There is no point of leaving India for Canada. I understand you need to be highly competitive in India to get a good paying private sector job.Indians with its highest growth rate can be entrepreneurs and have descent life than misery of Canada . India’s urban infrastructure is a cause of concern as it is governed by corrupt local bodies . If the Modi govt. take over them for atleast cities of over 1Million lots of people will completely avoid going out. India need to develop infrastructure of its 6 biggest cities on par with western nations.

The article claims that for decades, immigrants have fuelled Canada's ecomonic growth. Ok, but what about strengthening its culture, to ensure that in the long term, this country remains successful? No, from what i have seen, the breakneck rate of immigration has hollowed out Canada's culture. What I see around me are newcomers that are not being integrated, or that outright refuse to, or are openly hostile to the host culture. How any of these people believe that Canada can remain successful, and them also, as a result, is beyond me. To me, it seems obvious we need a pause and reset and I'm doubtful that this small decrease in applications will achieve anything.

Foreign peoples are claiming our birth rates are too low...but if we've got abandoned kids sitting there this is obviously a false statement. Those kids were displaced by foreign workers...with their families. Foreign workers are realizing this....and those that didn't find jobs are leaving.

High taxes, unaffordable housing, lack of jobs, high interest rates, crumbling health care system are the reasons the immigrants face when landing in Canada.

You should tell us how many Indian immigrants actually went back to India . Not many . I have seen 20% interest rate here and you think 5% interest rate is high . Indian community is the richest immigrant community in North America . People move to United States and move back to Canada which is normal . 17.5% left Canada but 82.5% are still here , what does that tell you ? There is housing shortage and that will be solved in time . A lot of these problems are caused due to covid shutdown and excessive immigrants coming from India . We Indian may not like cold weather but we are very comfortable in inside house . So far this year I only had to shovel snow twice and not for months . You are mostly giving false information about the state of affairs in Canada. This is the worst time in the history of our country. We are being invaded with legal illegal immigration. The federal government is actively replacing the old stock Canadians with non white immigrants essentially changing the tge Canadian culture and value system. Crime and homelessness is rampant in every city and town across the country . There is a very serious housing crisis as i speak. The country is short upto 4 million homes driving up the price of real estate and rental housing. For example where i live in British Columbia a 1 bedroom apartment rents for $2200 per month for a 50 year old apartment. It costs about $100 dollars for a single bag of groceries. It costs about $4000 dollars per month just to exist. All of that and our government has gone the way of socialism and our rights and freedom are being removed at an alarming rate.

It depends on ur priority . I truly feel from development perspective of a child it’s much holistic and less harsh. Depending on capability ppl admit in private schools for more rigorous and methodical education. Public schools vary based on ratings, hence ppl select house based on school district .\nSecondly I personally felt a lot of shift in my mental health. While u have to do everything by urself it gets integrated with ur lifestyle and u learn to function parallely or sequentially. A good part I feel rather than supervising maids and doing khich khich it’s way easier to do the job on ur own.\nHere the mental health is much better, ppl care about family life , ppl care about values and respect to each other. Lemme lay it pretty bare as a Canadian myself… approximately 1/8 individuals (or on family scale roughly 1/5) suffers from food insecurity. That number can double when ya go farther north or into Indigenous communities thanks to food deserts…. A rich nation where more than 10% of people have to worry about something as basic as dinner day to day… if that isn’t a warning sign of a sinking ship I have no idea what is…\nOh and our housing issue is totally a cost/accessibility issue and not a shortage. There is about 3 empty residential homes/apartments per every single unhoused person living rough outside…and if we account for shelter homeless (ie those couch surfing or otherwise under a roof without a fixed residence) the rate of unhoused triples…

I'm perfectly happy with Canada and being Canadian. My business is thriving. I don't own a house (i'm 50) and probably won't. They aren't good investments and both a recession and a housing crash are necessary to lower prices. \n\nLet me say something about the housing crisis - it's not immigration. Canadians are overleveraged. Many own second, third and fourth properties that they rent out. Once they have to renew into the teeth of higher rates you'll start to see a correction like what we saw in the 1980s. Couple that with higher unemployment and you have a recipe for a crash. Everyone wants lower house prices -- until we get them. Go try to renew your 600,000k mortgage on your million-dollar house that's now worth $800,000. \n\nHealth care is a problem - but where isn't it? The UK? The US? Shocking to watch this video. 20 years my family and I had an enjoyable stay in Vancouver especially the Rocky mountain trip. Beautiful scenery and I was thinking of migrating to Canada, Vancouver. \n\nRecently I heard horrible stories of racism and anti Chinese. Canada economy now is bad and no safety staying there. High taxes, rising crime rates and not much opportunities for work or business in Vancouver. Within 20 yrs Vancouver was once a beautiful, safe place became a rundown crime infested place.

