If you want to hurt US, you need to target their tech industry. A huge part of their economy relies on them. Add tariffs on Meta, SpaceX, Tesla, Google, Amazon, OpenAI, and make stricter regulations for them and ban them if you must. The only thing that can stop Trump is if Elon and his tech bros starts whining.

Canada uses tariff on US for a long time. Why is it that when US does the same thing it’s not right?
|
| 2025-03-05 | 0 |
Trudeau sucks there’s a reason for tariffs
|
| 2025-03-05 | 0 |
Trump mentioned before that integrating Canada into a part of US and it seems the plan didn't work so it might be normal to see worse tariff for Canada in the future
|
| 2025-03-05 | 0 |
Wait dont these tariffs violate nafta 2.0 agreement Trump signed himself???
|
| 2025-03-05 | 0 |
Well, if 25% tariffs existed, I don’t think Canada can do anything about it. President Trump won’t stop until it’s solved. That’s for sure!

American here that has extensive relationships in Canada. We don’t want this tariff war but the tariffs being implemented first by the Trump administration on behalf of US were punitive for violating USMCA and tied directly to the border defects. This was made known in advance and you repeated empty promises. Take your medicine and get well fast. Instead of doing that, you are taking an action that will beget reciprocal tariffs. Implement $30B and Trump will add $30B….add another $125B later and Trump will add another $125B. Heads up….America wants good partners and looks forward to being past this as well. In the meantime, we are prepared to pay more (or live with less) as we get back up on our feet. We have a lot of internal healing and cannot carry any other countries right now. Not sure if that was ever a good thing for either of us. Time to heal our broken ways ….sorry if you got used to our last administration being feckless.

If Canada has large rare earth deposits, Canada should offer it in joint venture to Donald Trump as shield to the 25% tariff imposed.

Tariffs hurts us, the consumers. Better off banning us products
|
| 2025-03-05 | 0 |
Canadians are Fvcked**. everything in their country before is expensive now its going to be more. US can absorb this tariffs and feel it after 5-10 years but canadians will feel it on day 1. while trump slowly lifting sanctions and trade again with china and rusia. EU and canada will have no choice but to stay in status quo becoz of their anti dictatorship and liberal position. US is very smart.

Blistering? Trudeau? Hardly. Petulant. Peevish. Snippety. Waspish. A weak argument from a weak leader. Tell me…why won’t Canada pay tariffs equal to what they charge the US? Do they expect an unfair advantage because they’re ‘less than’?
|
| 2025-03-05 | 0 |
Not a very good speech. Over 90% of drug traffic reduction in 1 month, which really proves what Trump said. US official knows that significant reduction, yet, they still impose the tariff. Why will you still spend so much money to help America if they do not appreciate? Grow a pair!!!
|

As a Republican... I agree with many things our country needs, like tougher border security and a crackdown on the government. I do not agree with tariffs to Canada, especially them. They have always stood side by side with us. The American taxpayers will pay the tariffs. Globalization is to limit our opportunities. Trump needs to think it through.
|
| 2025-03-05 | 0 |
Most people in America dont even know what a tariff is and what it means for them in America.......lol
|
| 2025-03-05 | 0 |
I am a staunch republican. But I believe Trump is seriously harming U.S. \nCanada is our friends and allies and he launches tariff attacks on them?!?!

LADIES AND GENTLEMEN OUR NATION IS UNDER ATTACK. TRUMP AND HIS CULT OF RIGHT WING REPUBLICAN EXTREMISTS ARE DISMANTLING OUR CONSTITUTION THE ONE THAT WAS ENACTED BY OUR FOUNDING FATHERS. THEY ARE ERASING OUR HUMAN RIGHTS AND OUR FREEDOMS AS WE SPEAK. JUST YESTERDAY THE GREENPEACE ORGANIZATION WAS SUED FOR 300 MILLION DOLLARS FOR DEFENDING OUR CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT TO A PEACEFUL PROTEST. THE STOCK MARKET HAS BEEN PLUMMETING, PLUMMETTING, IN RESPONSE TO THE NEW TARIFFS ON OUR CLOSEST TRADING PARTNERS. SOON THERE WILL BE MILLIONS OF AMERICANS LEFT WITHOUT HEALTHCARE COVERAGE, MILLIONS!!!!! MILLIONS OF CHILDREN AND MILLIONS OF SENIORS LEFT TO DIE!!!!!! DONALD TRUMP HAS FORMED A PACT WITH THE COMMUNIST RUSSIAN DICTATOR VLADIMIR PUTIN AND HIS MISSION IS TO OVERSEE THE DESTRUCTION OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. WE MUST MOVE QUICKLY TO IMPEACH AND REMOVE THE SATANIC THE FATHER OF ALL LIES FROM THE WHITE HOUSE BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE.

