The Americans, the end users/consumers pay the tariffs imposed by Trump. The importer/exporters passes this additional cost/tax to end users/consumers. The government earns this tariffs...as simple as that.

Tariffs means that US business will pay an additional cost to import the product which will then be passed on the US consumer through higher prices. So the only ones who will suffer are American consumers.

This is why CNN is failing. Tell it like it is. The title of the video should be Trump hits Americans with additional tarrifs on Columbian imports.

Additionally, if anything is not going their way, they complain about racism and why Canadians don’t understand their culture. Yet, they have no interest in learning about and adapting to Canadian culture. Many brought with them the ways of dealing with people and doing business that are often very shady and Canadians are forced to adapt to them. I support immigration as it adds to the diversity of our culture. However, when 80% of the permanent residence VISA were issued to Indians last year, that’s not diversity. We don’t want to become India 2.0.

Seeing a doctor in the emergency depends on how urgent your situation is. In 2023, I broke my left humerus--the bone in the upper arm. My sister took me to Sacré-Coeur Hospital, which is a teaching hospital. At triage the nurses thought my shoulder was dislocated so they sent me for X-rays even before registration, and at the most, I waited about 20 minutes in the waiting room before I was sent to an examination room. When the emergency specialist came in, I told him about pain between my shoulder blades and a feeling of oppression in my chest. So in addition to dealing with my broken arm, he prescribed blood tests that revealed I had had a small heart attack, and he kept me ovrnight. The next day an angiogram was performed and the cardiologist installed two stents in my heart artery, and I spent two days and two nights in the cardiology unit. I don't dare to imagine how much that would have cost me in your country, but also, many people go to the emergency for things like the flu because they don't have a regular doctor to go to, and of course, for stuff like that you are going to wait a long time. Unless there aren't many patients ahead of you.

One more rant with no objective understanding or study of the core issue. Unfortunately many tourists from India are a disgrace and have very little civic sense. Though VISA applications cannot measure that, they just keep the total numbers low by bringing in additional restrictions.

Good. Less immigration is what all Canadians want. I’m the child of immigrants I believe immigration is a good thing. But not the way it has been completely ruined by this government. An average Canadian after compulsory deductions and rent ends up with only 10% as disposable income. In the great capitalist nation of USA after compulsory deductions and rent an average American has 30-40 % income. In addition due to the socialism our per capita income is only 72% of the great capitalist nation of USA. This implies that for every disposable dollar an American has we have only 25 cent. It’s becoming increasingly clear that you are just an Indian mouthpiece and not an objective journalist. Investigate why western countries are now having a hard time trusting Indian immigrants. Explore concerns such as the submission of fake school and bank documents, certificates obtained through questionable means, or unethical practices like bribery and cheating, engaging in criminal activities such as transporting drugs. Additionally, examine behaviours that have drawn criticism, including conduct in public spaces like food banks, traffic violations, littering in parks, noise levels, and hygiene practices in communal settings. These observations merely scratch the surface of a complex issue that deserves thoughtful and nuanced analysis. India should teach them proper social etiquette on how to act in other countries. There is nothing wrong with rigorous checks. I would want the same for India as well. Vet who gets to enter the country! No one should get a free pass. Ultimately, visitors must benefit the receiving country in some way and not impose additional burden! Would you not want rigorous checks for people entering our country through neighboring territories such as Bangladesh, Nepal, and you-know-who? Thank goodness for border control. It preserves the rule of law throughout the world.

Wait, isn't our ranking higher than Zimbabwe, North Korea, Lebanon, Haiti and all the South Asian countries? Of course we aren't better than Maldives, Ghana, Kenya, Thailand, and all Micronesian countries. But within next 30-50 years, we surely can rank higher than Ghana or Maldives. What we should do is, decrease the quality of education, employ as many unworthy individuals as possible, based on loyalty to political parties and leaders, focus not on skills, but on advertising. In addition, if we can build a society based on bribery, corruption, insecurity, poor hiegine, all over human values, with little or no influence of legal systems, the faster can we soar toward the UAE passport strength.

No need to worry. These issues are transitory and our people need not go to USA. USA companies are planning to move operations to India to hire skilled people. So, jobs comes to our cities. In the long run, it helps us. Our people work in our country and pay taxes to us. Now they are going to USA and paying 35% income tax to USA government. In addition to that, they spend a lot on their monthly expenses. If the Visas are closed and jobs are outsourced to India, it helps our economy a lot. Just be patient

I think the Canadian government has made it far too easy for anyone to immigrate. As an Indian living in India, I can attest that many of us look for the easiest way out and often lack a strong moral compass. I really enjoyed watching your presentation. As an immigrant myself, I can relate to the challenges many newcomers face. While I sympathize with their situation, I also strongly believe that those coming into the country should be thoroughly vetted. One important point you may have overlooked is the growing lack of confidence in the government's ability to perform effectively. This erosion of trust is leading to a decline in domestic investment, with many of our own citizens seeking opportunities abroad. Additionally, external investment is dropping significantly.

My parents were both born in the states and my older brother was born there but they moved up here when he was a baby. So nearly all my extended family lives down there and I’m a duelly. And my experiences discussing things with my cousins or visiting absolutely could be described as culture shock at times. The insane things that came out of my own cousins mouths when they hear our friends or partners of various cultures , our not understanding how big a deal and incredibly insulting apparently it is to have assumed someone American was lgbt lol the list goes on. As an American, I can tell you the primary factor for many has been the cost of caring for the illegal aliens. The days they (hk pathway people)contributed in Canada are very short, and the benefits they receive are far greater than the taxes and contributions they pay. The locals just feel that the benefits they enjoy today are indeed the contributions they have made to society (including paying taxes) over the years. It is reasonable to get a reward for how much they have paid and contributed, but it is unfair for those Hk pathway people to enjoy the same benefits as locals. \n\nThe hk pathway temporarily policy need to be amended. First Trump's administration is going to be jacked up with little known outliers with controversial and radical ideas. That is what Trump is attracted to. However, the tariffs may as well be a scam to get companies profits as when Trump says 10% on item A, companies are going to raise the cost of item A 12 to 15% or so and blame the cost increase on tariffs. For deportation's, I hope most people realize that many working the fields as low wage labor are very well illegals, but they are hired because they keep food costs low. Raising all prices for the poor Republicans will not be beneficial because prices on goods can increase 15% or more but their employer is certainly not going give them a 15% raise to match the cost of living. So Trump has already made the business environment good for more profits by planning to make life more expensive for everyone so business can absorb the additional profits. Probusiness politicians help businesses make money and that money comes from households and the government. And making the government spend more means the government needs to tax more. But TRump is cutting taxes for the people that have the most money. And Trump raising prices with tariffs justs makes households poorer and business richer. Naturally, the stock market will record highs when all the indicators are that business will be making much greater profits from households when Trump takes office.

After deporting the criminals, why not offer those, especially in the workforce, work permits that can some how over time lead to proper citizenship and also maybe some kind of penalty fee for entering illegally. We need the workforce and additional tax base instead of some giant expense of a physical wall. Instead of spending on a physical wall, spend on more people to officially deal with the entering of migrants to reduce the illegal entries and potential criminals.

If deporting illegals is a Republican goal, Mr. Banks, why didn't Congressional Republicans approve the additional spending Biden requested to do exactly that?
