The single biggest reason not to come to Canada or even stay here as an immigrant is HOUSING. Immigrant destination cities like Vancouver and Toronto have house prices over $1.2m which basically means it will take you 30 years to save for a downpayment and 100 years to pay off a house. Yes, 100 years on an average pay. Rents are insane as well so unless you want you and your future generations to slave away, don't come to Canada. The only affordable major city for immigrants in Canada is Calgary but good luck finding any non oil related there and living at -20C for half the year. In short, HOUSING alone is a good enough reason NOT TO MOVE OR STAY in canada.

USA is a better country than Canada when it comes to job opportunities/businesses. My uncle, who is a chef, moved to Toronto and was struggling to find a job that would pay him well enough. He then moved to NY state and within one year he was able to open his own restaurant. His finance has increased by leaps and bounds and now he runs three restaurants and already became a US citizen. Immigration might be easier in Canada, but if you get a chance to work and live in the US, you'll reap much bigger rewards for the efforts you're willing to put there.

Canada is what you make of it. You can arrive rich and end up poor and you can arrive poor and end up rich. In between that, you can have a great life that balances your needs. I’ve seen immigrants succeed simply because they see the opportunity in front of them . They worked hard in their own counties to stay just above the poverty line ,but when they apply that same effort here it pays off ten times greater. I feel that compared to a lot of immigrants, natural born Canadians come across as spoiled and a little lazy…we are. We haven’t had to struggle the same way someone from a poorer country might have. I’ve talked to people who’ve worked ten to twelve hours a day just to stay afloat. If you did that here you could make plenty of money to live and have some left over. As far as owning a house goes,yes it’s expensive . I feel that homeownership in any country is relatively expensive. Here is a tip; use that soaring home prices to your advantage. Houses are expensive but you can make a lot of money buying and selling. I recommend putting together a buyers group and share the house for a few years, then sell at a profit, buy a bigger house or two smaller houses.try to buy the worst house in the best neighbourhood and fix it up slowly . That house could double in value in five or six years in the Toronto market. This is nothing new of course ,the people from India and China seem to do this a lot here ,it drives up prices and profits. On the downside to this ,you are now part of the problem. As the housing prices are driven up the non wealthy can no longer afford to own a house . They are at the mercy of high rents with no rewards of ownership. They are caught in a cycle of hard work and (relative)poverty. This could also be you if you can’t keep up the house payments and are forced to rent.\nHow well you speak English is important but your native language is also useful here because Canada is half immigrants . As a Canadian that speaks only english (Irish descent)I have to say to all newcomers that I’m very impressed that you have learned a new language and that you may even speak more than two! Don’t be embarrassed about your abilities . I find that in my experience , Canadians do not look down on people just because they don’t know English. In fact ,I’ve known people that have lived here for decades and still know very little English. They are comfortable in their communities and they function just fine. Learn as much English as suits your needs and be proud of any gains you make.\nOutside of Toronto are other cities that you might consider when looking at southern Ontario.From my experience,most are generally the same, just not as big . There are large immigrant communities in London Ontario, Hamilton and just outside of Toronto where housing is just a little bit less expensive but the commute to work is probably longer. This is just my opinion but in the small towns there are less people of colour , (which is what people of no colour call everyone else . I wonder if I’m called a person of no colour in some other culture ? LoL ). That might make it harder for you to feel integrated ,if that’s what you want. I’m not saying that people from other cultures can’t make it in a small town , I’m just saying that it’s definitely not Toronto . Here, people of any nationality can feel like they have a place where they can belong . It seems that no matter where you are from ,there is a community already here that’s set up restaurants and stores and clothing shops and newcomer support systems. And if your from Portugal or China or India or Africa or the Middle East, there are large groups of your kin here that have established roots for generations and you probably know this already.\nToronto means meeting place and that becomes evident quickly. I was born here and it’s one of the things I love the most about my city. I’m not going to say that there isn’t systemic racism here ,the people of no colour still kind of keep the top position , but as we become a minority in a decade or so ,I hope that will shift to a broader spectrum. It’s certainly happening already. One good thing is that the police department tries to hire people of colour so that racialism may play a smaller role. We’re getting used to seeing our politicians more and more reflect their constituents.\nI have to talk about the weather. Because I’m from here I’m used to the extremes of minus thirty and plus thirty . Eventually you get used to it (somewhat). Dressing in the right clothes is important. Summer is easy , but winter is different. It’s trying to kill you. Spend the most that you can afford on winter cloths . If you can afford a quality parka you should get one. The hood can be drawn around the face and stay out of the wind.\nIf not ,think of layers with a outer layer that blocks the wind. We have things called long Johns that are basically full length thick cotton or nylon pants that go on under your pants and a pair of extra thick socks. Buy your boots to fit your thick socks. Try to get the best boots you can afford ,it’s something that you might spend a little extra for but never regret.\nAll in all we are a fairly organized and peaceful society. Most people are friendly and will give you a chance . We have a good social safety net here and you don’t have to be homeless or starving if you don’t want to. There are people and organizations set up to help ,that truly try to get people back on their feet. It’s a good investment that pays off in ways that matter for the quality of life in a big city. I’m not putting my American neighbours down when I say they do things differently. They have their ways ,we have ours. This is just something that we do because we’re trying to learn how to help those that society has discarded or can’t find their place. Sure we have one or two areas where the homeless have pitched tents and we have some resources for them if they want. Unfortunately The mayor recently forced a small camp to move from a very visible place to more scattered locations. There were social workers involved as well as protesters trying to protect them. I didn’t like that happening and I want to see even more resources dedicated to them ,but on the other hand ,we are trying to avoid something like what happens on the streets when it’s just ignored. When I see YouTube videos of the streets of Philadelphia I’m extremely saddened. I thank the lucky stars that I was born in Toronto Canada.\nFor all it’s pollution and expense and crowds ,I think it’s a great place to do almost anything your heart desires . For every ugly building there is a beautiful park ,for every honked horn there is a birds call , for every cold and dark day there is beautiful sunny one around the corner.