Canada is no longer Canada. Canadiens are almost a minority in there own country. We have very large cities that we are a minority in. There is so much hate towards white people. FUK TRUDEAU. there is a major housing crisis because we have to many immigrants in a short period of time. The immigrants barley speak English if any at all and are taking over the schools.They are causing the crime rate to rise substantially. Canada is no longer a great country to live.

The rate that immigrants are let into the country should be half of the number of homes that are built that year. Want to let more immigrants in to boost Economy? Built more homes.

Trudeau has systematically destroyed every aspect of Canadian life over the past 8 years. I feel badly for immigrants that have come here to make a better life, being very disappointed with the reality of life in Canada with its high inflation, high taxes, high crime rates, a compromised judicial system and poor healthcare. Many of us that were born and raised here are also looking to leave. It's shocking how far this country has fallen in 8 years and there's no sign that this government will change course anytime soon.

Our government is so incompetent and only reactive. Never proactive and no insight. International students may impact housing shortage but not the other infrastructures (or at a minimal level) like Healthcare, roads/traffic, violent crimes, community services (homeless, drugs,etc), etc. They do not create slums and ghettos. They probably have the lowest rate of criminal records as well. You don't even need exhaustive data analysis for this, just freaking common sense.

Good luck trying to convince entiled canadian kids to go to college at the rate international students do. The real issue is that Canadian kids are not interested in attending higher educational institutions as they once were in the past

Sadly, the program is being abused by some people which results in socio-economic issues (e.g. housing)!

That UT tuition rate has got to be an anomaly. I've worked at 3 BC universities and the discrepancy is nowhere near that.

Dont forget. And this is important. All these foreign students are not paying out of their pockets. They are payng with student loans. Even though they have to pay way more than domestic students many will leave owing tens of thousands and the banks will up their rates to cover their losses. So average Canadians will be left holding the bag.

Most people are not saying no to immigration. We do need some level of immigration. \n\nHowever, we need to slow way down to catch up and make up for the massive immigration of the past 6 to 8 years. Bringing more and more people, when we don't have the infrastructure or the economy to support them, is doing no one a favor (except big companies and landlords). Immigrants come here with the promise of a better life but end up stuck paying 2700$ per month for a closet in Toronto, working three jobs and 55 hours a week where they make 3400$ a month. The housing situation is the worst it has ever been. Rates are high, average cost of house in Canada is now above 750k CAD while the average salary is around 54k. Those are not sustainable figures. We cannot keep accepting 500k people a year, with hundreds of thousands of international students on top of it. \n\nI'm sorry if it ruffles the feathers of some liberal thinkers, CEOs, big slumlords and university boards but this is not a sustainable model. We've been going down in standards of living, despite paying heavy taxes. Something needs to change.

As an Internation student from Hong Kong, I'm glad I only have to pay 5x the local tuition rate at Western U, instead of 10x at UoT... and yeah I can confirm that Western's conditional offer for my enrollment was to attend a HK pre-university exam. Just attendence, not even requiring a passing grade.

Carbon tax is also increasing the cost of transport, materials and labor. This is making construction and renovations very expensive. Tax is also going up and interest rates.

The huge wave of immigration is making the Bank of Canada to keep on increasing interest rates to fight inflation. Since the demand for commodities by the large swathes of new immigrants far outstrips what Canada can supply. The roads and highways are overcrowded, the emergency waiting time in hospitals is over 8hrs since the medical infrastructure is not able to cope with the demand by the huge population.

I agree with what was stated in this.\n\nI would be interested in hearing how Canadian students compare to international students grade wise.\n\n There's a disturbing trend of expectations on Canadian standards being lowered and lowered, teachers being unable to fail students, and covid made it so much worse. Reading levels for middle school have been adjusted to be that of fifth grade or lower.\n\n There are so many students GRADUATING from high school who can't read at a sixth grade level. They haven't seen the inside of a classroom except to socialize with friends. \n\n Why would universities want these students? So their failure or drop out rate can go through the roof? So they can show employment after graduation being low as these students have little to no motivation to work?

Asked a student who named a college I had never heard of and now we see numbers like 40K in one institution. Even if you are for immigration... there is another issue with this... Canada already has one of the highest rates of post secondary education in it's own population (something like 40% now) and with immigrants coming through other economic categories. It needs low-skilled workers far more than it needs university graduates due to is massively low birth rate.
