I feel like moving as a lifelong Canadian. I love people and love culture. I don't like extremists. \n\nMy problem is simply I don't our government is ethical nor caring to it's citizens, and as far as immigrants go, I am absolutely all for it with a reasonable rate without displacement or a negative sum on people that have built families here already. You can't just say we want to help and not give one thought about implications whatsoever. \n\nWhere I live you can't add thousands of people without thinking about making roards wider or more busses.\n\nWe don't look like idiots, we are. Let's welcome a host of new beautiful people into out country and not have a single plan in place besides pay for their housing (not necessarily bad), pay for their transportation (not necessarily bad), and allow a rent bubble to put our welcoming citizens with Trades to live in tents.\n\nHow about this as a sane alternative, the billions of dollars in road tax from gas prices which hasn't improved the roads, and the billions from legalized gambling...how about we audit our government and take a hard and difficult look as to where all this tax money goes, and more importantly the detailed justification? \n\nSame thing, same day. Canada has to be corrupt as the day is long OR our greatness was built on an history of lies. When I worked in there, there was a suspicious package that evacuated half the whole station, idek how many ODs which is horrible, I couldn’t count how many I saw or how many I reported. An OD I called about, left zipped up on a stretcher, like this is only what I saw on my smoke breaks. How my store had a panic button underneath every single till, one time this guy who had been a problem was choking out a girl in the middle of the station, security on the floor above just doing jack shit to the point myself and a random stranger passing by stepped in as she was turning purple. Like, I can’t put into words how the city is deteriorating every hour…

Population will always cause problems , Canada does not have the infrastructure to accommodate this many immigrants. Trudeau is a loser and he has single handily put Canada into a total crisis. I have a relative in Ontario Canada working at a Food Basics. He told me that so many Indians that are international students are applying there every single day. And he has seen large stacks of resumes that is two feet high in the main office where he works. These international students believe that they can make a living from low skilled jobs and make ends meet in Canada. Hardly any of these international students will actually graduate from their respective Universities or colleges because they would rather work and take work from Canadians who are actually willing to apply and work at these jobs.\nThe Food Basics that my relative works at has a bit over 40 employees. 30 of them are Indian and the rest are local Canadians. And just you know a lot of these Indian workers that work there are low skilled, can't speak English, can't communicate right with the customers and their fellow workers, and have a sense of entitlement.

Herman D. Potzner PhD from Harvard has written a book called Burn, discussing Food Economy and Climate. He says that the US consumes 25 quadrillion kilocalories every year at a population of 330 million. To do this the annual expenditure is 77 million kilocalories per person. That's 210,000 kcal per day to give one american their daily calories. Globally we use 141 quadrillion kcal each year, on average of 47,000 kcal per person per day. This is 16x more energy needed than our metabolic engines require. There are 7.7 billion people on earth, but we are burning energy like there are 120 billion of us. He says it is completely unsustainable. I've added this because it seems food prices have not hindered people from buying, nor going out to restaurants, nor ordering take out and having it delivered. Why are food prices going up? Because they can. As for housing, single tenanted homes are probably a thing of the past and most of us may have to consider renting together or buying together as much as other parts of the world have been doing for generations.

Lemme lay it pretty bare as a Canadian myself… approximately 1/8 individuals (or on family scale roughly 1/5) suffers from food insecurity. That number can double when ya go farther north or into Indigenous communities thanks to food deserts…. A rich nation where more than 10% of people have to worry about something as basic as dinner day to day… if that isn’t a warning sign of a sinking ship I have no idea what is…\nOh and our housing issue is totally a cost/accessibility issue and not a shortage. There is about 3 empty residential homes/apartments per every single unhoused person living rough outside…and if we account for shelter homeless (ie those couch surfing or otherwise under a roof without a fixed residence) the rate of unhoused triples…

Canada hasn't always been this expensive, no. On a single, very average, middle-class salary, my Grandparents bought a detached home in the GTA, raised 6 kids and still managed to save around $350,000 for retirement despite the fact my Grandfather's job (as many jobs did in those days) provided him with a defined-benefit pension plan, which has been entirely stripped away from modern workers.\n\nThat was a mere 60 years ago. Canada used to be a paradise. All you needed was a willingness to work.