I know Canada is not perfect and I find you’re a bit hard on the red maple leaf... just because you don’t find the same things as your native country. It’s like\nfrench people coming from France, going to Quebec province an complaining about the food, the weather etc... well we’re not France, sorry to say! But I can\ntry to understand your situation; it’s probably inevitable that the comparison between your country and Canada would show up eventually. I see regularly \nimmigrants moving here and it’s true that it’s not easy. (Some people will have to be cab drivers because they can’t find work in their field). But you have\nopportunities if you work hard. I have the example of a Russian truck driver who move here with his family (wife, two kids). The man started by working for\na general transport company, then was able to buy his own truck. Now he’s able to work with whoever he wants. So I think every experience is different.\nOne other thing I noticed is that for families coming here it will always be easier for kids (even teens) to adapt quicker then their parents. I live in the east\n(the maritimes) and there is not very large cities. Some immigrants that come here will stay for a while but then they would move to a larger city (like\nToronto) because that city must have the most ethnic diversity in Canada. For cultural differences true that Canadians are like Americans in the «none»\nfashion trending. It’s a different mentality then Europe because over there fashion is a statement; you are judge on your appearance. Here, not as much.\nIt shows you don’t like winter and if you don’t your not a real Canadian! :-) Don’t generalize, a lot of people here like winter. And for taxes I don’t have a clear\nexplanation other then we have a huge empty country that needs roads, infrastructures, etc. and someone has to pay for it! (fun fact, all the population\nof Canada could fit in a country like Poland... it shows how empty it is here). Finally, and I heard this many times, maybe the people or the part of the\ngovernment to blame is Immigration Canada. Maybe they give to much of an idealistic image of Canada! My parents came to Canada in 1957 from England when I was six. They came across all those issues you described in your very accurate assessment of the immigration issue. The most frustrating was that ridiculous “ Canadian experience “ barrier . A catch 22 excuse that defies logic. It’s merely a not so transparent way of giving you a substandard wage for clearly qualified experience. It’s very insulting especially when it’s obvious in many cases that the country you came from has even higher professional standards than Canada. I’m quite shocked to hear this unfair ,discriminatory practice is still operating and naturally turns many excellent immigrants away. Someone should be fired at Immigration Canada for not promoting the abolition of this practice , especially when it comes to doctors ,engineers etc. So wasteful. \nI’ll be following your videos in future. Just wandering if you guys are thinking of leaving as well and what your occupations actually are.