Trudeau is a communist who's destroying his country. He'll be out in a couple weeks. Look at the tariffs he has on American products. It's disgusting
|
| 2025-03-05 | 0 |
Well we know what happened last time this happened! Canada traded with Australia, Uk and all the Commonwealth countries around the world which only benefited those countries. America was the first to bend and scrapped the tariffs in the end! However in the meantime let’s do a deal Canada ???
|
| 2025-03-05 | 0 |
I don’t agree with Trump but I’m trying to understand this….So he (Trudeau) punishes his own nation with carbon tariffs then tells his nation how tough it’s gonna be now that a foreign president applies tariffs…I’m sorry I just don’t get it…instead of starting a fight that will hurt us even more, why don’t he just let go of the carbon tax to help the suffering…\nIs he actually care or is it just politics ?

there are pros and cons to these tariffs its not as black and white as this is terrible for the US.
|
| 2025-03-05 | 0 |
As long as Trump voters don’t understand that they need to pay for this, this stupid agenda of raising tariffs on foreign goods will continue.
|

Simple no drugs no tariffs
|

This guy's own people don't want him. Also what about the tariffs Canada already has in place against the USA
|
| 2025-03-05 | 0 |
Trump might be able to sell the idea of Fortress North America. Ensures something like tariffs can’t happen. Especially with America flip flopping every 4 years, But he’d have to stop antagonizing his allies. The better America does the better Mexico and Canada does. ?? ?? ?? ( C.U.M) ?. It would most likely involve ditching nato. And trying to still acquire Greenland somehow. NORAD would be expanded.

You act as if Canada hasn’t been putting tariffs on American products for decades. Remove all your tariffs and the US will too. Oh and pay us for our military protection. It’s really going to suck for you guys.
|
| 2025-03-05 | 0 |
Trudeau was right when he said it was dumb. The US tariffs are simply about bringing America to its knees and destroying America. That is why the country is being recklessly run. The idea is to destroy the American way of life and America. Have you seen a 3rd world country run. The fighting and the division in the 3rd world country? The events over the past weeks are not about efficiency. 1 worker doing 15 people's jobs. Who is running the government? Tariffs are one more thing to destroy America. US government federal workers all let go, paying government employees pennies on the dollars and lying to the American public about efficiency, farmers and textile workers that voted are stranded without jobs, social security being destroyed, programs being destroyed, Americans being lied to, Americans being taken advantage of due to poor knowledge and education, education being taken away and putting un-elected immigrants/foreigners to run/destroy America. Yes, the Tariffs are one more thing to put Americans in the street, turn off their electricity, take away their heating system, and make America into a poor 3rd world country. Trudeau and Canada are protecting its workers - federal and private and yes, all of Canada. Canada is United. Americans better find Unity like the Canadians are doing versus worrying about who voted Red or Blue.

canada only started to clean up fentanyl after u.s threaten them with tariff. also trudeau is suspiciously close with xijinping... meanwhile fentanyl source is china...

Canada is going to have to consider when working with the US Military is a security risk. Trump at some point will tell his generals he knows best as he does in every endeavor that he knows nothing about. Alignment with ruzzia and now tariffs, this is just the start.

I’m in America now and disappointed and disgusted by this and other things trump has done especially with Zelenskyy on Friday and now these tariffs! W. T. F!

Just canceled two cybertruck pre-ordered 5years ago. I’ll buy whoever makes car in Canada.Canada produces 1.4 millions vehicles annually and, sold 1.7 millions 2024. Put tariffs (50%?) temporary on all imported vehicles now? We must use our market to protect our manufacturers , NOW! Please Mr. PM !

How is this “escalation” as the commentary claimed? Canada is not even matching the extent of the US tariffs.
|

Make America small again ?? tariffs never create business instead watch how the BRICs countries grow more powerful in trade and economy, and China the Largest Superpower.
|
| 2025-03-05 | 0 |
Make that make sense! I couldn't have said it any better. Trudeau was never my favorite person in politics, but this latest stand against the tyrant that is just south of our great country! His justification for his tariff fantasy is the trade of fentinyl across the border and the flow of illegal immigrants to the U.S. As Trudeau has stated, paraphrasing a well known and respected publication, the Wall Street Journal, that this is a very DUMB move! That is an understatement. This is clearly not about drugs or illegal immigrants, it never was. Trump is supposed to be smart? This latest revelation proves otherwise. Just look at how they treated Zelensky during his last visit to the oval office. That showed a complete lack of respect! I fear we are in for a dismal for years!

