How can gov officials be so retarded?? immigration doesnt affect housing. Government interference affects housing. Removing the LTB and changing tenancy laws to a free marketplace will open the floodgate, and everyone will want to become a landlord. Now, no one wants to, and this is what drives rental prices up. You have reduced supply due to harsh rules. If a tenant does not pay rent, they should be arrested for theft. Now, with the current laws, a 1 year lease means a lifetime lease. Who wants to rent for life? Who the hell is the government determining rental increase rates at 2% when inflation was at 7-10%? \nI can get a 1 year lease, and that agreement should be honored, but after that, it should be a free market. \n\nIf a landlord were to charge double, would anyone live there? It would have to be competitive and more people with homes would want to do it. Now most people dont want to due to the rules and this creates the shortage.

My suggestion is anyone entering in Canada must be trained about our rules and regulations. Anyone breaking the laws must be deported immediately. We want this country as it was few decades ago. There are only few people in the society who make it look bad for everyone else.

Everyone that was struggling before, is struggling even harder Now, everyone is feeling this burn in any way, shape or form, and the cost of living in Canada is insanity. Services that were helping people, survive, are being cut and money being removed for other things. This doesn’t make sense. I came here from Africa more than 11 years ago. This is not the country i fell in love with. We have literally only brought in Indians and Chinese. The government should have conducted thorough research before issuing invitations, ensuring that everyone can fully appreciate the beauty of Canada. In my opinion, it would be wise to take a few years for analysis and invite newcomers as needed.

I could honestly write an entire book about this—I’ve been living in Costa Rica for the past three years, and let me tell you, it’s been a wild ride. My personal experience has been okay, because I was lucky enough to be contracted directly by the company, so I didn’t have to deal with any agencies (best-case scenario). BUT wow, the struggles are so real. Life abroad is insanely expensive! Sure, you might earn more, but all that money? It goes straight to bills, and don’t even get me started on the “black tax”—if you know, you know?. Plus Everyone back home just assumes you’re living the dream, lounging on the beach like a millionaire, when in reality, you’re just trying to stay afloat! Everyone has an opinion about this, but the only fact that really matters is what people actually do. Currently about 10X as many Canadians per capita move to the US as Americans move to Canada. There really isn't much else to say. Canadians will always imagine themselves to be better, but the reality is people prefer to live in the US, including a lot of Canadians. Other than marriage, there's little to entice an American to move to Canada and the statistics bear this out.

My parents immigrated to Canada in the early 1980’s and both of my parents work 50hrs/week to have a house and send 3 kids to university. We are the second generation and we have a much better life. I have Australia friends who move here (Montreal ) last summer and they finally bought a condominium instead of renting coz they always dream to be owner which was very hard in their city. Everyone situation is different. But thinking Canada is a affordable country is a big misunderstanding.

Indian in Canada is the result of the policy of Canadian government. They are legally entering the countries attracted by better living standard offered to them by Canadian government and that everyone in the planet has similar desire to improve one's living. I do not think blaming all the problem to the Indians is justified. In fact, we should mainly blame the Canadian politician and the ones who voted them into office.
