Scottish festival in my neighbourhood and the problem with moving to the US is Landlords can tell you that you have to get rid of your pets were here in Canada, in my part of Canada anyway it is going against your rights to tell you you can’t have your pet and there is no way in hell I would get rid of my cats they are my family and my only family so because of that I would not move to the United States

I spent a lot of time in the States as a child, mostly in the Los Angeles and Seattle areas. It was fun on the beach, going to Disneyland and it was nice staying with relatives and swimming in their pool everyday in the summer. However, I am Canadian and my heart belongs to Canada. Despite the fact that we as a nation do have our imperfections and problems, I am loyal to my country and want to contribute whatever I can to this place. Plus of course, there are the myriad aspects of life in the US mentioned in the video that I wouldn't be able to tolerate: lack of reproductive rights, attacks on the LGBTQ community, lack of safety/gun violence, no universal health care etc.

Everything that you said about Ontario is the opposite. If you uploaded this 8 years ago, it might still be applicable; but not anymore. Ontario & BC have the highest cost of living. Housing & rentals are skyrocketing day by day because of the lack of supply & high demand. It’s not Canada that I used to know 8 years ago.

The local hospital I work at has to close due to lack of nurses. That means people who need urgent care need to drive 45 minutes plus to get the help they need. Wanna know why? Because people can afford the rent required to go to school on the first place! Does the Canadian government expect Nursing students to sleep in the streets at night and study in the day? Good luck making that plan work at -40° C outside.

Lack of affordable housing -- lack of housing in general -- is the main reason people already living here are being priced out and why so many refugees and immigrants cannot afford the cost when they move here. When these people come to Canada for a better life and/or to escape the suffering that they were living in, they cannot bring their homes with them. It is the government's responsibility at all levels to ensure that these newcomers have a place to go when they come here. A homeless shelter should not be the answer. Buy up office spaces and convert them (if safe to do so with whatever codes need to be met) into affordable housing units. For years we've been seeing hundreds of news articles about vacancies in office buildings being at all time highs, yet only a handful of them are being converted. 500,000 people a year entering a country where there isn't enough housing for them (let alone the people living here already) is irresponsible on the government's part. If this is your pledge, at least give these people a better life and not send them to shelters or onto the streets as soon as they arrive. If Canada is to truly be a safe haven for immigrants and refugees escaping their hardships, it's paramount that the government does what it can to make these people actually feel like their life will change for the better. I'm all for immigration since it helps the economy and knowing that Canada can put people in a better position for themselves and their families, but it's the lack of preparation from the governments that makes me question their pledge in this way.

Canada is a joke. So we need skilled immigrants and we have nothing to offer to them due to lack of Canadian experience

I guess age matters... If you move to a country so vastly different to yours at 60+ it will definitely be a struggle. Transport, high currency conversion and lack of social life are the main challenges.\nBut i guess the biggest plus is the close proximity to children. So you have to prioritize.

A few quick points. \n\nDuring the 2009 recession, canada was positioned pretty strong, however if we didnt lower our interest rates our currency would have rissen to high in value and as a result made it too expensive for u.s companies to invest in it. \n\nThe downside was that it over inflated assets due to our strength and confidence in the housing market during the u.s. termoil.\n\nNow, our cost of living is incredibly high, and our tight lending policies on businesses make it difficult to scale within our own country, thus limiting good paying jobs. \n\nThe reason canadians dont invest as much in businesses is not because of lack of innovation and work, it is just much harder to acquire capital.

We need stronger borders. This is an outrage and the lack of respect these illegals have for the citizens is angering. In any other country if an American tribes that we would instantly get slapped spat on attacked ignored or worse. These people just think because it's America that they have every right. We need to fix us first … we went from the best country in the world to being in the top 10. So many thousands of bodies of children taken to residential schools from their parents arms and community for over 160 years yet the deep wounds aren’t given compassion by most people anymore and systemic abuse actively impacts them and therefore all of Us . We are all one whether we see people as other’ or not. We’re humans. \n They’re not seen in media unless it’s a bad story yet we’re only now teaching one mandatory class by non indigenous people. Solution: elders teach their grandchildren languages that weren’t erased by genocide and environmental /spiritual cultural practices and lifestyles before they’re gone by paying first people elders and streaming it into all Canadian classrooms so the children can see a future where they’re valued and all Canadian kids can get a full education and learn accurate history. Making canoes, baskets, sacred ceremonies, food growing (that they taught to pilgrims so they’d survive here), etc. No, I’m not indigenous. I’m an immigrant like all but the first people. They’ve an amazing culture that’s been all but lost . When we don’t see ourselves represented in any media, any careers, and start our lives in extended poverty based on our race, and all that was taken still today, it’s no wonder the teen suicide rate for indigenous youth is more than double / triple all non - indigenous youth. The numbers are growing. \nI live in Care due to my physical disabilities . An international nursing student worked for me providing personal care like showers, meal prep etc and over that year, she said she wouldn’t have moved here specifically because of a few things I’ve mentioned. She told me Canada was sold to people in her country of origin as a ‘multicultural’ safe haven without extreme racism still prevalent today and within our history. \n\nI’m ashamed of Canadian government promises for over 100 years that aren’t fulfilled. All children deserve healthy drinking Water and an education. Period. Especially, the ambassadors of this amazing land that they see as themselves without separation. That’s accurate. So many people fleeing their homelands around the world. Conflict, climate change, and lack of the bare necessities and all the little things we have come to expect from life. After centuries of undermining and overthrowing governments, and training militias to commit massacres, installing dictators, and cultivating robust drug economies the United States is seeing the exact fruit of our labor, the destruction of many countries, and a complete lack of surprise when their citizens find their countries unlivable and seeking refuge in the country hording and profiting from all the resources of the entire N and S American continents.
