We can’t afford to help our elderly, mentally ill, homeless etc. what makes this a good way to spend our tax dollars.

"Thousands fleeing extreme poverty" - wake up my friend. When you live under extreme poverty, you can't afford to travel by plane or even buy a suitcase. All of those pretended immigrants are coming here because we are excessively generous and naive and they know that. They'll wipe us out at the first occasion.

Migrants get free housing and health care plus 1,400 per month for expenses. I worked my entire life in New York City and I only get 1400 per month from Social Security. My only choice was to do the opposite and cross the border to Mexico where I can afford to live.

Hmm I feel so bad for everyone involved in this. I don't really want cartels going over the US border but I really don't mind all the people fleeing from countries that are even worse then the US. So many of them have such horror stories from their native countries. And if they're willing to work here I don't think there should be really a problem.
