So long as there is predatory population around. These folks want to benefit of migrants and their labour but then get offended by their presence. I have heard of gulf Arab racism and maybe that's the track these countries are willing to adopt. Who knows but the future appears to be grim unless a way forward of co existing is carved out.

I'm all for referenda, the trouble is when government picks the issue, they are usually doing so for political reasons, not legislative ones. Harper pulled the same thing when he took a first nations treaty agreement that had been twenty years in the making between THREE levels of government and threw it to a referendum of a population that had NO idea what it was about, so they just reacted along racist lines thinking 'first nations are taking over'. But in any case, a referenda is better than not, sure as hell wish we had Citizens Initiatives in my province to stop some of the horrible public policy decisions.

Poor countries are unfree and have higher malnutrition. That causes lower IQs. It’s why North Korea has lower IQs than South Korea. IQs are not fixed in stone. North Korean IQs improve when they escape to South Korea. And Canada’s immigration program is selective. Funny how racists like to pretend that immigration isn’t selective. It’s to prevent immigrants from being on welfare more than the citizen population, which is how it should be. Higher-skilled workers are mostly chosen to immigrate. They make good money through their skills, and are giving back to the country through paying taxes. This includes Africans, especially Christian ones. In the 80s when I was in university, sociology professors claimed that the immigration system was racist, because certain people weren't welcome. (Yah, the people who wouldn't fit in because their values and customs were so different) They said Canada only accepts people who benefit the country! Imagine that!
