I’m just wondering if tariffs hurt the people from the country that implements them than why is Canada imposing tariffs back on the US!
| 2025-02-02 | 0 |
I don't think the average viewer knows why the US is doing this. They're trying to combat illegal immigration and fentanyl as well as Mexican compliance with the drug cartels.\n\nThe reason tariffs are being used is because America is in a very powerful position when it comes to trade. The american economy doesn't rely on trade like Canada (67%), Mexico (73%) and China (37%). American trade accounts for only 24% of its massive GDP. if you removed all trade from america, it would still have larger economical output than china, mexico and canada COMBINED. yes. Combined. \n\nFurthermore, Canadian trade with america account for almost 80% of all trade in canada. A 25% increase would be absolutely devastating to canada. In america its about 13% so a 25% increase would cost more but it wont have any significant impact.\n\nNo doubt this tarrif war will cause far more problems for canada mexico and china than america. By a LOT. \n\nI dont think america is being selfish either. China does nothing to protect america from sending precursor chemicals to america to manufacture fentanyl. Canada facilitates illegal immigration and fentanyl into america with no accountability. And mexico is illegal immigrants by the MILLIONS and is literally working with the drug cartels. If they sort out those issues the trade war ends. \n\nI think america has every right to go to war to protect its sovereignty and its people.

Why can't Canada put a double % on the US tariffs which makes from the US imported goods like cars so expensive that nobody will buy it. Yes it's a problem. Just buy those cars from Europe or Japan. There are also very great goods from Europe like the orange juice mentioned in the video. This is available in Europe and Northern Africa as well. Canada eh! Just switch the trading origins. Would be very nice to getting much closer to Canada and Mexico with the EU ?❤

I actually get the tariffs on Canada and the EU. We defend them and they make fun of us for not having free health care. Well guess what we defend you to have that free health care cause your countries won’t spend the money to defend you guys. Once you guys invaded free health will be gone. What’s better. Being free from Russia or a slave to them forever and afraid of them invading.

Amazing both Canada and Mexico prefer tariffs instead of curtailing the drug and illegal immigration. \nWe are with President Trump.
| 2025-02-02 | 0 |
Good, now we need to stop sending every country foriegn aid. We hired President Donald Trump to do these things. This will hurt Mexico and Canada far more than it will the United States. It is very hypocritical for other country's that already have tariffs on American made products to say that it is wrong for the United States to tariff their products. We do not care that it will crush your economies because we are done with propping up your economy at the expense of American workers and jobs. It is absolutely amazing that fair trading has practices are scaring your country's.

Hurts the US citizens for US tariff imposed on Canadas exports to US. Canada's response: we, too, will hurt Canadians with tariffs imposed on Canada imports from US. Take that! Who pays? The people do. Who cares? Not the babies in charge.

13 million illegals led into this country by the Biden dictatorship. That’s 13,000 fentanyl pushing immigrants from Canada and they don’t think it’s anything Trump and America should worry about. Maybe Trump should take those 13,000 drug dealers and ship them back to Canada? You deal with your own trash Canada, tariffs are being imposed because you expect America to continue to pay for you and fix your mistakes. Unlike what media is telling you Trump does have the full force of America on his side.
| 2025-02-02 | 0 |
Now Trump will impose 50% tariff on Mexico and Canada and they will collapse.
| 2025-02-02 | 0 |
Who will pay the tariffs?? Yup, grassroot americans that soon may find the price of the fruits imported from Mexico jumps up 25% and also the oil price + raw minerals imported from Canada would jump 25% as well, which at the end, would seriously affects the price of end products of some daily items needed by grassroot americans
| 2025-02-02 | 0 |
Mexico and Canada should only target with tariffs, US products made in Republican states.
| 2025-02-02 | 0 |
Can I ask what is the root cause of this tariff. What is actual trumps demand for this tariff and if his demands are good why Canada and Mexico could not resolve the difference? I am not supporting trump but thought of asking for the reason.
| 2025-02-02 | 0 |
Canada and Mexico can now look forward to 50% tariffs. You're playing right into Trump's hand. You're going to be out of business sooner than later.
| 2025-02-02 | 0 |
Canada should set the tariffs 40 percent back until they keep the guns and drugs out of Canada also. That's been a problem for decades.
| 2025-02-02 | 0 |
The fact is that .2% of the fentanyl coming in to the United States comes from Canada. .2%. point two percent. And this warrants tariffs??
| 2025-02-02 | 0 |
I don't get it. Canada has been stealing from US tax payers for decades under the 1 sides trade agreements..like for 100s of billions? You bitchin about a 25% tariff? Cry me river. Our President is not a DEI hire like those before . ?cheers!!
| 2025-02-02 | 0 |
Trump doesn't accept calls from Canada ofc because this is not about border security nor the 1% fentanyl going into the US. It is about being hawkish and potentially annexation of Canada in the far future. \nThese tariffs make way more sense against Mexico, considering the amount of border issues and fentanyl infiltrating in the US, but tariffs against Canada is just BS.

