So proud of OUR PM, this is going to hurt us and Americans, but we have to protect our land and people. We still love our American brothers but not your government. ??

We need more of this European Mexican and Canadian leaders talking directly to the American people cuz our government is actively lying and hurting us understand this is not by mistake it's very deliberate..

Speaking as an American. A REAL American who stands by our Constitution and the laws of our land and not with a TRAITOR. We do NOT want this. I have always been clueless to how Americans can hear what this traitor says and support it. It reminds me of the movie Shalow Hal. The woman was fat and unattractive but the guy saw this slim beautiful model. This is American right now. We have this Fat Traitor and some Americans see this STRONG Man who is going to make their lives wonderful by hurting all the black and brown people. Right out of the gate he’s telling them all he’s here to hurt and harm every American, but will still hurt and harm black and brown people the most. Many of them will be removed from earth in the largest earth removal since the mid 1930’s. This will end badly for him and all who supports him. The sad result will be the total destruction of our country and if you listened to him. He kept telling you that.

The problem here isn't temporary. Tariffs may or may not be. But when Canada, Mexico, and other countries build alternate trade infrastructure and strike deals that exclude America, this becomes near irreversible and will hurt America's economy well after Trumps term. And that's just trade and economy.\n\nThen there are many relationships worldwide which are already affected, and world leaders are poised to move on without America - leaving it isolated. The US is the most powerful country in the world and can survive alone, but even so, no country flourishes without international partnerships that both parties can rely on. Like Putin, nobody can rely on Trumps word.\n\nHe is destroying everything. And the American public are largely sitting back and watching it. \n\nWake up before it's too late.

Trump is attempting to offset his tax cuts by implementing a tax that isn't called a tax. All of the money from the tariffs goes to the government. Trump has mentioned when tariffs were common as supporting what he is doing, but he doesn't add that at that time, there wasn't an income tax, so tariffs were how the government supported itself. Trump, knowing that tariffs are income for the government, is lying to his base so they will accept the increased prices as a necessary evil to battle the bad countries of Mexico and Canada. It will look like his tax breaks aren't hurting as much as they are and price increases will be the fault of the other countries.\n\nTrump is a conniving grifter with no knowledge of how to run a country's economy or international trade. He is gaslighting the American public to cover his own shortcomings.\n\nAlso, if fentanyl is entering the US, why is it the fault of the other countries? It is the job of the US to stop anything on its side of the border. Canada and Mexico do what they can to catch the drugs while inside their respective countries. The tons of cocaine and guns that enter Canada and Mexico from the US are caught by their border services; they don't blame the US for the products getting past their own border agents, and the US takes no responsibility for it making it across the border. Why is it other countries' fault for drugs getting past the US's border agents, but not the fault of the US that guns and drugs are going in the other direction? That is why countries work together, not fight over whose fault it is and try to punish each other.

Donald is not a smart man of course. But, in terms of approaching a fascist and a criminal, since Canada will be hurt, Trudeau has to be the decent guy he is. Brilliant speech, the best I have heard ever. The guy is poised and knows how to speak. He is smart and compared to him, Trump is incredibly stupid. Bravo. Let me be clear, Trump is a traitor, a bully, a conman, totally lacking in compassion...he is driven by his perverse megalomania and narcissism. He is, in reality a very mentally sick man. And the Republicans are his pathetic cowardly accomplices. Given the continued support, Trump will run American into the gourd, even risk a war to get the attention he needs so badly.

Well, Americans can hear first-hand that Canada has gone above and beyond to maintain a peaceful, productive alliance. This will hurt the working class people in all countries associated, but the working class Americans more than any other group. \n\nThis is a sad day in world history.

As an American the citizens don't really have a choice on what trump decides to do. If you want to match his 25% tariffs I think you should. We qlso don't want to help putin hurt others. We want to work with Canada our allies. I don't personally know anyone that doesn't agree with this but that doesnt meant they do not exost.

The significance that PM Trudeau addressed him as Donald go over so many heads. It is greatly appreciated that the PM also acknowledged that Americans will be hurt by this as well, especially those of us who didn’t vote for Trump.

As an American I am so embarrassed for what President Trump is doing. He is HURTING all our relationships with our allies. I'm beginning to think electing President Trump will be in history as the biggest mistake citizens made.

I don't like Trudeau, but this speech was great. Intelligent when he needed to be, simple when addressing Trump. A strong start to this trade war which as he said, we don't want. I hope along with Ford we hit America where it hurts. Let’s get this clear - This is not about hurting Canada with Tariff. This is all part of Trump’s plan to create panic, confusion and frustration to the American people to make us weak so he can sell us to PUTIN. The tariff to Canada, Mexico and China; his immigration racist decisions to target Latinos; the way he and Vance attacked to president Zaleski and firing federal employes is just ALL Part of a plan to create confusion, so while we scratch our head, he allied with PUTIN.

I am wondering if Fox is gonna show this speech, and how about Newsmax and, the other one that I right now don't remember, I really hope the Americans who voted for trump see how a real leader talks and behaves and I also hope that people realize that this president is hurting every single American Citizen, these tariffs will not help our country it will make it so much harder for every person in The USA to make a decent living. As an American who not unlike more than half of this country believe this president and his administration are going down a very dangerous path. It feels like a runaway train, why can't we stop it, why can't we remove him, the impending damage that is about to take place seems obvious.
