Born in South Vietnam and raised in Toronto for almost 44 years now I'm still here and Toronto sucks!!! It has become a ghetto! City Toronto leftists' politicians have made it into a shithole! Bike lanes are everywhere and there are not much bikers during the Winter months (something like 8 to 9 months) and summer months I saw few here and there. Rents are totally beyond many peoples affordability. Foods prices are freaking crazy. Reason why this is happening? You have to thank the current idiotic-leftard government under Trutard leadership in Canada. This is thanks to his carbon taxes BS initiative causing high cost in fuel and resulting in major inflations in high food prices, rentals, etc. How can you help refugees and immigrants while Canadians can't even afford to live in Toronto, etc. You need to take care of Canadian first and foremost. Taking in 500 thousands new immigrants and refugees each year isn't going to be help Canada to get this mess we are in. Lower number like 150-200 thousands of new immigrants | refugees is feasible but NOT 500 thousands new immigrants and refugees.

Good solid takes on life in Canada as it stands in the larger cities. My family immigrated in the late 80s when I was a young child to YYZ and the housing prices and quality of living was really solid back then. We moved to YVR in the late 90s and prices seemed to be pretty stable as well. Think things started to change shortly after my undergrad years in the mid 2000s. Unfortunately, the government wanted to increase immigration which is great, but forgot to build out the transportation infrastructure and develop the health care system properly. Foreign credential recognition is really the biggest bottleneck for newcomers. Newcomer employment expectations and what is available to them is not really matching up, I know this first hand as I've worked in the employment enabling sector. Weather as you mentioned is subjective, I prefer the cold, clean crisp air here in Canada, I don't do well in the hot humid polluted weather in most East and Southeast Asian countries. Crime has definitely been on the rise as many people around me have had personal experiences with this topic. Finally housing, to live comfortably in YVR a family income of 150K is probably bare minimum these days.

Well the current government wants to take our personal property away, control the media, limit our rights, make it so expensive we have to choose between putting a roof over our head or eating. Just putting a few reasons why it's probably time to look at living somewhere else than Canada. Hopefully when we vote Trudeau and the liberals out in 2024-25 things will get better.

I am glad that you mentioned politics. In my 70 years of living in Canada, we have had some previous bad governments but i will say that this government is the worst of the worst. When thankfully this government is gone, there still will be some hard times because this present government has dug us into such a deep hole that it will take time to dig us out.

I'm not Indian, I'm indigenous from Canada and I grew up in Vancouver, where the population is mostly from Asia. Being surrounded by people of asian descent is very normal for me. I don't expect anyone to assimilate and lose their culture to exist here. I knew we had a large population of Sikhs here but I didn't think it was nearly as many as in India... and now I find out there are more sikhs here than in India. Amazing. I also didn't know we had so many Sikhs in parliament, let alone Indians. My school is mostly Indian and everyone I talk to has come from Punjab. Everyone seems to love it here, and the school is in the middle of little Punjab so I've been told by my classmates it is the perfect place for the students who are homesick because they are surrounded by their community. I rarely hear English when I walk down the halls, there is even a course to learn to speak Punjabi, which I want to take so I can talk to the students who don't speak English as well. We have many large gurdwaras, and one near me I've eaten langar almost everyday for the past 10 years. Most people here know Sikhs to be very generous and humble. It was a shock to me when I heard the president of Guru Nanak Gurdwara was shot, because I believed Sikhs to be very kind and peaceful, and the gurdwara has a very good reputation as they take lots of food into Vancouver and feed the homeless. They even opened a kitchen in the DTES during the pandemic to be able to have food available to the people immediately. No one else did anything like that. They delivered a lot of food. Now they have an auxiliary kitchen in the DTES permanently that serves free meals. I thought more news would come out of the shooting but it seemed quiet for a bit until Trudeau accused the Indian government of the attack. This news also shocked me, so I decided to start looking into it slowly. I couldn't really get a good idea of what was going on until I searched a video for Diwali and your videos came up. I will share it with my husband so he can be educated on the matter as well. Thank you for your diligent research and dissemination of important knowledge.