Hey these are my last 15 days in Canada I have everything here good job but we are moving back for my son. Here zero social life for immigrants unless u have your relatives here already. Mg son goes to school for 4 hours and rest of the day we try to keep him busy in activities at home but we are humans too , not everyday we can keep him busy all the time away from I pad TV. I am frustrated seeing him like this. We are here since 2022 he was 2 years old now he is 3+. He has not a single interaction with other child in our apartment… just school time is interacting time for him with other kids .. as a mother I am depressed and taken decision to go back to my home … now I can see him playing outside and interacting with people…. No restriction nothing… We have prioritised his physical health so coming back.. and yes u are right car is must..

You tend to get high taxes in places with free health care. Many use Canada as a bridge country to the US. In the US health care is very expensive. Many companies you would work for offer free health care plans for single individuals ( if you have a family it costs a lot ) but those plans have such high deductibles and co-pays that you can't afford to use it. Most US health care plans have very high deductibles ad co-pays making it extremely expensive. Then when you retire and start getting social security which is not much money by the way, you also get Medicare which also has a monthly charge around $150 mth. It doesn't cover everything. It does not cover dental or vision. It does not cover all your hospital stay which tends to occur as you get older. Most Americans end up having to sell their homes that they spent a lifetime paying off, to pay medical bills and end up on Medicaid which is the free last resort medical care and end up in a nursing home to end your days. Most nursing homes are bad. You end up in a 2 person room, in diapers, up for meals and back to bed, diaper changed 2 times per shift and one shower per week done by whomever in the communal shower room. Shelves until you die, which many do very quickly out of despair. After working your whole life that is the prize folks in the US.

Same reasons why I left Canada. It’s my first year in Kuwait (expat teacher) and honestly I’m loving it here. My husband and children are also with me and they love it here too. As we speak, the athan just began and it is such a blessing that we are missing in Canada. The weather feels like spring here and the sun is out almost every single day. I left Canada 2 years ago and moved to California. I lived for 13 years in Mississauga. About Canada: terrible weather, worst drivers, fewer cops to ticket drivers, worst community and University teaching experience. I taught for 13 years in Ontario, and it's all business. Housing is more expensive in Mississauga than a beach house in Orange County. Excellent medical system in Southern California (at least what I have experienced so far with two younger daughters). With year-round great weather and access to high-quality fruits and vegetables, school systems are among the finest in the US. I have not heard a single gunshot in the last 2 years. People are not allowed to take weapons unless concealed with a license.\n\nI would not recommend anyone to settle in Canada. I heard that most immigrants who move to Canada are not well-educated and end up doing blue-collar jobs. Those who are educated are doing under-qualified jobs. A super expensive country with super high vehicle insurance, expensive cell phone and cable plans, and so on. I took a dermatologist appointment for my kid, and it took 6 months in Ontario versus two days in the US. I know it is just my case, but overall, I am very happy that I left Canada.

Till october 6th there was a ceasefire. There was humanitarian aid every single day. But the problem is they dont wish to coexist in peace With Jews. It boils down to the Liberal Party, which has been in power since 2015, e.g.:\n- high immigration targets and housing/jobs/healthcare/etc can't keep up.\n- decriminalization/destigmatization of drugs (especially in Vancouver)\n- political correctness, censorship, gender ideology, health mandates, soft on some crimes but harsh on thought crimes, etc.\n\nAs for other things like weather and challenges in finding a job, these were always the case but Canada really started to go down when Trudeau became PM.\n\nI migrated with my family as a teen. Parents (engineer and nurse) couldn't find a job in their field. Mom had to start as a care aide while she re-certify as a registered nurse even though she has a masters and taught nursing in a college in the Philippines. Dad had to settle as an appliance technician.\n\nThe 4 of us lived in a single-bedroom basement suite, but we bought a half-duplex in Vancouver in a couple of years, which would be practically impossible these days.\n\nI make a decent amount niw and own 3 properties, but if I have to buy my house at its current market value ($1.9m), I can't afford it. Even that half-duplex, my parents sold it at 6x during a down market years ago.\n\nThen there's crime and drugs: I've worked in the downtown east side of Vancouver since 2006 and the last couple or so years has been really bad - it's like a zombie apocalypse. Glad I work remote and have moved to a suburb around Vancouver. That said, I'm highly considering moving but it's hard with kids and aging parents.

