I don't think the problems you're describing are a uniquely Toronto issue (many cities across the world are having an affordability crisis - Toronto's is bad, but not unique). I think it's also a lasting effect from COVID (especially on the mental health side). I do sympathize with Chow - seems like the city isn't getting much help from the feds who are allowing mass immigration without any infrastructure or services to support it (see 10.5% proposed property tax hike in order to keep the city afloat after Tory). All in all, think the city needs a bit of time to heal after the past few years but I'm optimistic it'll get there.

Israeli politicians have been proposing the idea of migration as a solution for Palestinians, when you hear a journalist bring this topic up, you know you’re speaking to the snake itself.

Well said, perfect response to a dumb proposal!!

If we stopped voting for this idiots, we wouldn't have these problems. Toronto mayor proposed 10.5 property tax increase. Good luck voting for liberals ?

I know....people have been spinning this tale, let the Arab world take these people, why would you create refugees and propose people get kicked out of their own homes ???\nWhy is Germany not being asked to pay for their war crimes against Jews??\nWhy were the Jews not given a part of Germany??...but so easily moved all the Jews to Palestine!
|
| 2024-01-07 | 0 |
Idiotic comments from both. If he knew anything of history, the reason the arab world doesn't take in refugees is either because it's political advantageous not to do so (as this Saudi delegate so eloquently displays, deflecting blame back onto Israel by proposing an unrealistic long-term solution and avoiding admitting that his country should help shelter Palestinians even in the short term) and also that in the countries that DID take refugees, the Palestinian government started coups in their countries. Remember Black September.

Those who left can't go back!! This is not a solution at all. Stop proposing Arabs take Palestinians as refugees

Where is the problem then ! ISRAEL as proposed so manu 2 state solution even accepting as far as 99 % of what Palestine wanted ! They still refused ! \n\nThe 22 Arab States and the 48 Muslim states should take responsibility because this is a Palestinian autority problem now that just wants 2 wipe Israel !

Mr. Saleh,\n\nI recommend that you consider immigrating to the Emirate of Sharjah, situated within the United Arab Emirates. The city is characterized by its exceptional security and safety. Additionally, this location provides a secure environment for families, as there is a plentiful availability of employment opportunities across all fields of expertise. Simultaneously, it is a traditional emirate and aligns perfectly with every part of your proposal. To the esteemed family:\n\nGreetings,

The Arab world has refused to accept any proposals for two states. The Arab world does not want Palestinians to leave even when the Palestinian themselves want to leave. The Arab world wants to keep the focus on Palestine to avoid any focus on themselves and their deplorable records on individual rights.
|

Maybe Hamas should surrender and Palestinians should accept the two state proposal offered since 1947. Then they could all live in peace. The Arab nations should not be expected to fix or meddle in this conflict. Hamas isn't wanted in any country, including the Arab world.

So salary laws need to be addressed. Housing issues should be looked into and better integration of immigrants to local communities. These are all policies issues, human created peoblems, that can be resolved. There are already numerous solutions proposed by experts and other parties to solve those issues. Most of those could already of been solved. It's the will to solve those issues that seems to be lacking.

You think rent is bad in Canada? Rent for a married couple I studied for a PhD research proposal has seen their rent go from 4%% of their combined income to 78%. That's 158% of a single persons income in the area. ?That is also fr the cheapest rent not the average rent. There is also another reason people from Europe are no longer emigrating to Canada. Political Correctness has got completely out of hand with Canada being the only western country with compeled speech,

Why didn't you agree to the 52-nation conference in Saudi Arabia when there was a proposal for sanctions against Israel ? If everyone had been united on that day, Israel would not have committed so much genocide?? Thousands of children would not have been orphans????

God bless you sir, ?? imagine the solution they propose is for Palestinians to vacate their land forcefully. How evil ? ?

This is sad. . but it's even more sad that our veterans can get the help they need . So until our homeless and mentally unstable vets get care they should not let any more immigrants in. And the ones they do let in need to pay taxes. And I propose they pay a taxes not burden out tax money our gov does that enough

Canada does NOT need more government (the proposed Chief Talent Officer bureaucracy) in this regard.\nIt simply needs to get out of the way.\n\nDrop the hubris about Canada always having superior standards and streamline those immigrants who are able to take their talents and apply them in Canada.

My refusal letter only says • Pursuant to paragraph 220(a) of the IRPR, I am not satisfied that you have sufficient and available financial resources, without working in Canada, to pay the tuition fees for the course or program of studies that you intend to pursue.\n• Pursuant to paragraph 220(b) of the IRPR, I am not satisfied that you have sufficient and available financial resources, without working in Canada, to maintain yourself and any family members who are accompanying you during your proposed period of study.\nI showed very good documents even a house in my name that’s being rented

I'm gonna propose something not so crazy because Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and the US all do different parts of these already - that any country that's majority English speaking/common law based legal system can opt in to standardize credentials for high school, university, and trade schools. Each country publishes an annual skills shortage list and any citizen of those countries with the right credentials can apply for a work permit (so you can be properly vetted) that becomes valid with a job offer. The US & Canada already do this for select occupations through NAFTA and Aussies can already effectively move to the US under the E-3 visa program. I'm American but went to university in Australia. It's really silly that we don't already do this. I also live in Florida now and work with people from Trinidad, Jamaica, Bahamas, etc. and it's such an unnecessarily burdensome process to hire a professional who you know already has the credentials and work experience.

Nothing a conservative will ever propose will ever do anything to reduce cost of living or help the needy he will serve only the rich, only corporations and landlords, Whatever Trudeau is please do not trust this snake.