I'm sad to say I've been living in Canada since 1980, and you are absolutely correct. Between the pandemic and the lousy government and politics in Canada the last ten years or so, we are in serious decline. I used to highly recommend people live here.. not so much anymore. It's simply not affordable. There is just too much wrong with this country that is going to take years to fix, if they can (doubtful).

The government is taking advantage of its citizens. Taxes with no benefits.

Okay I have seen some non-sense in the comments section and I think Indian government should stop Indian students going to Canadian universities thereby fuelling their toothless economy by billions of dollars every year. Why can’t Trudeau take a simple stand against granting visa to Indian students if they think they are a major player in this world. The truth is, Indian education is growing and it’s good enough but at this point, most students who go there don’t know why they are going. The people who get caught in such problems are desperate people who are largely lured by a foreign and an exotic life. Looking at the Canadian housing crisis and other practical domestic difficulties, India is a much better nation. Some illiterates here are talking about literacy rates when we are running major tech corporations across the world.

Look as a product of an immigrant father myself, we simply can't afford to take care of the Canadians we have, never mind all these people who come to Canada with no jobs, no housing, no money, possibly no ability to speak English or French. Like it or not, our taxes are going up and our services are going down. The government is focused on GDP numbers as opposed to GDP per capita, which essentially means while our production numbers are artificially enhanced the quality of life per person is rapidly declining. We're talking about flooding Ontario with 500,000 new immigrants, God knows how many Indian paypigs... I mean students for colleges and universities, as our government is giving tax breaks to Atlantic Canadians and torturing everyone else for going greener with natural gas. We're living in a country where it is very possible to hold down multiple jobs and still be homeless in 2024 and we're talking about more immigrants? We can't afford the people we have now and we're talking about bringing in more? Who's building the homes for these people? The last couple million of immigrants who were supposed to build homes didn't build anything so now we're bring in more to build homes for the last couple million who were supposed to build homes plus Canadians who has been here for more than a July on a sidewalk.

It's the universities that are charging immigrants 5x as much as citizens to take the same classes whilst working hand in hand with the government to let more immigrants in so they can get richer and fatter and destroy the economy

Trudeau government is creating the inflation and then increasing the interest rates to fight against the inflation. \nAs a result, the government managed to take away young people goal of buying a house. Trudeau destroyed so many family values that even his wife left him.

We need the Ford Government and Trudeau to Resign immediately. We need a Government that cares about the needs of the Canadians. Were just a bunch of puppets letting them pull our strings into despair. It would take many years to get out of the mess they have caused our Country. No fair hiring. Full saturation. Not enough opportunities, and outsourcing the canadian jobs to foreign countries and their Canadian Branches. No jobs for canadian graduates. Bringing in foreign students with no planning. Even after 10 years of experience cant get a 2nd job. Need connections. There is bias in hiring practices. It’s been 5 years for me here and I honestly can say I have achieved nothing in my life yet. It scares me when I think I can’t return whatever my parents had invested in me. The fact is you’ll never have a good paying job in Canada being an immigrant. When I say this trust me I mean it. Most you’ll get is a minimum wage job which can make you survive the life here. There is No labour shortage! Data shows there's more people looking than there is work. People are lining around the block for low-paying jobs. Dollararrma had 2000 applicants in Waterloo for a lead cashier job. I've never known the job market to be so competitive with multiple tests, assessments and interviews for entry-level gigs. And its getting increasingly hard to get a job without speaking a foreign language. Why is mass immigration needed if they take our jobs and housing? The government says we need their tax dollars to support social programs but our social programs have declined a lot in the past decades despite mass immigration. It costs millions to process these immigrants. All immigration should be halted immediately and the processing costs used to conduct a study to determine what if any benefits we really get from this. Most countries don't take in half as many immigrants and manage just fine. People are struggling to find work and housing and the economy seems to be suffering not benefitting from immigrants. I feel for people in war-torn countries but we have been than generous to immigrants and our own citizens are hurting as a result.