I stopped visiting Canada 40 years ago because of insane or corrupt border control policies. I traveled to Canada from California to record an album for a popular rock star. My crew number 4 people and we had reserves a month for basic tracking in a studio there. We bought our own reels of 3 inch wide recording tape because the studio wanted twice the rate as normal and since my studio was a distributor for the mastering tapes we brought from my own inventory. Each reel of tape was 3 lbs and brought 30 reels. We got to customs and they said we owed money for importing the tape. Normally a reel would have been $180, and customs wanted $38,000 x 20, and would not let us retrieve it to take it back to the US side of the border. How can a tape worth $180 suddenly have duty of $38,000?\nIt was explained to me as the Potential Value of the tape which meant AFTER a hit song was recording in it. Most recordings are total losses and the tape cant used on a new project even if properly bulk-erased. They expected me to pay on the spot $760,000 in duties. I gave up and left the tape with them. I called the artist and said we could not do the project in Canada and we went back to California. The artist came to us a few months later and the result was a minor hit, and probably barely made its production cost since the label only distributed it in Canada. I talked to an international trade lawyer about what happened and he said customs officials were wrong in Canada but they are given full latitude with no appeal so his advice was never take anything over the border that I did not mind being confiscated. Sometimes they would let it in because it was going back out in a month, but likely they sold it off and pocketed the money. The US is corrupt on a federal level but Canada is corrupt on the local level. I moved out of the US 24 years ago have a much higher quality of life than is even possible in the US, and live very cheaply. Total cost of living with a very active social and cultural life impossible to duplicate in the US which as some of the least options for culture. And my cost of living is $1500 a month, less than utilities alone for one house in California, and that is for 2 people. Last month for example I attended world class opera, ballet and symphonies 9 times, and went out to dinner, in jazz clubs or dance clubs, visited12 top museums, and it was still under $1500 for the month. A pair of tickets to the MET in NYC for lower grade performance, sets, orchestra ad theater, was $1800!! $600 for tickets to drama for 2. Here there 237 drama theaters within walking distance of my city center home, and can walk anywhere at any time of day and be safe due to VERY low crime rates. Free medical is good. I am not citizen but still I had an operation and 10 days in a vip single room for $5300 and despite my insurance I had been paying back in California $824.month, it was going to cost me out o pocket $500,000 and one day in a recovery 12 bed room, and require paid nursing attendant for 30 days. The results were great and was treated like king.\nCanadians have lost control of their government but Americas are screwed regardless, with lower than international standards for everything, with crime, corruption in Washington, extreme cost of living, no access to culture, few if any safe parks. My adopted city is not only far more beautiful than any US city, my GF can walk, alone, anywhere in a city of 7mil at any time of day through any of the 600 beautiful parks open 24/7..at 3am. There are no homeless, and 80% of those over 20yo own their home clear of debt. No college debt despite twice the % of people having degrees. The rest of the world caught up and has surpassed the US and Europe in quality of life. \n\nI have only been back to the US 5 times in 24 years and each time I am shocked by how much the entire society has declined while most of the world outside of Europe, Canada, US, UK or Australia have dramatically improved.\nEvery year since 2008 more Americans leave the US to live elsewhere than legal immigrants arrive.

You lost me at #2. It doesn't get talked about much because it is absolute nonsense. East Asians make more money than White Canadians. Culture matters. Two parents in the home matters. In Finland the number of the homeless people has decreased to almost non existing when we started to give the homeless small apartments and after that all the support to carry on their lives and to become again a tax paying respectable citizen.\n Finland spends much, much less money than before. \nNoone is sleeping rough. The number of homeless is all the time decreasing.\n\nIf we had not corrected our way of thinking, we would have now tens of thousands homeless persons as the problems seem to get bigger when managed incorrectly.\n\nAs the homelessness is getting worse everywhere in the world and the problems get bigger every single day in spite of all the money spent, it's time to start following everywhere the Housing First method.

One insane thing in Canada is even you work 40 years with a salary of 100k /yr, you are lucky if you get $1500 pension, while someone didn’t work a single day would get $1100 OAS… IT’s completely messed up. To make things worse, we selfemployed have to play $6600 a year to contribute to our CPP, but what’s the point?

