the main concept of any foreign govt giving permanent residency is whether you fulfil the need for them, so this is good for people who have some skills and can positively contribute but anyone who just wants to go for the sake of going there is not going to get anything , they better study and then return .. this is nothing different from UK, its very hard to get Tier 2 visa in UK unless your job is in shortage or in the occupation list but the difference is that Canada has been very lenient in the past allowing people clearing just 10 years of schooling also getting student visas, this has not happened in UK as people come to study bachelor's or master when they have completed full 12+ years of schooling in their home country.. may be it was needed then in Canada but now its not the same case..so if govt is taking this step its first in the interest of the local people including the ones who have gained citizenship with proper procedure..

Government should have done this much earlier , yes Canada may need immigrants but not those who can’t follow the rules of this land and the ones who thinks that they are still in there home country and don’t want to change them self . Rather I would say Canada should stop immigration completely from some specific country who are creating problems here .

I'm a Montrealer, been one my whole life. In uni, every single student I speak to, all say they are moving out of Canada whenever and if they can. It's incredible how no Canadian wants to live in Canada anymore.

How many part-time jobs do they expect these people to work to pay for rent? Finding a full-time job is almost impossible. Coming to Canada exspecting the country to look after them? The companies take hours away from their employees and create another part-time position, then gets a bonus from the government as part of the new employee wages are paid. Same hours for the company but paying less wages and keeping the profits. Who is does this benefit? Not the workers that then need another part-time job to feed their kids. Filling up schools with people who do not met the education requirements with bogus paperwork. Who are then forced to attend a strip mall schools. Are their diplomas even valid? No proper place to live and using foodbanks. Anyone with this paperwork should be refused at airport not supported. Most are coming from counties that have schools. Because really would you want them managing your money, running the country or are they going to work at Tim Hortons? No wait their fellow countrymen will then use them in scams. But today Ontario with 18% acceptance of international students to medical school (of course they went back to their countries to practice,leaving us short of family doctors) has now ban this practise to medical schools. Hopefully other provinces. will do the same. There are many of young Canadians who want to study medicines who couldn’t get in. My friends daughters had to go to Caribbean’s and UK to study and eventually has to stay there because they met their partners there and also could not convert their degrees to return to Canada. Canada only accept 400 out of 1400 doctors to come back here per year.

My suggestion is anyone entering in Canada must be trained about our rules and regulations. Anyone breaking the laws must be deported immediately. We want this country as it was few decades ago. There are only few people in the society who make it look bad for everyone else.

They are skilled migrants. Why do Canada take them in? Because they lack skilled white people to do their jobs. Also lack of population. Medical and IT professionals are given big offers to come and live in Canada. However that may not be the case for students. Students are in large numbers and they want to stay back. Too many students is a problem. Colleges just take in too many of them, because they pay the money. Bring some control over colleges and students intake. There are too many new colleges just for business and that’s not good.

Have been saying it for years to many international students from India lived in qc there were so many international students coming from Punjab to qc. They will go just about anywhere in Canada if it means it will get them a PR wow left qc and moved to Ottawa so far have not seen so many international students . No! These are supposed to be intelligent people. You do your homework before considering going to another country, especially as a student. My parents couldn't raise that kind of money to pay for me to study in another country, or even in my own country. Life isn't fair, but Canadians need priority to be housed in Canada. India has very good schools at affordable prices for Indians, and also very high prices for international students. I looked into studying in India and I couldn't afford it as an International student. India should re evaluate its priorities, before spending billions on space programs. India should also decide who it wants to be friends with. I am sure there are lots of good schools in Russia, who right now it prefers over the West.