Taxed like there’s no tomorrow for less and less services, infrastructures crumbling, if you want to get some service from municipal, provincial or federal employees you have to go through hoops of red tape, high costs on everything because there is lack of competition ( airlines, cell phones, internet…), every time there is a project for building something it ends up costing more at the end, people not working getting money for free from the very generous pm just before the elections, a Quebec government that imposes idiotic language laws when there are more urgent things to take care of (for example,how about taking care of those families that can’t afford breakfast for their kids before they go to school)…I could go on, but it’s pretty useless because all the incompetents that are in charge probably can’t read. They lack pride and they don’t care. So yeah, there’s a few reasons to leave Canada..

When Harper was PM, immigrants preferred to satay in Canada, after just a few years of the disastrous Trudeau Liberal government, immigrants are coming and deciding Canada is not worth it, and going home. Trudeau has caused so much pain and suffering that it will take generations to fix the damage he has done.

The trouble is Canada is not taking itself seriously. The reality is culture matters. When you dump millions of people into a place over a short period of time, there is bound to be turmoil. The housing crisis. The Balkanization of different cultural groups. The watering down of Canada‘s original culture (the culture that made country desirable in the first place). The low salaries versus cost of living. The reality is this has been brewing for a while, and is only coming to a head now. The solutions are there, but you are “racist” if you say anything. A 90% reduction in immigration would be a good start. Then, a reduction in the size of a bloated government. Incentives for people to have families again. People should be having 2 to 3 kids on average again. A return to Jesus couldn’t hurt as the country was built on Judeo-Christian values. Then, the country will grow organically and will have some hope of becoming great again!

My immigration process took 14 years in total until I could get here, it was a blessing and I had a lot of gratitude to be here after living in a warzone. Ive lived in Winnipeg for 10 years, a part of me was always happy and okay to deal with the cold because at least nobody would be killing you or attempting to on a daily basis, with rockets and bombs. 10 years later, I was wondering that the only reason we came here was to escape war, and not find a better quality of life. You can tell me “you don’t like it then leave” but i find it disturbing that many Canadians here don’t recognize how bad the situation gets, when governments don’t do anything to enhance quality of life and corporates take control everywhere and raise the costs to unbelievable numbers. Housing crisis, most can’t afford houses or even rent a nice apartment. Healthcare system is a complete dogshit mess, people here don’t recognize the importance of how much this industry needs to be supported by governments and citizens because EVERYONE benefits from it and stay alive longer. I don’t know man, I only see it collapsing going forward, especially when everyone is divided and the aboriginal issues are a constant trend.

Because Canada sucks that's why. The government takes 30-50% of your pay check, wastes it, and what you're left with barely covers essential goods and a crappy house that would be half the price virtually anywhere else, if not less.

Seriously? “The leaky bucket”? These immigrants aren’t even people to those in government. They see them as floodwaters to dump on our heads until we eventually drown, and the leak is making it take longer.

Why do you think? Full time jobs are not enough anymore, everything is expensive af, rent is all time high, gas is the same, phone bill is 4 times higher then anywhere else in the world, do I have to keep going? The government has made a Canada a place where there is no way for an average middleclass earner to raise a family we are simply taxed to death. Anyone who wants to have a chance to put a roof over their head and not be slaved to this new form of Corporate Robber Baren basically has to leave Canada. This is a nice place to live its has way too many laws and regulations but it still is relatively safe and has a better than average School and Healthcare system. However we are taking in way more people than the system can handle and the only way to pay for it is to raise taxes and the cycle continues.

After receiving government support, these immigrants take the money and leave. Immigration policy is screwed up. Why not take that money and invest it in Canadians who need it the most to help develop Canada.

Go home. We're full. We can't take care of the world. By law, they must seek asylum in the 1st safe country near theirs, not travel around the globe to get to the one with the most government handouts. Deport them all. ?????

