Brampton, hongcouver, surrey etc shows how immigrants create a parallel society that does not benefit the country. With such overwhelming competition for jobs is it any wonder Canadians are falling behind? Immigration and leftist govt policies is driving wages down while rents and housing prices keep going up along with crime, hospital wait times etc

I started a search on the news on 'rooming house mississauga' and notice there's barely anything after 2022... I wonder what's changed?\nIt looks like Toronto is acting more recently to take action.

The average of 350K born a year in canada and 330K death, but somehow Canadas population has gone from 35 million in 2015 to 40 million in 2024. And people wonder why there is a housing crisis.

As a Canadian we shouldn’t be inviting more people into our country until we can level out the housing prices and the cost of food and if you invite more people in then houses being built I wonder why people are leaving

in my opinion - its the governments cold hard financial planers who decided they need new young workers to pay taxes and social security to support all the older generations retiring , so they import foreigners , now 23% of Canadian were not born there , or 30% of Australians were not born there --- but the actual people who live there look around and wonder why 30% of the country doesn't speak the same language and has extremely different culture values and feel displaced from there own homes , also foreigners tend to work cheaper and take housing supply -- lowering wages and driving up housing costs further angering locals

I wonder how it will end. There are absolutes like Canada will never build enough housing and salaries will lag asset inflation. The WEF are in favor of rentier capitalism.\n\nThere are those who have a house/houses and those without.

I think everyone is missing the point here. I Don’t support Israel’s retaliation, but I wondered why the Arab world has not taken in a single refugee. Poland didn’t condone Russia’s attack by taking in hundreds of thousands Ukrainian refugees. If Egypt, jordan, Quatar, to name the immediate Arab Neighbors would rally together to get the women and children out of harms way, surely the outcome would be better for these poor people. \n\nSadly this is not the case and it appears as though this conflict will never find a solution, as long as both parties are not able to set aside their millennia aged quarrel, acknowledge each other’s deep roots and belonging to the same land, and accept that they both come from the exact same bloodline. The exact same seed of a man named Abraham. Both parties need not to like or even tolerate each other, but they both need to respect each other’s right to co exist within that space. I’ve heard some disgusting vitriol from both sides, honestly. Both sides have and are behaving like animals. Infact animals are more civil, as their disputes are settled in a more humane manner, without the casualties within their communities. Yet, despite being created in God’s image with the ability of sophisticated communication, both sides are unable to get past their own hurt pride, at least for the sake of the innocent lives that have and continue to be lost on BOTH sides, to finally squash this matter once and for all.\n\nGrowing up I had a cousin . We both were the only Sons of our respective immediate families’, born to identical twin sisters, 3 months apart. From\nA young age everything was competition between us. Who ran faster, jumped higher, threw further. Every thing we did, and we spent a lot of time around each other, was constantly turned into a “who does it better”. This resulted in us usually throwing down as one of us, feeling like we may be on the losing end of any given task, would just get frustrated, and start soccer punching the other. And my cousin and I from the time were off the diary to the day we both matured, would THROW down. We would literally just start throwing punches at each other, it was honestly impressive how we both would manage to land equal amount of hits to look like literal bloody hell, and guess what, even those fights became competition as even our dads would throw money with the others pitching for their favourite. Fortunately, our moms, the only adults in the our community, looking back, people would just pick a side and watch as go at each other, than pull us off each other, would come stomping out of the house grab each one of us by our ears, gives us a good smack in the back our heads and sit us down, look each one of us straight in the eye, and say something like, “cut it out, you two are family, more brothers than cousins” they would demand that we both go hug it out, have a bath, if we managed to do that peacefully then we were allowed to partake in dessert that evening or allowed to stay up a little later watching tv, or whatever . My point with this overtly personal analogy is that both the Palestinian and the Israeli sides should be dragged off each there by their figurative ears pulled, sat down, scolded and reminded of their ancestrial ties to each other and to the very same land. \n\nBe honest with yourselves, some how amongst all this hate, vitriol, unnecessary death of innocent lives, are you, and those you rally with be truly ok with your opposing side coexisting harmoniously beside each other? If the answer to this question is no, the other side can not have any claim to this land and needs to be removed to god knows where, if not off the earth all together then it’s your people, not mine, that are doomed. We’ll still be chilling in North America, horrified at the unfolding events but chilling nonetheless. Although it somehow claims to not be doing so, the actions of Israel demonstrate a gruelling callousness towards Palestinian life or right to life, and the staunch calls of the constant pro Palestine protests, calling for the eradication of Israel, none absent of a deep, hate and disgust towards the Jewish people. Both are in need of serious internal reform. Honestly as a complete outsider, SHAME ON BOTH OF YOU. I don’t care who started it, or who said or did what, at this point it is imperil that this end immediately. And as an outsider, I think it’s is important that pressure be applied to both sides to put their weapons down. I don’t recall the last time anyone even mention the Israeli hostages, putting any pressure on Hamas to do the one thing that would definitely appease the Israelis. In the same breathe, Israel needs to be further pressured to stop being so trigger happy and lay off of it. \n\nI can only hope, I guess. In the meantime i should really refrain from ranting on YouTube.