A company I worked with for 3 years sent me to the states (primarily Seattle) to work out of a studio there for about a third of every year I worked with them. It was like Vancouver, but even less friendly, more violence (heard a minimum of three gunshots a day while working there, and I can go years without hearing a single one where I live in Canada), and the amount of poverty was insane.

Came to Canada from Israel 25 years ago. That time, in 1998 Canada GDP per capits was 33% higher than that in Israel. Two years ago Israel left Canada behind. It is shame for Canada to be poorer than the very small country without mineral resources and without a single day of peace since 1948. \n\nI blame Canadians for that. Housing costs are crazy here in Toronto...I lost my apt ...(740 sq. ft. - one bedroom)...which I had in Etobicoke at the end of Covid Jan. 2022 ...( My rent started at $940/month in 2016 and to just a tad over $1000/month in 2022. I Was on welfare during Covid 2020-2022)... Welfare only pays $733 for a single male (Welfare recipients weren't eligible for that CERB that paid every 2 weeks so I had to sell most of my furniture and cherished antiques to survive...Lost my apt...couldn't afford it anymore and I ended up in my sister's basement for 3 months but moved to a rooming house in the east end of Toronto at the end of April. Thank God that I got a job working in a hospital as a janitor...Still, I pay $650 a month for a room that is about 75 square feet....I've seen closets bigger...I share 4 washrooms and one laundry room with one washer and dryer and a laundry tub (This is the main source of water for cooking) with 26 other roomers...There is no kitchen and no lounge area...So yeah Housing is Fuked Up here in Toronto!... I was so close to being homeless...I do not work full-time. I am only on-call so I am at least able to make ends meet but still, it's hard surviving here in the big city...I was born here and grew up here and this city may have changed on the surface but beneath it, it's rotting to the core and it's getting worse every day!.... Very good video but a few things are missed. \nLife in Canada is far better than any day in the USA!\nCANADA has a Public, Single-Payer Healthcare Insurance since the 1960's, something the USA in 2023 still does not have. So yes you may make\nmore money in the USA, but that all can go away with a serious health issue even with US private Insurance. Plus Canada is very\nmulticultural and Racism towards many is barely an issue compared to the USA.\nI grew up in the USA and now live in Canada and even though I have the choice to live in either country, YOU could not pay me to live\nin the USA, culturally the country is a nightmare if you are not White, Christian and Heterosexual then you are considered a problem.

As sad as this is, in America the stats actually proove you wrong , as every single day in America there are now 2 MASS SHOOTINGS ..many times more then 2 a day…it used to be 1 every single day….but now it’s at LEAST 2 MASS SHOOTINGS EVERY DAY IN AMERICA…..many of which as you know are SCHOOL SHOOTINGS.\n\nI was disgusted when it reached 1 Mass shooting everyday a couple of years back….the fact that the stat has only risen and one entire Political party is BEHIND IT…IS REVOLTING…THE AMERICAN PEOPLE NEED TO VOTE THE MAGGAT REPULSIVE PARTY OUT OF POWER FOR GOOD. America could be like Canada if they actually gave the Democrats actual majority power in America and if they stopped the VAST GERRYMANDERING, VOTER SUPPRESSION and FEAR MONGERING of the Repulsive party.

We are not a smaller America. In spite of what some Americans seem to have thought since 1776, we choose to be Canadians. We do not want to be, nor are we in any shape or form Americans. We like who we are. I have a friend in the Flint MI area. As a single women living in a rural community, she keeps a gun near her bed in case someone breaks in. I can't imagine living in such fear. I too live in a rural area in SW Ontario. We don't even feel the need to lock our doors. We don't even want to cross the border to visit these days. Get your guns under control and we will reconsider a visit.

When you say school shootings aren't that bad / don't happen every day you really have been conditioned not take it seriously.\n\nLook up the stats, the US has had HUNDREDS of school shootings over the last 10 years, where as the next worst country has had single digits, and Canada has had about 2.\n\nHint, there is only ONE country that I know of that has active shooter drills.