I was a French exchange student for my masters at UCSD. I met my current fiancé a couple years ago at the start of my masters and he proposed right before I left. I just got my appointment at the Paris embassy, a year after we started the K1 visa process. It’s a long, expensive and very frustrating process but I can’t wait to marry him and go to the beach again! When we first submitted our application and we looked at the wait times with the lawyer, I was so relieved to see that for French immigrants, the wait times are 1/10th of most other countries. China, Philippines, India and South American countries have it way worst. Great video as usual ❤

The obnoxious thing is: the US could have adopted a point-based system back during the Trump administration.\n\nThe problem? The points system Trump proposed was totally unacceptable to the Dems, and they, rather than offer a counter proposal, just flat out rejected it.\n\nIn an alternate reality, they would have countered with a points system just as left-wing as his was right-wing, and then everyone would have met in the middle and fixed the immigration system.

I think Canada economy is not as flawed as this video propose. Instead I would say that Canada as develop a strange equilibrium by surfing on the American economy. It does not need to take risk : to be entrepreneurial, to pay for research. AKA, Canada is out sourcing the risk out of its economy and I wouldn't be surprise if Canada is always performing relatively better when recessions happen.

Very true. The problem that Canada has is there is getting to be a large portion of people that have taken our wealth for granted. This generation has forgotten how wealth is created, so much so that when any projects are proposed there is automatic opposition to them. And the opposition is given so much credibility that many projects never see the light of day. Canadians are the kings of missed opportunities.

It's unconscionable that we've invited people to come to Canada without actually following through on the promise we made to them in the first place. Was it all just sloganeering designed to appeal to liberal progressive NIMBYers? Was there ever any intent on actually doing something for these poor people beyond a sound bite or photo op? \n\nThe solution to migration because of war, terror, famine and so on is not by opening up the borders and allowing everyone in, the solution to mass migrations (over 100 million worldwide) is to tackle the conditions that make such migrations necessary. Almost without exception, each one of these migrant/refugee situations are the result of political problems that have to be tackled in those countries where the conditions exist. There are over 100 million people fleeing conditions that make life unbearable, even if we wanted to, how are we to take them all into North America? How does anyone propose we do that, and even if we could manage it somehow, another 100 million would show up on our doorstep next year...or next week...it's simply not possible or reasonable to expect us to be overwhelmed by wave after wave of the poor unfortunate. The solutions to war and famine abroad can't be found here and we need to make it plain that people who live in such conditions must first rise up to help themselves. We can and should help, politically, through foreign aid and individual donations (North Americans are among the most generous donators after all), and even militarily where feasible or possible. The UN and other coalitions of nations, must each take up the burdens before people smugglers take it up for them. We have our own problems to deal with here and I'm not willing to vote for promises made that were never meant to be kept.

Ok - here's what I propose :\nGo around to ALL the colleges and universities and big cities like NY and Shit-cago and get all those people who want and love socialism.\nWe'll trade them, one for one, with the people from Venezuela.

The tax points are valid but it also has a plus side. Having the sales tax added at checkout forces you to know what you are paying and hopefully being outraged at each and every purchase. Income taxes on your pay stub every two weeks throws the tax amount right into your face so that you can't not know. 30 years ago in Ontario there was a proposal to have sales tax included in prices. I wrote a letter to my MPP arguing against. People need to be confronted by the idea of their tax amounts. Being perpetually offended by taxation keeps the populace from getting complacent about government mismanagement of the public purse.

Sounds like a good plan and I propose that they allow all of those newcomers to move to every province except Ontario and Quebec because they have enough people. I would also propose that all newcomers by fluent in English so to not put the burden on taxe payers for paying for their education for decades before they are able to work in places where they are needed.

I am an immigrant myself and came here through Express Entry, before that I studied in the U.S. I am all for Immigration but with recent events, I think the government should spend more time on the cost of living crisis and housing crisis. What I am proposing is we make room and keep cost low if we are to bring in more immigrants. The hard to find workers argument is basically people not working low paying jobs, most of these immigrants will be educated, have degrees and mostly in Finance or Tech fields, the talent in these fields are saturated and it's very hard to have job mobility in these sectors. I am not for kicking the ladder down once I made it, I am just saying we should focus on cost of living and housing so that these immigrants can succeed and better contribute when they come here, instead of living in the living room because they can't afford rent in the cities and not finding work since most are in saturated fields.

One must get all the information ( which is available in public domain ) before landing the proposed country. I know some guys, who landed Canada after their Graduation and for their Master's degree. They r ok now. They are all Academically qualified from their native country and higher education from Canada. All of them are working now and leading a good life there. All the professionals who've very good academic background, should undergo some type of higher education there in Canada. Other wise doctors / engineers may end up their life as taxi drivers / gardener... etc. Get thorough knowledge about the country where one has to go., study there and get well placed and live happily ever after. - From own experience -

Watched the full 10 minutes. While I heard a bunch of generalized rhetoric, there is not one single concrete example and proposed solution to said example. What’s the point of that if there is indeed a problem, and you actually care about solving it??

We now have a new caravan coming from Honduras again. What I propose is we the conservatives in the US help them (The hondurans) when they get into our country (and you know they will) keep that caravan going full steam ahead, right up to Canada! Let's get them to the country that talks crap about our president for wanting to protect our boarders. Let's make it happen! To Candada they shall all go! Whoo hoo! ?

I agree with you a 100%. I'm a muslim and you need to understand that not all of us are like that. The media is reporting this story that involved ''a hand full'' of idiots calling them self muslim disturbing people. This is not islam. The land does not belong to anybody so there is no way of making a revolution against another social group. We have to learn to coexist in this unique planet. Your proposal is quite weird ... its not solving anything. Thank god your not the gov lool ;p