That man was 100% right on the money with everything he said. I've got nothing against anyone wanting a better life. However, it shouldn't be at the expense of the of our own Canadian citizens. We're taxed through the roof & that $$ should be going to us 1st.\n\n We shouldn't have homeless & hungry Canadians on the street while the immigrants reap all the benefits of the services we've paid into. The immigrants wonder why we've become so hostile & restful towards them. It's because they're literally taking the food & housing right from under us.

Net-overseas migration of 650,000 in 2022-2024 to Australia. That would be the sixth largest city if they all lived together. lol.\nRents increased 9.1% for houses and 13.1% for units in between December 2022 - 2023. And houses are expensive? \nPepole wonder why.

Justin Trudeau & Joe Biden don't seem to have any housing shortages in their lives, and I wonder why?
|
| 2024-03-07 | 0 |
Labour shortage? ? we have enough homeless people without jobs already. Canadians do not want to be exploited with cheap labour thats the problem. Pay canadians according to our economy and there will not be so many homeless people and more of these jobs will be filled. The government makes it an excuse to keep bombarding canada with more migrants as to keep the employers from having to pay more and keep labour as low as possible. Of course a new immigrant is going to do whatever job they can get, because they do not know the Canadian economy. You see houses with 15 people in a 3 bedroom apartment, 25 people in a house. I always wondered why certain houses had 6+ cars and I kept seeing multiple faces.

I would like to congratulate all of you who voted ndp and liberal. Look at how your brilliant voting has made canada such a wonderful 3rd world nation. I laugh when politicians say canada is a rich country...no...it WAS WAS a rich country. Now, because of brainless lemming liberals we are in the poor house.

Harrison, you've laid it all out here in plain English. Even the immigrants are mumbling and stumbling over each other these days. Many younger (under 50) Canadians among us have been indoctrinated by our education system with it's left leaning doctrine, to believe this massive influx of immigrants is good and as it should be in Canada. Naturally they have no model to compare with other than stories from their elders as to how things used to be. So they have blindly accepted the status quo without question. \nOf course, many(most)politicians, teachers, professors, reporters etc. being members of this same under 50 age group have reinforced this lie. As you've clearly pointed out, at the end of the day are those that profit from such a policy, like employers large and small, landlords and of course politicians who reap the favors of those in the winners circle. And the losers, all those in the under 50 age groups who scratch their head and wonder why they have no job, no medical care, no house and no future. Good post!

Think about it - the hefty tax rates are essentially robbery. When you have the option of driving two hours and cross the border to work under a TN, why on earth would someone stay? The tax code here is so dumb. It does not foster a healthy market; it is a means for locals to rip off those with assets. But guess what? the smart, the intelligent and the rich will flee, leaving the mediocre, the lazy, the weak and the elderly on this soil. No wonder they whine about the housing prices all day long. Did it ever come to their attention that the housing price of Toronto is 1/3 or less than that of manhattan, SF, Beijing Hong Kong etc. it is a nation slaved by poverty thinking. Does it make any sense to limit foreigners buying homes in Toronto? This is foreign direct investment that benefits your damn economy, but you cant stand the whining of those who cant afford a home and banned it. of course you are gonna lose the capital. You raise tax again, squeezing more hard-working smart folks away. What a pity! Yes it is harsh. But this is what you get when you forget everything in economics and zero in on equality.