Funny Mexico said they would defend their interest. In drug and human smuggling? Tariffs work like this. When two countries put tariffs on each other whoever exports more in relation to the other will loose. It’s a math problem. Unless the country has massive stockpiles of cash from the other country. We buy more from China, Mexico and Canada then they buy from us. Just FYI

Way to not mention the huge tariffs Canada has on American goods like milk and cheese
| 2025-02-02 | 0 |
Canada exports 77% of their goods to the USA . They can’t win a tariff war .
| 2025-02-02 | 0 |
Canada, to appease the Americans put 100% tariffs on EVs from China, these should be reversed toute de suite. Let Canada be flooded with Chinese vehicles, Canada will soon be trafficking them to the U.S.
| 2025-02-02 | 0 |
With reciprocal tariffs of 25%, the US is the winner, having a trade deficit of about 55 billion dollars in 2024 with Canada. That is, exports of Canadian products to the US are significantly higher than imports of US products to Canada.
| 2025-02-02 | 0 |
Canada just put a 100% tariff on Moonshine, Banjos and Alligator products.
| 2025-02-02 | 0 |
It's not just all the parties supporting Canada's counter tariffs. The Canadian people are in support, across political, cultural, economic and geographical lines. Canada has not been as unified about anything that I can remember (and I'm old). Plus, Canadians are a stubborn people with a more community oriented attitude than the USA and we don't like bullies. If we have to change brands of food, stop drinking bourbon and American beer, pay a bit more, even pay more taxes to cover the costs for people affected... so be it. BUT... when the tariff's are lifted, don't be so sure we'll just start buying American again. Stubborn also means we don't let things go easily.

US .put 25% tariff on Imports from Canada.\nCanada put 25% tariff on Exports to US.\nBoth additional fee will be passed to American citizen to pay eventually.
| 2025-02-02 | 0 |
Yes Canada will suffer, but they did not start the tariff war.
| 2025-02-02 | 0 |
America's population is 347 million. Canada's population is 40 million. (the same as California) Do you honestly believe Canadian tariffs will have any effect on the US?
| 2025-02-02 | 0 |
Canadians will be living like cave men in caves before this tariff war ends. The smart money is on compliance by Justine Trudeau Governor of Canada.
| 2025-02-02 | 0 |
Canada should make zero tariff to Chinese goods and Canadian middle class can afford cheap EV and all other commodities. Treudeu should know that US has no friend but interest only. Henry Kissinger
| 2025-02-02 | 0 |
Trump is going to put a 100% tariff on Canada, they have no idea who they are dealing with. But they will know very soon!
| 2025-02-02 | 0 |
Wonder if Canada can redirect the tariffs from US goods to pay for Trump’s tariffs so that they won’t have to pass it on to the consumer.
| 2025-02-02 | 0 |
We Brits are 100% behind Canada, we were always for free trade and imposing tariffs is nothing short of bullying by Trump. I will be boycotting US goods with immediate effect ... two can play that game !!!
| 2025-02-02 | 0 |
So in other words mexico and canada are saying to the united states that they don't care how many people die of fentanyl. They just want.\n Retaliatory tarrif. Trump should raise the tariff to fifty percent immediately

A lot of us Americans remember learning about the tariff wars in history class that ended up in deciding fair trade was the better route. I fear we’re about to learn the same lesson again…\n\nAs far as the drug trade goes apparently the GOV doesn’t spend enough time on the internet because the cartels are no longer just in Mexico they’re in the USA and in Canada. They have learned the Canadian border is a lot easier to cross and they can get into BC pretty easily due to relaxed immigration policies In Canada.. they probably don’t actually know where the drugs are coming from or where they’re being manufactured entirely. The cartels are probably a step ahead of them at the moment. \n\nI can’t believe the auto industry lobbyists were not instructed to go full send on the detriment of the opposite position taken from the NAFTA. The only thing I can see is auto sales are slumping and maybe they can blame this on the tariff policy for massive restructuring. \n\nI kind of understand wanting to negotiate with Mexico because they probably buy less American goods than Americans buy Mexican goods (drugs excluding) but I’m guessing Canada is a better customer of American goods than Americans are of Canadian goods. Why would you want to upset a good partner, customer, and ally!? It’s Beyond my comprehension…. If Trump was really smart he’d convince some factories to actually invest in Mexico with cooperation from the Mexican government investing in efficient transportation from the manufacturing sectors to the American border and the coasts for distribution. This would likely really help their economy and change the whole dynamic of all the things Trump has issues with. Fix it at the source not try to treat the symptoms.

