I’m a Canadian citizen. I married a Jewish African woman. And helped her get her citizenship after we got married here in Canada. Then we stood outside in the -20 degrees c freezing cold in a long lineup of good people trying to get their citizenships like my wife, all legally obeying the laws of Canada. And according to the rules and standards that have to be met to obtain a student visa, none of them should be eligible for asylum. This is a way they are deliberately cheating the system. It is not right or fair. All of their claims should be automatically rejected, and they should have their student visas revoked. If we had a government that cared about Canadians and the rule of law, this would not be happening. But as it stands, we have a corrupt government and bureaucracy that only cares about lining their own pockets and staying in power. The people who are approving this and not rejecting them outright should be held criminally accountable and should lose their jobs. Not so acurate information. During the college time students can work only 20h/week. Unless it has changed. \n\nAlso, it’s IMPOSSIBLE to get permanent residency before graduation because you need Canadian experience (full time) for at least 1 year in specialized areas. \n\nOnly if you successfully complete your program you get the full time work visa per 3y. In this time it’s going to be possible TO APPLY for permanent residence. \n\nBut not only that. Canadian experience give you extra points in the immigration program, but also a Bachelor’s degree, or a master degree, work experience in your back country, English level, and age. \n\nI don’t know for certain countries if the rules are different, but as long as I know, it’s the same for everybody. \n\nWhen I came as an international student, I had to prove the college was paid, also show I had enough money to support myself for 1y without work. Also, the program at college that costs $4000/semester for a Canadian student, it costs $8-10.000 for an international student. \n\nMy work visa (during college) allowed me 20h per week working only. \n\nTo get my study visa approved I had to show intermediate English, money, work experience, Bachelor’s degree (I have also a master’s), and explain why I wanted to study in Canada and why that program was related to my current career. \n\nTalking about jobs; I have worked as a housekeeper in a hospital (on weekends). It is not right to put good and bad apples in one basket, the bad stands out here more than the good.\nI came from an area of very few Indians and been living in an area of high immigration for many years, so I came from a place of no prejudices. Not separate yourselves, segregating others based on predjudices, and sticking to what you are familiar with back home. You came for a better life, but live the same as the past. It is like a marriage where one has to always take into account your partner's point of view, making compromises along the way for both partners, not exploiting the other's weakness, or disrespecting their views.\nThe government caused this issue to come more to the forefront in recent years by ramping up immigration numbers and putting pressure on the system. Canadians have now had enough. There is no easy answer here.

Where is the protection for the employers who are working round the clock to bring the caregivers but the caregivers are abusing the systems and goodwills of the employers. The caregiver program should be like it was before when the caregivers needed to work here for 10 years to get the permanent residency. Otherwise it is becoming difficult for the employers to retain the newly hired caregivers under the new program as the caregivers are getting PR as soon as they lands. Employers need protection. Employers brings caregivers from foreign lands and as soon as they arrive the caregivers can quit and change employer and start exercising their rights as PR - it has to stop to protect the employer because of the employers hard earned money and goodwill they can land here, employers should not suffer for their goodwill and needs.\nWe Canadian employers need workers not the abusers. I feel like I am living in India with all the immigrants that have suddenly moved here... here in Guelph Ontario, they built a massive Indian temple a few years ago and now the place is being flooded with people from India, (every house that is put up for sale, is bought immediately by an Indian family... that means the husband, his wife, their children, the brother in law, his wife, their mother and their father. They are all cramped into a 3 bedroom house and 3 cars parked in a 1 car driveway... that for some strange reason, they immediately remove the black asphalt driveway and replace it with white concrete??)

Meh in a few years it probably won't even be called Canada anymore. Definitely won't be long before Shari Law is put in so that will be interesting.

It really is a shame and it goes both ways .. Because of shady landlords laws had to be put in place now and unfortunately it works against some landlords that are legit .. The system is fuked and chalk it up to another reason a Liberal government doesn't work with True-Dope at the helm ?

Who would be against immigrants who obeyed immigration laws, followed every legal steps and waited patiently, then worked hard and honestly after they came, and became a decent and respectful citizen? No one.\n\nWho should be against immigrants who abused the system, jumped the line and got into the country or stayed in the country, by filing fraudulent claims or simply went underground, then worked illegally, or simply undermined workers' rights by accepting less than minimum wages, or jobs which totally disregard regulations required by law? Everyone.\n\nAlso every country should put their own people first, which include legal immigrants who are already there, and secure their livelihood before taking in more immigrants.

Put all of those sobs in jail if they don't respect our laws they don't respect us????

As an American I watched because I wanted a realistic perspective of the issues with immigration from a place that typically loves immigration. I completely agree with the Daniel Bernhard that the real issue (including the US) is the laws and policies put in place that don't allow for what should be a natural growth of the population. Questions should be asked like Why do we not have enough housing, jobs, healthcare, etc. The cost of everything going up is not singularly the fault of immigrants, and stopping immigration will NOT solve those problems.

For me. If you are going to be a landlord. The unit you have must be already paid, if its mortgage dont be a landlord. Because if its already fully paid, whatever happens at the end of the day its still your unit, and the landlord can still sell it the future for the higher price. I am still in favor of the law for the tenant, because this landlords, they tend to put higher price whenever they want, specially those under the table, what ever the trend they can increase the price, or depends on their mortgage interest. It happens to us before, our rent is 800, then next year they are asking for 1,100. So we just moved out, then they rent the place for 1200 for the next renter, now we rent in a legit apartment who follows the percentage each year of rent increase, so we pay on time.
