The Americans, the end users/consumers pay the tariffs imposed by Trump. The importer/exporters passes this additional cost/tax to end users/consumers. The government earns this tariffs...as simple as that.
|
| 2025-01-26 | 0 |
Tariffs means that US business will pay an additional cost to import the product which will then be passed on the US consumer through higher prices. So the only ones who will suffer are American consumers.

This is why CNN is failing. Tell it like it is. The title of the video should be Trump hits Americans with additional tarrifs on Columbian imports.

Additionally, if anything is not going their way, they complain about racism and why Canadians don’t understand their culture. Yet, they have no interest in learning about and adapting to Canadian culture. Many brought with them the ways of dealing with people and doing business that are often very shady and Canadians are forced to adapt to them. I support immigration as it adds to the diversity of our culture. However, when 80% of the permanent residence VISA were issued to Indians last year, that’s not diversity. We don’t want to become India 2.0.

Seeing a doctor in the emergency depends on how urgent your situation is. In 2023, I broke my left humerus--the bone in the upper arm. My sister took me to Sacré-Coeur Hospital, which is a teaching hospital. At triage the nurses thought my shoulder was dislocated so they sent me for X-rays even before registration, and at the most, I waited about 20 minutes in the waiting room before I was sent to an examination room. When the emergency specialist came in, I told him about pain between my shoulder blades and a feeling of oppression in my chest. So in addition to dealing with my broken arm, he prescribed blood tests that revealed I had had a small heart attack, and he kept me ovrnight. The next day an angiogram was performed and the cardiologist installed two stents in my heart artery, and I spent two days and two nights in the cardiology unit. I don't dare to imagine how much that would have cost me in your country, but also, many people go to the emergency for things like the flu because they don't have a regular doctor to go to, and of course, for stuff like that you are going to wait a long time. Unless there aren't many patients ahead of you.

One more rant with no objective understanding or study of the core issue. Unfortunately many tourists from India are a disgrace and have very little civic sense. Though VISA applications cannot measure that, they just keep the total numbers low by bringing in additional restrictions.

Good. Less immigration is what all Canadians want. I’m the child of immigrants I believe immigration is a good thing. But not the way it has been completely ruined by this government. Our country is flooded with low skilled immigrants. In addition the mass immigration and rapid demographic change is not incentivizing immigrants to adapt to Canada. ( eg see any corner in any town in Ontario and see how much of the immigrants speak English). If eveything is Canadian then nothing is. I want our culture not to be dissolved into nothingness.

An average Canadian after compulsory deductions and rent ends up with only 10% as disposable income. In the great capitalist nation of USA after compulsory deductions and rent an average American has 30-40 % income. In addition due to the socialism our per capita income is only 72% of the great capitalist nation of USA. This implies that for every disposable dollar an American has we have only 25 cent. Now we are 10% of US population so for every $1 of disposable market they offer us we offer them 2.5c worth of market
\n
\nHow can such one sided unequal deals work? It is obvious one party is looting its own citizens and that is not enuff so it has to loot the American consumer with higher disposable income and also students/immigrants from grower saver, efficient and productive economies. And obviously that party was elected by 2 cities and China. And obviously how long will agenda of loot work specially when 100% of looters suffer TDS

One addition to the reason is also there are a lot of fraud documents and applications from India resulting in more stringent scrutiny.

I was surprised that the video didn't mention the scam involving low-skilled labor from the UAE. Many companies and brokers bring thousands of low-skilled, low-educated workers on short-term visas (as short as three months for two years of employment). These workers often end up being misled and become illegal immigrants because companies prefer to pay the fine, which is cheaper than a two-year visa. Additionally, these companies often retain the passports of the workers, preventing them from returning to their home countries even if they wish to do so. This practice severely impacts the workers and contributes to the bad reputation of the Indian passport, as statistics show an increasing number of Indian passport holders not respecting visa durations.\n\nThe UAE is home to over 3.89 million Indian expats, constituting over 37.96% of the country’s total population. Reports indicate that a significant number of these workers do not respect the time limitations of their visas, further exacerbating the issue.\n\nI do believe, as this is more likely to affect the situation than any conspiracy theories.