If Canada had a real labour shortage the wages would be very high to attract people yet there are few if any jobs and they pay minimum wage or slightly more.Another byproduct of a woke system is the incentive to work has been taken away.In the past men strived to make top dollar but since western women are undesirable there's no marriage or kids and no one can afford a house so men do the bare minimum or don't work at all.A man doesn't need to work 60 hours a week making 200k a year if he's alone so no need for that high stress job which means no need to go to college or university to get that job.Society puts down men and women claim they don't need men then everybody wonders why men don't join the military anymore this all starting to make sense now?

JT distroyed Canada by importing 6 million immigrants and or migrants or intl students and their spouses, parents and siblings in 8 years. No wonder no place to live and high rents high house prices plus inflation in all sectors.

How weird, it's like you're talking about Argentina! We also have a housing crisis, monopolies and oligopolies, very high prices and lousy public services. I wonder if all of that is part of a global depopulation plan.

We have been building more houses right arcoss Canada. The major problem is our high cost of housing ,cost of living ,taxes and those fn idiots (liberal government) that steal from the poor and middle class and give to the rich (Trudeau, Freeland , Wef , Zelenski, Netanyahu and the WHO). No wonder this country is fucking broke.

If the Hindus don't like it, they can study in Mumbai. The students don't need a place to live, they just need NOT go to Canada. However, Canada should be building more houses. THE HINDU NATIONALIST TALK AND TALK ABOUT HOW WONDERFUL IS INDIA BUT AT THE FIRST CHANCE THEY COME TO THE WEST. SORRY, but if Canada is too cold, not enough spicy or smelly for you. Then stay at home in Bangalore.

Where is the high rent goes to ? It goes to Canadians with houses and got richer. This is a wonderful country, what are you talking about ?

The problem is immigration policy and housing policy were treated as separate. Yes, I know, how is this possible? Easy, incompetence. This problem was allowed to boil and that the kettle blew up the geniuses are scratching their ass wondering what went wrong. The government's answer, move the Minister of Immigration and make him Minister of Housing. This is akin to inviting the arsonist who was responsible for the fire to put it out. By the way, listening to this pompous windbag is worth the amusement. In one interview he stated the obvious, how immigration was a problem for housing, something that escaped powers of observation when he was Minister of Immigration.

Canada is a vast country, but its population is based in a handful of metro regions. All the immigrants and students are coming to these highly populated areas where there is a lack of housing and jobs. Everything is a lot more expensive these days. No wonder many people are thinking about leaving this country.
|

Well, there's little wonder why. Emperor Trudeau and his cronies have enjoyed fascist rule increasingly over the past few years, with anyone who disagrees with them being silenced or otherwise sanctioned. And now that the cost of housing and services has gone through the roof, why should they stay? 'O Canada' indeed!

I was raised in Vancouver and our family moved to the US when I was 32 for 22 years. In 2021, after our kids graduated high school, we made the decision to move back to Canada for several reasons, top of the list was universal healthcare. We live a good life in Victoria and don't regret our decision. Canada just feels safer and we have had wonderful experiences with our medical care. No matter what Western G7 nation you live in, prices are high, housing costs are high, it's the unfortunate outcome of neoliberalism and the wealth gap.

The most qualified and motivated are leaving, while we ramp up diploma-mills for the mediocre. The government has not invested in new housing, new infrastructure, more doctors, better on boarding for those with foreign qualifications etc. No, we just suck in huge amounts of immigrants with no real planning or investment. No wonder the best of them rapidly realize they want out. I recently met a pediatrician from Venezuela working in an Apple store, what a bloody waste!

So faculty greed is destroying Canada with the lack of affordable housing, rising homelessness, lack of care for its citizens, etc.? They want the students high tuition money because they pay more. I wonder if it's the same in the US. I guess this is called selling out? No wonder China has caught up so quickly as there is a ton of Chinese students that come here.

Canada is a mess, only one political party to blame ?♂️?♂️?♂️. This is what happens when you let too many unskilled people in and not enough housing or work for them to do. Then you allow everyone to get stoned legally then you allow harder drugs to be used legally. Then you wonder why the vulnerable are taken advantage of by all the drug dealers…

Wonderful! You can buy all the empty houses and make a ton of money as a landlord. As people leave, real estate prices in Canada should be falling. Don't complain about Canada's taxes; they are half of that of Europe and Australia/NZ. And you must love the national healthcare!