Canada, Europe, Australia and South America together, low your mutual tariffs.

I hope Canada follows through with their tariffs. We need to hit those who voted and aided trump - it’s the only language they will understand! Yes, Musk will sue Canada, he’s such a wimp, but trump/musk started this fight!
| 2025-02-02 | 0 |
Dumb move, Trudeau. Trump doesn't fear measured responses; he's not a normal person. He only understands if you hit him back much harder than he hits you. \nCanada should NOT impose retaliatory counter tariffs that harm CANADIANS (Or do like China and impose 75% Tariffs on US items Canada can easily buy elsewhere). Rather, Canada should shut the OIL spigot and cancel electric feeds into the USA. RIGHT NOW. THAT would have the required effect and NOT HARM Canadians.
| 2025-02-02 | 0 |
Trump will increase the tariffs and add another 25 percent. What will Canada do then?
| 2025-02-02 | 0 |
Millionaires and billionaires and the politicians they’ve bought have spent the last 50 years fighting to destroy wages, unions, educational system, acces to healthcare and fought to avoid taxes for themselves leaving ordinary Americans with the bill. Trump is continuing this but more openly and loudly than ever before for all to see. What we in the rest of the western world see as basic rights and essential services is in America seen as “communism” \n\nThe consequences of this is that Americans are suffering and causing a huge demand for drugs both prescription and illegal drugs.\n\nTariffing Mexico and Canada makes no f sense when the peoblem is America and Americans. For many years USA and Mexico have worked together to combat drugs and cartels, there is no need to put tariffs on them.\n\nDrugs will continue to enter USA as long as there is a demand for it, including Musk and Trump jr. The only ones who can fix this is America itself.

There are so many countries that are willing to trade with the US and will replace Canada and Mexico. Why do you think Trump didnt put tariffs on Europe straight away?\nThe small European countries are the winners and their trade with the USA will increase dramatically. And the products will still be chealer than those from Canada.
| 2025-02-02 | 0 |
This is Trump’s plan to bring a right wing government in Canada in the next elections. The moment, he has his friends elected, he will drop the tariffs.
| 2025-02-02 | 0 |
We in usa welcome the tariffs on canada. Go trump!!
| 2025-02-02 | 0 |
Good for Canada to docking it to us like Trump did it go them. Actually Canada should have increased their tariffs to 50%.
| 2025-02-02 | 2 |
The US has a trade deficit around $1 TRILLION. So, this isn't anything personal against Canada; I think Trump wants to impose tariffs on ALL imports to encourage domestic manufacturing and flip the trade deficit. He's just using situations of importance to also gain political leverage.
| 2025-02-02 | 0 |
Trump said he doesn’t need goods free m Canada, then why put tariffs on them? Go somewhere else
| 2025-02-02 | 0 |
Issue is China. Rather than Punishing China, Trump got mad at the number shown. Infact all countries must impose 100% tariff on china. Atleast US, Canada, EU must cooperate between themselves to impose them on china. Any Product made in china must carry 100% tariff until china floats its currency.
| 2025-02-02 | 0 |
Trump will now retaliate with 50% tariff on oil. This willl push Canada in recession.
| 2025-02-02 | 0 |
How about Canada become 51st state, then no tariffs?
| 2025-02-02 | 0 |
Typical Americans and Trump. Sign a free trade agreement and then when you feel like it just violate it for your own interest. They only play by their own rules. If Canada violated the agreement they would all over it. A while back they tried to nail Canada with 4 billion in softwood lumber tariffs in that they claimed Canada violated the free trade agreement, which they did not. The arbitrary trade council which oversees both countries ordered the USA to pay back Canada the 4 billion. The USA never did. Trump claims Canada treats them unfairly yet they are the ones who violate the agreements. They are the poor trading partner. Canada should trim the exports to the USA significantly and find alternatives. Just cut out the corrupt Americans led by a convicted criminal.

So let me get this straight. Trudeau is imposing tariffs on the U.S. to make everything Canadians import from the U.S. that they need more expensive to Canadians and Trump is doing the same thing for everything from Canada though we need none of it and therefore will stop buying any of it. This will not go well for Canada. Ouch!!!