It’s becoming increasingly clear that you are just an Indian mouthpiece and not an objective journalist. Investigate why western countries are now having a hard time trusting Indian immigrants. Explore concerns such as the submission of fake school and bank documents, certificates obtained through questionable means, or unethical practices like bribery and cheating, engaging in criminal activities such as transporting drugs. Additionally, examine behaviours that have drawn criticism, including conduct in public spaces like food banks, traffic violations, littering in parks, noise levels, and hygiene practices in communal settings. These observations merely scratch the surface of a complex issue that deserves thoughtful and nuanced analysis. India should teach them proper social etiquette on how to act in other countries. You can't buy civility

There is nothing wrong with rigorous checks. I would want the same for India as well. Vet who gets to enter the country! No one should get a free pass. Ultimately, visitors must benefit the receiving country in some way and not impose additional burden! Would you not want rigorous checks for people entering our country through neighboring territories such as Bangladesh, Nepal, and you-know-who? Thank goodness for border control. It preserves the rule of law throughout the world.

Wait, isn't our ranking higher than Zimbabwe, North Korea, Lebanon, Haiti and all the South Asian countries? Of course we aren't better than Maldives, Ghana, Kenya, Thailand, and all Micronesian countries. But within next 30-50 years, we surely can rank higher than Ghana or Maldives. What we should do is, decrease the quality of education, employ as many unworthy individuals as possible, based on loyalty to political parties and leaders, focus not on skills, but on advertising. In addition, if we can build a society based on bribery, corruption, insecurity, poor hiegine, all over human values, with little or no influence of legal systems, the faster can we soar toward the UAE passport strength.

No need to worry. These issues are transitory and our people need not go to USA. USA companies are planning to move operations to India to hire skilled people. So, jobs comes to our cities. In the long run, it helps us. Our people work in our country and pay taxes to us. Now they are going to USA and paying 35% income tax to USA government. In addition to that, they spend a lot on their monthly expenses. If the Visas are closed and jobs are outsourced to India, it helps our economy a lot. Just be patient

I think the Canadian government has made it far too easy for anyone to immigrate. As an Indian living in India, I can attest that many of us look for the easiest way out and often lack a strong moral compass. Additionally, most of us struggle with adapting to new environments, possibly due to an archaic education system that emphasizes rote learning over conceptual understanding. Many Indians also face challenges with proficiency in the English language.\n\nUnfortunately, Canada’s relatively lenient immigration policies have allowed a significant number of unskilled individuals from India to settle there. Many of these individuals have been reluctant to embrace Canadian culture. Corruption may have played a role as well, with some local Canadian colleges and universities admitting students who lacked merit. Given the extreme levels of corruption in India, this is not surprising.\n\nThe root issue lies in the Canadian government’s lack of strictness and vigilance when formulating immigration rules and policies. Many Indians, frustrated with the current government and financial hardships, seek to leave the country in hopes of a better life in the West. While educated individuals follow proper processes, the uneducated often resort to questionable means. In Canada’s case, this negligence on the part of both governments has had unfortunate consequences.\n\nI hope stricter policies and more accountability lead to better outcomes in the future.

I really enjoyed watching your presentation. As an immigrant myself, I can relate to the challenges many newcomers face. While I sympathize with their situation, I also strongly believe that those coming into the country should be thoroughly vetted. One important point you may have overlooked is the growing lack of confidence in the government's ability to perform effectively. This erosion of trust is leading to a decline in domestic investment, with many of our own citizens seeking opportunities abroad. Additionally, external investment is dropping significantly.

