I live in Canada as a Kenyan and I have been here for sometime .I work as a HR/Payroll Specialist also certified in the field. The problem is not Canada , Canada is a very good county which I love and I am gland God gave me the Opportunity to Come and settle here with my family.. The problem with some people coming here is lacking of knowledge how Canada works .It’s system is very far from how things work in Dubai or Gulf countries. A lot people are thinking than you can just come and get any job even without proper papers or you can earn a lot of money and then build wealth quickly. Which is A BIG FAT LIE. The tax in Canada keeps you humble. That is how Canada funds it's high end life many admire and want to be part of. The more you work in Canada the more tax you pay and many don't know this, and it is one of the main reasons why a lot of people start to regrets, because they realize there effort of working hard is not paying as they hoped. Another thing in Canada is next to impossible to get jobs or rent a place without proper paper work, like work permit, It is not like USA where you can use someone else papers to work. the The main available jobs , easy to get , don’t pay much. And also the cost of living is very high in some provinces like Ontario and BC. They hardly recognize credentials from outside unless you came through a job offer. Also because a lot of things in Canada are paid by the government through taxes, like health care, education. Unless you are tax paper with (and I repeat) Paper work, you cant access the benefit, including thee free food available for the needy. \nMany people forget Canada is looking for people to work for them. Not to grow rich and leave. The system is meant to keep you working. Unless you understand how a system of a country works, one will continue to blame it. Let people get well informed and well educated first , before they jump in the river. And it’s not Canada a lone , but any country in the world. Also a lot of these media post about Canada are misleading. And there is also another trap called debt, a lot of people once they getting working, rush to but things they cant afford and it becomes a stress instead of a blessings.\nIf you want to live well and enjoy Canada . One of the top thing to do is, go back to school once you enter in it, get a good education and you will get a good job. Also give yourself time to adjust. REMEMBER you are starting from square one. You are not continuing where you left in Kenya or in the country you get from. Also, the general social climate is not as friendly as those in USA for example. Not many people are willing to help for free. The most jobs advertised in Canada are the lower end paying jobs, which a lot of people pay a lot of money to come for, just to realize the job they left behind was far much better than this, but no one told them that, just because it said $18 hrs and you converted it to your country and looked a lot, doesnt mean it carries the same wait once you earn in from here. The living expense are very different. The reality is, it is not where you are , but whom you are and determination knows no barrier. Anyone who will trust God for help, work hard/smart and be patience in life, they will make. It might take longer than they expect, but they will get their eventually.

Toronto is a shabby town. It's as if God did a dump of diarrheic concrete that spread and hardened into the GTA. Torontonians walk around in their sweats and hoodies and think they have style! A big city with small pockets of genteel wealth that are self-enclosed little bourgeois communities of champaign socialists. Cabage town is an example. Beaches is another. For all the high taxes we pay. Nothing works, its all broken and cracked. Vancouver is the superior city for food, fresh air, beauty and most importantly. Everyone is much better looking in Vancouver.

I have a chronic pain disability. I can't even fathom trying to manage that in the US healthcare system. Like Tyler mentioned, that alone is enough of a reason for me. 2 party system is also a hard no (even though it hurts that we're not much better right now). Gun culture is a no for me, it's not an environment I care to be a part of. I hesitate to use safety at school as an example because I remember when Taber followed on the heels of Columbine (I was in grade 9 that year). There's a lot up here in Canada that we need to improve, but with what I value as a Canadian I certainly would feel like I was downgrading if I moved to the US. Heck, as an Albertan even moving to another province would feel like a downgrade to me since I have no PST where I live, we're rat free, I live within an hour of the Rocky Mountains, etc.