We are Christian. We lived in the Chicago area which deteriorated tremendously in crimes, respect for others, morals, and people's tolerance for others. The only thing that kept going up in Illinois is their taxes. The 'ruling party' leaves normal people speechless-- in that criminals crimes and behaviors are excused! \nSo we moved to Florida which has a majority of conservative people. We found our town there by first searching for a Church which matches our beliefs, whose worship style and music speaks to our spirit, which offers Bible study groups and has a blessed Pastor.\nFind a house was simple and our neighbors are wonderful!\nAmen and Amen!\nAnd may your relocation go smoothly as well!

honorable mention that I wonder how some humans remain alive in the wintertime as homeless because the cold not only search on a house but also for a long period of winter cycle heating cost and heating maintenance that is a whole industry on its own.... beautiful country!!! \nbut in continuously rising cost for natural gas and fossil energy that is a serious big amount extracted from hard-earned salary

The 'Canadian Experience' is a protective slogan/ dogma to shield locals' jobs from the threat of newcomers.\nI have BA and MA degrees in architecture, recognized in all Europe, UK and France among those countries, that were not good enough for here.\nThe very few conversations I had, with potential employers, always ended when 'the Canadian experience' issue was brought up.\nThen people wonder why 99% of the individual houses built have 'the French Chateau' look in the 21st century!

I start to wonder if there's anyone who is not struggling in Toronto unless rich? I got a well paying job, not even my own place (shared house with too many people) and a car and an estimate of 70-80% of my income is used for monthly bills. You don't even get the basics in this city without struggling. Looking for alternative but rental prices seem to be high everywhere even in Kingston and other places far away. Food prices are insane, going out has become very expensive. Don't even mention all the taxes and high car insurance rates. Feel stuck. It's a nightmare.

So, what’s most of the $$$ that has been given to Gaza over the years been used for? Hospitals? Schools and universities? Old folks homes? Orphanages? Housing? Infrastructure (roads, bridges, desalination plants, power plants, airports, sea ports, etc…)? Fine dining? Tourism? Agriculture? Seriously, Just wondering…

Canada, the land itself and the wonderful wilderness is second to none.\nBut the culture and governance have robbed my country of all opportunities except selling houses and drilling oil.\nNo innovation, no competition, no growth.\nIts insane that a country born on third base can stagnate this badly.

The same thing is happening in Australia. Bring in hundreds of thousands of immigrants, don't built enough houses and then wonder why our young people are being forced out of the housing market. Our health care system is becoming overwhelmed. I believe that Australia and Canada are now in a massive Ponzi scheme and it'll end in tears.

I wonder how much these problems are related to Covid or were pre-existing? Even if past the worst of the pandemic, there has been a major supply chain shock. I feel that these conditions have been exploited and made worse by some price gouging. Or large corporations buying up housing as an investment to 'flip'.
|

This is just really sad to hear. Legal immigration seems like a game of musical chairs and the music has stopped. New legal migrants are met with unsustainable economic and housing conditions. I wonder if it is going to get worse?

Currently, annual immigration in Canada amounts to around 500,000 new immigrants – one of the highest rates per population of any country in the world. As of 2022, there were more than eight million immigrants with permanent residence living in Canada - roughly 20 percent of the total Canadian population. Where is the data coming from that no one wants to live in Canada anymore?\n\nCanadians love to complain. Yes, there is crime, homelessness, drug use, extreme weather, housing crisis... but that's not isolated to Canada. Obviously there are ways to improve, but I wonder which other country would Canadians like to live in instead? Also, Canada is not just Vancouver and Toronto... Canadians are spoiled with the ability to easily move to lower cost of living areas in the same country. Imagine living in Singapore where and entire country is expensive and a Toyota Prius costs more than $100k, or Hong Kong where the real estate prices make Vancouver seem cheap... but people can't move away.
|

According to the Liberals that would mean 75% of Canadians are racist. I wonder how many other names they'll call us for pointing out basic facts. We're already right wing extremists for not wanting the carbon tax or affordable housing.