Idk i think you need to realize that we also have our bias in addition to you having yours. Meaning, to most of us , excepting the most left leaning socially progressive pockets and contexts , which even then wouldn’t be viewed that way to us just acceptable lol ?\n\nOur baseline/political middle in Canada is A LOT more left leaning than the baseline normal/political middle in the states. So while people tend to equate your democrats to our liberals or our NDP , and equate your republicans to our conservatives. It’s just not accurate. If you throw our span of parties and American span of parties on the SAME spectrum /polarity line. You might be surprised to realize how shifted left our systems range politically is from the American one. \n\nThis hugely impacts the average normal expectation , what we clutch our pearls at hearing coming out of the mouths of the general public , and our range of what we expect to not hear or see ranted about unless they’re to our view , extremely right leaning politically /social values. \n\nFor us this means that actually genuinely , a lot of America does get experiences by us as bat shit crazy racist homophobic immigrant intolerant culturally and religiously ignorant , and somewhat backwards in larger or smaller amounts ? I know that’s not fun to hear but. Being the most diverse country based so much on immigration means. What is normal and known /familiar and normal so we aren’t ignorant to , is completely different. \n\nFor us we have our pockets usually in more rural less populated areas further away from larger cities where there is more diversity but that’s the same often in many countries that you will find some of the louder racist homophobic intolerant voices typically in places that truly are unfamiliar and ignorant to the experience of growing up with and around much of any diversity of varying kinds. So it’s not to say we don’t have racism and intolerance of course like anywhere we do. It’s just contained and the range and frequency and intensity is MUCH different. We distinguish nuances of diff cultures and religions more easily and in larger numbers we’re more familiar with diff ways of life , language , food, dress , holidays , values and used to a much less segregated way of existing even when we are differnt from each other as the NORM. My parents were both born in the states and my older brother was born there but they moved up here when he was a baby. So nearly all my extended family lives down there and I’m a duelly. And my experiences discussing things with my cousins or visiting absolutely could be described as culture shock at times. The insane things that came out of my own cousins mouths when they hear our friends or partners of various cultures , our not understanding how big a deal and incredibly insulting apparently it is to have assumed someone American was lgbt lol the list goes on. Like I don’t think our most intolerant Pockets can hold a flame to even ur closet to middle a bit intolerant places and contexts in America. Quite honestly. \n\nI think the absolute undying favourable passionate upholding and support of nationalistic, capitalist, hyper individualistic mentality about society as a whole (from my Canadian born and bred perspective lol) makes the differences even more glaring blaring and hard to swallow for us lol. I think more Canadians would feel exactly how that comment stated , that you felt was not fair for us to experience America as. I think the truth is a lot of Canadians are being too polite to let you know that’s exactly how a lot of America comes off to a lot of Canada ?

It’s important to recognize that every country has the right to protect its sovereignty and make decisions in its national interest. Those who voluntarily give up Indian citizenship should also understand that they no longer hold the same privileges as Indian citizens, including easy access to visas. Additionally, if individuals are openly advocating for causes like Khalistan, which challenge India’s unity and integrity, it is reasonable for the Indian government to scrutinize or deny their visa applications. Respect for a nation’s laws and territorial integrity should be a fundamental expectation for anyone seeking entry.

Respectfully your numbers are way too low last year alone we brought in 2.2 million people. \n\nBecause that 500,000 number was only for permanent resident status that's not including the nearly 900,000 international students and additional 800,000 temporary workers and then I think it's another 600,000 asylum seekers AKA illegal aliens\n\nI heard that we are on par for an additional 3 million for the year 2024. If you go to Toronto it's SOOOOO evident! Good video though

Trump must be disqualified; Americans can't be that stupid! Individuals incarcerated with less severe sentences than Trump should be released from prison immediately, as the law should apply equally to everyone without exception. The justice system, including the Supreme Court, is fundamentally flawed, and this is just the beginning. Trump's actions threaten to fragment the USA, much like his questionable dealings; the evidence is clear. He lacks morals, having faced sexual accusations from 26 women, and his connections with Jeffrey Epstein, who preyed on underage girls, raise serious concerns about his actions. Additionally, he has deceived and exploited construction workers with his projects, launched a fake university, and filed for bankruptcy six times. His most notable act is the first insurrection in U.S. history. This con artist holds the worst reputation both nationally and internationally, while the justice system and government have consented to a reckless individual. America has lost credibility both domestically and globally—all of this for one unworthy old man. The government can only blame the electorate for choosing someone who should never have been permitted to run for the presidency!