That’s can someone submit two applications at the same time? For example, if one submit an application for Atlantic Immigration Program to get a job in the respective Atlantic provinces, then at the same time, submit another application for a student visa, are there any advantages or consequences? Assuming you first obtained the student admission confirmation, and decide to proceed with that, Will you be denied student visa bcos of your previous application for PR? I'm Canadian and worked in Dertoit for almost 10 years, I crossed the border daily working for GM. I've also done work in Louisiana, Indiana and all around Michigan. \nAmerica has some of the nicest people I've ever had the pleasure of knowing. It's a beautiful country and has a ton to offer anyone with an ounce of drive. The variety you have in your economy is amazing, we don't have a lot of choice when we buy stuff, you guys have so much more to choose from, take restaurants for example, I've never seen so many chain restaurants in one place, we have a handful of them. \nFrom what I've seen, there's also a lot of poverty, crime and violence, but that's literally everywhere right now, even here in Canada, we don't prosecute violent crime anymore. The gun issue is probably the biggest problem...I always felt extremely vulnerable out in public, especially driving, because I assumed everyone had a gun on them, I seen so many random guns on people, it just blew my mind. I always had to keep in mind when I was driving not to road-rage...That's how you get shot. The health care industry in America is nothing but a business model designed to bankrupt people. Our system isn't great at all...nothing to boast about. If you have to visit the ER at any hospital, you'd better bring food and water, you'll be there at least 8 hours before you're even seen by a doctor. Our health care is free yes, but we're taxed to death here because of it. I do indeed wish we had a 2-teir health care system, I want the option to pay to get seen soonest. America and Canada have free(ish) speech. We're both being ruled by leftist loonies, but that's all changing in our next respective election cycles. Biden and Trudeau will be shown the door and we can hopefully get back to healthy debate and more conversation in society...Instead of automatically dismissing each other, vitriolic badgering one another and hating each other. We had unity for a brief time, we all saw it, after 9/11 happened. We put our petty crap aside and saw each other as brothers and sisters. That didn't last very long and we've been in a constant state of crisis ever since. The media has driven a huge nail right through society, and takes a blow at every single issue we face, making it Left vs Right...\nIt's unfortunate to say, but it's going to take something truly devastating, possibly on a biblical scale, for us to come together again.

Tyler, thanks for your entertaining and fun videos. My grandfather is a dual citizen but has never renewed his passport or anything and when asked to do so, he outright refuses. He says he hated living there. We live in the Vancouver area of Canada right now. My wife is finishing her registered nursing degree and we are considering moving to washington state, within an hour or so of the Canadian border on temporary work visas (TN1) for a few years. The main reason is the cost of living differences, mostly in housing but a lot of things are cheaper down there too. For example though, the costs of rent or to buy a house in the Vancouver area is insane - 1.5 million is generally a starting point. The cost of a detached house south of the border between Bellingham and Blaine starts around $400,000 ($500,000 CDN). If renting, it's crazy cheaper than here. \n\nThe area we are considering going to is very close to the canadian border, I've never heard of major violence problems in the area. Like one of the other comments you read, we're basically considering moving there to take advantage of a lower cost of living and higher salaries for a bit to try to get ahead. Living in the Vancouver area is such an absolute DRAIN on our finances that it is intolerable. If we didn't move to the US, we'd have to find another place in Canada to go to, but we do like the climate on the coast here. I'd actually just keep commuting to Canada daily to work in Canada since it's so close to the border, and writing the bar exam to be able to practice law in any US state except California, Massachusets, or New York is a pain in the backside to even be able to write it, let alone prepare for it. Just easier for me to keep working here unless we decided to try to make a permanent move somewhere further from the border.\n\nIf we decided to change our minds and apply to stay in the US in the future, there are a lot of the other considerations that other people have raised on top of my own ability to continue as a lawyer. Gun violence in the US is crazy, extreme polarized political views and increasing intolerance against diversity of race, culture, religion, (and while it doesnt affect us directly, it bothers us how LGBTQ people are increasingly targeted with backwards policies and by certain segments of the public), the health care system in canada has it's problems but it's also got it's strong points. We'll never go bankrupt because of a health care issue since we can move back to Canada IF it's ever a problem. Thankfully we are all pretty healthy so it shouldn't be much of a problem for a while at least. And we wouldn't even move there at all if her employment as a nurse doesn't offer health care and better pay than she can obtain here. \n\nOur kids will probably attend post-secondary (college/university) in Canada as dual citizens unless they get a scholarship to a top US school. The costs of post-secondary in Canada appears to be much cheaper than in the US and we have some good colleges/universities that consistently rank high globally.

As a Canadian that works closely with the government, the other issues that the tax rate in Canada is very high. Even you get a good paying job or a profitable business, a significant portion of your paycheck/profits goes to the government. There is also a lot of bureaucratic and legislative hurdles to overcome and too little incentives when trying to start or develop a business. For example, to build a high density residential building, it takes around 1 - 2 years of planning and studies, then another year to get all the permits and government paperwork, then 2 years of construction. It takes around 5 years to build a new residential building. Canada's housing affordability problem is not just simply cause by people willing to buy property, it is also cause by a significant shortage of housing supply due to all these regulations and hurdles. If you can't find affordable housing and your income is also heavily tax, a lot Canadians will go south to the US where things are a lot more affordable.

