As someone from the Netherlands, I wish our former prime minister and current NATO leader Rutte responded in a similar way to Trudeau. He was always a true politicians' politician, but the way he stood with the US right after the horrible treatment of Zelensky was a new low. If the majority of US allies responded in a firm manner the way Trudeau just did, it might be enough to scare some Republicans into doing the right thing.

Yay Canada! That’s the right response. I just wish Trudeau could say Trump and his dictator ship administration and not the Americans because half of us here hate that man and completely disagree with his policies.

I love Canada. Canada will always be our ally, but there appears to be some “one sided-ness”. I believe the biggest issue being drugs coming across our border. \nAs someone who lives on the border, we see many Canadian cars coming to the US to shop. They even wear clothes that they throw away in dumpsters so they can wear their new clothes back to Canada without having to pay tax. \nI wish they wld accommodate to our requests.\n\nP.S. I’m just so sad and that the current american administration is trying so hard to make us hate each other! \n\nWhen things get bad, in a couple of weeks or months for both of us. Trump and his media Will absolutely blame Canada, not just for trying to defend itself, but for all of it. He Will try to make americans hate us so much so he can get something out of it and thats so wrong.\n\nI have so many memories of traveling to the US and meeting great people there. This speech is unbelievable impressive!!!! I am among those who started pushing back before trump took office, many are. We’re watching legislation and countering it. It won’t be easy, but we, the other half who understand that trump is crooked and dysfunctional, will not give up. Generally, Americans are not great when it comes to hitting the pavement and letting our voices be heard, but we’re getting much better. We need to be more like France, but without the destructive automobile fires and other property destruction. Life will be hell here, in my own democratic country, until the Bully is gone. I want the entire republican party gone, they only serve themselves via stock insider information, and messed up wishes to control a dystopian society while kowtowing to the billionaires. I want the democrats rebranded to acknowledge the important social programs we have. Let’s face it, they did not protect us from this trump/project 2025 takeover. Instead they allowed unchecked lies, and the ability to buy his way into office with so many felonies under his huge belt. In a country that is intellectually compromised, lies are very effective weapons against democracy. We need better hate laws to control this lying issue.

I think it is important to note how much governments complain when they get taxed but how much they also complain they aren't taxing their people even more. Imagine if the people got this upset Everytime they were taxed. And if he wants to fight russia in wwiii he is welcome to go to russia and get it started rather than negotiate peace. I think this “in your face” publicly addressing Donald looks good. Canada should fast track citizenship for US Citizens wishing to immigrate: prioritize and target talented and skilled US citizens and make it a very public announcement, like this.

I'm American, I'm cheering for Canada. Our government has broken its word to yours. I do not believe that Trump's actions represent the wishes of most Americans but many of them DID vote for him (and the utterly spineless Congressional Republicanswho enable him) and all of us are going to pay the price, quite literally.