Ms Mexican-American, if your family members are deported because they came into the country illegally they will never be able to apply for citizenship! I think they would not even be able to apply for at least 10 years... Could change you will be dead before they can even start the process that may take an additional 6 years after waiting at least 10 years to apply which totals almost 20 years.

JVL of the Bulwark pointed out that tariffs are the fastest way for a dictator to take over a nation's entire business community. Trump gets every CEO on bended knee, starting with Bezos. And in addition, tariffs are a huge personal revenue source for Trump, and don't imagine that he won't find a way to lay hold of that stream. Michael Cohen has pointed out how MBS modeled for Trump how to turn a national wealth fund into a personal income account, and tariffs check all the boxes for massive grift.\nFinally, tariffs rationalize the catastrophic tax cuts Trump is financing for himself and his friends, so they look good on paper. They ruin nationa and trade relationships, but hey. It's a win win win for Donald Trump, who won the election.

Tarriff exclusions are a carrot and stick, which will bring businesses and entire industries to heel. Corruption is going to flood the zone, as Trump threatens disaster after disaster, and makes everyone bend kneees and open wallets to get out of it. Bezos' WaPo policy is a canary in the coal mine. DOGE will also be used in this fashion - in addition to being the world's biggest crypto scam: nothing will shoot crypto prices up like cutting tens of thousands of civil service jobs and replacing them with blockchain + AI, forcing mass adoption. If that sounds like conspiracy theory, this is Musk we are talking about - blockchain and AI are two of his favorite techs. The non-agency is named after a crypto that was nearly worthless - until Elon hyped it in 2020, manipulated the market, and is now worth 54 billion while having no inherent value. Much of that came as Trump endorsed crypto and Musk endorsed Trump. If you don't want your Federal funding cut, talk to one of Elon or Vivek's shell companies. If you want a tarriff exclusion. If you don't want your workers' families deported . . . the list goes on and on.

Don't ever forget. When illegal Border crossings and the smuggling of fentanyl into the US was at it's peak, the Republican Party rejected legislation (once again) that would have added thousands of additional border agents, hundreds of asylum judges, high-tech equipment to detect fentanyl, and even billions more for added replacement border fencing (it ain't a wall). Don't forget who perpetuated illegal immigration for 3-4 decades now for political reasons: The Republican Party.

An American worker earns more than 200% compared to a Mexican worker, in addition to all the regulations and taxes. A 25% increase in tariffs will affect us, but it won't relocate jobs or move production from Mexico to the United States; in fact, it is inflationary for Americans.
|
| 2024-11-26 | 0 |
Ok for those who don’t understand how tariffs work thats tax for American companies to import goods here ok and the other countries sale their products at the whatever cost they set, once Americans pay the tax tariffs then Americans companies increase their cost to recover ad make up their loss costing Americans higher prices. And for the idiots that think manufacturing companies would come back, they will not bc other countries good are going to still be cheaper and would not like to pay additional taxes or have their business growth collapse

As an American, I can tell you the primary factor for many has been the cost of caring for the illegal aliens. A large number are receiving social services benefits greater than Americans in need, which has led to resentment.\n\nIn addition, some have argued (often disingenuously) that deporting illegals will help relieve our affordable housing crisis.\n\nAs the son of a (Finnish) immigrant, I'm 100% for legal immigration. However, one has to question the wisdom of accepting those whose first act on American soil is to commit a felony.

