A man who thinks not about the interests of the US people, but about the interests of a handful of billionaires, including political circles in Russia and China. The war against Ukraine is just the tip of the iceberg of the war of the ruling dictatorships of the Russian Federation and China against the poor strata of the people of their own countries, against Western civilization and the US and the EU as a part of it. This is clearly seen in the propaganda against human rights and freedoms in these countries, the destruction of trust between people. What to do in this case? Wait until the US as one of the foundations of modern civilization is destroyed by short-sighted supporters of anarchy, monarchies and psychopathic dictators who do not respect other people's borders and treaties? Doesn't Trump's actions contradict the basic principles of the US and Western civilization? The United States is a country of democracy, humanism, human rights and freedoms, a country that has become home to the world of many people who have improved the quality of life of billions of people all over the planet. Question: When will the current US President/poppet of dictatorships be impeached?

Most of the people don’t realize that Trudeau has helped people and businesses during COVID and avoided millions of deaths unlike US. He did really well curbing the inflation by increasing the interest rates and decreasing it back in time, has been polite to all the haters at the same time and brought enough workers into Canada to prosper the country and businesses on the right path. 2/3rd of the Canadian population disagrees, and that’s sad. Trump has destroyed trust in US allies, and it can ont be repaired easy. Trust can be destroyed in minutes, but it takes many years, maybe decades, before it can be gained again. It affects not only what US experiences right now with Canada and Mexico. Be sure that even Taiwan Australia and all other Asian allies are questioning right now if USA can be trusted. Imagine, Trumps breaks a treaty with Canada and Mexico which he personally has established in his first presidency and sold to his people as the greatest deal that has ever been archieved. I don't know if that is true, but it would explain a lot of why Trump is acting as he does - it is not in the interest of USA, pressurizing/blackmailing/offending/humiliating US allies and destroying US and foreign economies. Canada uses tariff on US for a long time. Why is it that when US does the same thing it’s not right?

American here that has extensive relationships in Canada. We don’t want this tariff war but the tariffs being implemented first by the Trump administration on behalf of US were punitive for violating USMCA and tied directly to the border defects. This was made known in advance and you repeated empty promises. Take your medicine and get well fast. Instead of doing that, you are taking an action that will beget reciprocal tariffs. Implement $30B and Trump will add $30B….add another $125B later and Trump will add another $125B. Heads up….America wants good partners and looks forward to being past this as well. In the meantime, we are prepared to pay more (or live with less) as we get back up on our feet. We have a lot of internal healing and cannot carry any other countries right now. Not sure if that was ever a good thing for either of us. Time to heal our broken ways ….sorry if you got used to our last administration being feckless.

They also do not have to pay for military since they are right next to us. They should be doing whatever we want. Canada was sending recyclable trash to the Philippines. When the trash arrived it was not recyclable. Philippine president said stop sending but Canada continued to send it. So finally he said if you send one more ship, we will declare no war on you. And if that happened, without US help, even the Philippines would destroy Canada in a war. Way more fighting aged males and Canada has a worthless military. Canada has a GDP of 5-10% of US. So Trudeau acting tough is hilarious. Like a chihuahua barking at a grisly bear. If push came to shove, in the time of US war need, the US would simply take whatever it wanted from Canada. That's what happens when you don't develop your own substantial military-just like Europe now.

I’m a 53 year old Canadian. I went to college on an athletic scholarship & lived there for 10 years after turned professional in my sport. Why, why, why - with all the problems going on in the world right now to tackle - why would you want to start a trade war with your closest trading partner & most loyal ally? Not to mention that your list of Allies is shrinking daily. This is not going to end well for either of us. \nI just arrived home from a trip to the grocery store - making sure nothing in my cart said “ made in the USA” on it due to the new tariffs that began today. \nThe irony is, many of the states where Trump won by the biggest margin, are the states that are going to get hit the hardest from Canadian retaliation tariffs ( Iowa, Kansas, Nebraska, Indiana, the Dakotas - just to name a few). A lot of farmers in those states are going to be hit extremely hard with the fertilizer tax. After Canada, the next 3 largest Potash producers are Russia, Belarus & China. So , good luck \nWhen the cost of fruit & vegetables skyrocket across the US. Maybe you’ll put a little more thought into your vote 4 years from now.

As an American. I don't think it was a good thing to bully other countries, especially allies and neighbors. There are other diplomatic ways to do things. I am not left or right, but I felt like Obama and Clinton had better ways with international relationships. I know our leader are trying to do their best for us Americans, and well we have been helping other countries for decades. Maybe, it is time that other countries start paying us back. Thanks for making it clear what you did right but not making it clear on what the US administration wanted from you that you said no to that caused the tariff implementation. It's possible you miss 50% of your illegal border crossings into the u.s. since so much of your border isn't secured. The 1900% increase in illegal crossing in the past few years doesn't look very good. It's dumb to assume you did everything right and then the u.s. just randomly decided they'd continue with the tariffs for fun. Be more honest and say where you put your foot down so the American public can better understand what is going on.

First acknowledge that a country has the right to control its borders. The US has lost its Aircraft industry (Boeing), its Car industry (Detroit) and now its Semiconductor industry (Intel). Millions of unscreened people are infiltrating. Trump is trying. In the case of Canada and Mexico tariffs are counter-productive. Its tough to turn a declining empire around. His strategy is to tax foreign goods instead of taxing US resources and to force local production. The US citizen pays either way.