To your point about choosing where exactly in the US you live - I grew up for 26 years near Toronto but have lived in the US for the last 20 (husband is American). We live in a bubble of like-minded and similar people, and there are very few places in the US we could tolerate. Also, DO NOT underestimate the effects of school shootings on families. I have kids and I'm a teacher. It's on my mind EVERY SINGLE DAY. I'm kind of hoping my kids decide to go to university in Canada. Finally, don't forget that for good health insurance, you are paying a premium just for the coverage, and then on top of that if anything happens you are paying hundreds/thousands of dollars for the services!

Children ARE being shot on a daily basis all over the United States! You guys have multiple mass shootings every single day. There's so many of them that you don't even hear about most of them on the news because they aren't worth mentioning.

The UK is pretty much like Canada, now. There is only room for the 5% who are rich (the capitalists & rentiers) and the 35% of people on Benefits (the 35% of population who live off welfare paid for by the State using the hard-working tax payer's money). The honest, hard-working middle-class (about 50 to 60% of society) are absolutely screwed and doomed, because all they can now do is keep working their guts out till they drop dead, and never hope to have a decent life. The culture of state-funded Welfare has now gotten so bad that I now live in a street where some 30% of the people who live off Welfare have been given State funded houses, and those houses which are bigger and better than mine (all paid for using my tax money). And I have slogged my entire life (I am 65 now) to pay off a large mortgage on a house that eventually has lower value than the houses that people on Welfare are given on the same Street! Worse still, now that I am approaching the stage where I might need to go into a Care Home, my house (which I worked for my entire life to attain) will have to be sold off to pay for my Care Home costs. While my neighbours who never worked a single day in their life (and whose life was subsidized using my tax money) will again get free state-funded Care Home facility too! It utterly beggars belief. \n\nWhen state-funded Welfare gets to a point that doing an honest day's work actually penalizes you, because all you are doing is funding the lifestyles of the other half of society who wish to sponge off State Welfare (due to the high taxes the Government is forced to impose on the working middle-class to support the 35% on State benefits), then that society can never prosper, firstly because it removes the motivation to work hard, and secondly because some day the Government will run out of money to continuing funding the lavish lifestyles of people on State Welfare. And that is very much now the state of affairs in countries like Canada, the UK, and much of EU. It is an unsustainable model. \n\nBy contrast, in countries like the US, China, India, etc. there is a much greater correlation between hard work and reward. Choosing to not go to work and sponging off Governmental welfare is simply not an option. And that is precisely why countries like these will continue to prosper in the coming years - because they have some form of Meritocracy. Unfortunately, I think countries like the UK, Canada, and most western EU countries are looking at a downward spiral, and there are no easy solutions, because their Welfare model has already created these huge segments of society which depend on it and will not allow it to be demolished - but the day is fast approaching where they will all soon run out of money to continue funding it (most of these countries are already facing huge Debt-GDP ratios, and there is no conceivable way of them coming out of it).

Let 'em through. They think it's so much better here? Let them through, but do not waste a single resource on them. Our own people are suffering and ignored, so let them come rot on the streets. Treat them as we treat our homeless. See how long they stick around. No ID? No job, shelter or help. \nStand on the road being talked smack to with a sign all day, and enjoy the elements! Maybe someone will give you a few dollars to eat, maybe they won't. Enjoy.

And here i am, in the middle of eastern europe, studied hard, saved up every penny i could, even learned to code , found a good coding job, full remote these days, im in spain now, the beach is in my view.. i managed to do all of those things in the past decade, and still i was rejected by the us embrassy every single year, that makes a total of 11 times so far, not a word as to why, just rejected.. tbh i no longer want to move to the states.. i started begging you guys at 18, im 29 now.. i could’ve invested my talents and work in the us, while paying taxes there, instead i work for a us company in a very cheap part of the world while paying a small fraction of taxes to my home country.. keep letting those guys in and avoid us.. soon enough you wont have anyone defending you from the issue’s because the people that make good money and pay high taxes are leaving to make space for the homeless shelters and to avoid being stolen from by the mob

All of those people that cross illegally are detained and returned. Don't be fooled by the scare tactics they use every single time it's getting close to elections. Then if they win, you hear nothing about it for three years. Immigration, gays, abortion and police funding or defunding are the tactics these idealess Republicans use only when it's time to vote.