I find it remarkable that the pew is saying there is a total sum of 11 million when we know by 2023 that 12 million illegals under Biden alone has come. if that doesn't prove that graph or pew are lying stats I don't know what is. I remember I'm in my 30s I rememebr there being like a million illegal immigrants come in each year since 2000 sometimes you would have more. Now unless they somehow decided to magically leave or you magically amnestied an additional 30 million people on top of the 12 that just came in 3 years prior not counting this year. Then the graph is asinine modern stats are crap.

There are at least 18 different ways to immigrate to the USA, and not all of them require applying before you get here, nor standing in line. In addition, depending on when she applied, the laws very very different. Ignorance is strong with these people.

Deporting undocumented immigrants could have significant economic consequences. Removing this labor force, which makes up the majority of farmworkers, would likely force farmers to hire American citizens at minimum wage or higher. This would drive up operating costs substantially and could lead to further increases in food prices. Additionally, the claim that undocumented immigrants are to blame for the country's economic woes is inaccurate. Many of the recent Latin American immigrants are fleeing economic collapse in countries like Venezuela, which has been exacerbated by U.S. tariffs and sanctions. As the world's reserve currency, the U.S. dollar gives the government significant power to influence the economies of other nations. Because of this BRICS was created. Several countries are trying to get a way from the dollar.

‼️Take back Canada‼️Did you hear Hong Kong pathway policy? \nWe are local citizens. We are not satisfied with the hk pathway policy, why can they enjoy the same benefits as our locals ? \nIn the past, people who applied to become a PR had to wait at least two or three years. During this period, they had to pay international student fees and then transfer to a work permit step by step, or join the investing immigration program, and then start to enjoy the benefits after becoming a PR. However, as soon as the hk pathyway people landed, they enjoyed the same benefits immediately as the locals(liked free education, local student fee for university, Child care benefits) which the locals felt were unfair. The days they (hk pathway people)contributed in Canada are very short, and the benefits they receive are far greater than the taxes and contributions they pay. The locals just feel that the benefits they enjoy today are indeed the contributions they have made to society (including paying taxes) over the years. It is reasonable to get a reward for how much they have paid and contributed, but it is unfair for those Hk pathway people to enjoy the same benefits as locals. \n\nThe hk pathway temporarily policy need to be amended. They shouldn’t receiving full benefits as locals while waiting for PR, they should pay the international student fees. Also, too many hk people abuse this policy, use fake academic qualifications to study, and then their whole family receives CCB , also enjoy local students is unfair to our locals. By the way, most of them after getting the PR they will go back to Hong Kong, they have no intention of staying here and make contributions to our country.\n\nThe HK pathway is a temporary policy. The immigration policy can be revised at any time just liked study permit has mandatory amendments and additional condition recently . The Hk pathway can also be amended.

So much for crowd sizes, Hannibal Lecter, sharks, flushing toilets....the G.O.P. didn't demonize early mail-in voting or machines. Mike Lindell was nowhere on the radar. Trump was wise to avoid any additional debates. The citizens spoke, all three branches (executive, legislative Senate and 'projected' House, and judicial) will be under the control of the Right. Let's see what happens next....

First Trump's administration is going to be jacked up with little known outliers with controversial and radical ideas. That is what Trump is attracted to. His ideas of tariffs and mass deportations are deplorable. They both disadvantage the US instead making it better. However, the tariffs may as well be a scam to get companies profits as when Trump says 10% on item A, companies are going to raise the cost of item A 12 to 15% or so and blame the cost increase on tariffs. For deportation's, I hope most people realize that many working the fields as low wage labor are very well illegals, but they are hired because they keep food costs low. Raising all prices for the poor Republicans will not be beneficial because prices on goods can increase 15% or more but their employer is certainly not going give them a 15% raise to match the cost of living. So Trump has already made the business environment good for more profits by planning to make life more expensive for everyone so business can absorb the additional profits. Probusiness politicians help businesses make money and that money comes from households and the government. And making the government spend more means the government needs to tax more. But TRump is cutting taxes for the people that have the most money. And Trump raising prices with tariffs justs makes households poorer and business richer. Naturally, the stock market will record highs when all the indicators are that business will be making much greater profits from households when Trump takes office.