This liberal government is so out of touch its rediculous. Our immigration minister is obviously just trying to collect a paycheck as bringing in over a million immigrants from now til 2026 is not the answer. Right now, our jobs and housing is in big trouble where even Canadians born here are having a hard time. They are trying to implement programs that just won't work. Try asking the average Canadian for common sense answers. Bringing in immigrants to build homes and work at Tim Hortons and McDonald's isnt the answer. I saw a TV commercial where a female immigrant was crying and complaining about her terrible life here in Canada. She stated that she can't find a job because she doesn't have the training to do the jobs. WELL, GET THE TRAINING BEFORE YOU COME OVER HERE TO TAKE AWAY THE CLASS SEAT FROM SOMEONE WHO HAS GONE THROUGH THE EDUCATIONAL PATHWAY IN THEIR LIFE AND DREAMED OF BECOMING A DOCTOR OR WHATEVER AND WANTING TO STUDY AND BE EDUCATED TO MAKE THAT LIFE DREAM COME THRUE. The Canadian government has not updated it's Stats so what New Comers see when they look up housing prices and labour market. It still reflects 2016. They never let those coming here know how difficult it is to get their credentials recognized or the lack of housing. So a Dentist or a Director from a University end up working at Super Store. Also, as soon as they arrive they are told these short certificates that they take will get them an excellent job when in reality it's a cash grab and they don't end up getting hired anywhere as the course and school is not recognized. Totally ripping them off. Basically we have set up a system where a nurse from another Country can't even become a care aid. Ridiculous how many road blocks there are. this is scary. we don’t even know who we’re letting into our own country. and with everything currently going on, who knows how many of them are sleeper agents or terrorists sent to destroy the country from within? especially with a vast majority of them being fighting age men? islamic extremists, terrorists, all people we’re letting cross into our country FREELY, and supporting and encouraging BETTER than our own citizens?!\n\nmany of them hate the very country, people, and values they’re illegally entering and eventually overpopulating and mass influencing. eventually these same people will hold positions of power, and the sheer number of them is absolutely overwhelming and can’t be ignored, with the number increasing each day our borders remain open, and security and stricter laws aren’t enforced. and with the constant display of weakness and incompetence from our “leaders”, they may just be emboldened. i’m afraid that one day, they may just rise up and commit mass terrorism. looting, murder, are all possibilities. and with the sheer number of them, we wouldn’t be able to do anything about it. they would be the ones in power now. thing is, our country supports and helps the illegals who hate them more than their own citizens. it’s absolutely treasonous. the longer our borders remain unprotected and wide open, their numbers will only increase, and so will their terrorism. \n\nnot only that, but the amount of illegals we constantly let in and those who are already in, are absolutely negatively impacting our country’s economy, living conditions, population is increasing, many of which are illegals and are a danger to our society, their numbers increasing by the day and taking over our country from within and them holding positions of power, homelessness and cost of living is rising, debt and inflation also keep rising, etc. it’s all bad. \n\nmass deportations must be enforced, but even then, im afraid that too many of them have already infiltrated the country. and considering how our own government hates us and spends billions on everything else BUT their own citizens. it’s not looking good and has huge potential to explode into something terrifying. \n\nthis is already a massive ongoing threat in america, and the possibility of it happening here in Canada becomes more likely the longer our borders are open, and the longer stricter laws and more protective and security measures aren’t being enforced. canada must be canada FIRST with the safety, security, and well-being of our citizens FIRST. \n\nthough with the constant numbers, and the continued ignorance, evil, and corruption in our government, i’m afraid they’re already here waiting for the right moment to strike us. \n\nthat’s why above all, we can’t rely on our leaders to do anything or bring us peace. the only one who can, is Jesus Christ. the one who gave His life for us and gave us the free gift of salvation. all we must do, is follow him, pick up our crosses, have faith in him, and have a relationship with him. \n\nwe must all repent of our sins and lovingly follow him. that is all that matters. Hey there, you fine American... Just to let you understand, our system is FAR from perfect, but it's still easy access and quick service IF you don't need a rare specialist or a not so rare one). The thing is, it's ALL priority based, so if you wait, it's because someone needs your resources even MORE than you do. Sometimes, it ends up in a tragedy, but MOST times, it allows for the neediest to get it first. \nAs far as having children here, we have a NEGATIVE birthrate, so our government PAYS us to have children. My son grew up in Quebec, and they have a double everything. Double taxes (not that bad after the tax deductions and credits), but they also Double the safety net and services, compared to the rest of Canada. Not only was childbirth free, so were the pre-natal courses and everything else, AND we got around 1000$/mo in childcare benefits, until he turned 18, with full of tax credits per kid. Plus, daycare was 5$/day back then, it's 7$/day almost 20 years later.. Pretty citizen friendly. \nThings MIGHT be changing though.