I already knew that Canada had a lot of in common with Australia but this an another thing we have in common. We're not as entrepreneurial and innovative as the US but we have a resources economy and people tend to invest in property (because it's a safe investment).\n\nI would still much rather live in Australia or Canada than the US though. Universal health care, for example.

In these kind of comparaisons, it's always important to keep in mind that Canada has 10 provinces and 3 territories. Each province and territory have their own way of doing things. So it's pretty much like 13 countries into 1. One thing in Ontario is not gonna be the same as in BC for example. So, whatever someone experiences in Ontario will not be the same elsewhere. Like taxes for example, it's different from 1 province to another. So, it's best for someone who wants to move to Canada to do their research on each province because they do things differently from one another. \n\nAlso in terms of traveling to countries that are closer, yes the UK gets a point because all the other European countries are closer. But in Canada, when you leave a province for another one it sometimes feels like you left for another country ? . Besides the US and Mexico, Canadian also go to Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, Brasil, Argentina, Turks and Caicos(lots of Canadian go there that at one point the island was even considering becoming the 11th province of Canada ?) .\n\nIn terms of diversity, it's not that much different from the UK. All the big cities are very diverse, just like the UK. Also, Toronto is the most diverse city in the world.

I'm surprised taxes wasn't your first point as for most immigrants that's the most shocking thing about Canada is the insane amount of taxes we pay, as for the education thing I agree with our policy for example while I was studying Architecture a Syrian lady who came as a refugee had an engineering degree in syria in order for her to work in the field she needed a Canadian degree as she was knowledgeable she flew through the courses almost impeccably on the other hand there was an Indian civil engineer but he struggled in everything except the math, he confessed to another classmate that he bought his degree and was completely clueless, he failed out in the first year... in my mind its a good way to separate the professionals from the liars

Canada is a perfect example.\n\nAs someone who worked for the largest hospital chain I can tell you that 30% of our revenue at hospitals we owned along the US northern border came from Canadian citizens. It kind of makes you wonder, if Canadians get amazing high quality free healthcare, why would they drive to another country to pay for it? \n\nThe truth is anybody in the countries that have socialized medicine that can afford to, ops for private care. I like to point out another thing from that point about there being 40 countries in the US. Even different parts of the same “country” separate themselves from others. As a Baltimore citizen I can say for example that we do not consider ourselves a part of the DMV. We are just Baltimore. It's sad how many scams there are. This is just another example. I hate to say it but the scam started with recruiting in India. Where most of the scams you hear about start. All the calls we get and the online scams seem to start in India too. The cost of living  is the money needed to sustain a certain comfort level in a location. The cost of living covers basics like housing, groceries, taxes, and healthcare. Some countries have a very high cost of living particularly in areas surrounding large cities. For example, in the USA cities like New York and San Francisco have a very high cost of living, while areas such as rural Mississippi,  Kansas or Oklahoma  may be notably more affordable . Moreover, no matter where in the U.S. (or the world) one lives, costs may be lower still—or even higher—in another country. Some nations have a very low cost of living. Canada is still one of the world's best countries to live in.

All of those home costs sound ridiculously high for a country with virtually limitless land and natural resources. And what about cultural issues? I'd probably like Alberta because it leans conservative, being Jordan Peterson's homeland and everything, but somebody else might like another province for weed and whores, or gay stuff, for example.

You forgot - there is no way to buy a house (unless you rob a bank, even lottery won't help). You are girls, so that is already fixed for you. A subtopic - 80% of jobs are not advertised anywhere (this is discrimination even when all canadians swear they are not). Networking to get a job is like mafia - you have to know the right people. Interesting and entertaining to see this from an outsider’s perspective. I’ve been to every province, and they all have a lot to offer, but you barely touched on one vital metric: Interprovincial Migration. Of course there are always people moving from one province to another for work, marriage, etc.; for example, lots of people move to Alberta to work, when it’s booming, but one province consistently enjoys the highest Net interprovincial immigration rate: British Columbia. That’s a pretty strong indicator that B.C. is where Canadians most Want to live; which, of course, is exactly why our property values are so insanely high!

