You talk about people immigrating as though they are legally coming here. Well that isn't the case. The epidemic of sexual abuse , property crime and gang violence, the statistics about learning the language, culture, statistics about employment, even personal interviews are good enough proof that majority of these migrants aren't willing to uphold our rules, our culture and are NOT going to be suitable citizens of Europe. Why should we be paying for people who gleefully admit to not wanting to work and feeling entitled to social benefits? Only France and UK were colonial empires, the rest of Europe had NOTHING to do with the state of Middle East.\nWe sympathise with people wanting to escape from religious fundamentalism, from fear of retribution for their identity and there are separate programmes for them. However we have every right not to want Islam and it's rules and it's fanatics anywhere close - religion is a remnant of the middle age and religious fundamentalism, be it Christian of Muslim is nothing more than an excuse to be hateful and bigoted. Europe has worked hard to free itself from that kind of mentality, to have majority of people who genuinely believe in things like gender equality, LGBTQ+ rights, disabled rights, right to healthcare, equality under law and so on - vast majority of which are not compatible with what vast majority of practicing Muslims believe. They don't like us, they don't like the way we behave and dress, they don't want to live like us and follow the same rules- why are they here if not for the resources? If they were there for human rights issues, they wouldn't be bringing the opressive faith that is the source of the human rights violations in their homeland.

I grew up in Canada..Calgary to be more specific. I have now been away for 10 years, living in Chile. I go visit every couple of years and I understand completely, id have a hard time moving back. Maybe for people who have arrived in the last few years it seems fine, but for the rest of us that remeber how it was 15, 20 or 30 years ago..its a shocking change. The big cities are full of drugs and homeless, which increases crime. Its expensive and good jobs are hard to come by. It seems to me 2015 was the turning point and only these last 2 or 3 years are Canadians realizing the mess that has been created.

Our governments in Canada have certainly failed us thanks to Justin & Jagmeet. Voting has consequences so vote for Pierre Pollievue in 2025 . Hopefully he can enact change to get our country back on track . It will take decades to fix but this country is blessed with talented people and vast resources. It is a beautiful land so let's improve the human side . The rest of the world may beckon but it to has many problems.

Hey! I live in Edmonton Alberta Canada,population around 1.2 million. We have a huge awesome river and river valley that is utilized year round. There are non stop festivals, right now we have the Cari West the largest Caribbean festival in western Canada. Our tap water is amazing, my daughter rents the main floor of a renovated house that includes a garage for 1,400 a month. Gorgeous south side neighbourhood within walking distance to anything. Lots of imperfections as it is a big city and yes there is crime but it does not define what I do and where I go except possibly late at night. The cold in the winter is tolerable for the most part but that doesn’t stop any one from outdoor activities. Just put your warm clothes on and just get out there. I get fed up with winter when it drags on but all of a sudden we’ve been having record breaking heat this summer so I am looking forward to Autumn. We’re 4 hours from the fabulous Rocky Mountains and the wonderful city of Calgary is about an hour 1/2 from there. Alberta is my province and Edmonton is my home. The rest of Canada varies from one province to another. PS. We’ve travelled to various locations in the U.S. and were always treated well and enjoyed our visits, just sayin!

Western welfare and assistance programs used to be support systems for needy citizens. But in last 20 years its become a buffet feeding frenzy for the rest of the world to just get into those nations any way they can, legal or not, to get in on it as its an upgrade to the standards of where they come from. But we cant support it anymore. Government policies have not adapted to the changing world. Only citizens should have access to this and legal vetted immigrants. Any illegal immigrants or refugee claimants should stay where they are until their applications are approved. We are stretched beyond our limits.

What about sending official letters to all utility companies that the unit is being housed illegally? Don't people need official documents to maintain and/or open utility accounts? I would devote my energy to removing their energy. Then let winter do the rest.

The cost of living in metro Vancouver, BC is so ridiculously high that many are either sharing a suite or living in motor homes. It's gotten so bad they had to shut down the Bradner Rest Area in Abbotsford because it was full of people living in motor homes and trailers.

Statistics show that half of the new immigrants in the photo op at the end will have voluntarily left Canada within the next 5 -10 years. Many to the US, and most of the rest back to their home countries, as they will find that Canada is not a place to come to to get ahead. Canada is over-hyped for sure. I know, I came to Canada and then left after 10 years to the US, where opportunities are far, far better. Save yourselves a decade of wasted time and come to the US straight away.

This is the reason why I don’t rent to Canadians. I have so many horror stories like these. Being an owner myself, I work 7 days a week with no rest days. And try to create something for ourselves. And mostly Canadian tenants try to abuse the system. It’s so difficult and don’t want to deal with this, so am scared to death to give to rent to anyone.

Why is everyone moving to Toronto. Canada is not Toronto. There are many places in Canada that needs to be developed. Why not develop other places. Toronto is saturated with people. Our resources are depleted. Rents are very high. New immigrants should go live in other parts of Canada. Start communities and businesses in other areas. All new immigrants cannot settle in Toronto. We need the rest of Canada to be developed.

So many people come and commit crimes, ignore our laws and live off the government. We needed certain skilled people and I could care less what country they come from as that immigration is crucial to our economy and population. Right now there isn't enough housing for our own citizens. It's irresponsible. If families want to sponsor an immigrant family that's awesome. Why do people say when people are crossing either from Mexico or Canada into America, but in reality is both countries are both in America. I love how he mentions in the end about the housing crisis but does not address it. Housing has become unaffordable for most new homeowners yet we got all these landlords stocking up on more properties just to make more money for themselves. Yes laws need to be changed so tenants can't abuse it, but laws also needs to be changed so people aren't owning multiple homes while rest can't even afford a primary residence. I don't like going into bidding wars to purchase my first property when the people I am bidding against already own multiple properties.

The government is who makes it too expensive for developers to build cheap housing. If they decreased regulations, the free market would do the rest.