People cannot expect as though they are Coming to heaven.\nAs any other country it has its Pros and Cons.\nBut if you are a person who cannot settle in your own country, Canada opens its arms for you. canada is great country to immigrate if you come from money. and your family can comfortably bankroll your stay there. but if you are going too canada thinking you'll make money, well lets just say you will be brutalised by life there. the best time to move to canada is whn doing an undergraduate degree since you get to start from the bottom in matters of work experience and build the social networks along the years. it is sad to hear cab drivers in canada most who are immigrants were doctors, some even surgeons back in their home country

I know people who have done Masters in Software engineering are working in a Pizza shops. If there is one job opening there are 10 thousand applicants for the same job. From overwhelming amounts of bad experience: Generational abuse, damages, corruption, delusion, speaking and acting with certainty, even indisputable while other possibilities exist - creating more and more conflict and damages and time being wasted, is life in Canada. The Canadians who have taken power and control over and upon others and childrens lives, have sabotaged so many lives, have corrupted reasonableness, logic, and needed care. Many Canadian children have been and are still being tortured, trafficked, profited on, and poisoned. Victims are now disabled, expected to heal themselves often while still feeling tortured, and are largely left to continue to suffer while the majority basically looks the other way, works to party, play, go on vacations and such, and basically refuses to understand what went wrong, where it went wrong, and where it's going wrong, in childhood. This's why I think most don't get it and why Canada doesn't have smart people, and why people ask why from others instead of figuring it out or should already know the answer if so-called adults were competent and actually helpful. The ugly truth is that Canadians don't know how to raise children all that well - day after day, year after year, generation after generation. Emotional and physical damages are often permanent; one a child or a person is poison and traumatise, there's no coming back. Canada at large is still one of the worst human violators on this planet and there is really no end in sight for child abuse because it's not Canada's top priority.

I don't care how it started but if you did just your job a server you get just the hourly. This idea that tipping is standard is basically rewarding bad behavior.. something I refuse to.\n\nIv had the odd waitress get snarky and if the food was high quality, while the service was garbage. Iv gone directly to kitchen staff and given them a tip cutting the server out completely normally they only give 10% of there total tips to the kitchen and I don't know any one server that claim more that 35% of there tips come tax season.\n. ohh I should mention prior to covid lockdowns a decent sever at an average bar takes home an average of $200 a night on top of their hourly wage so with the standard of 15 per h that's 120 + 200 that is 320 in a 8 hour shit that $40.00 and rough hour after 37 since I don't know a single one paying the proper taxes. A Friday/Saturday night should bring in well over 400.\n\nNow contrary to popular belief a restaurant must let view the kitchen if requested that's why you can see the kitchen in fast food places. \nAnd vice versa don't you kids yourself.\n\nThe most iv seen a server be tipped from a single table is $6,500\nIn one night $15,000\nVery rare even in mist fine dining.\n\nIf you knew a server complaing about income prior to covid lockdowns that ment 1 of 3 things\n1. addiction\n2. While with Canada you have fixed prices, which actually encourages stagnantion in development as anything that streamlines the hospital making it more efficient hurst the hospitals next year of available funding.. while being hurt in the USA can really set the individual back.\nIn Canada you get an overall lower quality of care as the talented doctors end up moving to the states where they can get paid what they are worth not stuck on a fixed income. And after all that rare illnesses in canada as stated don't have any coverage meaning that any one hit with hit rare illness finds out the hard way they can either pay for life saving medication or well pass on.. as most Canadian are taxed to high to have any substantial savings available for such an emergency as they fall into the trap that the government has me covered. \n\nSo each system has its positives and negatives and as far as I'm concerned it's not talked about enough honestly up hear.\n\nIf you have been to the dentist in canada thats basically the usa system, though the prices are fixed in some areas so some services won't be available.. as they don't update the payment schedule often enough so certain procedures pay well, other well can actually cost the dentist out of pocket. \nTherefore in some areas you can't get certain procedures done at all the dentist will refuse.

