If you are an American citizen and you are siding with Canada, you are a TRAITOR!!! As an American, a woman of African descent and an immigrant, I 100% understand why my President has taken the hard but necessary decisions that he took. It is time for other citizens of the world to realize that the USA is NOT HEAVEN, and America is NO SANTA CLAUS!!! However, I don't want people to forget that this individual talks about making things affordable for their citizens. There is a reason he has resigned. Don't forget that our country unreasonably fights itself on sooooo many things that make items in Canada so much more expensive than they need to be. I was hopeful our own government would make living more afforable for all Canadians by putting a freeze on things such as the Carbon Tax....guess that wasn't in the cards!? As a European I stand with Canada. I lived in the Us and many Americans are wonderful. However this administration has lost its values and soul. Canada and the E.U should work together closely. And why not join the E.U? Our values are the same. And We must be united against he great imperialists threats coming from Russia and, now, America. \nAs a consumer I decided to boycott American products whenever possible. Don't buy Canadian Bacon, Maple Syrup and other Canadian goods. Canada is NOT the closest ally of the US and has long in fact been like the Karen nation of North America who is massively passive aggressive to the US, and outright hatred for the US is rampant among many Canadians. 25 percent 155 billion which is dwarfed by the trade imbalance of the many billions more of Canadian goods that go to the US, mostly it is American Alcohol that goes to Canada, to fuel the drunks of Canadian society, so Homeless alcoholics in Canada might truly suffer. How is more sobriety a bad thing Trudeau? This might be fantastic for people who drink alcohol to make a break with the booze they have been needing. \n\nThe rest of us, who don't buy Canadian goods nor own or invest in American alcohol won't feel anything. In fact we pay more for mailing stuff to Canada from the Canadian postal service. \n\nWe learned not to mail stuff to Canada. We are ok now living with that limitation.

It is interesting to see how many people believe they are right supporting Trudeau (and Selensky) and not realizing they are too dumb to understand the whole picture. USA can be happy to have a president who finally ends the big Deep State scam against the own taxpaying people. Canadian here. Wake up Canadians. Many people are praising Trudeau for this speech. Don't. He is out as Liberal leader within the week. He doesn't have to follow through on anything he said. Plus, he just stated that he's smart enough to suggest that Trump just put a 25% tax on Canadian goods for Americans but he also thinks that you are dumb enough not to realize that he just put a 25% tax on Canadians for American goods. Trudeau basically created the situation for these tariffs (open border to let anyone come here). He loves this as he gets to take the apparent moral high ground for the first time in his life and wants this speech to be the way he is remembered rather than years of failing Canada. Forget about the last 9 years and vote Liberal if you are a fool.

Many people seem shocked that the US is acting this way towards its “closest ally.” Let’s not forget that in the days and weeks following 9/11, when a town like Gander, Newfoundland took in thousands of Americans when airplanes were grounded, the US was initially blaming Canada for its lax border and immigration laws in allowing terrorists into the US. They even suggested a number of the Al-Qaeda terrorists in those airplanes had entered from Canada! ? We seem to be an easy target for our ‘close’ friends sought of the border.

Canada has known for decades that we have put too many eggs in one basket - selling our resources primarily to the USA. We've had tariffs before and worked with them. Yet we still keep selling to the USA. This time is different. In conjunction with the tariffs, we have an American administration that is flat out insulting Canada. Saying we wouldn't exist economically if it wasn't for the USA. It's at a time when the USA won't promise not to use military force to annex land (Greenland) from a decades old ally. A time when clearly Putin is calling in his chips for whatever he has over Donald Trump. Canadians have had enough. We are directing our governments, provincial and federal, to finally, finally break from the north-south trade links. We need to establish stronger east-west trade links. The resources we have are wanted by many countries if the USA does not want them. It does mean much work within Canada. We need to get our AB-BC pipeline finished as well as the new sea terminal so we can ship our crude oil and natural gas to Japan and if need be, to China. We finally need to get out pipeline to the Atlantic coast finished so we can supply the UK and EU with our products. We need to double our rail capacity for shipping potash, uranium, rare minerals to Asia or Europe. Just as Trump hopes for a golden age of American companies coming home and building new plants in the USA, this will be a golden decade for Canada to create transportation corridors to get our resources to other buyers. America will have to look elsewhere for his raw materials. And we all know what that is - RUSSIA. They've already offered their rare minerals and crude oil. This is all clearly a well thought out scenario from the people working behind Trump to dismiss America's allies and trading partners - have us turn against the USA - as the excuse to open the door to Russian imports into the USA.

As a result, Canadians may face more significant challenges, as their economy relies more on U.S. trade than the United States' reliance on Canada. Overall, Canada has a less developed economy and limited global influence.

Trump's going to bankrupt the U.S. just as he has many of his businesses. As an American, I can't wait to move up to Canada. I'm absolutely embarrassed to be a born and raised American citizen. I'm embarrassed and ashamed by many other fellow citizens and by the choices the current government is making. I'm also continually perplexed and ashamed by the continued mistakes our country continues to make every damn year and decade.