As a Canadian in Toronto, surrounded by a vast diverse community, I full understand that professionals, such as doctors, lawyers and engineers arrive here to find that their education credentials do not meet Canadian standards. They are subjected to the need to upgrade education and experience to be certified for that profession. What I do not understand is why, a doctor for example, ends up driving a cab, working in the fast food industry or another minimum wage job. If they are a certified and experienced physicians one would think that their skill would at least allow them to be a very valuable asset to Canadaa as a PSW (Personal Care Worker), laboratory technician or in a nursing environment.  A PSW, a lab tech or a nurse is going to earn two to four times more than a taxi driver and allow them to afford to upgrade their skills to receive their full professional certification.  Canada may be wasting a very valuable asset.

Nobody touched the politics in Canada. I guess, it is the #1 reason to leave Canada. Both leading parties Liberal and Conservative equally irresponsible in taking decisions, they care only about staying in power, no solving real, tough problems. \nThe education in schools is too basic. In many cases is incomparable with education in other developed countries, Asian, for example...\nThen after....another disturbing tendency- radical liberal education- \nsexeducation in school - fluid gender identity theory. \nGovernment tries to do ratification of some very controversial laws about changing gender (sex) for kids from 12 years old without parents's permission. I found it is too radical, too dangerous for kids feature. \nThink one more time, would you like to raise your kids in a such political atmosphere? I think is it the most important question! I am so disappointed in Canada. So much worries for parents and confusion for children. We ready see some sad \nresults.

I am surprised to see that a person who has not spent a single minute in Canada enters the country as a permanent resident . has not paid a single dollar in taxes enters as a permanent resident. has not played his part in Canada's society and doesn't know fuck about Canada enters as a permanent resident of Canada. it does not surprise me to see people commenting about residents living in Canada do not speak English. \n \nI will give an example of the UK here which is far more developed than Canada and have very high standards. first of all, no one can enter the UK as a permanent resident of the UK. even if their partner is British, they will still come to the UK on a visa. depending on how much their British partner earns, it will take 5 to 10 years for them to settle in the UK, provided they pass the residency test in the UK(which Canada does not ask for whether you are in Canada applying for a PNP or PR or you come directly from another part of the world). a person who gets in the UK as a student spends minimum 7 years, if he is not married to a British /EU national to get a PR, most spend 10 for a UK PR(known as ILR in the UK) provided they pass the test for English and life in the UK (citizenship test). in return, the UK offers to its residents what no other nation offers. canada is giving away residencies as if its a leaflet. it's easier to get a Canadian residency than it is to extend a skilled visa in the UK. I have lived in Canada and felt that standard of living in canada is not very high as compared to the UK. so if Canada offers easy residency to people, it is only because they also know they are not giving away something precious :)

This is another example of white collar crime getting a slap on the wrist. Dude makes $10 million dollars illegally and is only fined $900,000 (9 percent of his proceeds of crime) then is sentenced to 7 years in jail and serves only 2. Somebody passes a bogus $300 bank cheque and gets more time than that. It's nice to see that something was actually done but this guy should have been deported with all his assets seized. If he did this in China he would be spending the rest of his life in a prison labour camp.

I know racism exist being Mexican living in Mexico, I have experienced that. Although the shopping and looking for apartment experiment is great, has anyone stop and think yes it is about race or color of the skin but also a interesting point is your clothing and overall appearance instead of the skin sometimes, when shopping if I see someone entirely dressed in black with hat and some sunglasses isn't that suspicious (of course is discriminating but I have to use that example in order to make my point) instead of actual color of the skin? I think that's another aspect to further study, how you dress and the image you project is a factor for discrimination itself, instead purely based on the race.

I used to be a very liberal person for most of my life and tolerant of other cultures and religious faith, like many others I may add.\n However my tolerance is wearing somewhat thin, like many others I may add again, after hearing the same old opinions coming from Muslims repatriated in western societies. \n They come into our cultures on mass and never assimilate into ours, but create their own little pockets of cultural being within our national borders.\n We hear time and again how the indigenous populist must be accepting of them, even though very few are accepting of our culture, using an analogy it's akin to inviting a stranger into your home and give them a safe place to live, food, money and all items that go along with it, and the next thing their sat on your favourite chair with your remote in their hand, even going to bed with your wife!\n We need to wear our head covering it's our right they chant, OK then, afford the same favours to us in your country, let my partner wear her bikini when she's walking down the road, let us drink alcohol, build Christian churches, you get where I'm going with this.\n If it's so great there why do you choose to live here? Why are the police not arresting these vigilante groups and the courts judging them harshly. I could only imagine the reaction of the police if white English vigilante groups patrolled the streets! Double standards and another example of the minority being treated differently than the majority!
