We had an amazing country before 2015 federal election when Stephen Harper who studied economics and had a Masters degree was leading the country. Voting is a right and a responsibility that must be taken seriously, please examine candidates achievements before electing anyone. I’m a Canadian and my wife is an immigrant for Punjab and even she thinks this is all getting out of control. She came here to start a new life with me after we met and to get away from Indian culture which she thinks is now seeping into everything. In India it’s survival of the fittest, one must do everything they do and take advantage of everything in order to scrap by. As a high-skill immigrant who came to Canada to work on cutting-edge research and new technologies, I am disappointed at the quality of the jobs in the current market. I wish the local people start valuing skilled immigrants rather than just people who want to come to Canada.

But real Canadians have no democracy.

Why do they come to Canada, if not for the benefits? Why do these countries not set up their own Universities, where former international students go back home and teach their country and students what they learned here. It would be cheaper for them, and they can stay in their own country. But, they don't want to do that as they see Canada as the country of opportunities to bring their whole extended families here. We are already facing housing shortages, and don't need any of this type of opportunistic citizenships. They need to drastically cut the amount of foreign students allowed in. This year they are allowing 485,000 students. This does not take into account the students who are in high school or those studying for their master’s or doctoral degree's. In total it is 552,000. Then add on the Immigrants at 485,000, illegals or asylum claims( which is at record high numbers, could not find the figures for this year), then the migrant workers which are estimated between 700k to 900k. This is all too much. Drastic cuts need to be made, and this government that allowed all that to happen needs to be ousted out.

The primary motive of international students from low and lower income countries coming to Canada is for permanent residency, registering into a post-secondary course is just the price to pay for PR as far as they are concerned. International students know it, the government knows it, and post-secondary institutions know it. Let's all drop the education charade and have a clear cut policy about immigration through education. One easy way is by strictly requiring that all foreign graduates can ONLY apply for immigration from their home country after graduating from Canada. This is the only way Canada can control the timing, the process and the quality of people.

As sad as the incident is, I don’t get the hate. Sheridan College management, Union and Unionized Employees are all part of this. Sheridan College only cared about their own profit and greed. Most programs at this campus are useless. This campus and most other colleges in Ontario are such a huge waste of Tax payers money. This campus looks like a Punjab College in India.
