I see this as nothing less than Trump wanting to do to Canada a slightly more palatable version of what Putin is doing to Ukraine. Trump has openly said he wants Canada to become the 51st state, even though this is a huge ask as Canada has a population larger than any US state (California is close in population size), Canada has a land mass nearly the size of the US and, including water mass, Canada has a larger overall area than the US. Trump also wants Iceland to be owned by America. He has become power crazy during a war because this is his only chance to stoke his ego to undreamable levels. Trump wants to be America's Putin.

It’s heartening that so many nations have solicited Canada, offering alternative sources for common US exports to Canada —citrus fruits, pharmaceuticals, and other manufactures, to name a few.\n\nI don’t think Canadians even realize how big this unofficial boycott is getting because it’s growing so fast. I’ve never seen a surge in Canadian patriotism like this. Never in my seven decades —which includes the two Referenda on Quebec separation. Trump led the charge to get rid of TikTok and then he left Office and it happened but he’s the one who started it all 7000 people lost their job jobs. He’s cutting Services to all American people with all these job losses and he doesn’t care!! He just cares about his wife, Elon, and making America white again! To start trade, wars is crazy when we’re just recovering economically from the pandemic, but he doesn’t care because being the president has made him rich because he breaks every law!!