Okay. A lot of people here have no clue how the immigration system works both in the US and in Canada. “He should just have come here legally”. Well, most of the time a legal path to emigrating to the US/Canada just does not exist, and its getting more and more impossible to be granted asylum. In the US you can’t just apply for a work visa, you can’t just apply for a green card. You got to be eligible to apply for it. For a work visa you need a job offer first, you need proof of income and most of the time the employer will have to prove they couldn’t find an American to take the position. To get a green card you either have to get married to an American, invest at least $500,000 or try applying for asylum (which is almost impossible to get nowadays). ALSO to apply for asylum you need to be either inside the US or at a US port of entry. Try to be less “patriotic” and more empathetic. People flee their countries because of war, violence, cartels, gangs, terrorism, etc. They are desperate and want to protect their families and have a better life. If you were in their shoes and staying in your home country put your family in great harm you would have done the same thing. People need to stop judging, stop being selfish and start leading with empathy.

Just keep going north next stop Russia, I,m sure they would give your family asylum, stay in your own country and try to change that one however with the corruption and crime of the socialist type government change would be slow coming feel sorry for them but illegally crossing one border after another is not the answer, countries have immigration laws to keep them safe as well.....

Hi I am Christian and in high school I took a cross out of my backpack Christian cross and placed it on to my desk for a moment and I had my teacher come up to me and tell me that I need to put it in my bag because it was offencive to the person sitting next to me as well as putting my necklace that had a cross on it tucked into my shirt the student that was sitting next to me was wearing a turban and the teacher didn't say anything to him and years later my little brother when he was in grade school was told that he was going to get a detention or sent home if he didn't put his Bible away that he was reading on his free time

I find it to be swept under the carpet as far as racism is concerned, they smile in front of you but behind you they Stab you in the back .well the Americans is right up front I can work with you but I won’t socialize with you, at least you’re truthful.\n\n I find Canadians to be very two face , Hidden they true feeling and pretend a lot . There's racism in ever country. The biggest racism is coming from the left that constantly demonize the caucasian race. White kids get bullied as well, and CBC should also be talking about the discrimination by the leftist government that are are giving the majority of jobs to non whites and don't care about the qualifications the job applicants have. My mother was German/Irish. My father was french/dutch. I tan quite well, enough time in the sun and I get Puerto Rican dark. I got my dad's curly hair. I spent 10 years on the south coast of of the US so when I moved back to Missouri I was quite dark, not really an issue on the cost as everyone is kinda dark lol Back in Missouri I got followed around stores, had my bags checked coming out of stores, had clears talk to me in slow broken English, and before I could open my mouth was told they didn't speak spanish. I have since lost my tan and all that with it. Stuff like that is a real wake up call.

know one guy that has 15 kids in China,, women wanted to have sex with him so they will have a baby and use that baby when he or she turns 21 to come to the USA,, otherwise they never will... We have no idea if they're women if their men if they have anything underneath there that can hurt somebody there was a doctor who was treating a woman and because he couldn't see who she was he Ended up treating her a whole family because ould they all had the same eyes the doctor got in to trouble for asking her to take it off so he could treat her we he did not know he was treating her 2 sisters also onle one sister had health inc there's many reasons for them not to wear them they complain about our culture over here well I have a prom with theirs with that this is what happens when you try to come to another country and preach to other people eventually it's all neutral territory you can't come here and tell people what to do because u dont like it and holler at these young women for wearing what they want but it happens all the time well not u got what u wanted it goes both ways