After deporting the criminals, why not offer those, especially in the workforce, work permits that can some how over time lead to proper citizenship and also maybe some kind of penalty fee for entering illegally. We need the workforce and additional tax base instead of some giant expense of a physical wall. Instead of spending on a physical wall, spend on more people to officially deal with the entering of migrants to reduce the illegal entries and potential criminals.

There are currently 18 foreign-born voting members of Congress, including 17 in the House of Representatives and one in the Senate – Democrat Mazie Hirono of Hawaii, who was born in Japan. Together, they represent 3% of all voting members across both legislative chambers. At least 63 additional lawmakers – 47 representatives and 16 senators – have one or more immigrant parent. Overall, these children of immigrants make up 12% of the House and Senate.

(IDEA) Set a deadline for all illegals that are here in the states to go to the immigration offices and declare they are here illegally on their own account. \n\nCreate a lottery system (select a small percentage to win the chance of the American dream!!! Allow them to stay here with “temporary” citizenship for complying and given initial housing and job. During this time, they must not commit a crime and they must hold a job of some sort to prove they are a positive addition to our society. The rest understand America is a land of law and must be entered the right way and will be deported with clear understanding of how to apply correctly with the hopes of a future return.\n\n****Those who don’t comply will be automatically deported once caught and a temporary ban on re-entry for evading.

Like most of the media networks CNN has bitched and moaned, but never offerred any constructive criticism or plan for dealing with the problem.\nAll countries have border security and immigration laws.\nOur immigration laws ( responsibility of Congress) seem reasonable to me. I do think we need a better plan for dreamers.\nBorder security tho is a primary responsibility of the President. He is supposed to enforce our laws whether he likes them or not.\nThanks to Joe we have an additional 12 milliin more people here. One they criss iur border illegally, they are , by definition, criminals.\nBut they still need shelter , food, and medical care which we are paying for.\nWhat does CNN think should happen? Are you all inviting someone home with you ?

7:15 ?? This is exactly the reason Immigration has to stop!!! We Canadians have paid into the system our entire lifes! These immigrants come here and have exactly this mentality!!! (We've come here and put 3 or 4 years into the system). Your entitlement is absolutely sickening!!! You want country that resembles yours? Get back on the plane! Stop complaining about our traditions! Stop rioting about problem's happening in your country in our country! Our country was a much better place before this immigration mess took place. I'm not racist by any means. There's people that come with a suitcase and thrive and work there balls off to make something of themselves and rely on themselves and embrace this country and are so appreciative for the opportunity our country has given them as a second chance, and are amazing additions to our country!. Then there's this.....

Great coverage on the reasons some skilled immigrants are leaving Germany. It's crucial to highlight that while Germany is known for its strong economy and high quality of life, some immigrants face challenges like bureaucratic hurdles, high living costs, and cultural integration issues.\n\nMany skilled workers seek better opportunities in countries with more favorable immigration policies, higher salaries, or a more welcoming environment. Additionally, the work-life balance and job satisfaction play significant roles in their decisions.\n\nFor Germans, understanding these dynamics is essential for fostering a more inclusive society that retains talent. Emphasizing the importance of integration programs, supporting diverse communities, and addressing workplace culture can make a significant difference.\n\nGlobally, other countries are competing for skilled talent, often offering more attractive conditions. It's a reminder that to remain a top destination for skilled immigrants, Germany must continuously evolve its policies and approach to make all newcomers feel valued and supported. This will benefit not only the immigrants but also the German economy in the long run.
