There are majorly two types of ' outsiders ' that the government takes in : students and asylum seekers. Seen purely from financial viewpoint, homing and providing for the latter group makes no sense at all. They are a permanent leakage of funds without return..\nRegarding students, there are the undergrads who pay 5X times the Canadian students and they are the shock absorbers for fee burden on Canadian students. This category is precious, especially those studying in reputed colleges. Then there's the student who comes for post graduation studies, doesn't pay as much a undergrad but still a valuable resource. Then there's the diploma students who make studies as an excuse to get into the UberEATS, mcdo kind of Job market. Cap on them may be needed to protect Canadian interests. However the last category comes mainly from one province in India who has political clout in Canada, so it is the hardest to curb. Without making this distinction, if the government is going to lump all categories of students as one, then they are throwing the baby with the bathwater.\nIn any case, the person who gets the best of both worlds is the Chinese-Canadian

Parents come to Canada to provide free babysitting and cooking services to grandchildren . If they feel lonely it’s because they are not here to make friends but to stay at home . I one case , a grandparent fell ill in Canada and was sent back to India because of inadequate health insurance to take care of himself there on his own while the grandmother was not allowed to go and continued to babysit . These grandparents often are subjected to huge indignities. Lot of comments on how India is so good and Canada so bad . That is so ridiculous. I do not see people immigrating from Canada to India . I do not understand the tale about not getting fresh vegetables . Just step into Loblaws , Zehr , Metro and see what a lie it is . I agree many ethnic stores stock stale vegetables kept in unhealthy conditions . If food doesn’t taste good it’s became no one in the household , neither the grandparents nor the parents , can cook. That is because in India much of cooking is done by servants .

There’s an Indian loophole. Gain employment at Tim Hortons, Walmart, Amazon etc and you can get permanent residency. Right now Canadian politicians have a deal with certain corporations for cheap labour. If you work at any of those corporations, you will get PR. Simple as that. In Canada, there is not enough housing and jobs are scarce, especially for anyone at the entry level or basic wage. We've been absolutely swamped. This is not the fault of the immigrants or the students, it's the fault of our extremely stupid and short sighted government. Most of those immigrants I encounter are good people, polite and considerate. But some, well I understand where the complaints about rude and inconsiderate behaviour come from, because it only takes a few bad experiences to get people angry. I've experienced it myself, but most of it (from my experience) seems to be from students who are very loud and impolite on public transit. The housing situation here is INSANE, prices are sky high and very little to choose from. A lot of seniors now can only afford to rent a room (after having worked all their lives and very little to show for it), and prices are up about 50% from only 5 years ago. The government says inflation is a fraction of what it is in real life, and living expenses have exploded. As I understand it, some people made a lot of money offering services to bring students and low wage workers in, with no consideration to the damage they were doing to all of us who were born and raised here - they wanted to make their million dollars. Another problem is that once someone arrives here, what they find is NOT what they were led to believe. What students and immigrants are told they need to live here is an absolute lie, living here in Canada has become very expensive. Many workers are severely under paid, and never even see the legal minimum wage, and the problem with that is, almost no Canadian will be hired on to those jobs - the reasons are that imported foreign workers will work below minimum wage because they are trapped here, and the Canadians already know that they will only struggle if they take jobs that pay so poorly. So yes, a lot of Canadians are VERY angry, and you really can't blame them. Once again, the Canadian government is responsible for much of this, and crooked employers who are willing to take advantage of low wage labour. It's an absolute mess.