Spot on. I left Canada because of all these issues. Any of my friends who are still there simply don’t understand that there’s a long term problem that has nothing to do with US tariffs. The country is weak, poorer than it needs to be, and not in a good spot due to focusing so much on real estate and immigration.

Tariffs, a tax on the poor to enrich Trump's billionare tech bros.

Mr Trump says the Tariff is good for America economy. He spoke about that in Congress. Of course it will have a boomerang effect but certainly he and his administration have discussed about it and decided the best for America.

Canada could consider offsetting losses inflicted by the new tariffs by reducing border control spending, allowing the USA to cover the costs.
|
| 2025-03-05 | 0 |
The real reason US put tariffs on Canada: \n\nCanada has zero nukes- so they have zero deterrence. The USA has 3,748 nukes.
\nCanada has zero aircraft carriers. The USA has 11 nuclear aircraft carriers. The entire rest of the world has 16, but only one is nuclear.
\nCanada has zero destroyers! The USA has 65 Top Tier destroyers.
\nCanada has only 85 operational fighter jets, but they are outdated and scheduled to be replaced. The USA has 2,740 with 786 being the latest Gen.
\nCanada has 82 Leopard 2 tanks and only some are third Gen. The US has 8,100 tanks and they are all third Gen.
\n2.3 million Canadians own 12 million guns, but many are low caliber and low use/capable. Canadians privately hold about 2.3 Billion rounds of ammo, but most is smaller caliber hunting rounds.
\n81 million Americans own about 400 Million guns with extensive capabilities and usability, including permitted full automatic. The storehouse of privately held ammo is massive in the range of 2 to 25 trillion rounds.
\n40% of Americans are raised in a gun culture and develop and hone their weapon use skills for a lifetime. 22% of Canadians have a similar gun culture.
\n
\nCanada has gotten away with having a weak military and saving enormous costs by not having to produce or buy military equipment. \n\nThe USA has never charged a fee for providing deterrence to potential enemies, and in fact pays Canada on a massive trade deficit instead. Canada exacerbates their precarious situation, by continuing to take guns away from their population.

Don't worry Tariffs are paid for by Canada I really do not know if he is so stupid he believes that or he knows and does not care either way it is so dumb and hurtful to think otherwise. The last time tariffs like this were in place was the late 1800's and early 1900's. If anyone know this time it was the time of the oligarchs like Rockefellers Carnegies that road the backs of the everyday Americans making them the richest people in the world. Notice a theme here, I do!!

That’s not blistering speech. Just a heart broken friend asking America to reduce tariffs and mend the ties.

Today is 25% Trump Tariff Day.\n\nThis was brought on by our own government.\n\nTrump explained that Canada treats the US unfairly and have been taking advantage of them for a long time. \n\nHere is a list of tariffs Canada Imposes on U.S.\nGoods:\n\n⁃ Dairy Products:\n⁃ Milk: 270%\n⁃ Cheese: 245%\n⁃ Butter: 298%\n⁃ Poultry: 238%\n-Eggs: 163%\n⁃ Barley: 160%\n⁃ Wheat: 94%\n⁃ Sugar: 265%\n⁃ Peanut Butter: 295%\n⁃ Rice: 150%\n⁃ Vegetables: 100%\n⁃ Fish Products: 100%\n⁃ Lumber: 20%\n⁃ Shoes: 30%\n⁃ Cocoa: 30%\n⁃ Metals: 25%\n⁃ Wool: 30%\n⁃ Tobacco: 100+%\n\nTrumps responsibility as the President of The United States of America is to the American people. Not us.

From the Midwest U.S, I support Canada and Mexico! We don’t want tariffs. We want ALL our economy to prosper! Not to crash them down! Otherwise, if we place tariffs, ALL OF US will be hurt. ALL COUNTRIES. ALL citizens regardless of income levels will feel it. \n\nRising egg prices? Just tonight (as of the evening of March 4) he blames it on Biden and the administration when he’s not even the president! I cannot believe we voted for a president who points fingers rather than taking accountability. \n\nAs an American, I only want to apologize to the world for voting for this bully (I never voted for him, but he won anyways.) I wish you all the best.

I wish I could say that America wasn’t responsible for the Tariffs, but unfortunately over half of my idiotic, hateful countrymen voted the psychopath into office, namely Trump. I am sorry though. Canada is a beautiful nation with lovely people.
|
| 2025-03-05 | 0 |
Blistering, I wouldn't call Trudeau blistering, more like blustering.\n\nThe Canadians will be hurt more by the tariffs than Americans. ?
|

This is all just noise, at some point Trump is gonna give the top 1% a 2000..4000 Billion $ tax cut, claiming the tariffs paid for them