FYI Canadians, Refugees, and immigrants are fleeing Canada, because of the hate against white people, the outlandish cost of living, and the lies about our British ancestors who by the way gave all the land back to 1st nations/metis and we pay rent to live on their land. 1763 King George the 3rd made it so after our British ancestors' soldiers who fought against the French who wanted all the land to be the NEW PARIS! King George also set up a huge Trust Fund that we Canadians pay RENT into to live on their land. 1st Nations/metis is a multi-billion industry and we white British are being ripped off by our landlord the 1st Nations/metis. 1st nations/Metis also are racists against the JEWS and are siding with HAMAS and blaming the JEWS. I think it is time we white British and the Jews leave Canada. We can call it the big SWITCHAROO, we whites and Jews return back to Britain, etc and Britain, etc will send all of their haters to Canada. I am serious please write to the KING demanding we leave. Let us stop this multicultural charade that we whites invented, return home shut down 1st Nations/metis Trust Funds, and end the proclamations and protection for 1st Nations/metis have from Britain. 1st nations/metis please please write to the king and let's get the SWITCHAROO ROLLING. For all the 1st nations/metis siding with radical Islam against the Jews...Congratulations on siding with the NAZIS! We white British ended slavery in 1801 for Britain and Canada by King George the 3rd! We whites invented the phrase do not judge by the color of their skin...Why do whites say that? A duh the white race came from AFRICA and they have proven this with DNA. 2 sets of Africans migrated out of Africa to colder regions of the world and became dark-tanned, lighter-tanned, and white because of the lack of sun that our and my ancestors received from the AFRICAN SUN! FYI every human on this planet has ancient African DNA.\nThanks for ruining Canada and the USA leftwingers/1st nations/metis etc. \nLife will be wonderful for you all in Canada after we leave, just think once we leave you will have no one else to blame but yourselves.\nNow the housing crisis, there are too many apartments that have turned into CONDOS and they always have lots of vacancies.\nDemand Boxable homes, it is cheaper, humane, takes one hour to put together, and Tornado, earthquake, etc free. It has a bed, couch, built-in flatscreen TV, a full fridge, oven, washer/dryer, air conditioning, and shower with tubs. You can put a couple of them together to make a 2+ bedroom etc. Demolish all the blocks of rundown houses and put boxable homes call it the boxable neighborhood, for low-income families, our Veterans, seniors, and white/metis men who are the highest in homeless. The highest number of suicides worldwide is WHITE MEN just so you know!\n\n1st nations you have work to do now start writing to the king so we can end this great big lie about multiculturalism.\nWhile you do that we white British descendants will write to the king that we are being ripped off, and demonized and how it is a crime to sue white people for crimes that happened before we were even born...that is a move that nazis did to the JEWS! We fought against the fricken Nazis and won and the 1st nations/metis have allowed nazis on their land...Time to leave Canada so the nazi praising landowner's 1st nations/metis can receive money from the nazis, which they will not pay. FYI Muslims are saying they will rule Canada by 2030 and guess what will be implemented SHARIA LAW. Have fun with that. LMAO!

I'm from Asia and recently moved to Canada with my family to live a slower-paced and safer life. I've seen firsthand that the drug problem here is worse than it was back home, and they're being coddled with no plans to discipline or rehabilitate them. I asked my friends how I could defend myself and my family if a random drug addict broke into our house and stole our belongings; could I at least beat that person up until the police arrived? They said you couldn't because you'd be charged with assault. It's funny. \n\nApart from the crimes and exorbitant living costs despite living in a rural area, even Canadians who have lived in the country since birth are struggling to make ends meet. \n\nSome positive comments, Canada provided me with a work-life balance that was not possible in Asia due to the competitive nature of the corporate world. So I had time to spend with my family, and you don't have to travel abroad to see beautiful scenery. Canadians are also very accommodating and friendly, in contrast to where I came from, where people will not help unless it benefits them as well. The Canadians here are extremely friendly. So Canada is great because of its people, but I can tell you that the government consistently makes bad decisions about how to solve certain problems, such as drugs and harm reduction strategies. Another issue is that they do not recognize internationally trained professionals, which could have helped alleviate healthcare issues in our area, where we have many internationally trained nurses from the Philippines working as restaurant servers and janitors. We have doctors from Kenya who have to work as general laborers and in other odd jobs where they can use their profession and experience to help people. I am also an immigrant, but the government should strategically distribute us based on our qualifications. I chose a rural area because I don't want to add to the number of immigrants in big cities and instead want to contribute to the local economy by bringing my skills and experience to the pool. \n\nCanada is a wonderful country, and I continue to believe so, but the government must reward and do more for its people who are trying their best to make this country great.
